Day 188 - 15 Nov 95 - Page 74

Personally, I thought it was so bad, I do not
know why I stayed so long. It was a big
mistake, and even if they offered me ú1 million,
I would not go back" -- signed "David McGee" and
            dated 11th April 1988.

       He then adds:

"Also, I never received any instructions or
training to deal with an emergency such as a
fire, which I believe is compulsory by law."

       Continuation statement of David McGee:

"1. Working in excess of 39 hours a week.
I agree with this. There are about two or three
people who did this. This was during May 1987.

"2. Insufficient breaks. I cannot remember the
name of the manager. These things happened to
myself. If the store was quiet, we would
probably get a break every 45 minutes to an
hour. If not, it might be two to three hours.
I needed a break in order that I could smoke or
drink, or both. This was the same for
everyone. This was during the period November
1986 to June 1987. I was often told to hurry up
when it was a busy time. I was told to drink
up. We were usually only given a 15 to 30
            seconds break.

"In respect to (B), this happened to me.
Obviously, one would want a meal in the middle
of the shift. However, because there was
staggering of the breaks, you could have
extremes of having a break half an hour after
starting or finishing your break, only leaving
15 minutes to the end of your shift.

"The section leader decided who went on break.
It varied with the numbers of people on the
crew, and I cannot remember any dates.

"The extremes that I have described were usually
twice a month. I think one of the supervisors
            section leader's names was William.

"3. Pressure to follow prescribed steps. This
often happened. I can particularly remember the
distances that burgers had to be placed apart
from each other. Also, there was an insistence
on constant clearing of the utensils."

Perhaps that is meant to say "cleaning", but I do not know
       whether it particularly matters, anyway.

"This happened in the latter part of the time I
was working there, May to June. I cannot
            remember any other instances.
