Safari Icon   Opening web pages

Safari provides several ways to opens web pages.

Safari is set up to open the home page specified in Internet preferences when you open it or create a new window.

To open a web page, type its address in the text box in the Address bar and press Return. You can also click links or bookmarks.

Bookmarks appear in the Bookmarks bar, the Bookmarks menu, and the All Bookmarks view. If an Item in the Bookmarks bar has a triangle next to it, then it's a collection of bookmarks. Click it to see the bookmarks in contains, the choose one from the menu.

After you open a page, you can open it again by typing part of the address. Safari completes the address or shows a list of matching addresses. If you see a list, use the arrow keys to select an address. Press Return to open the page.

To open a web page in a new window, hold down the Command key and click the link or bookmark.

If the page you want to open is on your hard disk or a file server, choose Open File from the the File menu.

If you set Safari as your default web browser, it opens web pages when you click links in other programs, such as Mail messages, or when you double-click the icons of Web Internet Location files.

You can also open web pages from other documents by selecting the URL and choosing Services from the application menu, then choose Open URL in Safari.

If you want to download the source of a link, hold down the Option key and click the link.
