Day 129 - 25 May 95 - Page 14
Q. Were there any memos or letters sent out to the other
stores as a result of the Shrewsbury incident?
A. We did not think there was a need to because the
restaurants already know that the serving of a correctly
cooked product, what we called "product integrity" is,
like, No. 1 in terms of what they should be considering.

Q. But one store had got it wrong; you did not think it was
worth sending around a reminder to all the other stores?
A. What we did was set up the swapping over of the timers
in every restaurant, so they were all advised of that, and
that was co-ordinated by the Equipment Department.

Q. When was that?
A. Well, it was shortly after Shrewsbury. I am not quite
sure when Shrewsbury happened now, but the fitting of those
timers is something that has happened in the last few
months or so.

Q. What, this year?
A. It would have been completed this year. I think
Shrewsbury was the end of last year.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If the date put to you is correct, it is only
six months ago?
A. The end of last year. Just so you are aware of the
level of importance, the fitting of those timers is
something Andrew Taylor, the Chief Operations Officer, has
followed up on personally with the Equipment Department to
make sure it is being done.

MS. STEEL: I am more or less finished but I wondered
whether -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us have a break now. How long do you
want?

MS. STEEL: About a quarter of an hour. I have questions about
the electricity and Mark Hopkins, but because Dave is doing
it I would rather -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If what you want to do is leave that to him,
fair enough. If, contrary to our present expectation, he
cannot come, I will give you an opportunity to go back to
that, but we are not anticipating that to happen.

MS. STEEL: He is definitely coming tomorrow anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will resume at about 20 to 12. If you
need more time, then tell Mr. Stiles.

(Short Adjournment)

MS. STEEL: I was going to ask a couple more questions.
I presume you know that Mr. Morris is not going to come
this afternoon?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. We will deal with that in moment, but
you ask what you have to ask.
