3. MCC and MNC Configuration
 |
The Mobile Country Code (MCC)
and Mobile Network Code (MNC) are required for modifying
operator logos on your mobilephone. You can assign a different
logo for each operator you use. For example, if you frequently
roam between the French Itineris network and the UK Orange
network, you can program your phone so that it displays a logo
when you are on Itineris, and a different one when you are on
Orange. To identify wireless carriers, the GSM MoU uses the
MCC (one per country), and MNC (one per carrier per
country) .
We provide TWO distinct way
to set up the MCC and MNC for your favorite
operators.
Automatic
Configuration
- Run the "Insert Operator"
Applications. (which you installed when you installed
MNCMCC.PRC on your handheld).
- Select your Country from the
list of countries. Use the arrow on the right side of the
list to scroll between countries.
- When you have found your
country, TAP on the square box on the left of the country
name, then tap on the insert button to insert its info in
the MonkeyLogo database.
- You can now return to the
MonkeyLogo application !

3.2 Entering configuration by Hand
Multiple phone configurations are possible on a single copy of
MonkeyLogo. Simply enter additional operators and MCC/MNC
configurations in the setup area.
Finally, to configure your operator services for all the
different operators you might have (if you have several phones),
go to "options" then "operator settings" and enter your name, then
your MMC (mobile county code), and MNC (mobile national code). We
have provided a drop down menu including codes for several
countries, but if you are unable to locate yours, contact your
mobile service provider. If you are adding a new MMC/MNC
combination, press the "add" button to activate this
information.Layout of the MonkeyLogo Editor screenAt the
top of the edit screen you can name you Logo in the title entry
line. Located beneath the title there is a tool bar. Directly
under that is the "drawing" box where you actually use the screen
to do you editing/creating, and below that is another box which
gives you overview of the Logo. To the left of the overview box is
a magnifying glass for zooming in on an area. To the right of the
overview box are arrows for moving the logo around in the drawing
box. And at the very bottom are the 3 function boxes for Saving
(Save), exiting the editor (Cancel), and Deleting (Delete).
When you open MonkeyLogo from the main screen choose "new", to
start building your personal Logo. Once on the builder/editor
screen you have some "functions" in the toolbar used to build your
Logo.Creating a New LogoYou will not use the graffiti pad
to create your Logo; you will draw directly in the box on the
screen.First you can enter a name in for your Logo, the default
name will appear as "name not set". Just use the Graffiti pad to
enter a title for you Logo. Then use the toolbar to draw, erase,
block, or shift the position of the Logo.
- Drawing with the pen (1st box)- to make a dot,
simply tap the screen, to erase the dot tap it again in the
exact same place. To draw a line drag the stylus in a straight
line and you will see it appear in the Logo Box.
- The eraser (2nd box)- use the eraser to take away
any marks, lines or shapes as you run the stylus over them. This
is most effective to use when you are erasing a large area, for
detailed areas, just tap the pixel you want to erase.
- Shading (creating block) (3rd box) To use this
begin in any area of the Logo Box using the stylus pen and while
maintaining contact with the screen move vertical or horizontal
until you have covered the desired area. Use this option if you
would like to have a solid background. To complete the process
simply put your stylus away from the surface and you will have a
shaded area.
- Shifting/Stretching/retracting (last 4 boxes) The best way
to understand how the shift buttons work is try drawing a circle
then choose any of the shift buttons and tap in the center of
your circle. It basically will expand or contract the overall
size and shape of your Logo. These buttons are handy if you are
tying to create a symmetrical logo.
Zooming in on Logo for detailThere is also a button to "zoom"
in on the area you are working on. This will give you the ability
to put greater detail into your design. To use this function,
click on the magnifying glass icon and then you will see a box
appear in the bottom overview of your Logo. You can then use the
arrows to locate the specific area you choose to detail.Editing
a previously created LogoFrom the main screen highlight the
logo and then choose Edit. From there, simply follow the steps
from "Creating a Logo". Remember, if you don’t save an edit under
a different name you will lose the original. In turn, if you
forget to save your changes, the Logo will automatically revert
back to the original.Sending the LogoTo send a Logo you
have created, make sure everything has been configured properly
(from the set up section of this manual), then select the logo you
wish to send. Once you have chosen the logo, hit the send button.
You then enter the phone number you want to send it to, or you can
send it to someone in your address book by clicking the "phone"
icon. This is located to the right of where you enter the phone
number. Copying a LogoIf you have a Logo that you would
like to keep but make modifications to it, you can copy it.
Highlight the logo you wish to copy, then go to the drop down menu
and choose "copy icon". This will take you to the edit Logo screen
where you can make your changes. If you don’t make any changes,
you will have two of the exact same logos. You can then return to
the program later, modify it and save your changes under a
different name. If you copy a logo on accident, just delete the
extra logo. Information and HelpIf you see an icon
that looks like a circle with an "I" in the middle that means you
can get some information by tapping on the "I". This information
is brief, but helpful in the event that you are unable to access
the detailed MonkeyLogo manual. The icon is usually located in the
upper right hand corner of the screen or drop down box. Beaming
a Logo
Select the Logo you want to send from the List, Tap the "menu"
silkscreen button (or tap once on the application name, if you are
using PalmOS 3.5), then select "BEAM Logo". Line up the two Palm's
infrared port (as for beaming), your logo will be transferred to
your friend's Palm. Your friend will need to have MonkeyLogo
installed to view or edit it.
