MR. RAMPTON: I see. (To the witness): Your date of birth is
       23rd August, 1974?
       A. Right.

  Q. You tell us that you joined the McDonald's Restaurant in
       Orangeville in November 1988?
       A. Right.

  Q. So does that mean you were 14 when you joined?
       A. Yes, I was.

  Q. Were you living at home?
       A. Yes, I was.

  Q. Were you at school?
       A. Yes, I was.

  Q. Did you have your parents' approval to work at McDonald's
       at the age of 14?
       A. My parents wanted me to get a job.

  Q. They did?
       A. Yes.

  Q. For what reason did they want you to get a job?
       A. Well, they figured at 14 I am old enough to get a job
and learn some responsibility, so they suggested I go out
       and look for a job.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You really have to concentrate quite hard.
It may not be natural for you, but you have to do your best
to speak up so that everyone can hear, including me. My
hearing is not as good as it should be, and I am supposed
       to hear every word.
       A. I am sorry. Do you want me to repeat the last answer?

  Q. Yes, I think it would be a good idea. It will be practice
       for you.
       A. My parents said that: "At 14, you are old enough to go
and get a job and learn some responsibility", so they asked
me to go out and find a part-time job.

MR. RAMPTON: Do you remember why you chose McDonald's?
       A. Not really. I put applications in different places,
and I guess they were the first one to call me; so it might
       be one reason.

  Q. So you have now reached the age of 19?
       A. Sorry?

  Q. Are you now 19?
       A. No, I am 21.

  Q. Sorry. I am looking at the year 1993. Of course you are
       21. So you have worked now at McDonald's for eight years?
       A. Seven.

  Q. Sorry. I will get it right in a moment! Are you still a
