Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 46
up to him. Can you turn to tab 18 of that 1A volume.
A. Yes.

Q. That is the advertisement for the October 16th
demonstration?
A. Yes, it was an A5 leaflet.

Q. Sorry?
A. I think it was an A5 leaflet.

MR. MORRIS: An A5 leaflet.

MR. RAMPTON: Whatever, it is a hand-out, it is meant for
distribution to the public, is it not?
A. It is not for distribution en masse to the public, no.

Q. But it is meant to be sent to like-minded groups, perhaps?
A. Yes.

Q. The Hackney and Islington Animal Rights would get one, I
expect?
A. Yes.

Q. Veggies would get one?
A. Yes. It was probably put in the mail out that year.

Q. Yes, you told us, I think this morning, that at London
Greenpeace demonstrations outside the Head Office on 16th
October you would get people from other groups turning up.
I think you said there were some Veggie people on the 16th
October 1989, did you not?
A. Well, I said that yes, people did come along, people
from Veggies and other groups did come along.

Q. And you see this one, which is 1987, Friday October 16th,
is advertised for 8-10 in the morning. Do you see that?
A. Yes.

Q. Would it surprise you if a few people, maybe three or four
people, whom you did not know, turned up late in the
afternoon of Friday, 16th October, perhaps from different
groups from yours, having overcome the transport
difficulties and having responded to this hand-out of
yours?
A. It would surprise me, yes. Yes, it would.

Q. But you were not there, were you?
A. I did not go to the Head Office that day, no, but I
was on the other two pickets, and I think if I was I would
have heard if there had been something done at the Head
Office. I do not think someone would have just gone to the
Head Office without going to the other lunchtime and
evening pickets as well. I was on both and I do not
remember that ever being mentioned.

Q. Why does it matter to you so much, Mr. Gravett, that there
should have been nobody there on the afternoon, say from
4.30 onwards, of 16th October 1987?
A. It does not matter to me so much one way or the
other. I am just telling you what happened on the day.
