  Q. Right. Are you talking about more than half of the kitchen
area of floor or are you talking about more than half of
       the stores in the country?
       A. I would say the majority of the stores in the country
had a non-slip floor material in the kitchen area where
       they were designated to be.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, and these particular places in the
       kitchen area?
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: Right, but some did not?
       A. There might have been some in the early days, yes, but
like I said, from the time that I joined the Company when
I used do the feasibility plans, all the stores that I drew
up specifically for the London region had a non-slip area.

  Q. That is what you were putting in?
       A. Yes, but it was not Altro at the time.

  Q. It was not Altro at the time. Was it the first type, first
two types, of tiles that you showed us?
       A. That is just two examples of the various type of
non-slip floor that we used to put into the kitchen area in
       the non-slip areas.

  Q. But they were roughly the type that you were using?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Just to confirm, it is tiles No. 1 and 2, that kind
       of -----
       A. That kind of tile which had a non-slip property
       inherent in it.

MS. STEEL: When did the Company start using Altro, start
       fitting some stores with Altro?
       A. I would say roughly about 89/90.

  Q. Right, and Altro was replacing the type of two tiles we
       have just looked at?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Because, presumably, the Company thought it was better?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You do not know what proportion of stores eventually came
to have Altro fitted on the floors in areas of the kitchen?
       A. Well, most of the new developments that we were doing
       invariably had the Altro flooring.

  Q. The new stores would?
       A. The new stores would, yes, and that would be all across
       the regions.

  Q. In terms of retrofits, is that just the ones that we saw on
that sheet -- I think there were 11 stores?
       A. Yes, that was just one area of retrofit within our
       region.
