Day 263 - 14 Jun 96 - Page 56

  Q. "Others drifted in later, though no further formal
introductions were made. Names subsequently mentioned
included Paul, Richard, Bob and Dave". Dave, I assume, is
       Dave Morris; is that right?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you remember if Paul was Paul Gravett or not?
       A. He could have been, but I am not sure. I cannot be
certain. I feel it probably was, but I must emphasise I am
       not certain.

  Q. Turn over the page, please. I would like you to look at
the bottom of the page. ".... International Mail Out.
Dave ... and who arrived at 9 p.m., spoke of the annual
Mail Out by London Greenpeace to other interested groups
involved with animal liberation, ecology and anarchism.
This was to be an international Mail Out. Publicity would
be given to such matters as International Anti-McDonald's
Day on 16th October 1990, the campaign against the
International Monetary Fund and the move to abolish state
       orders.

"The speaker" -- that, I take it, is Dave -- "suggested
that members might give thought to going to Moscow on 16th
October 1990 to demonstrate outside the new branch of
McDonald's there." Then there is something about the cost
and something about Chernobyl, which we have already seen
       from your statement.

Then you write this: "Finally, he said that the
International Mail Out would include the customary
McDonald's factsheet", which you have just identified.
Where did you get the word or the words "fact sheet" from,
       do you remember?
       A. Well, I would think it would not have come from me; it
would have come from the speaker.

  Q. Then over the page we see this, "Dave, by now controlling
the proceedings, spoke with enthusiasm about the
proposals", and so on and so forth, "One of the themes
would be Anti-McDonald's". The last paragraph of the
indented part under "Fayre" says, "The meeting broke up at
about 10.10 p.m.. Leaflets were collected and are
attached. Donations were made by all present to pay for
       the room."

You have told us in your statement, Mr. Russell, that one
of the documents you took away from the piles on the table
was the so-called fact sheet; is that right?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What did you do with it when you took it away?
       A. Along with all the others, I took it away and attached
them to my written report which I gave to Hartley the next
day, together with the collected leaflets.

  Q. Did you observe whether or not any other people present at
the meeting took away copies of that fact sheet?
       A. Yes, I think they did. My recollection is that they
did, although I would not have stayed long after the end to
