again. They all differ, depending on their purpose.

  Q. You do not know how many nutrition leaflets you printed?
       A. No, not off the top of my head.

  Q. Not even roughly?
       A. No.

  Q. Has that leaflet been reprinted, the leaflet that the
       300,000 copies were originally produced?
       A. I do not think so.

  Q. Right. In tab 25 there is another memo from Edi Bensilum
from the communications department to Gavin Griffith; do
       you know who he is?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Who is he?
       A. Works in the informations services department.

  Q. At McDonald's Head Office?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Right. This is dated 9th June 1994. "Please can you
arrange for the following message to go down the Hunter
ASAP?" The Hunter is the system that you use to
communicate with all the stores round the country is it
       not?
       A. Well, it does much more than that. It is a time
recorder payroll system, and we have the facility to send
messages back and forth on it too.

  Q. Right. It carries on, "London Greenpeace customer
hand-out. Despite several memos I understand that a number
of restaurants are still displaying this hand-out in their
did-you-know boards. This meant that many of your
customers who previously knew nothing about the court case
are now replying to ask me for further information. This
was not the purpose of producing the hand-out."
       A. That is exactly right. This was not the intention of
making the hand-out. We did not want to inform the world,
we did not intend to make this a big media issue in
people's minds. We wanted to speak directly to individuals
       who had a specific question.

  Q. You were basically concerned that people would find out
about the case, and you had something to hide and did not
       want them to?
       A. Ms. Steel, I have nothing to hide. That is why I am
       here.

  Q. You are ashamed of this case?
       A. No. I wish it had not have gone on for so long, for
sure, but I am not ashamed of it.

  Q. Incidentally, because it is raised by you as one of the
reasons for carrying on putting out information, where it
says "This means that many of your customers who previously
knew nothing about the court case are now writing to ask me
for further information", you are not in a position say
