Day 207 - 23 Jan 96 - Page 58

five, seven and six. You do not think that is many people,
       do you?
       A. I would like to see more at the rap session, yes, than
       six.

  Q. So, do you think the rap sessions were a waste of time?
       A. Personally, no.

  Q. That is generally what the crew thought, is it not?
       A. I cannot really answer that, because I have no
knowledge of the crew saying what they felt about the rap
       sessions.

  Q. That there is not much point in going to them because
nobody takes any notice of complaints anyway?
       A. I have never had that put to me by a crew member.

  Q. For example, on passage 220, where it says: "How useful do
you feel crew meetings and rap sessions are?" "Currently,
not at all. Too infrequent and poorly attended."
Incidentally, the last question in that section
says: "Plenty of advance notice given?" and it says, "No".
Then if you look at page 231, this is June 1994, 17th,
middle of the page: "How useful do you feel crew meetings
and rap sessions are?" The answer is: "Nothing changes".
Does that remind you of being a crew complaint?
       A. No, I have not had a crew member put that to me.

  Q. Crew members are paid to attend the rap sessions?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Can you think of any reason why they do not want to go
       there then?
       A. Maybe it does not -- they try to arrange the rap
sessions, so far as I am aware, at the most convenient time
for the crew. It would be 5 o'clock until the 7 o'clock, 8
o'clock period, depending on how long the rap session
took. As regards why the attendance is low, some of them,
       I cannot really say.

  Q. The reality is because, as we have seen looking through the
documents this morning, crew consistently make the same
complaints and nothing gets done about it; is that not
       right?
       A. There are complaints within the rap session, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Did I understand you to say a few minutes ago
that you cannot remember anything being changed as a result
of something which came out of a rap session?
       A. No, I cannot remember the changes that occurred if, or
       whether they -----

  Q. You can or cannot?
       A. I cannot.

MR. MORRIS: Sorry for dodging about. There is another specific
topic here. Sorry, just on the adjustment audit reports:
You have said that management and crew should sign those.
Can people get access to the report if they have not got a
       personal number?
