Day 306 - 26 Nov 96 - Page 19
him.

Then, at the top of page 56, I asked him how many meetings
he attended.

I said to him: "So you have no idea if it was five, 10, 15
or anything?"

Answer: "It would not have been as many as 15. I would be
guessing. It probably may have been if five that I
attended."

So, he had the impression that five was kind of like a
maximum number of meetings that he attended; and that is
after reading his notes. He says: "From what I recall of
my notes."

Line 16: "So, really, it is entirely based on your notes
what your recollection is?"

Answer, "I recall you were there" -- that was 1st March --
"but only from my notes."

Anyway, that goes off on to another point. The point I am
making is that he only believed he was there for as many as
five meetings, and, in fact, he was there for more than 18
meetings. That further damages his credibility as a
witness and the impressions that he was trying to put
over.

Anyway, sticking with 1st March, which is my main focus
here, on page 59, day 265: "You do not now recall that
meeting?"

Answer: "No, I do not."

Then I said to him, at the bottom of page 60: "You do not
mention me saying that I was absent, looking after my
female partner and my child who had broken bones after an
accident?"

He says: "No, I do not."

"Can you say why you did not put that in," I asked.

Answer: "Not relevant, as far as I was concerned."

Then, line 9: "You said before that if we said something,
myself or Helen, it was likely to be noted. Did you not
say that?"

Answer: "Yes."

Question: "Is it not relevant that I have stated that I had
got such domestic circumstances that I cannot be involved
in the group?"

Answer: "Not to me at that time. I did not make a note of
it."
