Day 208 - 24 Jan 96 - Page 36

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

MR. MORRIS: Coming on to grills, tripping out and problems
associated with that, grills have tripped out, have they
       not, on occasions?
       A. Very occasionally, yes.

  Q. Very occasionally.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Keep your voice up, please, Mr. Cox.

MR. MORRIS: That would happen if the RCD system broke down,
       would it not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You do not recall it happening, in your experience, more
than once or twice or a few times, or what? Once or twice
       you say; yes?
       A. Yes, I think so, as far as I can remember.

  Q. You can only remember once or twice. But the RCD system,
there was a problem with that, was there not, for months
and months after it was installed?
       A. I could not tell you.

  Q. You cannot remember?
       A. At the time, I would not have been involved in that
kind of -- dealing with problems of that nature.

  Q. Right.
       A. I could tell you what it was like -----

  Q. So you cannot remember the RCD system failing over a period
of six, eight or 10 months, something like that?
       A. Over a period of time, it would have failed a few
times, but it did not happen as a regular occurrence two or
three times a shift or two or three times a week, as far as
       I am aware.

  Q. But it failed a lot more times than once or twice, when you
       experienced the grills tripping out?
       A. Well -----

  Q. It was a problem with the RCD system, was it not, over a
       long period of time?
       A. I could not estimate the period of time that it was
       over.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What Mr. Morris has just put to you is that
the RCD system failed more frequently than the grills just
tripping out. Can you recall whether -- is that so,
according to your recollection, or not?
       A. I would not have said so, no.

MR. MORRIS: So far, we have heard evidence on this from
Sean Richards, and I believe the evidence he gave -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: May I just say, this is slightly what I was
getting on about before. You do not have to challenge a
       witness with another witness's evidence.
