Day 189 - 20 Nov 95 - Page 29

  Q. Who was running that meeting?
       A. Steve Copeland. I mean, it was between -- the
discussion was between Steve Copeland and, well, basically
       myself and whoever was around.

  Q. What happened? What did you say?
       A. I got a bit fed up. I felt like we were being just
ripped off, the whole thing, and I just told him. So
I said: "Ireland may be a green country, but the people in
Ireland are not green" -- words to that effect. That was
it. I was very annoyed with him at that stage, and I did
not want to talk to him any more.

  Q. Did you see Steve Copeland in any other capacity?
       A. Yes. He used to -- he was around for a good portion of
the dispute, and he used to go upstairs and in McDonald's
-- they have like a bay view window, like a semi-circle of
glass, and he used to take photographs of us through that.
Then I saw him talking to another American gentleman, who
was -- I think he was -- they had like a vigilante group in
McDonald's in America. He used to wear a beret. He looked
like -- I do not know.

  Q. So, was he security or something?
       A. Maybe, yes.

  Q. What did you feel about him taking photographs?
       A. I felt it was intimidation.

  Q. We have heard a lot about the strike. At the end of the
       strike, what happened to you?
       A. Well, we went back to work. Shortly afterwards, I was
waiting for a colleague, a girl, outside the locker room,
and one of the management said: "What are you doing
outside the locker room?" I said: "I am just waiting for"
-- it was a girl, Maria Wall, I think, at the time.

  Q. Sorry?
       A. Maria Wall I think I was waiting for at the time, who
was a girl who was working there. I think it was her. It
was a girl, anyway; I cannot remember her name. But,
anyway, an argument had developed between me and the
management, because he started saying: "There has been a
number of thefts", and so he was implying that I was there
to steal. So I got very annoyed and very angry.

  Q. What did you say?
       A. I asked him, if he was sure I was there stealing, call
in the police here and now, and if he wants to search me,
search me. That was it. I was fuming at that stage.

  Q. Did that incident have any effect on you?
       A. Yes. I felt very unsure of -- I thought that they are
going to try and plant a theft at that stage, or something
       like that.

  Q. Was there ---
       A. It was very worrying.

  Q. Was there any other incident?
