Day 068 - 16 Dec 94 - Page 66
that is your one and only chance to complete your
cross-examination.

MS. STEEL: I also heard Mr. Rampton mutter several times about
things to bring up in re-examination, so it sounded like he
was likely to want a while as well.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It may be. For all I know the loose ends
which have arisen during Dr. Gomez Gonzalez evidence may be
picked up by Mr. Cesca or someone else, but it may be the
right person to pick them up is Dr. Gomez Gonzalez himself,
I cannot say. You are not being given an ultimatum to
finish on Monday or else.

MS. STEEL: No, I am not arguing. I want to say something
else. Mr. Rampton insinuated this morning that we blanked
out this document and covered up the date. In actual fact
the original, although it is not very clear, it does have a
date stamped on it. I think Mr. Rampton ought to withdraw
his offensive comments that he made this morning, the
insinuation about us.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We had the date on it anyway. What is the
date on the top corner?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, there is a date on the back page. I do
not accept that even this is a date put on by the people
who sent. It looks more like a receipt stamp.

MR. MORRIS: If he wants to suggest that we are forging
documents as well as covering them up, I mean, what are we
doing? Are we forging it or are we covering it up? The
date is on it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think we should all go away for two days
and return in the best of humour on Monday morning at
10.30.
