Day 240 - 24 Apr 96 - Page 43

me a bit that they will not do August, but I can understand
why not and I can understand why the London Borough of
Haringey is upset about it. So long as I have enough
notice in the sense I know which days they are so I do not
       schedule anybody -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think they have to decide fairly soon.

MR. RAMPTON: I agree, but I would be quite happy with that -
anything from the 20th onwards; I would prefer from the
       beginning of June, actually.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That may be put upon us, but I want to give
them as much scope as possible.

What I would ask you to do -- I know it is a bore -- but I
would ask everyone to hang around for a while. If anyone
wants to go away, try and make it for not more than a
quarter of an hour or 20 minutes or leave a message where
you can be rung. If you went back to the Temple,
Mr. Rampton, we will ring you.

MR. RAMPTON: I would not do that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you wanted to go anywhere, then let us
       know.

MR. MORRIS: I do not know if Mr. Glen wants to come with me, or
       I should -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, we will make the communication on our
own, and the communication at this stage is going to be
only with the London Civil Trial Centre.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I understood your Lordship to say that
there may be other things we need to think about today in
       relation to Friday anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There were, but I want to be with Mr. Glen
when he makes his phone call.

MR. RAMPTON: I understand that. But what I mean is we will
have to come back to court anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You will have to come back to court anyway so
we can have, what I hope will be, a very short discussion
on who you were going to read on Friday.

  MR. MORRIS: Yes.

                        (Short adjournment)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have spoken to the Listing Office at the
Central London Civil Trial Centre, and it may be that
Mr. Glen will come back shortly. Let us look at the Civil
Evidence Act witnesses. The ones I have marked,
Mr. Morris, as Civil Evidence Act witnesses in this section
of the case -- but there is absolutely no reason why you
should be restricted to this section of the case -- are
       Herr Haneker ---
