1 others who have, therefore, adopted it something similar
              themselves?
2 A. So the question, therefore, is: Are we a leader?

3 MR. JUSTICE BELL: You are on packaging still?

     4 MR. MORRIS: Yes.

5 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Your method of your serving food.

6 MR. MORRIS: Has it caught on by other companies in other
              countries?
7 A. It is a common practice in what we call the quick
service restaurant industry to use disposable packaging.
8 It has also caught on in other food service applications
which require quick service and also high levels of
9 sanitation. You will see it in day-care centres, you will
see it in hospitals quite often -- where quick service is
    10 required.

11 Q. But would you say that McDonald's the pioneer or one of
the pioneers of this form of food service?
    12 A. I do not know.

13 Q. In some countries such as you mentioned a few, Costa Rica
or, I believe, Mr. Kouchoukos mentioned South America as a
14 whole, this kind of packaging, this kind of styrofoam,
disposables packaging, even paper board packaging, is that
    15 a fairly recent phenomenon since McDonald's -- what I am
saying is that traditionally in, say, for example, South
16 and Central America, would people have used your kind of
packaging in the past before McDonald's started in those
    17 countries?
              A. You mean before McDonald's existed?
    18
         Q. Before you came into those countries?
    19 A. I have no idea.

20 Q. You do not know?
              A. I can only tell you that once McDonald's started we
21 used the packaging that you described.

22 Q. Right. But that was something new. You do not know. Is
              that something new?
    23 A. I have no idea. I would just -----

24 Q. Is it not your job to be aware of traditional practices in
              the countries where you operate?
25 A. Is it my job?

26 Q. To know the traditional practices in the countries where
              you operate?
    27 A. Relating to packaging?

28 Q. Yes, relating to packaging?
              A. No. No, I would describe that as the job of the
29 country purchasing manager or other people within that
country. I would describe my job as identifying those
30 technologies that are new, innovative, interesting. To
carry on your example, if we found a technology in South
