bulletin boards. We try to broadcast these policies
broadly so that everyone knows what their rights and
obligations are in these particular areas.

Q. At the bottom of page 386 which is the first of the
internal pages, it says: "Our top management believes in
affirmative action, non-harassment and equal opportunity
because they make good business sense and they are the
right things to do"?
A. Correct.

Q. I think you have you have told us that top management does
believe in those things. Do they make good business sense
and why, if they do?
A. They absolutely make good business sense. Our
customers represent all people and we should mirror what
our customers look like and behave accordingly.

Q. While we have this document open, to save our having to
come back to it, can you have a quick look at page 387 ---
A. Sure.

Q. -- which is about student employment. I am sure it is very
familiar to you?
A. Yes, it is.

Q. Just glance through it. I am not going to come back to
it. I am going to ask you later on about what practical
steps you take to fulfil the fine intentions expressed in
this piece of paper. Is this something which the
Corporation takes as seriously as this sheet of paper would
appear to suggest?
A. Yes, we do. I personally spend a great deal of time
with educators, students, parents and others, monitoring
this area and making sure that we are living up to our
promises.

Q. Is this just a marketing tool or ploy?
A. No. I do not believe this has -- I should not say that
because I cannot say with all certainty, but this is an
internal document. We do share it with educators and
others, but this is something to make sure that our folks
know what is expected in this area and what we want to do.

Q. I was going to ask you that. Just have a quick glance at
388, statement of employment principles which I am sure you
are also well familiar with?
A. Yes.

Q. These documents then are not, as it were, in the character
of press releases or something like that?
A. No, they are not, sir.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I see it has a number in the bottom left-hand
corner, and this is November 1990 revision.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Right in the very bottom, just beneath the
box in the bottom left-hand corner.
