Day 168 - 03 Oct 95 - Page 57
is that correct?
A. I would say they are being repaired more frequently
than. They are replacing parts a little more frequently
than that.

Q. What, once a week?
A. About once every fortnight when they went wrong.

Q. He says they were tripping out as often as two or three
times a week?
A. I do not -- does he mean they are tripping out as a
part of the RCD circuit, or does he mean that there was a
specific problem with that chicken vat itself two or three
times a week? I do not -- you see, is my recollection
there was a problem with that particular vat, on a control
board on that particular vat, about once a fortnight.

Q. OK.

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, it is not OK, with respect.
Mr. Morris has not put the one allegation in all of the
stuff about chicken vats that really matters, and that is
where it affected the quality of the products.

MR. MORRIS: When either the chicken vats or the grills tripped
out or had a problem where they were not heating up
properly, or whatever, if the food had gone through to the
customers -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Why not put it as it actually is?

MR. MORRIS: I am first trying to establish --
(To the witness): Some food would be obviously contained
in the vats or in the grills which was a problem, yes?
A. If there was a problem on the grills, say, and there
was a problem with the RCDs and you were cooking meat, then
you would just take the meat off and throw it away.

Q. What you are saying is that it would have affected
customers if it had not been immediately noticed and
stopped?
A. Well, yes, like thrown away.

Q. Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How many Chicken McNuggetts do you have in a
vat at a time or, rather, are there -- you will have to
remind me -- the other chicken patties?
A. You have 12 chicken patties or about 45 Chicken
McNuggetts in a vat at a time.

MR. MORRIS: The complaints customers made about once a week
about undercooked products -- we will have to wait until we
get the documents -- did you get any -- I will save it
until we get the documents.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You had better wait and see what the document
said because Mr. Logan says they did not fill out incident
report forms over undercooked products anyway, so we will
just have to see.
