The parameter "Maximal level of difference", at which images are still considered as identical ones, specifies the basic criterion of comparison (in percentage; 0% means very similar images from the point of view of the program). The recommended limit of values is [0-15]%. It is established by practice, that the optimal value is 11% (the default value). I do not recommend to depart too far from it. The program can consider all the gallery images as similar ones as a result of setting too large values (more than 20%). The value of the given parameter can also be changed via the comparison dialog (step 3).

The group of parameters "Use for image viewing" specifies, what viewer should be started at double click on a thumbnail. It is possible to assign a concrete viewer, to establish starting the program registered in the system for the given file type, or to set the internal viewer (the latter displays thumbnails only).

The group of parameters "Log file" controls maintenance of the log file of the program. Logging is turned off by default. At detection of a bug in ImageDupeless it is recommended to turn on maintenance of the detailed log file and to send it together with the bug description to the author.

The parameter "Show images during search and comparison" specifies, whether the images should be displayed in the appropriate dialogs (it can be set also directly in them) at reading and comparison images. It certainly improves interactivity, but slows down substantial work for dozens of percents. It is turned on by default. Don't turn it on if your computer is weak.

The parameter "Require approval at removal of a file" specifies, whether a warning should be displayed at removal of images from the gallery. It is turned on by default (in order to prevent casual removal).

The parameter "Ignore the READ-ONLY attribute" specifies, whether the image files marked as read-only should be deleted straight away or after the appropriate approval. It is turned off by default (in order to prevent casual removal).

The parameter "Put deleted files in Recycle Bin" specifies, whether the image files should be deleted irretrievably or moved into Windows Recycle Bin. It is turned off by default.

The group of parameters "Show in the thumbnail window:" controls what particular information will be displayed on thumbnails of the similar images. Displaying file names and image resolutions is turned on by default.

The parameter "Read GIF files" specifies, whether GIF images should be read out and included into the gallery. It is turned on by default. It is recommended to turn off it only when the program crashes at reading GIF (it is possible as a result bugs in used free libraries for reading images).

The parameter "Store thumbnails in gallery files" specifies, whether thumbnails for images should be stored in gallery files. It is turned on by default. If you wish to use a gallery in off-line mode, you must turn on this parameter before creation of the gallery, which allows to look through the galleries even if the source image files are absent on a disk. However when this parameter is turned off process of gallery creation is performed 2-2.5 times faster, and size of the gallery file and expences of RAM are reduced as much as 3 times, but you will pay for this by absence of thumbnails in the left pane at inaccessibility of image files or by low speed of displaying thumbnails of the duplicates or the images of the gallery at their presence. This option has no influence on quality of search of duplicates. If you prefer to store your image collections on compact discs, you should turn on this parameter. If you prefer to put the images on a hard disk, at that the size of your collection makes several gigabytes, and the size of RAM is 128Mb (or less), we strongly recommend to turn off the given parameter at work.

The parameters "Store list of duplicates in gallery files" and "Store user list of unlike images in gallery files" specify, whether result of the last search of duplicates and the user-defined list of unlike images correspondingly should be stored in gallery files. This is possible only in the registered version of the program. They are turned off by default.
