Day 079 - 27 Jan 95 - Page 19
four years after you helped set up McKey Food Services
Limited) you think there ought to have been a dissemination
of the information system so that it got to you?
A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: I think I have finished with that document for now.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is a few minutes before we normally break;
do you want five minutes now?

MS. STEEL: I will just finish something off.

MR. MORRIS: The Public Health laboratories, are they important
bodies?
A. Yes.

Q. Are they important bodies in terms of monitoring food
poisoning incidents?
A. Yes.

Q. Are they statutory bodies?
A. Yes.

Q. They are statutory bodies. Do they have a role in terms of
prosecution of those responsible for food outbreaks?
A. Yes.

Q. They do so. If they did an official report into a food
poisoning incident which has been admitted by McDonald's,
in fact, you would expect to get a copy of that report if
you were involved, would you not?
A. If there was a prosecution, yes.

Q. No. If they had made a report, you would expect to have a
copy, would you not?
A. Yes.

Q. Can you give any explanation that you can think of how it
is that you could not have had a copy of this report?
A. No, I cannot, but what I can say is that standing here
and now, for all I know, in my technical offices with my
group Technical Manager there may be a copy of this
report. All I can say is I have never seen this report.

Q. McDonald's have admitted responsibility for this food
poisoning incident -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you do get a witness, one of the things I
would like to know is what the distribution is because it
has "Confidential" on the front of the report. I do not
know whether that means it only goes to government
departments or not even to all of them.

MR. MORRIS: If it helps -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have the answer you have got from
Mr. Walker and it may be they are distributed to interested
parties but -----

MR. MORRIS: To save complication, we got it from a solicitor
