  Q. Tell us what it is?
       A. This is our policy, the concept of our humane treatment
       of animal policy.

  Q. In the second paragraph it says: "McDonald's believes the
humane treatment of animals is a moral responsibility." Is
       that true or false?
       A. It is true, absolutely true.

  Q. It says: "The company fully respects the independence of
its suppliers and relies on them to adhere to pertinent
laws, regulations and industry guidelines concerning the
humane treatment of animals." Does the company take that
       position?
       A. Absolutely.

  Q. Do you trust your suppliers?
       A. Absolutely.

  Q. Do you think you can rely on them?
       A. Absolutely.

  Q. Are there laws and regulations which govern the humane
       treatment of animals?
       A. Yes, there are.

  Q. In the slaughterhouse there are USDA inspectors, are there
       not?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Do those inspectors have any animal welfare
       responsibilities?
       A. Yes, they do.

  Q. What powers do they have if, in their opinion, the
slaughterhouse is not properly looking after the welfare of
the animals in accordance with the law?
       A. They have the same power they have when they are inside
the plant. They can stop any part of the process from the
unloading of the animals from the time they go through the
       process at any stage.

  Q. Industry guidelines are mentioned there. If you turn over,
if you put that one away for a moment and turn to the next
document in the bundle, you see a letter from Monfort dated
       9th December 1992?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you have that?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. Then attached to it is quite a long document marked
"Confidential" which deals with Monfort's cattle animal
welfare policy. Then a specific, starting two pages on,
provision for the welfare of animals at feed lots. Do you
       see that?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. Have you seen this document before?
       A. Yes, I have.
