Day 116 - 26 Apr 95 - Page 23
A. They are between 11 p.m. and 7.00 a.m.

MR. RAMPTON: Looking at those figures, can you just glance
through all those I think there are seven tabs? As I said,
we see none for the period 29th September?
A. Yes.

Q. I think there are four for 13th October, there is one for
27th October?
A. Yes.

Q. Three for 10th November?
A. Yes.

Q. One for 24th November?
A. Yes.

Q. Three for 8th September, then seven in the period just
before Christmas, 22nd December ---
A. Yes.

Q. -- 1993. Looking at those figures overall, some, I think
the greatest number, is something like 110 which is the
highest number. That is that first one for Miss Watts.
First, is that an exceptional set of figures from your
experience of running this particular analysis system or
not?
A. No. Three to four per pay period would be about what
I would expect to get in an organisation where you have
28,000 hourly paid workers, four people working
over 96 ------

Q. That is the second thing I was going to ask you about it.
One notices that all these places, I think, fall within the
Greater Metropolitan Police area?
A. Yes.

Q. Would figures have existed for the country at large at this
time or not?
A. Yes, they would.

Q. Would they be likely to have been the same as London or
would they have been less or greater, do you think?
A. Well, possibly less because most of the very large
volume stores are in the London area, but there are one or
two stores out there that are very large, Milton Keynes,
Manchester. They may very well have the odd crew person
who works on the very odd occasion excessive hours, but we
would regard this as excessive hours.

Q. You have answered my next question. How much concern would
you have, if, you know, these figures had been put -- this
is after your time, as it were ---
A. Yes.

Q. -- but these figures had been put in front of you, let us
say, 1990, what sort of concern would you have had about
them?
A. I would have asked the field Personnel Officer
responsible for that store why it was necessary. It would
