MR. RAMPTON: What does it mean?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Say what you mean by "happyland".

MR. MORRIS: That is your position, is it not, that is the
Company's position? Everything is fine in the best of all
possible worlds; everyone is happy at McDonald's, working
at McDonald's?
A. I do not think McDonald's has ever professed to be a
perfect Company, and I have never said in the course of my
evidence that everything at Colchester was extremely rosy.
However, predominantly I remember it as most of the crew
members there were happy, the management were happy and
generally the store ran well.

Q. Nobody ever objected about low pay, even though they were
at or near the minimum wage?
A. Nobody came to me moaning about the rate of pay, no.

Q. Because they were all happy with their pay?
A. Nobody came to me mooning about the pay.

MS. STEEL: In paragraph 10 of your statement which is bundle
page 212 ---
A. Yes.

Q. -- you say that various pieces of equipment did
occasionally give small electric shocks to people. Which
pieces of equipment were they that you were referring to
there?
A. I was not referring to any specific piece of equipment,
but there was, I mean, there were toasters, grills, coffee
machines, a hot chocolate machine, drink towers, fry
station -- there is a large number of electrical appliances
within the kitchen that had the potential to give off an
electric shock. As I remember -----

Q. And did sometimes give off electric shocks?
A. Occasionally some of the small portable equipment --
I can remember odd instances of the portable equipment
giving people electric shocks, minor electric shocks.

Q. The toasters?
A. Yes.

Q. The fat filtering units?
A. I do not remember that specifically. I am not saying
it never ever gave anybody an electric shock, but I do not
specifically remember it.

Q. What electric shocks do you remember?
A. I remember the odd one off a toaster that was probably
the one I would remember.

Q. You only remember one specific incident?
A. I remember -- there may have been two or three during
my course of time at Colchester.

Q. It sounds as though you were aware over a period of time
