Day 184 - 06 Nov 95 - Page 26

  Q. It was sometimes longer than that?
       A. Sometimes I would get more than 40 hours a week, yes.

  Q. What was the most you would work?
       A. In one pay cheque I had 96 hours, one of my pay cheques
       while working at McDonald's.

  Q. Is that for two weeks or one week?
       A. Yes, for two weeks.

  Q. Did you get overtime pay when you worked those extra
hours? Did you get paid overtime?
       A. I think so because you get -- it says "regular pay" and
then it says "OVT" pay so -- and it would be a different
amount -- so they would add the two of them together and
you would get the net sum.

  Q. Is that the law in Canada, do you know?
       A. I do not know.

  Q. So is it rare for people at McDonald's in Canada -- in your
store to work over 40 hours a week?
       A. During what time?

  Q. Any time. I mean, I am talking about -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: With a climate like Ontario, I can imagine
there might be rather different hours in the middle of the
winter from the middle of summer; is that right?
       A. Yes, we are one of the busiest stores. Orangeville is
one of the busiest stores in the summer time because
everybody is going to their cottage. Because we are up
north and in the winter time, we are dead compared to the
summer time. We are so slow. So, there is more hours to
give out and so people are getting more hours in the summer
time in comparison to the winter time.

  MR. MORRIS: Anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is Orangeville a town of its own? It is
outside Toronto, is it, north of Toronto?
       A. It is about an hour north of Toronto and it is our own
little town and there is, like, little towns surrounding
ours. So Brampton is half an hour away, Newmarket, like,
all the big cities are about an hour away, half an hour to
       an hour away.

  Q. How many high schools, for instance are there in
       Orangeville?
       A. Just one.

  Q. Just one?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Does Cam Ballantyne own any other stores,
       McDonald's stores?
       A. I do not think so.

  Q. Just runs that one store?
