  Q. Do you ever remember swearing at anybody in relation to
       these leaflets?
       A. No, I do not.

  Q. Do you remember any crew member ever calling you a liar in
relation to that or indeed anything else?
       A. No, I do not.

  Q. During all your time, and I am now going outside but
including your time at Seven Sisters, do you remember
having any discussions with any people in McDonald's,
whether crew members, assistant Managers, or superiors
about the question of trade unions?
       A. None whatsoever.

  Q. Did it ever occur to you that it might be a good thing if
the people at McDonald's, the workers at McDonald's, were
       represented by a trade union?
       A. I have never really thought about it to be honest with
       you.

  Q. Nobody has ever asked you to think about it?
       A. No.

  Q. Has any person higher in the organisation than you
suggested that you should convey the impression to crew
members that if they joined a union they would be sacked?
       A. No, never.

  Q. Have you ever heard of such a thing?
       A. No.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that is the examination-in-chief.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Could we have a few minutes?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Until half past 12 or something like that?

  MR. MORRIS: Yes, please.

                      (Short Adjournment).
                 Cross-examined by the Defendants.

MS. STEEL: You said in your statement that while you were a
Manager at Seven Sisters you went into the crew room and,
whilst you were there, you noticed a small pile of leaflets
       lying around?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. A pile?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are you looking at the statement?

  MS. STEEL: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Because a few minutes ago he said there were
trade union leaflets scattered all over the table.
