ever necessary between counsel and the same has to apply
between counsel and litigants in person.

MR. RAMPTON: Of course I accept that that which is
       provocative -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Obviously in the fray, as it were, of
litigation, things are said from time to time.

MR. RAMPTON: Not only that, my Lord. It is sometimes necessary
to say things rather than often necessary to say things
which may be provocative but which nevertheless it is
       necessary to say.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, we have been in this courtroom a long
time together, we are going to be here for many months
more, and anything which those conducting the case, either
counsel or the Defendants themselves, can do to keep the
temperature at a steady level showing some mutual respect
and courtesy is to be welcomed by me.

MR. RAMPTON: I fully understand that. I cannot guarantee that
there will not be times when, under provocation from
myself, I do not say something which the Defendants may
regard as provocative, but I will do my best to keep my
patience. There is a lot I am afraid -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am sure one gets the message. It does not
concern you at all, Mr. Bowes.

MR. RAMPTON: There is a lot necessarily in a case of this kind
which provokes intervention from me which would not be
necessary if the Defendants were legally represented.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have made my point.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I understand, of course I do.

Mr. Bowes, can you turn to the coloured brochure, please,
as there is something I forgot to ask you about before the
adjournment, and look at the page with the people in green
       suits?
       A. Yes, sir.

  Q. Below the people in green suits, there are some people
looking as though they are sitting in booths and it is said
that they are taste panel adjacent to the test kitchen
where quality and flavour are monitored. What exactly are
       they doing?
       A. We have two rules that are used in our taste panel
       area.

  Q. Can you bellow at me please?
       A. We have two rules that we have in our taste panel area
which is in our laboratories: One is what we call
       organoleptic testing of meat.

  Q. What is that?
       A. One has to visually inspect it to see it is acceptable
to the consumer. Obviously, one has the smell -- and there
