Day 258 - 07 Jun 96 - Page 40

  Q. But that included advising them of who you considered to be
       people involved?
       A. No.

  Q. Well, you said that on the last occasion as well. You said
that you did not instruct them -- I asked you about whether
you instructed them that you were already aware of my
identity and Mr. Gravett's identity, and you said no.
Could I ask you to get yellow 2, the publication bundle?
       A. Yes.

  Q. If you turn to Mr. Pocklington's statement, I am not sure
what number he is any more.
       A. 7 according to that. Yes, 7.

  Q. Then, behind that, there should be some notes and the notes
we want are the notes of 2nd November 1989.
       A. Sorry, the?

  Q. The notes of 2nd November 1989.
       A. Yes.

  Q. Mr. Pocklington, I think, said that the first meeting that
he infiltrated was one of Hackney and Islington animal
rights on 2nd October 199, this is a month after that. But
this is the first actual London Greenpeace meeting which
Mr. Pocklington infiltrated, according at least to his
       notes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. If you look in the first paragraph?
       A. Yes, I see it.

  Q. Towards the bottom it says 'Helen fits the description of
Helen Steel described by client company in the letter
accompanying photographs'. So, in fact you did give
instructions to the private investigators to look out for
certain people who you considered to be the core members of
       the group?
       A. No, I did not.

  Q. You did not?
       A. No.

  Q. Did then?
       A. I did not write the letter, I did not even know a
       letter had been written.

  Q. It says 'the client company'?
       A. Yes, well, I did not write the letter, I interviewed
the two managing directors and I did not identify any of
       the people concerned to them.

  Q. So you were not told that somebody had written telling them
to look out for certain people?
       A. No, that is the first I knew that any letter had been
written. I deliberately did not commit anything to paper.

  Q. You were aware, though, that photographs were being taken?
       A. Yes, I arranged for those to be taken.
