Day 061 - 05 Dec 94 - Page 64

most of the abattoirs. I think you said before -- I know
you said Barbara Crawford's visited the beef and pig
abattoirs three times a year, but do you visit them as
       well?
       A. I have been to the beef and the chicken abattoirs.
I have not been to the pork abattoir.

  Q. Does that mean you have been to all of the beef?
       A. No. No, not by any means. I have been to three or
       four of them; not all.

  Q. Barbara Crawford's visits each abattoir about three times a
       year, something like that?
       A. She visits an abattoir around three times a year; not
each. She would do nothing else.

  Q. So once every four months she goes to a McDonald's ----
       A. If she visited each abattoir three or four times year
she would not do anything else.

  Q. That is why I was asking.
       A. No. She visits an abattoir three or four times a
year. It may be a different one each time.

  Q. So how many abattoirs are there say, for example,
approximately that is supply beef to McDonald's?
       A. To McDonald's?

  Q. To McKey's then?
       A. To McKey, we work down through the regions of the
country, so there would be, I do not know exactly, but
there would certainly be one in the Scottish region, one in
northern region, probably two in the Midlands and one in
the West Country that I am aware of. There may be more
than that. Mr. Walker at McKey will give you exactly the
       situation.

  Q. So there are about something like five abattoirs?
       A. As I said, it could be more than that.

  Q. Five or something around that?
       A. It could be more.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have got to a minimum of five.
       A. Yes.

  Q. There are five anyway, but there may be more?
       A. I think so.

  Q. You do not know?
       A. It may be supply and demand. He may have to buy from
more from time to time or less from time to time. So I do
not know the top end of the scale, but there certainly
would not be less than around five.

MR. MORRIS: So would it be fair to say you have approximately,
say, five ones that supply, virtually their whole function
       is to supply McKey's?
       A. No, that would not be fair. They supply other
       customers as well as McKey.
