Adjusting the Flash and Backlighting

Overview

This tutorial will show you how to adjust the flash and backlighting of an image to bring out the image details. The tutorial uses the "Flash_Backlight_Adjustment.jpg" image located in the Samples album. To print this tutorial, click the Print button on the help window.

The tasks you will perform in this tutorial are:

Adjust the Flash and Backlighting

  1. On the Browse tab, navigate to the samples album located in C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Photo Album\ Samples.

  1. Double-click the image Flash_Backlight_Adjustment.jpg to open it in the Image View window.

  2. Choose Image > Adjust to open the Adjust dialog, click the Flash/Backlight tab.

A preview of the image displays on the right side of the dialog. The left side of the window displays the original image, while the right side displays the corrected image. Drag the preview slider to view more or less of the image with the correction.

  1. Drag the Add Flash slider to add more flash to the image.

  2. Drag the Reduce Backlighting slider to reduce the brightness of the light in the background of the image.
