1 Q. Right. We are coming on to that later on.
              A. I mean, we ----
     2
         Q. That is OK. It does say, does it not, in the last but one
     3 paragraph, the last sentence?
              A. Which paragraph?
     4
         Q. The last but one paragraph, the last sentence: "The first
5 hundred will only last for a short time - for the first
news media 'hit'. Don't be caught short after that".
6 Would you say this was timed to coincide with a publicity
              campaign in the media?
7 A. Yes, I would think it was.

8 MS. STEEL: I think you were contacted by the Texas Attorney
General's office on May 6th 1986. I do not know whether
     9 you remember that?
              A. What?
    10
         Q. There is a letter actually?
11 A. That sounds about right.

12 Q. In fact, I think the only place it is exhibited to the
statement of Steve Gardner, so I do not know if we have a
    13 spare copy?

14 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you want Mr. Horwitz to look at that? It
              is up to you.
    15
MS. STEEL: On 6th May the Texas Attorney General wrote to you
16 asking -- in fact, he wrote to Mr. Rensi -- for a meeting
              concerning food labelling.
    17
MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think if you are going to ask -- it is a
18 pale blue volume if, in fact, it has been inserted yet.

19 MS. STEEL: I am in a bit of difficulty here because part of
the reasons for bringing this up is that the plaintiffs
20 served a Civil Evidence Act notices on subsequent
letters. There was no mention of this letter, so really
21 I just want it to be on the record that this letter exists
and the whole thing did not just come out of nowhere. The
22 letter of May 6th 1986, it is exhibit 1.

23 MR. JUSTICE BELL: It has not come out of nowhere since this
morning because it was attached to the extra statement of
24 Mr. Gardner which you put in.

25 MS. STEEL: Yes, I know.

26 MR. JUSTICE BELL: You say subject to Civil Evidence Act notice
              now.
    27
         MS. STEEL: No.
    28
MR. JUSTICE BELL: You want it to be?
    29
MS. STEEL: When we pleaded the issue about the labelling, the
30 plaintiffs did not actually serve a statement on this.
They just served Civil Evidence Act notices on certain
