Day 195 - 04 Dec 95 - Page 39

MR. MORRIS: Is it possible for the witness to show the diary to
       yourself and ------

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, it is not necessary because -- do you
have any objection to Mr. Rampton seeing the diary?

THE WITNESS: No, not at all.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I regret to say there is absolutely nothing
in any of my diaries which would be of interest to anyone
at all. If you do not, then let Mr. Rampton just borrow
it. You can understand that all he will bring out in open
court is anything which he thinks is relevant to any issue
       in the case.

  THE WITNESS: Of course.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you want any longer time? I will not sit
       until 2.00.

MR. RAMPTON: I do not need any longer than that.

THE WITNESS: Excuse me. Will I get the original back?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, certainly. Unless there is some
particular point arises on it, you will be able to take it
away from court when you finish your evidence.

  THE WITNESS: OK.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, 2 o'clock.

                       (Luncheon adjournment)

                 Cross-Examined by Mr. Rampton Q.C.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, maybe I can give the diary back to
Mr. Alimi? There is one entry which he has recorded and I
will refer that during cross-examination, if I may. (To
the witness): Mr. Alimi, do you still have open in front
       of you your three statements?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You were 32 years old when you made this first statement in
       1988; is that right?
       A. Yes, that is correct.

  Q. I think you told us this morning -- correct me if I am
wrong -- that you came to this country about 10 years
before you first started working for McDonald's; is that
       right?
       A. That is right, in 75.

  Q. What had you done in this country before you started
       working for McDonald's?
       A. I had mainly studied.

  Q. Mainly?
       A. Studied. I had done -- I came here as a student and
       I was studying until 1982, and I did a two-year contract
