Day 099 - 08 Mar 95 - Page 53

entries "store name" and "store number" mean?
       A. They reflect the restaurant that is being delivered
       this particular amount of product.

  Q. Then on the left-hand side it says: "Trailer Hygiene and
Cab Hygiene", "Checked and O.K." Whose responsibility is
it to check the hygiene of the trailer and its cab?
       A. The Golden West driver would make those checks.

  Q. Then it says: Pre-Departure temperatures, "centre" and
"rear" I can read but the word on the left-hand side
       I cannot make out?
       A. "Host".

  Q. What does that mean?
       A. They are just the different compartments in the
vehicle. We have multi-temperature vehicles, so we can
deliver ambient goods, frozen goods and chilled goods on
the same vehicle. They are just temperature settings of
the chilling units in the various areas of the vehicle.

  Q. "Host" is front part, is it?
       A. Host, yes.

  Q. Because it is near the post to which the vehicle is
       attached to the trailer?
       A. I guess so, I do not know why they -----

MR. MORRIS: Is that "post" or "host"?
       A. "Host".

MR. RAMPTON: "P" for Peter or "H" for Henry?
       A. "H" for Henry.

  Q. Host. "Section 2. To be completed by McDonald's
Restaurant in presence of GWF driver". It gives the
arrival time. It has two separate columns for "frozen" and
"chilled". Frozen must be, it seems, where the products'
temperature is measured on the vehicle 18 degrees plus or
minus 2 degrees, and chilled to 4 degrees plus or minus one
degree. So, we can run from plus one up to plus five by
       that, can we?
       A. For the chilled, yes.

  Q. Chilled, yes. You can go from minus 20 to minus 16 under
       frozen?
       A. Anything above minus 16 is unacceptable on the frozen.
       We allow a two degree.

  Q. Yes, you are quite right. Minus would be meaningless. It
says plus two. Who takes that temperature on the vehicle?
       A. The restaurant employee will take that. They sometimes
have a dedicated delivery person. It may just be a shift
running manager. It may be a training squad. It depends
who is allocated to take in the delivery.

  Q. The dry goods who only start half way down that box, their
temperature, I take it, is therefore irrelevant?
       A. Yes, they would be things like packaging materials,
       foam clamshells and so on.
