Q. What percentage of people that leave come back to work for
the Company?
A. I think I have already said that we do not have that
information.

Q. What percentage come back to work?
A. I said, we do not have that information.

Q. You do not have that information?
A. We do not have that recorded, no. I can only speak
anecdotally about that.

Q. It is based on myth and propaganda, is it not?
A. It is based upon my observations of having worked in
the Company.

Q. Yes, and your observations from working in the Company are
that the majority of people who leave are dissatisfied, are
they not, with the pay and conditions?
A. I beg your pardon. That is not what I have just said.

Q. No, I am asking you.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: She has said that she does not agree ---
A. I said I did not agree.

Q. -- that the majority leave because they do not like
McDonald's. That is her evidence.

MS. STEEL: Less than 10 per cent of your employees are over
30, is that not correct?
A. Probably. Looking back at the figures that would be
about right, yes.

Q. It is in McDonald's Fact Book.
A. Yes, that is what I mean. I am not looking at the Fact
Book and you are.

Q. 9.31 per cent are aged over 30. Is it not a fact that,
basically, people only work for McDonald's when they have
not got a lot of choice? Basically, once they have got any
choice in the matter they do not stick around, they go
elsewhere and get jobs elsewhere?
A. No, I do not agree with that.

MR. MORRIS: Once they get more experienced and more independent
awareness of alternatives and conditions, again they do not
want to work for McDonald's?
A. No, I disagree with that. I think that while,
certainly, we are a first time employer and there are
people who work for us who have not worked before and do
not know about work, there are also people who will say
that what they learnt at McDonald's is very useful to them
in later times, in later work that they do. So, no,
I certainly do not agree with that.

Q. You target the employment of young people, do you not?
A. We do not target young people; we also recruit older
people. It is true to say that traditionally we have not
