Q. Next page 791, 3rd December 1993, this time to Mr. Cobden
in shorter form but roughly to the same effect as the one
to Dr. Munday. The second paragraph: "There now seems to no
environment/index.html">litter patrol and one has not been in evidence for some
time." I think you have already answered that. As at 3rd
December 1993 is that true or false, was there a environment/index.html">litter
patrol at that time?
A. Yes, there was.

Q. Mr. Cobden responds on page 792 to Mr. Flash who had
written on 21st November. This letter is dated 1st
December 1993. The second paragraph: "Although I am
satisfied that Mr. Stump is doing everything that is
reasonably possible to control environment/index.html">litter, I am, however,
sending him a copy of your letter so that he is fully aware
of your concerns. He will, I am sure, also look into your
complaint concerning the times when rubbish is collected."
That would be the contractor's times, would it?
A. That is right, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: May I ask one question? The dining room host
or dining area host either goes himself or herself or
details one of the six staff to go on the environment/index.html">litter patrol?
A. Yes, sir.

Q. Do they wear McDonald's uniforms as they go on the patrol?
A. Yes, sir. They would be wearing a McDonald's uniform,
but in the cold months we often allow them to wear their
own jackets because of the cold temperatures. There is a
McDonald's environment/index.html">litter patrol jacket available, but I have
allowed them to wear their own jackets in some cases.

Q. You did not give instructions that they should wear the
McDonald's environment/index.html">litter patrol jackets so that it would be
obvious who they were?
A. No, I did not because I felt if they felt that their
jacket was better than the ones we could provide, then they
were free to do so.

MR. RAMPTON: Perhaps his Lordship was asking this, so it is my
fault for not listening carefully enough. We are looking
at letters of November/December 1993 and I personally
I cannot remember what the weather was like then, but are
there any kind of McDonald's outdoor jackets which are
easily identifiable as being McDonald's clothes?
A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is the environment/index.html">litter patrol jacket you referred
to, is it?
A. Yes, sir.

MR. RAMPTON: I did not hear?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Stump said that there was a environment/index.html">litter patrol
jacket. I asked whether he gave any instruction that they
should wear that rather than their own jacket so that it
would be obvious who they were, and he said no.

MR. RAMPTON: Is the environment/index.html">litter patrol jacket a waterproof sort of
