Day 274 - 04 Jul 96 - Page 24
Q. The other point, I think the last point in the notes that I
want to refer to, is the notes of Mr. Claire for 6th
September 1990. Actually, that probably will not be in
there because the last ones were not.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is page 186A, the way I have numbered
things?
A. I have got 186A but it does not look like Alan Claire's
notes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, the writing is rather different. What
date does it have on it?

MS. STEEL: I think, because it was at the same time as the July
one, it will not be in there because the July one was not.
If I just read through that. "6th September 1990,
5 Caledonian Road. Just popped in to show my face. Jane
only in the office. She was going through letters et
cetera. Just said hello and asked what is happening
lately. Not a lot was, especially on the McDonald's side
of things. Reminded her that I would do the videos at the
fayre" -- and then he stayed for an hour between 6.30 and
7.30. Do you have any recollection of this?
A. I mean, I vaguely recollect it, yes. I mean, Alan was
quite chatty. I mean, regardless of what he said about me,
you know, we got on all right. Yes, he did he say he was
going to do the videos again at the fayre, although he
never did. He said he was going to do some work. He had
been away doing some work with his Dad, I think. That is
why he had not been to any meetings recently.

Q. Right. You can close that book now? Just, did he
generally take an interest in the McDonald's campaign;
would that be unusual, him asking questions about it?
A. No, I mean, he asked questions from time to time. I
mean, he did not show any great interest in the campaign
but he was eager to help organise videos at the fayre, so
he was involved in the group.

Q. Okay. Now, I want to go through the additional points
which were served.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause a moment, please.

MS. STEEL: I do not know whether the stenographers want a five
minute break?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will take a break. I just want to complete
my note.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you want to do the Professor Crawford
document now or would it be better just to have five
minutes, and if need be I can add a bit of extra time in
the midday break.

MS. STEEL: I would rather do it at lunchtime, I think.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will take a 5 minute break then.

(Short Adjournment)
