MR. JUSTICE BELL: Towards the back. There is a section F. Is
that volume X yellow? Quite near the back, Mr. Atkinson.
There is a divider F and then there is a No. 39. You open
at 39, then go to B after Mr. Hall's statement and you
should find your own.

THE WITNESS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Put it in front of you.

MR. ATKINSON (To the witness): Mr. Atkinson, I have asked you
questions about the first three paragraphs of your
statement, so I think, with his Lordship's leave, I will
not read both out, but I take it you accept what you wrote
in the first three paragraphs? If I start at paragraph (4)
of your statement, that is referring to paragraph (2) of
Mr. Magill's statement, if I read that out: "I did have an
assistant manager called Habeeb who, along with the other
assistant managers, undertook the majority of interviewing
for new crew members. I cannot comment on the specific
remark Habeeb is alleged to have made to Magill. However,
I do know that on some occasions we would interview up to
50 applicants and that, as a result, the interviews did not
tend to be lengthy". Do you stand by that statement?
A. Yes.

Q. Can I ask one very brief question on that, and that is
simply to describe, roughly speaking (and I know it gives
us particular people), what you would have said to someone
at Marble Arch in an interview?
A. Many things -- how did you hear of the job; how will
you get to work; how will you get home from work; what do
you know about McDonald's; what do you know that we do? I
will probably describe the type of work that we will do;
you are on your feet quite a lot of the time; have you
handled money before; have you ever worked with the till --
just many forms along those lines; where have you worked
before?

Q. What were you looking ------

MS. STEEL: Sorry, can we pause before so I can get all those
down, please?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes?

MR. ATKINSON: What were you looking for in someone who came to
work at McDonald's?
A. Somebody who accepts they are going to be on their feet
a lot; they understand they have got to become part of a
team; that we are going to be -- we are busy when people
are hungry; we are busy when -- certain times of the day
are obviously more busy than others, like dinner times, tea
times, breakfasts in breakfast stores; being able to
communicate with customers, with each other; often perhaps
if people have been good at sport they might co-ordinate
well.

Q. OK, if I go on to -----
