"Paul seems to be an author of all antiMcDonald's
       leaflets".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You do not have to read it all out.

MR. MORRIS: Or may be "the" author?
       A. I do not think it says "the" does it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let Miss Steel carry on. I was merely trying
to be helpful because we could not find the reference to
main activist and I only read out one. Mr. Rampton only
read out very limited parts of the note.

MR. MORRIS: Do you also recall that Mr. Gravett said on several
occasions that he was going to update the antiMcDonald's
fact sheet and write a book or a booklet about McDonald's?
       A. I remember him making reference to that, yes.

  Q. And this went on for a considerable period of time, did it
not? That Mr. Gravett would turn to writing, and said he
was going to write an antiMcDonald's fact sheet, a new
updated antiMcDonald's fact sheet and a booklet about
       McDonald's?
       A. I do not recall for how long that went on, but I can
see it in my notes under 18th January.

  Q. Right. You do not remember anybody else in the group
complaining and saying to Paul, "Look, what are you doing?
You have been promising to write this new fact sheet for
months on end now. We desperately need it so we can carry
on with this campaign. Can you get on with it?"
       A. I do not recall that.

  Q. You do not recall anything to that effect?
       A. I do not recall it. It may have been said. I do not
       recall.

  Q. You would have made a note of it if it had been said
because it would have been of interest, bearing in mind it
was about the fact sheet that you were investigating about?
       A. I may have done. I do not know.

  Q. So if it is not in your notes we could take it that it did
       not happen?
       A. No.

  Q. So you might not have bothered to make a note of something
       that is important as that?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. You have made a number of question: "You
would have made a note". I have got to bear in mind the
witness said he wrote down the significant matters which he
recalled. It is quite refreshing, but no comment on
whether I will accept Mr. Claire's evidence or not, but it
is quite refreshing, to hear a witness say they put down
what they recall rather than saying they put down
absolutely everything that happened word by word verbatim
with not a full stop missed out. So you have got to bear
that in mind. It is perfectly legitimate to ask him:
"Would you have done it?" But I am assuming it is with
