  • Go to My computer.

  • Next go to Dial-Up Networking .

  • Click with the right mouse button on World Online. Choose Properties from the menu.

  • Next, click Configure.

  • Click the Connection tab.

  • Click Advanced.

  • Click (if possible) the option Compress Data from the left and enter the init string AT&F&C1&D2B0 under extra settings. You can use both capitals or small letters here. Next, click OK and OK once more.

  • In this screen click the Server Types tab.

  • Uncheck all options, except for ''TCP/IP'. Next click Settings behind TCP/IP.

  • Uncheck IP-header compression. Close all screens by clicking OK. You should get a full 56k connection now.
  • If it still does not work, you may try to use a different access point (e.g. X2). If the speed is still too low, this may be caused by the phone line.
If a connection between 33K6 and 56K can be made, there may be noise on the line. This can be caused by different devices that are connected to the phone line, or by the quality of the line itself.
  • Finally, if you use a 56K access point and can not connect at a speed faster than 33K6, the modem driver may not be suitable, or the PTT exchange does not allow for it. You can contact the PTT about this under number 06-0404. They are able to measure the line for you (usually at a charge).
