Day 192 - 27 Nov 95 - Page 29

       A. There was swing management involved with it.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, here, I think, Mr. Morris needs to
proceed with rather more care than he has so far. One
would need to know what the grounds of the witness's
knowledge or belief are, because I very much suspect that
       this is all hearsay.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest you do, Mr. Morris, is ask
Miss Inglis what she knows about the petition, and then we
can separate that which is permissible because she knows of
it of her own accord and that which is inadmissible because
she has been told it by someone else.

MR. MORRIS: Unless she was told it by management.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, it depends by whom.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): You said swing managers were
       involved?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Say who and say how you know.
       A. I know that Chris Broom was involved.

MR. MORRIS: I think that is accepted, anyway, by the
       Plaintiffs.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I think, if you have embarked on it,
you really may just as well ask how Miss Inglis knows, and
then we can see whether you can go further or not.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): How do you know about
       Chris Broom's involvement?
       A. Because I knew that he was on the anti-union side, and
I knew that him and Sabina and -- I was not quite sure that
Michelle was working with them at that time, and
Bonnie McLellan, a maintenance person, were involved.

  Q. Bonnie McLellan, she is -----
       A. She is a maintenance person there.

  Q. Is that a salaried position?
       A. Yes. They were involved in the petition; and I also
know that Bonnie McLellan and, I believe, Sabina Iurilla
dropped the letters off at the Labour Board. Because the
       petition was ------

  Q. Sorry, the letters or the petition?
       A. The petition is illegal. You cannot do that under
Bill 40 after we have applied for certification; you cannot
do it. So, I mean, the petition, it was no big thing.
Like, I know that Chris Broom was doing it, because people
had told me that, yes, he had asked people to sign. I also
know that Rob Pinkney -- which is totally illegal, because
he had asked people to join, because during the union -----

  Q. During the petition?
       A. To sign the petition.
