Q. "The marketing people make sure I am constantly reminded
2 of this and that I never venture off the straight and
narrow. My best advice to you for making your Ronald
3 McDonald's visit great is to invest your time and money
wisely and use me to build your business"?
4 A. Yes.
5 Q. Then on to page 104, there is a mention about a smoke
signals competition which says that you had marvellous
6 press coverage?
A. Yes, for a most worthwhile subject.
7
Q. Yes, but it is not the subject that had marvellous press
8 coverage -- it is McDonald's, is it not?
A. I would call it joint mutual.
9
Q. On the next page on 105, it is talking about the Lord
10 Mayor's Show?
A. Yes.
11
Q. It is talking about your float and wanting to give your
12 float a McDonald's land feeling?
A. Yes.
13
Q. On the bottom line of the first column, it is saying about
14 "children and characters dancing away beneath the magical
golden arches in a landscape of milk shake mountains and
15 Cola rivers"?
A. Yes.
16
Q. It gives a picture?
17 A. What I typically expect to see in a float in a parade.
18 Q. But part of the McDonald's experience?
A. Fun, yes.
19
Q. Fantasy land?
20 A. Fun.
21 Q. And a fantasy land?
A. No.
22
Q. No? What, you see milk shake mountains and Cola rivers in
23 real life?
A. I think when you are talking about a float in a
24 parade, people are allowed some degree of literary
licence.
25
MR. JUSTICE BELL: The photographs have not come out very well,
26 but who is "Grimace"?
27 MR. RAMPTON: Your Lordship will see him later; he is a kind of
a blob!
28
MR. JUSTICE BELL: So I have to suppress my excitement.
29
MR. RAMPTON: And your curiosity, yes.
30 A. Can I answer?
