Day 151 - 10 Jul 95 - Page 17

worked for the Company, when their start date was, what
their wage rate was. What information would you get on the
screen for an individual if you typed in a particular
       payroll number?
       A. I do not know.

  Q. You have never done it?
       A. I did it a long time ago, when it first came out.
I would be guessing that their start date, their date of
birth and, probably, their wage rate would be on there.

  Q. If somebody moves to a new store -- we have the example of
somebody moving to Glasgow from London, I think?
       A. OK.

  Q. The manager there can type in their payroll number and get
the information out. There is nothing to stop a different
store from getting that information, is there?
       A. I would be guessing, but I think, yes, there is,
because I do not think -- this is not my field, but
I mean -- no. I am not too sure. I would be guessing.
I would have thought that each individual store has only
access to its own people. I mean, I would find it
surprising -- I do not know, but I do not think I could sit
in Glasgow, punch in a payroll number for Frank Stanton
123, if I was at a store in London, and my details would
come up, because then everyone would have access to
everybody's details and all mayhem would break loose. So I
would think, subject to, I suppose, the guys in Information
Services telling me otherwise, that that would not be
possible to do -- for obvious reasons, in terms of personal
security and protection of their details.

  Q. But Head Office, in any event, would be able to do that?
       A. I do not know.

  Q. Head Office must be able to get any individual's details?
       A. That is not -- I do not know.

  Q. You do not know. Can Head Office send details to a store,
to a manager in a store, of an individual in another
store? If you work in a store and you want to know -----
       A. I do not know. Yes, I know what you are saying.

  Q. Someone has arrived at your store and claimed that they
worked at McDonald's, you know, a month ago or just left
some other store, and you do not actually know, how do you
check it up? Can you not phone Head Office?
       A. Again, I have to be subject to what the Information
Services people could advise me. But unless I knew the
restaurant in which they had previously worked, I do not
think we would be able to pull them up. I do not know. So
it is only just trying to -- helpfully, trying to provide
some guidance. But if we did not know the restaurant -----

  Q. But if they said the name of the store ---
       A. Right.

  Q. -- and said, "Oh, I was in such and such store, I have just
come from such and such store and moved into here", you
