attention before we go to page 30.
     A. Yes.

Q. Do you see the words "Overview" underneath the details at
     the top, yes?
     A. Yes.

Q. "The Store Manager is responsible for the overall
direction of the management and crew in order to achieve
optimum long-term sales and profit. The job divides into
the following major areas: Quality service and
     cleanliness, sales, profit, people, administration,
special goals. There is obvious overlap between these
areas and sometimes goals within one may cause problems
within another. The Manager's job is to maintain proper
balance, perspective and overall direction". Do you agree
that that is an appropriate description of the Manager's
     task in a McDonald's restaurant?
     A. I cannot argue with what is written down there, no.

Q. Do you agree it is appropriate to what you understood to
     be your role as Manager?
     A. As I stated previously, there was always two sets of
rules that we worked by, and if you go through my
performance reviews, anyone's performance reviews, there
was always a difference between what was actually going on
and what actually goes on in the review.

Q. Do you agree that you cannot run a restaurant properly if
     you are chronically under-staffed?
     A. You cannot, no, which was part of the argument that we
     used to have.

Q. Do you agree that you cannot run a restaurant properly if
you do not have enough experienced crew and Managers?
     A. Agreed.

Q. You do agree? Do you agree, therefore, that it is
desirable, if not essential, to keep turnover as low as
possible and retention of staff as high as possible?
     A. Yes.

Q. You do agree? Do you agree that all those measures cost
     money?
     A. Of course.

Q. Yes, they do. People who have been there longer are paid
more highly as a rule, are they not?
     A. They are.

Q. The more Managers you have, whether they be Trainee
Managers, Floor Managers, Second Assistants or whatever,
the more money it costs. Do you agree?
     A. It depends what grades they are.

Q. They are more highly paid than the ordinary probationary
     crew member, are they not?
     A. They are, yes.

Q. Do you agree that lobby hostesses cost more than ordinary
