Day 244 - 03 May 96 - Page 26

  Q. One other question only in that case. You say that you
have investigated -- and these are, perhaps, not your
precise words but this is the drift of it -- investigated
illness in people exposed or have been exposed to
       organophosphates, yes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What do you mean by "exposure to organophosphates" in that
       context?
       A. Several cohorts: A large number of people, farmers,
sheep dippers. A separate cohort I have been looking at
are people who have been exposed to products used in home,
particularly timber treatment -- they are not primarily OPs
-- and then a group with no apparent, no clear exposure,
domestic and others, where there is no clear explanation,
       such as occupational exposure.

  Q. Are the findings of these studies or this study published
       somewhere?
       A. Not as yet. There are others working on this. There
have been a number of studies. I, myself, am working
towards a book on the subject which, obviously, will be
       published in due course.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. Thank you, Dr. North.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you have any re-examination?

  MR. MORRIS: No.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you, Dr. North.

                      (The witness withdrew)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There is nothing else we can usefully do
today then is there, unless you have something to raise?

MS. STEEL: Actually, yes, I did. Firstly, I have got some
documents to disclose. They are more or less in relation
to the Counterclaim. I have a few more to sort out in the
       next few minutes. (Handed).

The other thing is that I do not think we have heard about
what is happening with Mr. Morganti's statement, because we
still have not had that and, obviously, we would like to be
able to give it to Sue Bramford for her comments. The only
       other thing is -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us just pause. Do you know what the
       position is, Mr. Rampton?

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. Mr. Morganti has been sent a request. He
has said that he will do it. He has been reminded by
letter and I can do no more than wait to hear, I hope
sooner rather than later, what response I get.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would be very grateful if Mr. Hill, or
someone, can ring him up and say, because Ms. Bramford is
spot on the point and ---
