Day 258 - 07 Jun 96 - Page 36

       irrelevant.

MR. MORRIS: The fax number cannot be irrelevant.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Carry on with it, anyway. If you get a
better copy in due course, and if it is something
important, we can raise it. But carry on with the contents
of the document rather than the fax heading for the moment,
if you, indeed, want to ask Mr. Nicholson anything about it
       at all.

MR. MORRIS: Do you know where these documents came from?
       A. I have not got a clue no, sorry.

  Q. If we can ask formally for a better copy with the details
at the top of the page so we can see. Have you got the
       originals in court?

MR. RAMPTON: No, I have already said that twice. The ordinary
rules apply. Defendants can inspect the originals at
       Barlow's offices.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is easier.

MR. RAMPTON: They are not here, my Lord.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: They can be brought in, no doubt, rather than
having to go to Barlow's offices. I am sure
Mrs. Brinley-Codd will not mind bringing them in and you
can have a look at them and if it is something which really
matters the Defendants not seeing then cut it off.
Otherwise, let Mr. Morris see it.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I will do that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Anyway you do not know anything about
       them?
       A. I do not know anything about them, my Lord.

  Q. Yes.

MS. STEEL: I am afraid I am a bit disorganised. The
counterclaim pleadings, I do not know whether the witness
really needs to see them, but in your counterclaim
pleadings you have said that myself and Mr. Morris were
organisers of anti-McDonald's demonstrations and events for
several years. Do you remember that -- that is obviously
       not the exact words?
       A. No, I would need to be directed to the pleadings.

  Q. You said that you stopped employing inquiry agents in 1991?
       A. January.

  Q. January 1991?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Although we are aware of inquiry agents that were still
       there in May 1991.

MR. RAMPTON: That is singular or plural?
