Settings

This command lets you configure MySoundStudio.

The Record tab

Channels

Determines whether mono or stereo channels to use on recoding.

The Attributes tab

Sample Rate, Bit Depth

The Attributes tab is used to set the sample rate and bit depth values to apply to the new multi-track window.

The Temp File tab

Temporary Storage Folder

Determines the place to store the temporary file created while working. By default, MySoundStudio stores temporary files in the Temp folder located in the folder as MySoundStudio program is installed.



If there is more than one hard disk drive installed on your computer, you may want to select the drive with the larger disk space. Also selecting the faster drive may increase the performance.

The View tab

The View tab is used to specify the settings related to the screen display.

Wave Form

Determines the performance of the waveform view.

Reset tool window position to default

Resets the floating windows such as the Controller window to the default position.

The Output Sound Device tab
WaveOut Uses Windows standard WaveOut function during playback.
DirectSound Uses Windows standard WaveOut function during playback.
* Windows NT 4.0 does not support audio playback using DirectSound.

WaveOut

Sound Device Lists available sound devices that support WaveOut function.
Sound Buffer Size Determines how long region of memory is allocated at a time to hold sound data on playback.
Number of Sound Buffer Determines the number of regions set in the Sound Buffer Size option.

The sound buffer regions that can be used at a time are represented in seconds achieved by Sound Buffer Size x Number of Sound Buffer. If you hear sound "skip" during playback, you can solve such problem by adjusting these values.

DirectSound

Sound Device Lists available sound devices that support DirectSound.
Sound Buffer Size Determines how long region of memory is allocated at a time to hold sound data on playback.

If you hear sound "skip" during playback, you can solve such problem by adjusting the value for Sound Buffer Size. If you have trouble with playing audio, please refer to Troubleshooting.

* Windows NT 4.0 does not support audio playback using DirectSound.
The Input Sound Device tab
Sets options for recording audio. Recording will be processed using WaveIn, the Windows' standard recording function. The recording scheme using DirectSound is not available.


Sound Device Lists available sound devices that support WaveIn function.
Sound Buffer Size Determines how long region of memory is allocated at a time to hold sound data on recording.
Offset If you record sound with the Record While Playing feature enabled, time gap may occur between recorded sound data and the sound data on the track played back. The amount of the gap varies by the configuration of the machine. By setting expected gap time here, you can avoid the gap between recording track and playback track when you perform recording with Record While Playing enabled.

If you hear sound "skip" during recording, you can solve such problem by adjusting the value for Sound Buffer Size. If you have trouble with playing audio, please refer to Troubleshooting.

The Effect tab


Preview Time on Effects

Determines how long you want to preview the effect when you click the Preview button in the dialog box for the effect for which the real time preview is not available.
