Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 58
Mr. Morris's absence or comparative absence over the months
concerned; is that right?
A. It is certainly consistent with his absence, yes,
my Lord.

MR. MORRIS: Right.

MS. STEEL: Sorry. If we go back to 2nd October. On the
second page of the notes of the meeting at Hackney and
Islington Animal Rights, you describe Paul, and say that he
was also a member of an organisation called
London Greenpeace, and you go on to say:

"He said immediately that this organisation was nothing at
all to do with the better known organisation of Greenpeace
International. He said that the group had formed in 1970
and when the group that is now Greenpeace International had
opened up a branch in the UK, London Greenpeace had not
wanted to be a part of them, and that while they were not
at war with each other, basically they had different
campaigns and the big international Greenpeace was not
concerned with the campaign against McDonald's." Yes?
A. That is right.

Q. In all the meetings that you attended, there was never any
attempt to sort of pretend that London Greenpeace was the
other Greenpeace, was there?
A. There was never an attempt to pretend. There were
occasions, however, when mail was received. I have to say,
most of the mail that was received that it was believed was
for Greenpeace International was forwarded to Greenpeace
International, but there were occasions where replies were
sent from London Greenpeace to people who had written to --
the people I spoke to, in their opinion, were wanting
Greenpeace International.

Q. The situation -- would you agree -- was, basically, if it
was clear that it was for Greenpeace International, the
letters would be sent on; if it just said "Greenpeace" and
it could have been either one, then generally they would be
dealt with by sending ---
A. That is -----

Q. -- general information?
A. As far as I remember, that is likely, yes. I do not
remember exactly which letters were opened and what was
written on the front of them. But, in general, there was
never a pretence that Greenpeace London had anything to do
with Greenpeace International.

MS. STEEL: OK. Thank you. If we then go on to 21st October,
please, if you find your notes of 21st October.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: 14.

MS. STEEL: On the second page, in the middle paragraph, you
say:

"The majority of the organisation of the day and certainly
any announcements were made by two people: firstly and
