Day 169 - 04 Oct 95 - Page 53

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is what comes out of that meeting what is the
project for the next year, or does it then go up higher
       still?
       A. It goes higher still but, for the most part, it is
accepted as being what should actually happen.

  Q. Just pause a moment because I want to check my note. When
you were talking a few moments ago about the Store Manager
and area Supervisor sitting down and projecting sales and
labour for the following 12 months, I thought you went on
to say after it was put to you that on a monthly basis
within the 12 months, I thought you said on a weekly basis
       within the 12 months?
       A. Yes, the Store Manager will project his sales and
labour per cent on a weekly basis.

  Q. Yes.
       A. But the Supervisor will be involved in the monthly
projections for the 12 months ahead.

  Q. When you are doing the 12 months project, that is split up
       into individual months?
       A. Yes.

  Q. When you were talking about scheduling for the week, that
is the Store Manager once he has got into that year?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Working out the week ahead?
       A. That is right; that is right.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

MR. MORRIS: Do you remember how many dismissals there were in
West Ealing between 1984 and 1985?
       A. No.

  Q. Or any specific dismissal?
       A. None, because that would be dealt with by the Store
Manager and the Supervisor, unless it was a line of appeal
where the person felt they had been unfairly dismissed and
it would have to come to me as an appeal hearing, and I did
not have any from West Ealing at all, in actual fact,
during the time I was senior Supervisor with the Company.

  Q. How many appeal hearings did you have regarding dismissals
or people within the Company disgruntled in your time as
Supervisor in the area -- as senior Supervisor in the
       1980s, approximately?
       A. I had ----

  Q. For all the stores?
       A. Sorry?

  Q. For all the stores. Just a general total?
       A. Yes. I had one that actually came to the appeal that
was set up and I had two females that had requested to be
seen as an appeal procedure. I set up a time and a date.
They did not turn up for that one, and I set another time
