1 specific sense McDonald's claims that when styrofoam is
burnt properly, it reduces to nothing but water and
2 carbon, carbon dioxide, if I recall correctly, their
claims. They, essentially, were not in keeping with the
     3 findings of this study.

     4 Q. Right.
              A. Now, I am aware of testimony in this case which has
5 called attention to the idea that this literature,
material, is referring to the uncontrolled burning of
6 polystyrene and that garbage burning -----

7 Q. Just to explain to the court, people may remember that
              last week -----
     8
MR. JUSTICE BELL: I remember that. What was being said then
9 was that one had to be careful to remember that it was
              incinerated under controlled conditions?
10 A. The way I understand it -- correct me if I am wrong --
the way I understand was the comment was this dealt with
11 experiments dealing with uncontrolled burns and an
incinerator burn was a controlled burn.
    12
MR. MORRIS: The way I remember it was that this report relates
13 to some kind of house fire test, and that an incinerator
would be a controlled system of dealing with waste?
14 A. In the point that I would like to make with regards to
that is that this list of references in the back is a list
15 which in the document itself it describes a number of
these experiments and the findings, it is describing
16 controlled laboratory experiments regarding the burning of
polystyrene. In other words, these are controlled
    17 experiments.

18 Now, the second point that was raised with regard to
              this -----
    19
         Q. Just wait a minute. You want to have a look?
    20
MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, what I was looking at was I think the
21 evidence of the witness -- I do not think he had seen any
document to which you might be referring, but he had read
22 that in your statement it said the National Bureau of
Standards Centre for Fire Research and, therefore, he
23 contemplated the possibility that this was products of a
              fire?
24 A. That is right, and this -- my point is to at least to
try to set the record straight on that matter.
    25
         Q. Yes.
26 A. That this document is a literature review of
scientific experiments and all of them are controlled
27 laboratory experiments. The second point that I wish to
make is that the notion that a garbage incinerator is
28 somehow a controlled burn environment is not necessarily
-- I do not believe it is supported, that I ask actually
29 at request to read into evidence -- sorry.

30 MR. MORRIS: Let me explain that following that statement last
week, we contacted an expert in America on incineration to
