need check that you agree with that unless you want to give
Mr. Preston the opportunity to disagree with it?

MR. RAMPTON: Quite, and what is more it is virtually identical
to material which was read to Mr. Preston on Tuesday.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have not read it through; I might read it
through for general interest since, either now or in the
past, it seems to have been rather a good read. School
children are told to go and write a project on some local
business and it can involve them in an enormous amount of
work. If I had known you had done this, I think I would
have suggested my younger daughter asked for the McDonald's
Pack, rather than spending days and days trying to get
information off someone else, but that is what it is all
       for.
       A. That is what it is for.

  Q. And you would hope that it is accurate, I assume?
       A. It certainly was at that moment in time and it would be
updated as we saw fit. It is purely in response to the
hundreds of requests that we get from students for
       information about ourselves.

  Q. They are always doing projects on things like that.

MR. MORRIS: Can I ask you about one of the points under the
Healthy Eating Policy, under the subheading 'Products'.
       The third paragraph reads:

"McDonald's is committed to reducing, where practical, the
amount of additives, especially preservatives and
       colourants in products."

Have there been, since that time, any success in reducing
the amount of additives, especially preservatives and
colourants, since 1994 that you know of?
       A. I do not know for sure.

  Q. Have there been any colourants or preservatives removed
from products since 1989, do you know?
       A. I think so, but I could not say at the moment which
       ones.

  Q. There was the one that was banned. That was the flour that
was banned as carcinogenic I think?
       A. There was Tartrazine I think. It is an orange colour,
I think. We did away with that.

  Q. That was in line with your Healthy Eating Policy to reduce
the amount of colourants and preservatives?
       A. Yes.

  Q. If we move on from that to Nutritional Development, which
is about 4 pages further on. It says Nutritional
Development. It is a summary. We have heard a lot of this
kind of material before in the case.
       A. I have got it.

  Q. It has a section about additives there. On the top of the
