CONTENTS
The instructions below are short and condensed. I'll add a more complete help to future versions.
1. Introduction
Doublet Scan 10 is the most advanced program available to take advantage of the latest OS X technologies to find any kind of duplicates on your volumes. Doublet Scan 10 is an evolution, completely redesigned and rewritten, of the older Doublet Scan that was designed for the Classic Mac OS and successively adapted for OS X.
Doublet Scan 10 allows you to search for duplicate files by name, creation date, modified date, size, type, creator, extension, contents and more. In addition, this new version looks for MP3 duplicates by their tags: song name, artist, album, genre, year and content.
Doublet Scan 10 can manage your folders: automatically you can look for your empty folders, invisible folders, their contents and more.
As with the older version, you can also find any unique files that you have on your volumes.
Also, Doublet Scan 10 allows you to create dozens of combinations of criteria with which to search.
Now you can export the search results as text files too!
Doublet Scan 10 is very easy to use. You can do all of your work in just two steps:
Load the directory of your hard disks and Scan for duplicate items.
In a flash, you'll be able to choose among all the found items what you want to eliminate and move them to the trash or to other places that you choose!

3. Working with the found list
After the scan is finished and you have the list of found items, that shows all items that have the same criteria you have chosen, you can mark and/or select the items to move to the trash or to another place. The designated items can be moved using, if selected, both the "move... selection" items that is in the contextual menu of the main list or, if they are marked, any other appropriate menu items.
The items moved to the trash are not deleted: they are only moved to the trash!
If you haven't made other operations in the Finder, you can go to the Finder and choose "Undo" item from the "Edit" menu to undo the last operation.
4. Hints & Tips
With the spacebar you can quickly mark/unmark the selected item(s).
Look for the information that appears, after a brief pause, under the cursor in some of the menu items... or in the label buttons.
5. Registration info
SHAREWARE $30.
Doublet Scan 10 is distributed as SHAREWARE:
if you use Doublet Scan 10 you should pay the author.
Doublet Scan 10 has the following pricing.
1 license, $30 per user
A Site License costs $600 (roughly equal to 20 users) and covers all locations for your organization within a 160 kilometer radius of your site (100 miles). One big advantage of a Site License is that you do not need to keep track of how many people at your site are using the software.
A World-Wide License costs $1200 and it covers all locations for your organization on the planet earth.
Paying for Doublet Scan 10 is fairly simple. Open the Register program that accompanies Doublet Scan 10. Enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire for each program you wish to purchase (or Site or Word-Wide licenses). Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi. More specific information can be found on the Registration Form. Kagi handles my payment processing.
If paying by Credit Card, you can register online at: http://order.kagi.com/?V9B
or email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is 1-510-652-6589. You can either Copy the data from the Register program and paste it into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via email are processed within 7 business days. You will receive an email acknowledgement when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email
acknowledgement.
If you are paying by Check you should print the data using the Register application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:
Kagi
1442-A Walnut Street #392-V9B
Berkeley, California 94709-1405
USA
You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical.
If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the Register
program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the
form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment.
Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on my behalf and generate the
invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.
Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Check or Invoice as the
payment method. As far as we know, there is still no technology to transfer physical
objects via fax or email and without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
Payments sent via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for
processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
Notice: as soon as I receive the confirmation of your payment, you will receive the serial number via e-mail with additional information about where you can download the latest release.
