Day 073 - 13 Jan 95 - Page 57
rather than put him off into the future, you understand?

MR. MORRIS: Yes, I appreciate it is an incentive to finish in
three days.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Finish Mr. Pattison on Friday 13th. You have
the whole of your half term on Monday 27th March and then
we go to Mr. Gomez Gonzales. If you finish him within the
week you have got more time for preparation. We then go to
Mr. Chambers, subject to availability, on Monday 6th, hope
to finish him in two days; go to the Jarret witnesses in
the remainder of that week and Mr. Wignall on Monday 13th.
That is the plan which we will have to adhere to.

MR. RAMPTON: May I take instructions on one matter, my Lord,
before I sit down?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, please do.

MR. RAMPTON: I am grateful to your Lordship. I do not need to
raise anything.

MR. MORRIS: Can I just say something? I apologise for trying
to impose my will on the court, but I do get a bit upset
when Mr. Rampton makes personal comments. I do not believe
that solicitors in a case, however long and complex, make
personal comments at each other, so it would be helpful if
we did not do that in this case.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I wish that were true! It is 4 o'clock on
Friday afternoon. Let us leave it there.

(The court adjourned until Monday 16th January, 1995).
