Create and manipulate Metaballs

To make the dragonfly, you'll first create, resize, and reposition a series of small Metaballs for the insect's body.

  1. On the Create palette, click the Metaball tool.
  2. Click the Edit attributes button Lets you edit the attributes of the object located to the right of the Metaball.
  3. In the Object attributes dialog box, change the X, Y, and Z size settings to 10, 10, 10.
  4. Click OK OK button to close the dialog box and apply the changes.
  5. Press Command\Control + D nine times to duplicate the resized Metaball nine times. The new Metaballs will be created directly on top of the first Metaball.
  6. Drag the Metaballs to reposition them. Line them up horizonally and overlap them slightly.
