Day 255 - 23 May 96 - Page 47

customer leaflet which you saw a draft of?
       A. I would take that as granted, yes, my Lord.

MR. MORRIS: Right. If we look at page -- just to confuse
matters more, actually you will not have it, between pages
       18 and 19, page 18?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Those present and those who received details were blanked
out by the Plaintiffs in this case, but we now know from a
recently disclosed copy of that page that the distribution
of what happened on 11th April 1994 included you. It says:
Distribution: Those present and Sid Nicholson, Martin
Campiche, Patti Brinley-Codd and James Maxwell. So you
were being kept informed, were you, of this series of
meetings even if you were not present at the meetings?
       A. Not all of them.

  Q. Some of them?
       A. A lot of these media people meet very, very regularly,
I would not get reports of those meetings. If I got a
copy, it was probably that they made a decision. Maybe it
was the one on which they sent out the final version, I do
       not know.

  Q. Those present, according to that document we have now been
give, which we can call 18 and a half, were Mike Love,
Eddie Bensilum, Robert Hill Richard Alwinkle and Robert
Laniun. Do you know who Robert Laniun was?
       A. No.

  Q. But, in any case, 3 of these 5 were McDonald's or their
       legal representatives?
       A. Mike Love ----

  Q. The majority, again, were not public relations.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Where are we going at the moment?

MR. MORRIS: I am trying to establish that from all the
information we have got, the majority of people at these
meetings were McDonald's people or their legal
       representatives.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But where do we go from there?

MR. MORRIS: Because they had to take full responsibility for
       what was discussed.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have not heard a word to suggest that
McDonald's do not accept that they were responsible for
       these meetings.

MR. RAMPTON: That would be so even if only the publicity people
were there, even if it was only the agent, Scope, they are
agents, and if they produce something on McDonald's
       behalf ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But I thought it was common ground. These
were put out on behalf of McDonald's, they pleaded the
