Day 181 - 01 Nov 95 - Page 66
witnesses' movements, I would call all the crew members
from Colchester and then call Mr. Coton who held a
managerial position last.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I appreciate that may not be possible.

MR. MORRIS: It is not really.

MR. RAMPTON: Then, my Lord, I will have something to say about
him being called on the 17th simply because at the moment
I do not believe he should be called at all until we have
had an opportunity of looking at the matter, in particular,
going through his two statements with the sort of care
which one would if they were pleadings and, if necessary,
inviting an order from your Lordship that he should answer
what will, in fact, be a request for further and better
particulars. I do not believe he should be called at all.

MR. MORRIS: With respect to Mr. Rampton, that is absolute
rubbish because he only deals with exactly the same matters
that have been dealt with by the other witnesses by
Colchester.

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, he was Manager for nearly three
years.

MR. MORRIS: Yes, of course.

MR. RAMPTON: Therefore, he must give chapter and verse. I do
wish that Mr. Morris would not speak continually at the
same time as I do; it really is very distracting and really
quite trying.

MS. STEEL: Perhaps if you practice what you preach.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am not going to sit here and just listen to
squabbles one way or the other.

MR. RAMPTON: But, my Lord, that is my problem with Mr. Coton at
the moment. To schedule him on Friday, 17th, frankly, at
the moment is unrealistic.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How long are you expecting Mr. Alimi to
take?

MR. MORRIS: I have scheduled two days, but the problem was he
could not do the 16th and 17th. I scheduled him for the
16th and 29th but the Plaintiffs now said that the
cross-examination of Sarah Ingliss may go on for three and
a half days total.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is the difficulty with Mr. Alimi on the
17th, because one has to accept that although we are trying
to help witnesses in this case, they do suffer a certain
amount of inconvenience -- everyone involved in litigation
does. Do you know what his problem is on 17th?

MR. MORRIS: I do not know what the problem is. I can ask him
