operating supplies have been haphazardly controlled. Better
       results recently."

Is the whole system of ordering quite complicated to
balance correctly in terms of what the needs are and what
       the ordering as ordered ---
       A. No.

  Q. -- are?
       A. I mean, I went from a position of just being promoted
from First Assistant in Colchester High Street where I was
not really responsible for the ordering as such, into a
position as Store Manager. Though I could not actually do
the actual ordering, as a new Store Manager, you know, you
have to appreciate that it takes time to learn the job; and
various points that Mr. Davis pointed out to me I worked
on, and I would say today I am actually better attuned for
it. But the whole system itself is very well set out.

  Q. The goals and objectives that are set by your superiors,
are they just waffle or are you actually expected to
       achieve them?
       A. We achieve them.

  Q. You are expected to achieve them?
       A. I achieve them in my restaurant.

  Q. Are you expected to achieve them?
       A. It depends what actual goals and objectives you are
relating to, because there is such a wide range.

  Q. If you look over the page, there are various goals and
       objectives.
       A. OK.

  Q. This is mid 1990. When did you say you achieved the full
crew staffing level in the summer? You said something
       about 89.
       A. Are you referring to -----

  Q. You said, in answer to a question that Ms. Steel asked,
something about you being one of the few stores that
achieved your full complement of crew levels, or something?
       A. That is right; the store was comfortable with and could
       operate at ------

  Q. That was when, which year, do you remember? I think you
       said it was 89.
       A. 89, probably, 90. I think it was 89, actually.

  Q. So: "Goals and objectives: Attain 80 crew on payroll by
July 21st. Beat net sales and budget PAC and NOI for next
six months." Forget (3). (4): "Obtain at least the
       following grades on a full field: B, A, B, A, A, A. (5)
action quality problems in the store."

So you still had quality problems in the store even in
       June 1990; yes?
       A. No, just had an on-going goal.
