Day 074 - 16 Jan 95 - Page 59
February and this meeting is but a week later. It looks as
if, with or without justification, the local residents were
complaining still about environment/index.html">litter among other problems, and at
the meeting on 19th February it was agreed that McDonald's
would look into and, if necessary, intensify their number
of environment/index.html">litter patrols.
A. My Lord, that might have been a cursory mention of the
environment/index.html">litter, but most of it was discussed on the smell. That is
why Keith Smith was there.

Q. You are just being asked if it was a topic, that is all,
and I would have thought you have only got to look at the
documentation to see that the answer to that is "yes".
A. Actually I do not remember.

MR. MORRIS: It says at 5, "Dr. Taylor promised in the future to
contact Keith Smith." Who is Keith Smith?
A. He is the person in charge, or he was at the time, for
air conditioning and things related to air conditioning.

Q. All right. That is on that issue. It seems that
Dr. Taylor was not satisfied, was he, around this time on
behalf of all the residents associations in the ward which
he represented; he was not satisfied, was he, that environment/index.html">litter
was still a problem, is that correct, as far as the
residents considered?
A. Dr. Taylor, whenever we met we did not discuss environment/index.html">litter.
The only thing we discussed was smell.

Q. If we look at 779, the next letter ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do not forget you have gone four months past
his period now.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. This is September 1993.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Ask him, if you like, if there was any
contact with him after he left about any continuing.

MR. MORRIS: Yes, sorry.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: He left in May 1993 and Mr. Stump came in.

MR. MORRIS: He is looking back since his last meeting on 17th
November 1992, that they have monitored the impact since,
so that covers some of the period that you were still
there, yes?
A. Right.

Q. When did you leave again?
A. I left in May 1993 I think it was.

Q. At the bottom of that page he concludes that The patrol
system has broken down and gets prompted by phone-call
complaints. Why did the residents association consider
that your patrol system was breaking down from time to
time, or that it was ineffective or that the problem was
continuing? What did they say to you? When you did speak
to them at these meetings, did there seem to be a
difference of opinion between yourself and the residents
