Create Boolean objects
In Lesson three, you'll add some interest to the foreground of the scene by creating a lake. You'll use a negative Boolean operation to 'cut' a hole in the ground plane. The negative Boolean operation requires a positive object and a negative object. When these are grouped together, the shape of the negative object is cut out of the positive object.
To set the landscape as a positive Boolean object
- Click the Display modes icon
on the Advanced display palette to switch from Bitmap display mode to Wireframe display mode.
- Press Command\Control + A to select the terrains and the ground plane.
- Click the Edit attributes button
, located on the right side of the object, and enable the Positive option.
To group the terrains
- Click the Group objects button
, located to the right of the object.
- Click the Edit attributes button, and enable the Positive option again.
- Click OK
.
