Day 260 - 11 Jun 96 - Page 55
kept in shelves on one side of the room?
A. Yes.

Q. They did not appear as though they had been brought there
specifically for the meetings, did they? That was because
it was the group's offices and the various leaflets were on
the shelves?
A. Yes, that is correct.

Q. Then, as you say, sometimes the longer version was not in
stock?
A. Yes.

Q. Then there were shorter versions. The shorter versions,
they were available all the time, were they?
A. To the best of my recollection.

Q. When you say that those present were encouraged to take a
number of the leaflets for distribution -- that is in
paragraph 13 -- would you agree that, basically, the
situation was that the leaflets were there; if people were
interested in any campaign, they would just help themselves
to leaflets and take the ones that they are interested in
to do as they wished with?
A. That is correct.

Q. The only other question I have got is about paragraph 5 of
the statement. When you talk about myself, Mr. Gravett and
Mr. Morris commenting on letters, you say "they had
received since the preceding meeting", what you are talking
about there is, basically, the letters that the group had
received and people in the meeting in general would comment
upon them?
A. They were letters that had been received at the
Caledonian address, yes, to the best of my knowledge.

Q. They were not letters just to the three of us?
A. Individuals did receive letters from -----

Q. From time to time?
A. From time to time, which they bought to the meetings.

Q. But what you are referring to there is just a general
London Greenpeace letters?
A. As far as I can recall, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you remember who the West Germany one was
addressed to or what it was addressed to?
A. The West German one, to the best of my knowledge, just
came to London Greenpeace at Caledonian Road; it was not
addressed to an individual.

MR. MORRIS: Just to clarify what the word "they" means. It is
ambiguous. It sounds like they were only commenting on
letters that they personally received as individuals, or
did you mean the group had received, they,
London Greenpeace, had received?
A. Well, I was unable to be specific whether they had been
received by the group or by those three individually.
