Day 099 - 08 Mar 95 - Page 87

an eye over the result, without having lots and lots of
documents and without revealing the name of the supplier
if, indeed, there is any hazard there.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I much prefer that solution, if I may
respectfully say so, for all the reasons that your Lordship
has given. For one thing, it saves any blanking out which
is a fiddle and time consuming, for another it may be that
it will put McKey to less trouble which I would be anxious
to do. My Lord, we will attend to all ends of it when we
get back to the office, as it were, tonight and see where
we can get to by tomorrow morning.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What does "VL" stand for again?

  MR. RAMPTON: "Visual lean".

MS. STEEL: Can I just ask one question which is, were any of
the other suppliers that are on front page, APB Blisworth,
because we already have the name for that one.

MR. RAMPTON: I am not disposed to answer that question until
I know the reason for it being asked.

MS. STEEL: The only reason that the names were blanked out was
because, supposedly, to protect their identity. As we
already know the identity of that firm, there is no reason
for blanking that out if that is one of companies.

MR. RAMPTON: There is a reason but I will not go into that
now. The answer to the question is, no.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you know of any other suppliers for
McKey's -- you might as well think about it overnight --
state them, because if they filled in, say, another three
between them of the first 17 and they filled in a handful
of the 1 to 12 in A2, and if you knew of some of the six
additional pork suppliers which have come in because they
would be additional to Bowes, say those. Think about it
       overnight.

I would like you to tell me tomorrow when we come back to
it, if you say the name of the supplier is important so far
as microbiological testing is concerned, which is what this
about, explain to me why, because then it may be valid to
know; whereas if it is just a way of identifying the
supplier by a back door method, that may not be a valid
reason for having the name of the supplier on.

But I will start afresh on it in the morning when you have
had time to consider it and Mr. Rampton has looked at it
further, as he said he is going to. 10.30.
