Day 263 - 14 Jun 96 - Page 53
A. I cannot recollect, I am afraid.

Q. I am going to show you a report shortly of that meeting.
Do you remember who showed you a photograph by which you
were enabled to identify Mr. Morris when you went to the
meeting?
A. Yes, Mr. Hartley, the managing director of Kings.

Q. Was it that photograph that I have just shown you or some
other photograph, do you think?
A. I am sorry, I cannot be sure. I think it would have
been a different one. I have a feeling it was a different
picture.

Q. You can put away the photograph album and take back your
statement. In paragraph 6, "Dave Morris, who had
previously been described to me and identified by
photographs, and who arrived at 9 p.m." So he arrived
about an hour after the meeting began, did he?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you remember that?
A. Yes, I do.

Q. You say, "[He] spoke of the annual Mail Out by London
Greenpeace to other interested groups" and so on and so
forth. You said that he -- I take it it was him --
"Publicity would be given to such matters as International
Anti-McDonald's Day on 16th October 1990."
A. Yes.

Q. That was Mr. Morris, was it?
A. Yes.

Q. You say next, "Dave Morris then suggested that members
might give thought to going to Moscow on 16th October 1990
to demonstrate outside the new branch of McDonald's there.
He said that the cost of the trip would be a problem unless
the group obtained some sponsorship. This proposal
received only moderate interest but Dave Morris continued
by saying that, since Chernobyl, the Russians were becoming
increasingly interested in ecological and environmental
issues. Finally he said that the international Mail Out
would include the customary McDonald's Factsheet, a copy of
which I append to this statement marked 'JR1'". Are you
quite certain, in your own mind, that it was Mr. Morris
that said all those things?
A. Yes, I am.

Q. How is it that after six years, or so, you are able to feel
sure about that?
A. Because it was the custom of investigators working for
Kings to complete reports either the same day or the next
day or as soon after as possible. I took no notes there,
but I know that I would have compiled this very shortly
afterwards.

Q. I will show you the report in a moment, Mr. Russell. You
go on, "The meeting then continued in relation to the Fayre
and Dave Morris, by now controlling the proceedings, spoke
