Day 262 - 13 Jun 96 - Page 34
left the group, sending some clothes for my son?
A. Do I remember when I left the group?

Q. It is in your notes later. OK. Sorry. (Pause)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is there anything more on 1st March?

MS. STEEL: I do not think so. (To the witness) Can I just
say, you mention in those notes about your lodgings at
Finsbury Park. When you first started attending the group,
that was not where you were based, were you? Was that just
like an office that you took on, so that you could say that
you were from Finsbury Park?
A. I do not remember when I took those lodgings on,
but -----

Q. You were not actually living there?
A. No. I stayed some nights there, but that was not the
place I was actually living, no.

Q. It was somewhere you took on for the purposes of the
investigation?
A. Yes, it was.

MS. STEEL: The next day we have got is 15th March.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Page 99.

MS. STEEL: This was a meeting at Caledonian Road.

"Door answered by John, and by 9.20 p.m., the following
people were present at the meeting: Paul Gravett,
Helen Steel, John, Ben, Alan, Jonathan, and one person
I had not seen before whose name I did not discover."

You can confirm that, yes?
A. That is correct.

Q. What is written in the next bit about poll tax
demonstrations was just a report of some demonstrations,
and then there was a reference to McDonald's restaurant.
You said there that we said we were not any part of that
and we did not even see it. So we were just reporting on,
basically, what we had heard from other people?
A. As far as I am aware, yes.

Q. If it appeared to you that we were admitting any
involvement, you would have made a note of that?
A. Yes, I am sure I would. I suspected no involvement.
That is what was said to me, and that is what I reported.

Q. Right. Thank you. Then, in the next paragraph:

"It was mentioned at the meeting that Aldgate Press had
mistakenly produced 10,000 copies of the 'What's wrong with
McDonald's?' leaflet and were giving them to subject group
free of charge."

Those were the short "What's wrong with McDonald's?"
leaflets; yes?
