Day 059 - 01 Dec 94 - Page 60

  Q. Well, you are the senior Vice President, surely you would
       know something like that?
       A. No, I would not. I cannot be responsible to know what
happens on every committee and every task force, unless
I am told or I ask about a particular subject.

  Q. Was this not something that would affect your department?
       A. I do not think it did directly.

  Q. Right, OK. So, you would not know when it was adopted by
       the company?
       A. No. I think this is something that you should ask
Perseco, because in terms of packaging they act on our
       behalf.

  Q. Can I just ask, Mr. Mike Matthews, it says, is the manager
of the Local Government Affairs and Special Projects. What
       does that mean?
       A. He was at that time. He is not today, but at that time
he would have liaised directly with local government
authorities on any issues concerning McDonald's, not just
       packaging or environment.

  Q. So that would be things like planning and things like that?
       A. He may get involved in planning. It is usually the
planning, the real estate department would handle their own
planning issues, but he could have got involved in that
       area.

  Q. Can you get pink Volume V down, please? Keep your
statement there because we may need it again.
       A. OK.

  Q. Can you turn to tab 30?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Is that the policy statement you are talking about or not,
or is it something different, I mean, I do not know, so?
       A. I am sorry, what policy statement?

  Q. Your corporate environmental policy?
       A. Oh, "The task force developed and published our
corporate environmental policy", yes, I believe so.

  Q. You think that is it?
       A. I believe it is. I am not -- yes, I believe it is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Remind me what you have in mind. You say,
"Is that the policy statement you were talking about",
when and in what terms was he talking about it?

MS. STEEL: I did not use the word "statement" previously but
the corporate environmental policy. We were talking about
       that previously.
       A. Are you waiting for me?

  Q. Yes. So you think that is probably the policy?
       A. As far as I am aware it is. I was not involved so
I cannot be certain but it looks like it.
