Tables

In HTML a Table allows advanced page layout. With a table you are able to split a part of the page content into several columns and/or rows. See the sample site provided with SiteGenWiz installation for some examples where tables are useful. In HTML, tables are often used as transparent (invisible) tables for layout purposes: See chapter transparent tables below.

Use these entries:

  • Table: insert a table or edit settings for a table
  • Table Row: insert or delete a table row or edit its settings
  • Table Column: insert or delete a table column or edit its settings
  • Table Cell: edit settings for the selected table cells

Transparent tables

Transparent tables have border width set to 0. This makes it possible to split a part of the page into sections without seeing the table used to achieve the layout - e.g. the header of this manual uses a table to position the text and images (first column contains

'Build with Enersoft SiteGenWiz Platinum', second 'Enersoft SiteGenWiz Internet Site Builder and the third one contains the Enersoft image).

Tips when working with transparent tables:

  • While editing, select a border width of 1 to see the table and set it to zero when finished. This way it's easier to edit the table and its content (set this option in dialog table).
  • For transparent tables you may want to set cell padding to 0 because you don't need cells to be padded when there's no border (set this option in dialog table).
  • Consider to define table width in % and not in pixels - e.g. the table in the header of this manual uses a width of 100% (so the whole width of the header is used no matter of the dimensions of the browser window. This way you make sure, that an image that should be at the right margin always is placed there).
