Day 192 - 27 Nov 95 - Page 22
A. Yes; and I remember her just feeling that she was
mistreated by McDonald's, her being very upset because --
when I knew Sabina, she was a very emotional person; she
used to care about, like, everyone's problems, and
I remember her being run down from McDonald's and just
feeling helpless that she was being treated this way.

Q. In August 1993, you attempted to organise McDonald's into a
union, you have said -- going back to your first statement,
first page. At this time, you were 16 years old; is that
correct?
A. Yes.

Q. Were you still one of the youngest people?
A. Not one of the youngest, but I was in the younger
crowd.

Q. In August -- we will come later to the actual signing of
the cards. But, before the signing of the cards, did
anybody in management know that this was happening?
A. No, nobody -- before we started signing people up, you
mean?

Q. Yes.
A. No.

Q. Nobody at all?
A. Well, Pete Mortson knew that I had an idea of doing
this, and he was Swing Manager; and then, during the

it -- Travis Greenley.

Q. Travis -----
A. Greenley -- Sabina's husband now, I think -- because
when I was signing people up, I went to him, because I did
not know -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am sorry. Can you just slow down again,
speak up loud and clear. There is nothing wrong with your
accent, it is a Canadian accent, but if you speak fast and
drop your voice occasionally, I have to cope with an accent
which is no longer familiar to me. Do you understand?
A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The way to avoid any difficulty is just to
take your time in answering the questions and make sure you
speak up loud and clear.

MR. MORRIS: So, a Swing Manager knew about it before -- he knew
something about it, before the signing of the cards?
A. That is right, that is correct.

Q. After the signing of the cards started -- which you said
you started signing people up on 25th August 1993?
A. That is correct.

Q. At that time, a first assistant called Travis Greenley --
how did you know that he found out about it?
A. Well, I told him about it. I believe it was within the
first couple of weeks of September, when I was still
