Digitizer Fix, Version 1.2

DESCRIPTION DigiFix is a small tool that will automatically load and recalibrate your digitizer whenever: 1) The device does a "Soft Reset" 2) The device turns on 3) The device Hotsyncs This will prevent "Mad Digitizer Syndrome" that is commonly experienced on many Palms (especially the Palm V). WHO SHOULD USE THIS Everyone. If you have constant alignment problems where you need to recalibrate often, this will help solve your problem. If your digitizer is out of alignment and your Palm is unusable, this will help. If you don't have alignment problems, it won't hurt to have around. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS View the Digifix Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). CHANGES/NEW FEATURES Version 1.2 - 12/05/2001 Set calibration on launch. With this newly added feature, you can configure Digifix to go directly to the calibration step immediately after launch. If you find that you need to recalibrate often (even with Digifix installed) this feature will save you some clicks. UI Improvements. New icons and general dialog cleanup. Launch on Reset bug fix. Fixed a small bug that occasionally prevented the app from launching on a soft reset. 1.1 - 11/01/2001 Automatically launch on Soft Reset. Once installed, DigiFix will launch itself on a soft reset. This helps people whose digitizer is way out of line and therefore, cannot launch the app themselves. This feature can be turned off in the menu "Options/Preferences". Added a new launch screen. Whenever DigiFix starts, a start screen is presented. At this point, you can continue to launch DigiFix by tapping the screen or pressing the "Up" button. In addition, you can actually launch the built in calibration program (the one normally found in the prefs panel) by pressing the "Down" button. PowerOn and HotSync restore available from OS 3.0 up. In version 1.0 of DigiFix, the PowerOn and HotSync restore features were only available to those with OS 3.5 and greater. Now, with the included "DigiFixHack", these features can be used in devices with OS 3.0 and up. Recalibrate by pushing "Up" button. You no longer need to tap the "Recalibrate" button by the main screen in order to launch a recalibration. You can just push the "Up" button and the calibration step will start. Color Support - DigiFix now includes full support for color devices. 1.0 - 10/15/2001 - Original Release KNOWN PROBLEMS - DigiFix will not yet correctly calibrate devices that have non-standard resolutions (i.e. not 160x160,320x320). These devices includes some of the Sony CLIEs and Handera models. However, you can still use DigiFix to launch the "Built-In" digitizer calibration program. So if your device is out-of-wack you can (at the very least) use digifix as a way to launch the built in calibration program. COMMENTS -Requires PalmOS 3.0 for autocalibration on soft reset. Requires PalmOS 3.5 for autocalibration on Power On or Hot Sync. CHANGE for v1.1: You can use the PowerOn and HotSync restore features without OS 3.5 if you also use the included "DigiFixHack". If you know what hacks are, great. If not, you should read up on them in the PalmGear FAQ. I've enclosed a good freeware hack manager, X-Master by LinkeSOFT. -This software is better than AutoDigi and OnDigi combined. This is the last tool needed for this digitizer problem. -The first time the program runs it will ask you to calibrate. -You can choose to have the calibration auto reload after a soft reset, hot sync, or power on. Unless you have specific problems, you probably just want to leave all these options on. -This utility will not fix problems that occur when the hardware consistently reports different "raw values" back to Palm. Replacing your Palm is the only real fix for this. PRICE Free. We think it really stinks that people (who have already had bad luck with their hardware) should have to pay for a fix in order to have a properly working Palm.
