Day 195 - 04 Dec 95 - Page 47

  Q. So you would, what ----
       A. And Trudie Jones as well, sorry.

  Q. Where would you see this? You would be in the Manager's
office, would you, standing over their shoulders watching
       them do it?
       A. No, because in the back room we had a desk where the
Managers would sit and work, and I was doing the cleaning
up or washing up and I would have seen that happening.

  Q. You would be looking over the Manager's shoulder while he
       was -----
       A. It was literally about a metre away from where we were
working, and also you could see the clock cards were there
for everybody to see if they wanted to see it. They were
hung on the walls, so it would not have been difficult to
       see what was going on.

  Q. Can you turn to page 13, please?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The second complete sentence: "I was also told by the
Managers, but I am not entirely sure that I remember
correctly, that the target set for the store was 17 per
       cent"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Right? Which Manager told you that, do you remember? You
put it in the plural, you see?
       A. I do not remember, I am afraid.

  Q. You do not remember but you are sure of the figure, are
       you?
       A. No, I am not sure. I am saying that I am not entirely
sure that I remember that percentage correctly. I mean,
I do remember what actually happened, but what the target
was, I am not sure about.

  Q. What do you mean, you remember what actually happened?
       A. I mean, the percentage, labour percentage, being 12,
       13, 14 per cent.

  Q. You remember it being 12, 13; how do you know it was 12,
       13, 14 per cent -----
       A. I explained earlier, it was actually on the chart which
was stuck above the desk, the Manager's desk, downstairs
       again where he was working.

  Q. As a weekly target you are saying, are you?
       A. No, no, not as -- the actual figures were entered in
       the chart every night.

  Q. The achievement was entered in the chart, not the target?
       A. No, the achievement, what they had achieved.

  Q. Please turn to page 14.
       A. Yes.

  Q. You write -- it is after the manuscript bit ---
       A. Yes.
