What's in an icon file? A bunch of colored pixels. Actually, an ICO file may contain several formats within it; 16x16, 32x32, and 48x48 are the three most popular dimensions. Swing by IMPACTSOFT.COM to pick up Microangelo if you want to do more with these little beauties. Care to just look at 'em? Fine. I used to get frustrated when I'd open the Windows Explorer and find icons scattered all over the place. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is annoyed by horizontal scrollbars. While you're browsing a system disk (like the "C" drive), right-click in an empty area, select the "Arrange Icons" cascade menu, and be sure there's a checkmark next to the "Auto Arrange" option. If not, click it to toggle the feature. To save this view as Explorer's default, you'll need to open the "Tools" menu and pull up the "Folder Options" dialog. Under the "View" tab, press the "Like Current Folder" button. Now, no matter how large or small your Explorer windows are, their icons should line up nicely (automatically). There's no good reason you should have this option turned off.
