MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, may I say this, yes, the years are
important; the reason is that, of course, we have the
documents for your Lordship snapshot months in 1993 and
1994. I have done a lot of work on the basis of the dates
given by Mr. Morris in that note on those documents. I am
not very happy if I am now told that the years are all
wrong.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us waits and see. Just pause a moment.
What I would like you to do is just take a 50 minute break
-- it should be long enough to get a sandwich somewhere or
something like that -- come back to court at 10 to 2 and
just sit on that chair in the witness box and read through
those two sheets again. Mr. Riley will open the court for
you at 10 to 2.
A. Sure, brilliant.

Q. Make a mental note. Do not, whatever you do, write
anything on the document.
A. Right, sure.

Q. Make a mental note if there are any of the dates which you
wish to vary.
A. OK.

Q. Then at two o'clock you can tell me if there are.
A. Right you are then.

(Luncheon Adjournment)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: (To the witness) Did you have a look at the
dates?
A. I have done, yes.

Q. Do you have anything to say about those?
A. On the second page of these two sets of notes there is
-- on the first page, I think, as far as I can remember,
those dates are correct.

Q. Yes.
A. Yes. On the Head Office store audit critical of Bath's
PR practices, I think when we scored an F, I think that was
when Alan Charlesworth ran the store; and that must have
been 1993, 1992 and 1993, that he ran the store. But all
the audits, I think, all the store audits criticise PRs.
I do think we ever -- I think I remember seeing a C. But
they were normally quite bad. There was normally a lot of
criticism of PRs, of the whole system of PRs, because it
was not being followed through.

Q. Yes. The thing -----
A. The thing saying "temperature logging kitchen
freezers", shown not reaching correct temperatures, that
went on from the time we got the temperature logs -- which
I am not sure when, but it was around 1994 that we get the
temperature logs -- and every day the chicken nugget
freezers in fillet and pie would never show -- they would
always show about a minus eight or nine degrees, sometimes
