can ask him a question or two, if you wish, as to how he
       came to get it.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. Can I just say that actually in the --
because I only met Mr. Olive this morning for half-an-hour,
but in the sheets, handwritten sheet by myself with all the
names of all the different staff members that Mr. Logan has
identified, he said that he generally agreed but only with
those that were current when he was working at the Bath
       store.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is so with regard to the notes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You can only agree with what was happening while you were
       there?
       A. That is right.

MR. MORRIS: But he agrees with those, that sheet, dated the 2nd
October 1995, and he also agrees with the other one which
        ---

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is what I have understood him to ----

MR. MORRIS: -- is dated 20th January, 1996, which is the second
of my handwritten notes, which both predated his statement
to us as far as it is within his, the time period when he
       was there.

The last thing is the reference, which I have simply
mislaid now. It is the 29th January, 1995. Do you know
how you came to have a reference on the 29th January, 1995?
       A. For the third year of my degree I was able to take a
placement within industry if I wanted to.

  Q. Right.
       A. And I thought it would be good to get some references
from my employers with which I could send to -----

  Q. And it is from Mr. Cummings, the Restaurant Manager?
       A. Yes. That is the Store Manager.

  Q. "To whom it may concern: Since June 1994 I have been the
Restaurant Manager at McDonald's in Bath with Danny Olive
working for me as a part-time Floor Manager." I will ask
you about that in a minute. "Prior to working in Bath,
Danny was employed in our Cheltenham restaurant and worked
his way up from crew member to Floor Manager which entailed
passing an entrance exam and completing a course in our
       Regional Office.

Danny has always exhibited the highest standards of
behaviour with his hard work and friendly disposition
commanding respect from every level of employee. I have
completed two performance reviews on him with a grade of
good being achieved twice. In recognition of his good work
he was asked to assist our Bristol Galleries restaurant in
the summer, a move which brought with it increased
responsibility. Since his return to Bath in September
Danny has taken on the role of a Shift Running Manager,
