Day 241 - 26 Apr 96 - Page 39
of grass has declined, as much as seven hectares per annum
may be required". Then it goes on. I just thought it
might be helpful to a decision about how much
responsibility McDonald's bore, depending on how many
stores they had and how much beef they sold; it might be
helpful. I think the other major parts of the book were
actually included in Mr. Shane's statement that we wanted
to rely on anyway, so there is probably no need to read it.
OK. Thank you.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Right, 2 o'clock.

(Luncheon Adjournment)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not know if Mr. Glen has already told
you but he has been led to believe, Mr. Morris, that your
other case has been taken out from the 2nd and 3rd May and
put in for the 23nd and 24th May.

MR. MORRIS: Right. Is that definite or-----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So Mr. Glen understands, but you must not
take it from me. You must find out from your own
solicitor. On the basis that turns out to be so, I will
not sit on those days in this case, so that you are free to
attend Central London. If you can, I suggest you go ahead
and make arrangements for Dr. Campbell on the 4th and 5th.

MS. STEEL: OK.

MR. MORRIS: Thank you very much.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If Mr. Preston can be re-established for
Friday the 10th, Mr. Atkinson, and keep Monday the 13th
available as well in case required I would be grateful.
I seem to remember that Mr. Rampton said something about
preferring it not to be one of the weeks at the end of the
May if possible, but there is a limit to how much one can
engineer.

MR. ATKINSON: Yes.

MS. STEEL: About what, not at the end of May?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Rampton said, when I said that I propose
to tell the court, the Central London Court, that if they
took any two days from Monday the 20th May onwards I would
work round that and not sit on those dates. I remember
Mr. Rampton said that he would prefer that if it were not
the week of Monday 20th or Monday -- I think it must be
Monday 20th but I might have misheard what he said and it
was only stated as a preference, I think.

MS. STEEL: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But there is no way now, Mr. Atkinson, I am
going to back to Central London to try and vary it, even if
it is inconvenient to any of the parties. They clearly
worked hard to try and fit in with us.
