Day 187 - 13 Nov 95 - Page 35

MR. MORRIS: Mr. Lamti has explained to me that you declare that
you live -- it was compulsory to declare you lived within a
kilometre, even if you did not, so that you avoided being
entitled to the taxi payments. If there is any doubt or it
seems to be important, then maybe Mr. Lamti could be -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, I do not think there is. That is what
I thought it meant, looking at the French, but I wanted to
make sure.

MR. MORRIS: "Regarding Societe Vilpaix, of which I am a
personnel delegate (and union CFDT member), the dialogue
between our employer and the unionised members of staff has
been reinstated. All the requests or problems are
discussed, and solutions are brought rapidly in
collaboration with the employer. The employees are not
scared any more to come to see us with their questions and
requests."

That is the end of the translated statement of
Chantal Villeneuve-Gallez.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Thank you. Is there any reason why
Miss Scutcher has to stay? Is there anything French to be
dealt with today, after reading that?

MR. MORRIS: Not from our side.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you very much. What about Miss Tobin?

MR. MORRIS: Right. The background to this is that we had
scheduled a full week originally, and we were encouraged --
well, we decided only to call one of the French witnesses,
after being encouraged to think about whether we needed
them. The other witnesses we transferred because of
requests from the other side, for their benefit, as far as
I am concerned. So the only witness I can find at this
short notice to come in this week is Anne Tobin, on
Wednesday. Basically, I do not see any problem with it.
If the Plaintiffs have a problem -- which we have fallen
over backwards to accommodate their requests -- then,
really, it is their problem; it is nothing to do with us.
We have got to get on with our case. That is it, really.
We want to call Anne Tobin on Wednesday.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

MR. RAMPTON: I do not know if your Lordship actually needs my
help. It might be useful, in view of what Mr. Morris has
said, to go back over the history of this.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is the position? I can remember a fair
bit of the history.

MR. RAMPTON: That is what I can tell your Lordship.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What has happened since we last talked?

MR. RAMPTON: 19th July of this year, Mr. Morris said that he
