Day 209 - 25 Jan 96 - Page 58
MR. MORRIS: This is one of the official audits that is done, is
it?
A. Well, I would not say it is official because it was,
I do not know if this one got sent to anybody but it was an
in-store one.

Q. It says at the top "For the attention of Ralph Parker".
Who is Ralph Parker?
A. He must be someone at Head Office, so it must have --
right, yes, it must have been taken seriously to be sent up
there.

Q. Have you got any comments about page 169?
A. Yes. I just checked -- I read, I looked at this on
page 169, it says "Breaks check list", I read about the
breaks legislation, and I was always quite unsure in
McDonald's -- we always thought it was three quarters of an
hour break -- but I read the legislation there and then
read her key, or the key that is written here, and I just
checked one day, which is the 12.8.93 -- that is Helen's
birthday so I just picked a number -- and we were not sure
whether it was that day or the day before or the day
after. So, we checked all three days, and all three days
we found lots of insufficient break times allowed, and
I cannot exactly remember, because I have not got any notes
here, but there were lots of inaccuracies and that was just
from checking the clock card on that one day and we checked
-----

Q. She has done an official audit that is sent to somebody
fairly high up ---
A. Yes.

Q. -- in the Company. On the 12.8.93 she is ticked to imply
that she could not find any ------
A. I would assume so. That is what the ticks mean because
you have little numbers besides as well. In three -- in
four of the boxes, you have little numbers in there and
that was just, you know, a common thing; you do not ever
want to tick everything because they are not going to
believe that everything is perfect. She has just notched a
few in, but I only checked that one day. I cannot speak
for the rest of the day, but I checked that one day and it
was -----

Q. If we go to page 319 in the second volume, which is in
tab 2. Actually, it is A2 in file 2.
A. Right, got it. I am ever so sorry, can I go to the
toilet?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, you certainly can. You go off now.

MR. MORRIS: It might help if people can find -- are we having a
break?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will have the break, but let him go
anyway.

MR. MORRIS: I do not mind if we continue, if everyone else is
happy.
