Day 260 - 11 Jun 96 - Page 42

  Q. OK. It was not that there was some formal decision that
everybody in the group had to go; that is not what you mean
       by that?
       A. No.

  Q. In your report, in the last sentence, you say:

"All in all, a quite important day for the group and one
which was to be attended by several of the so far distant
members, namely, Dave Morris, Helen Steel, Gabriel, not yet
known of, and Charlie, also not yet known."

What did you mean by "so far distant members"?
       A. That I had not seen that much of them up to that time.

  Q. In terms of who was expected to be there, you do not know
where you got that from, whether it was something that
       somebody said, or what?
       A. I would imagine it would have been a result of several
people saying that they intended being at the fair.

  Q. But say for me, for example, you do not know whether it was
something somebody else said; you do not remember a
specific thing where I said that I am going to that
       demonstration?
       A. I cannot say that I heard you say it, no.

MR. MORRIS: So, for example, referring to myself and
       Helen Steel ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- which you said we were going to attend that event -- you
said "namely, Dave Morris, Helen Steel, Gabriel and
Charlie" -- that must have been somebody else would have
said, "Oh, they are going to attend"?
       A. It is highly likely.

  Q. Yes. Neither of us did attend, did we?
       A. I do not know, because I did not attend the march
       myself.

  Q. Whether you attended the march or not, neither of us
attended the events afterwards that you were part of it,
did we, according to your notes?
       A. I do not remember -- reading my notes, it appears that
I did not see you either in the afternoon or in the
       evening.

  Q. So, did this kind of informal -- people saying that
so-and-so supported such and such in the group, and
so-and-so would be there, was that fairly normal, that
people would say one thing but it did not turn out in the
end that that would necessarily be the case?
       A. I reported that both you and Helen Steel were due to be
at the march simply because you were names of interest.
The fact that you did not turn up is -- I cannot say that
       it was normal or otherwise.

  Q. But I am just saying in terms of the general nature of the
       group?
