What are the limitations of Ozone Free?

With Ozone Free you select from a limited set of presets that are labeled "Ozone Free". The limitation in Ozone Free is that you can *only* select from those presets. You can't customize the sound beyond that or assign presets to specific songs. You'll be reminded of this with a message box if you try to use a control that isn't supported in Ozone Free. On the other hand, Ozone Free isn't a demo that expires after a few days. It's limited compared to the full version of Ozone, but it's yours forever. 

What can the full version do and how can I get it?

If you like the sound of Ozone Free but wish you could adjust it to your own taste, you need the full version of Ozone. Here are some of the things you can do with the full version of Ozone:

Shape the sound
		Shape the overall response of the sound with a  completely customizable visual equalizer.  Where poorly designed equalizers do more harm than good by causing distortion and phase problems, the equalizer in Ozone is carefully designed to provide a smooth sound reminiscent of classic Valve Equalizers.
Adjust the Bass
		Adjust the warmth and low end punch to your music with tube compressor controls. Use the simple mode or the advanced mode. Either way you can season the bass to taste.
Customize the Space
		You have a completely customizable room simulator that lets you put your music in a great sounding natural listening space. Control how big the sound is, how bright the room is, and even how wide apart the walls are.
Add Sparkle and Fidelity
		MP3s and older recordings can sound muffled and dull when played back on standard systems. Analog modeling lets you restore the sparkle and fidelity of the original recordings.
Add Depth
		You can bring out the fullness of your music with tube amplifier controls. Just adjust one control to bring out all the things you've been missing in your music. Make it louder without distorting. Or just bring out the subtle dynamics of your music. It's your choice.
Add Width
		Whether you're listening on a laptop, headphones, or a good speaker system, Ozone lets you enhance the width and imaging of your recordings.
Select from over One Hundred Presets
		Ozone makes it easy to customize the sound for your listening taste, but we realize that there are people who don't care to tweak settings. The full version of Ozone gives you access to over one hundred additional presets, from general enhancement to special effects to artist specific settings. 		Ozone can automatically load a preset when specific songs are played. Forget about playlists where each song sounds louder or softer or bassier than the previous one. With Ozone you can make it all just flow together.

FAQ regarding Ozone, iZotope, and Things Related...

Does Ozone use more CPU than other Winamp plug-ins?
Yes. Ozone performs thousands of calculations per second. It's highly optimized, but compared to your typical Winamp DSP plug-in with 5 controls or so, well, let's just say that Ferraris use more gas than Hondas ;-)

Is there any spyware in Ozone?
No. None. Nothing. Not in the free version and not in the full version. Thanks for asking though, because it gives us a chance to say how much we hate spyware. 

You guys did iZotope Vinyl. Is there any similarity to Ozone?
Both use analog modeling, but for completely different end results. iZotope Vinyl makes music sound "old bad". (scratchy, dusty, noisy... like an old record player). Ozone makes music sound "vintage good" (warm, deep, full...like a classic tube hi-fi system).

Winamp is free. The full version of Ozone should be free.
That's technically a statement as opposed to a question, but...We loved making Ozone. We love hearing from people who bought the full version and love it. We wish we could give it to everyone for free.

So why don't we? We're a small company trying to get started. We're trying to create a company that has a balance of really great free products and enough commercial (paid for) products so we can afford to do this full time and, therefore, keep making great free and commercial products.

We rang up several thousand dollars of credit card bills for software tools alone to make Ozone. Sure, we could have done without the CPU optimizer tools and graphics tools and professional compilers, but then it wouldn't have been Ozone. Whatever we put out we want to be professional. So we insist on using professional (and paid for) tools, as well as committing ourselves full time to develop iZotope products.

We also look down on companies that make demo versions that nag you to death to buy something, have a demo that times out after a few days, and requires a few weeks on your part to try to get rid of all the useless bits they left on your computer. We wouldn't give them money, and we wouldn't expect you to buy anything from us if we did the same.

Use Ozone Free without guilt and without hassle. We sincerely hope you enjoy it. We also hope people support iZotope and purchase the full version of Ozone. Their support will allow us to keep making professional-quality free products -- and we have a lot of ideas for more cool products.
