Day 185 - 07 Nov 95 - Page 59

       and various collateral -----?
       A. The only thing I knew about was the vote; that is the
only part I heard about, that they decided for a vote.

MR. MORRIS: Right. So other people decided on those, and then
       you found out about it?
       A. It was the lawyers who decided, I guess; and that is --
they came back and told us.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Shall we have the break, then?

  MR. MORRIS: Yes.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Five minutes.

                        (Short Adjournment)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How do you think you are doing on timing?

MR. MORRIS: We are not sure if we will finish today.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There is no pressure on you to finish today,
in that three days were allowed; but, obviously, if you
can, you are going to have the two days. If, for instance,
you finish cross-examining this afternoon, I would not
contemplate -- unless there was some special need -- having
anything else tomorrow or Thursday. So you would have the
two days which you had hoped to have to help you with the
Bath documents, which I know have now appeared. But it is
entirely a matter for you. I know you have some difficulty
with domestic arrangements, but I would be prepared to sit
on a little if it would help to finish.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): You commented on Sarah Ingliss'
statement about the visit of Marianne Drummond from
McDonald's Head Office. Is she from Canada McDonald's?
       A. As far as I know, she is.

  Q. She is still -- what is her position?
       A. I do not know what her position is, but I assume she is
in customer relations or human resources, or something.
I do not know what she is.

  Q. Right. Is that the only time she has been to the store?
       A. That is the only time I have seen her.

  Q. Right.
       A. But I have heard of other visits by people from Head
Office, but not spoken to me, myself.

  Q. There have been other visits from people from Head Office,
or is it a rare occasion?
       A. No. That is normal. I have heard of other ones, but
they have not spoken to me.

  Q. They do not normally speak to staff; they normally speak to
       the Manager?
       A. No, they speak to staff. I was not working that day; I
was off before she came, or she did not get a chance to
       talk to me.
