Day 085 - 08 Feb 95 - Page 16

       A. I do not know -- I would not like to say one way or the
other. I do not know the exact detail of what they do
       there.

  Q. If we move on to 862, Conclusions, it says under 5.3:
"Also there was no director recognised as having lead
responsibility for health and safety, and this topic was
not routinely on the agenda At Board or Executive Managers'
meetings". Is there now a director recognised as having
lead responsibility for health and safety?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So that is different from what it was then; a new post has
       there been created?
       A. It is not a new post, no, but there is an individual
       who has that responsibility now.

  Q. Who is Jill Barnes?
       A. No. She is not on the board of the company. Andrew
Taylor is the board member that has responsibility for
       health and safety.

  Q. Right. Do you know if it is routinely now on the agenda at
the board or executive managers' meetings?
       A. Yes. I have to prepare reports for the board meetings
on health and safety, so it is.

  Q. You have seen those minutes, have you?
       A. No.

  Q. Do you have a mission statement containing commitment
       towards health and safety?
       A. We do.

  Q. You do not know if the topic is actually on the agenda at
board or executive managers' meetings, do you? You know
that you make a report, presumably, to Andrew Taylor, but
you do not know if it is actually on the agenda?
       A. It is on the agenda and it is presented because I get
feed-back from Andrew on it at meeting, although I do not
       see any Minutes.

  Q. If we go to 5.5: "There was variation in the way 'hustle'
was managed, but in many restaurants it was considered
acceptable for employees to run". I think this came up
yesterday about "hustle". What is your comment about that?
       A. I think that -----

  Q. Does that happen in some restaurants?
       A. Hustle?

  Q. That it is acceptable for employees to run?
       A. I would say it would be very rare that you would see
       them running in restaurants nowadays.

  Q. Has there been some kind of crack down on running?
       A. I would not say we needed to crack down on it, just
occasionally when it got busy people would move, go faster
       than was safe, maybe.
