Day 209 - 25 Jan 96 - Page 17
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause a moment. Yes?
A. Can I say a bit more?

Q. Yes.
A. When I talk about comments, there was one specific
incident where I remember giving, I think it was, three or
four people their PRs, and I cannot remember whether they
were probationary PRs or normal ones, but I did give out, I
did do my own PRs. I had to do the PRs for the people who
worked lobby because I was in charge of that area, I was in
charge of customer care. So I did used to do full PRs.

But I remember giving out some PRs that a Manager had
written and he kept on mentioning the water softener all
the way through these PRs, and they did not -- the people
who I had given these PRs to did not know what a water
softener was. They did not know where the water softener
was. It was kept in the stock room and it was, you know,
behind the corner. It just looked like a big barrel, and
most of them did not have a clue what it was.

So they were being told to learn how to fill the water
softener and they did not even know where the water
softener was, you know, and they would never be expected to
fill the water softener because somebody else filled the
water softener. It was a specific task given to someone
from the training squad. So that phrase just did not --
you know, they did not understand what it meant. I had to
explain it to them, but it was not exactly inspiring.

MR. MORRIS: You did not actually write, is that the way
I understand what you said, the PRs yourself but you had to
give them?
A. I did write -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: He said: "I did some PRs"?
A. I did some PRs for the lobby people and I did the
occasional one for other people when another Manager was
too busy or something and -----

MR. MORRIS: But you actually handed on PRs ---
A. But I did hand out, yes ---

Q. -- other people's -----
A. -- other people's PRs that other people had written.
Yes, the dated ones that were written in the file, I just
whipped them out of the file, get the person in there, get
them to, go through it quickly with them and get them to
sign it, you know, and it had already been dated and named,
so I did not really have to do a lot. I just had to read
it to them and get them to sign it and that was it, and put
it in their file.

Q. If we move on to health and safety. Grills: "An RCD
system" -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: May I make a suggestion, wait until
Mr. Morris gets to one of the end of your paragraphs before
----
