Cut the lake out of the ground plane
A hole for the lake can now be created using the third terrain object. First, you must turn the terrain into a negative Boolean object. Then you'll 'cut' the shape out of the ground plane.
To create a negative Boolean object
- With the third terrain still selected, click the Edit attributes button.
- Enable the Negative option.
- Click OK.
The terrain object is now highlighted with dotted lines, which signify its negative boolean state.
To create the lake
- Ensure that the Wireframe underground button
on the Advanced display palette is on.
- Select the terrain, and drag down until its square base is just above the ground plane. Watch the Nano-preview window to track your progress.
Click here to see what the lowered terrain should look like.
To group the terrains
- Press Command\Control + A to select all of the terrains.
- Click the Group button.
- Click the Render button to view your scene.
