Day 260 - 11 Jun 96 - Page 46

       A. No, I do not think there was ever a period that long
when I did not attend. Certainly, there were periods where
I did not attend for a two-week period; in other words,
       I missed a meeting out.

MR. MORRIS: Just on that general subject, that rule of thumb,
I did not check the figures but we calculated something
like, we have got 12 actual events, 11 meetings in the
       George Roby, or whatever ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- details of so far?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And you said you attended virtually every week, but maybe
you missed out two or three times, or something like that?
       A. Something of that nature.

  Q. I calculated, from the length of time, that you might have
actual attended about 20 events, meetings mostly?
       A. It is possible. I cannot say after this length of
       time.

  Q. That does not sound to be an unrealistic figure?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I know the answer to this question.
There is no point in Mr. Morris getting the witness to
       speculate.

MS. STEEL: Well, can you tell us then, please?

MR. RAMPTON: No, I will not tell you.

MS. STEEL: Then there is a point in getting the witness to
       speculate.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It depends, you see. What I do not know is
       at the moment -----

MR. MORRIS: Maybe we will leave this until -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I can look at my list and I can look at the
different dates I have got. I came to 11, so it looks as
       if I missed one out.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. There are 12 that your Lordship and the
Defendants know about. There is an unspecified number
which neither your Lordship nor the Defendants know about
which, presently, I am not disposed to say anything about.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Then they are entitled to ask, are they not,
about how many he went to?

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. But all I am saying is that, if it should
come to an argument -- which it may do on Thursday -- about
whether or not the notes of these meetings are to be
disclosed or not, that is to say, the ones they have not
already got, then I would probably have to tell
your Lordship then how many meetings, as I know, Mr. Bishop
       actually attended.
