Day 102 - 13 Mar 95 - Page 32

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, just pause for a moment.

MR. MORRIS (To the witness): The various departments -- do you
have people that work under you looking at the various
parts of the procedures at Sun Valley?
       A. The people that work for me would have -- for example,
I have a company veterinary surgeon who is responsible for
day-to-day diagnostic work on farms, so I would obviously
discuss with him from time to time various procedures.

  Q. What I mean is are there different departments at Sun
Valley or different jobs over-looking the whole process?
For example, do you have somebody who is responsible for
       building design?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And somebody who is responsible for food quality in terms
       of the final product?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you have someone who is responsible for, you know,
       nutrition ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- for the birds?
       A. Well, we do have these various people. Most of them
would not report to me directly.

  Q. Could you just say, can you just go through those
positions? Is there a specific whose job is nutrition, for
       example?
       A. Yes, there is.

  Q. Could you give their job description, their name?
       A. Well, the nutritionist is responsible for formulating
all the rations for the birds.

  Q. There is a specific job, is there, for monitoring the food
quality of the animals? I do not mean at the very end of
the process; I mean to be concerned about that issue all
       the way through?
       A. Well, for the quality control of the actual feed that
goes to the animals, that is the nutritionist's
       responsibility.

  Q. I did not mean that. I mean is there somebody who is
responsible for monitoring the quality of the bird's flesh,
if you like, at each part or am I -----
       A. Not one specific person, I think no.

  Q. You have a nutritionist, have you got any other -- I am
trying to find out which particular people are responsible.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just give one or two examples. We probably
do not need to go through the whole lot for your purposes
on this. You want to ask him whether you have an
equivalent person with regard to the welfare of the birds
on the farms; is that your point?

MR. MORRIS: Yes. (To the witness): So you have a building
