Day 242 - 29 Apr 96 - Page 56

17th. That is something for me to chase up.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I would like you to do is when you have
called Miss link on Thursday, be prepared to tell me more
on Thursday about these loose days we have got.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. Then we have nutrition witnesses as well. It
may be Professor Naismith first and then followed by
Fairgrieve, whatever. If our witness, Mr. Fairgrieve,
cannot make it, we can get a nutrition witness if
necessary. We need to know -- we have to contact Professor
Crawford first, have we not, about that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is Mr. Fairgrieve's availability?

MR. RAMPTON: Apparently, he has got a difficulty that week, but
we will try to fit him in on whichever day it is.
Actually, we can find out without the problems that
Mr. Morris has with Mr. Olive. We can find out pretty
sharpish, I would guess, whether he can do the 14th or the
17th and, if he can, then if your Lordship approves it, we
will just put him in on one of those days.

MR. MORRIS: I mean, Mr. Fairgrieve has an enormous amount of
documents and transcripts to read, so we would certainly
attempt to fill those days ourselves.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Tell me about it on Thursday because if you
cannot fill the 14th and 17th, I think Mr. Fairgrieve ought
to go in on one of them. We may put him on the 17th rather
than the 14th, but I will talk about that on Thursday. It
would be a very great help if you can contact Mr. Crawford
and get enough from him to deal with heart disease and
Professor Naismith the following week, and if an approach
can be made to Dr. Arnott.

MR. RAMPTON: We will do that at once.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Then it will be up to you to get Professor
Crawford in and Miss Brophy in and Dr. Brown, if you want
to call him, but I would like to hear more about it on
Thursday after Miss Link. Thursday morning then.
