At a command prompt,
you have the option to use what they call "switches" with programs. When you're
in Windows, however, it's a bit more difficult to do that directly with Program
files. You can edit a shortcut to a program and add switches to that, but if
you'd rather add switches when you run the actual program, use Parameteriser
(http://krapplets.cream.org/parameteriser.html).
Many programs have undocumented command line switches; be sure to check the
documentation for those you'd like to configure.
