Quick Start

Here is the procedure to make eye-catching logos in four easy steps. Let's go!

Step 1. Select Logo Design

Run the Logo Cre8or program. Select a template. Go to the 'Templates' menu and choose 'Select template' (Ctrl+T). Choose a desired template (it will be displayed in the Template Preview area).

Step 2. Change the text

To change a text string in the Logo select a text object in the Logo Area and enter the new text in the Object Area. To add a new text string click on 'Add new text' button and type your text in the Object Area. Select a text format (font, style, and size of the font), place it wherever you want (moving it with the mouse).

Step 3. Select effects

You can easily change the logo background color (menu 'Objects/Background color'), rotate images ('rotation' bar in the Object Area) and texts ('Rotation' and 'Circle placement' bars).

On the 'Effects' tab, in the Object Area, shadow parameters can be specified.

On the 'Color' tab some color effects (outline for text, transparency for image) can be specified.

Step 4. Save your results

After all objects are placed into your logo so that they meet your requirements, export the logo.

You can export it into one of the four available formats: BMP, JPG, GIF or PNG using the 'Export' menu. When saving to the JPG format, you will be prompted to set the JPEG quality after entering an output file name and pressing OK.

Congratulations! Your logo is complete!

Template Selection

Templates are predefined logos. They are divided into groups.

To create a new logo using a template first select a template using the 'Templates' menu. Highlight a template name and click the 'Apply' button. The selected logo will appear in the Logo Area.

Adding and Deleting Text

To add a text string to a logo press 'Add new text'. Several text strings can be added to a logo. To delete a text string select it and press 'Delete object' or choose 'Delete' in the 'Objects' menu.

Adding and Deleting Images

To add an image press 'Add new image' and select an image file from your hard drive. To delete an image select it and press 'Delete object' or choose 'Delete' in the 'Objects' menu.

Selecting Objects

An object is any text string or image on a logo.

There are two ways of selecting an object: it can be selected with a mouse (by clicking on it in the Logo Area) or via the 'Objects' menu where all objects are listed (see the 'Text' and 'Image' submenus).

Text Editing

To edit text select the text string on the logo and enter new text into the text box located in the Object Area (on the 'Format' tab).

Text Properties

Logo Cre8or allows you to change various text properties. To change properties of a text string first select it. Its properties will appear in the Object Area.

On the 'Format' tab you can change the following properties:

On the 'Color' tab you can specify text color, transparency, and gradient.

On the 'Effects' tab you can adjust shadow and outline properties:

Image Properties

To change the properties of an image first select it. Its properties will appear in the Object Area.

On the 'Format' tab you can change the following properties:

On the 'Color' tab you can specify image transparency, color, and gradient.

On the 'Effects' tab you can add or change a shadow's properties. To add a shadow to an image check 'Enable' in the 'Shadow' area. Then adjust its opacity, blur, color, and offset.

Gradient

Logo Cre8or has the ability to add a gradient color to text strings and images.

There are two types of gradient colors: linear and radial. To add a gradient check 'Enable' in the Gradient area. The gradient area is on the 'Color' tab.

A gradient is created by selecting two colors (start and end).

With a linear gradient you can change the angle of the gradient. This option is not available on a radial gradient.

Object Location and Order

You can align objects in a logo by moving them with your mouse or by entering the 'X' and 'Y' values in the 'Object' area on the 'Format' tab.

The order of objects can also be changed - this is important when objects overlap each other. By default the last created object is on top of the others. To change an object's order right-click on it; a menu will appear. Select one of the following actions in the menu:

When you right-click on the uppermost object the first two menu items will be grayed out (disabled). Also, when you right-click on the undermost object, the last two menu items will be grayed out.

To pull an object up that is hidden behind other objects, change the order of the objects above it. Simply move them all backward and the hidden object will eventually appear on top. Another option to make a hidden object visible is to move the object by selecting it via the 'Objects' menu and entering a new position manually in 'X' and 'Y' fields. Once it is moved to a place where it is visible you can adjust it’s order.

Export

Logo Cre8or has the ability to save your logo in different formats. To save your work just choose the appropriate item in the 'Export' menu (BMP, GIF, JPG or PNG).

GIF format. This format combines high quality and a small file size. GIF has no more than 256 colors, so it is not good for logos which use full-color images (for example, photos).

JPG format. This format is widely used on the web. Logo Cre8or will let you to set JPG compression. Higher quality will result in a larger file, lower quality - smaller. Default quality is a common compromise between file size and image quality.

PNG format. PNG is an extensible lossless file format for the portable, well-compressed raster images.

BMP format. This format is a simple bitmap file, with no compression at all.

You can control the exported quality when saving to the JPG or GIF format. In JPG simply select a compression level, in GIF - select the number of resulting colors in the image. Decreasing the number of colors in a GIF or the JPG quality value causes a decrease in the exported file size. A special window will appear to help you estimate resulting image quality and file size.

Templates install/uninstall

To install a template open the 'Templates' menu and select 'Install'. Next open a RAR file containing a template.

To uninstall a template highlight it in the Templates selection window ('Templates/Select template'), click the right mouse button on it, and select 'Delete'.
