Day 267 - 21 Jun 96 - Page 37

have taken part or to have witnessed the event." There is
nothing remotely like an admission that we were involved in
       rioting, is there?
       A. Well, my notes say to the contrary.

  Q. Then Mr. Pocklington has got: "It was mentioned at the
meetings that Aldgate Press", and he has got Aldgate which
is right, bearing in mind that you have mentioned Aldgate
previously in your notes. So, it clearly was not Organic
Press that was mentioned, was it?
       A. I am relying on my notes and that is what I made a
       note of as being mentioned.

  Q. Why do you not accept that your notes are incorrect on this
       occasion?
       A. Because that is what I made a note of at that time and
that is what I am relying upon.

  Q. So, your memory was incorrect?
       A. No, I made a note following that meeting and that is
       what I have written down.

  Q. You just wrote down any old thing and you did not take any
care about what you were writing.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You must move on from the point.

MS. STEEL: This is the final question I am going to ask on
that. You just wrote down any old thing and you did not
take any care about what you were writing, did you?
       A. I disagree with that comment.

MR. MORRIS: Are you saying that Paul Gravett got the name of
the group that you were involved -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, do not answer this question. Please move
on. If you have got a good point, you must have laid the
ground for it several questions ago. Just coming back to
it because you cannot get the witness to agree with you is
       totally unproductive.

MS. STEEL: OK. If we move on to the 12th of the 4th of 1990.
This is a meeting at Caledonian Road. It is page 21 of
       your notes.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that is 105.

MS. STEEL: "Persons present: Paul, Jane, Ben, new man, new
woman, Gabriel and a new couple from Kent", and then you
have underneath the blanked out part, "Paul admitted to
using 'Aldgate Press' to print their McDonald's forms."
Do you know what a form is?
       A. It would probably refer to literature of some kind.

  Q. Basic talk about unrelated topics. Do you know who the
"their" is? "'Their' McDonald's forms", or whether it is
Hackney and Islington Animal Rights or London Greenpeace?
       A. I would assume, from looking at that, London
       Greenpeace.
