MR. RAMPTON: That is very generous.

MR. MORRIS: You might as well take mine.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, I would like you to keep hold of yours.
Someone make a note of the pages and, if I do not have
copies now, make sure I get a photocopy tomorrow of the
pages referred to and the title page.

MR. MORRIS: I think behind Geoffrey Cannon there may be -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Leave it there, Mr. Morris. Tomorrow
morning either give me a photocopy of the facing pages and
such pages as Dr. Barnard refers to or, if it is somewhere
else, give me the reference to that.

MR. MORRIS: Do you want to take us to the pages?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Read out what it is.

THE WITNESS: If you do not mind, I have a copy at the desk.
Can I step down and pick that up because I have
highlighted a section? That may save a little bit of
time.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Give that copy back to Mr. Rampton.

THE WITNESS: Sorry, I did not bring it with me.

A. Sorry. All right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Have you found it?
A. Yes, I think I have the portion that I had intended to
draw the court's attention to. On page 5 -----

A. Yes, that is correct.

eminent research body in the United States. In 1982,
because there was very substantial evidence implicating a
range of dietary factors in the causation of cancer, the
National Research Council convened a committee to
summarise that information, particularly for the attention
of policy makers in the United States, but also to provide
a valuable document for researchers and to interested
members of the public.

I would just like to quote a summary paragraph very
briefly on page 5 in the section on "Fats".

The paragraph states: "The committee concluded that of
all the dietary components it studied, the combined
epidemiological and experimental evidence is most
suggestive for a causal relationship between fat intake
and the occurrence of cancer. Both epidemiological
