MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will take tomorrow as a preparation day
and then come to Mrs. Norris on Friday.

MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: She prefers to be called Mrs. Norris now.

MR. RAMPTON: She got married.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You may have her as Annette Hall. I would
have thought we could get through her comfortably on
Friday. In fact, we may have an early day.

There are two things I would like to say to you about your
employment witnesses. First of all, Mr. Morris has already
indicated that he will do his best to get witnesses for
Wednesday the 18th and Thursday the 19th. I probably do
not have to say to you that it is very much in your
interests to do so because if you have a number of
employment witnesses you are going to call you will
probably find it much easier to manage if they are put in
here and there rather than a steady stream of days with one
or two every day.

The second thing is the question of Monsieur Lamti as a
result of what Mr. Rampton said this morning. You do not
have to answer this question unless you want to do so, but
do you have direct contact with him yourself or is it
through someone else who is helping you with the French
side of things?

MR. MORRIS: Well, my French is not good enough but somebody is
acting as an intermediary. I do not want to give too many
details because I do not trust McDonald's one inch.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do not say any more than that. I think what
you have to think about is whether you make some enquiries
as to how Mr. Lamti sees his own position, particularly if
the French proceedings have started since his statement was
taken.

MR. MORRIS: Can we ask Mr. Rampton, through you, when the
proceedings were started?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you know?

MR. RAMPTON: I do not know, no, my Lord.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. All that occurs to me that it is
possible the statement was made and given to you before
there were such proceedings, whether or not Mr. Lamti is
legally represented and whether or not he knows about any
possible restraint on his giving evidence at all or not
I do not know. Nothing which Mr. Rampton has said,
supposing it is well-founded, has led me to believe that,
even if Mr. Lamti feels diffident about coming, you cannot
use his statement because you have got that.
