Day 209 - 25 Jan 96 - Page 49
apart, apart from one which seems to have been eight months
apart. Have you got any comment to make on that?
A. Well, the dates were filled in normally before, you
know. You can see on page 18 -- I have found them now --
like you say, there has been a date crossed out to fit them
in and stuff. I think that one might have been a mistake.

On one of them, you can see I did two at once, I think you
can see that, because these are the carbon copies that the
store keep. On pages 17 and 18, I have done two at once,
because I have signed one on top of another one and it has
come through. That is why it has a double signature, on
page 17. That signature is -- fair enough, I am not on
expert, but to me it looks like that same signature.

Q. The one on top?
A. Yes, the one on top of page 17 is, I think, the same
signature as page 18; and what happened there, I believe,
as the standard thing it was, I would not have had a PR for
eight or nine months, and they would do two at once. You
know, I have had to do the first one -- I have had do the
second one, I mean, because that is the important one,
because that is the one he is going to give me my pay rise
on. Then he has just flagged the first one and I have just
had to sign it. That is why I signed over the top.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Sorry, I am looking at page 18.

MR. MORRIS: Page 17 has got two signatures on it, it appears,
one slightly fainter than the other.

MR. RAMPTON: They do not even look remotely similar, to me.

MS. STEEL: The slightly fainter one looks the same as the one
on page 18.

THE WITNESS: If you look under the light, they direct
overlap. I know you cannot use that as evidence or
anything, but ......

MR. MORRIS: Well -----
A. It just means that I was given the second PR first and
asked to sign it, and we went through that, I think, and
then I would have just been asked to sign the first one --
if you know what I mean -- or sign the second one.

Q. You are saying that your signature that you signed on the
first one would have gone through to the second one?
A. Yes. Sorry, my signature on the second one would have
gone through on to the first one.

Q. Yes. These dates of the 21st -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What, do you mean there was a carbon between
them?
A. Yes. I was sitting there having my PR, and he had two
in front of him, and he would have said, "Sign that one",
so I signed it, and then he would have said, "Sign that
one", so I put it on top and signed it.
