Day 262 - 13 Jun 96 - Page 33
had previously stated, I might not include that, because it
is not new information.

Q. If it is a new person saying something, or somebody saying
something that is different, then that would be worthy of
note?
A. I would have tried to remember it, yes.

Q. When I said "recall", I did not mean necessarily that
everything went into the notes, but that ---
A. Memory.

Q. -- as a private investigator, you are trained to listen to
what is going on and remember it, especially if it is
something of significance? Is that part of the training?
A. It is not part of the training, no. This is not a
usual investigative matter. It is not usual to attend this
many meetings and try to recall as much information as was
put there. There was little chance of making actual notes
during meetings, at these attendances.

Q. You seem to recall quite a lot of detail? For example, at
this meeting, you had detail about myself: how old I was,
how long I had been with the group, what my absence was due
to -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Morris, I do not know where you are
going. If there is no evidence of you saying anything
about this, that or the other, the fact is there is no
evidence of it. If you dig round, for all I know, you will
turn up some evidence. But, at the moment, there is no
evidence of you saying anything other than appears either
in the statement or the notes, in so far as they are
adopted by the witnesses.

MR. MORRIS: All I am saying is, in that paragraph there, you
have obviously taken great care to remember what
I particularly said, and my involvement in the group.
A. All I can tell you is -----

Q. Is that because I had not actually been at any, or just one
or two?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What it does -----

MR. MORRIS: It is quite important.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, it is. But the same applies to Jane,
and she had been there often enough; the same applies to
Helen, and she had been there often enough, or it is
suggested.

MR. MORRIS: But this detail you remembered about me, or you
noted about me, a whole paragraph with six lines, you
remember in detail, is it because what I said at that
meeting was important?
A. It is because that is what I remembered and it was
something towards identification.

Q. While we are on this subject, do you remember, when you
