Day 184 - 06 Nov 95 - Page 28
know, people your own age would say things like that to
you. When Cam came in all of that stopped, so I was happy.

Q. Going on to Rob Pinkney -- I cannot remember if it is in
your statement -- were there complaints about Rob Pinkney's
style of management specifically?
A. Pardon, I am sorry?

Q. Were there complaints about Rob's style of management, his
attitude, his unfriendliness, or anything like that,
drunkenness?
A. Not that I can remember. I mean, everybody at first
was apprehensive because it is new, and they were making
changes but, I mean, after the first six months, after most
of the major changes were made and, you know, everybody
settled down and, as far as I know, everybody was happy.

Q. You said in your statement that Rob was more unpredictable
than he is now, so that people would sometimes ask what
kind of mood he was in. This was particularly so with
people who did not know him that well. So, can you explain
about the moods that he got in and his unpredictability?
A. Can you just tell me where I put that?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Where?

MS. STEEL: It is page 15, paragraph 43.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, give the reference. It is a bit too
much to expect someone to immediately turn up the right
place in a 21 page statement.

MR. MORRIS: Page 15. I thought the witness might remember.
A. That is where I -- in there I said that, you know,
they, I mean, as far as I knew, they were not afraid of him
but he was more unpredictable as to, you know, we did not
know what would -- it was the whole store. Everything was
changing in the store. We did not know, you know, like
HBOs, you know, that was a new thing, and so we did not
know what changes were going to be made. We did not know.
Everything, in the early stages, was almost unpredictable.

Q. But Rob was particularly unpredictable; is that correct?
A. I do not -- I am sorry to say that I do not understand
what you mean by that. I know that is in there and
everything was new then, everything was changing then, in
comparison with John Tingley and how he ran the store.

Q. John Tingley was much more easy going?
A. He - from my point of view?

Q. From everybody's point of view.
A. He did not care. We did whatever we wanted. We did
whatever we wanted to the food. We treated the customers
however we wanted. If we were in a bad mood, we could take
it out on the customers, type thing. I mean, even the
employees that are employed now in comparison to the
employees employed then are different; their whole
attitudes are different.
