     1
If the figures had not been satisfactory, would she be
     2 under pressure?
              A. What sort of pressure?
     3
         Q. He says that -----
4 A. The figures are what the figures are.

5 Q. "As far as I am aware, the Northumberland Street
restaurant was not under any pressure. The figures prior
6 to this week were quite satisfactory.
              A. And Mrs. Heron was not under any pressure from me
     7 about her position.

8 Q. If we go to the statement of Rabbi Mahindra which is page
17 -- if someone could help us, if they could find it --
9 it is the previous one, pages 30 and 31; it is 1905?
              A. OK.
    10
         Q. It says at the top: "I am employed by McDonald's as first
11 assistant manager". That is a responsible position, is it
              not?
    12 A. Yes.

13 Q. Then halfway down the page it says: "On Saturday,
14th December I was working in the restaurant and I came
14 to work about 3.50 that day. It was busy. Our
manageress, Patima Heron, had been working the day shift.
15 I can recall her telling me that the senior supervisor
Jasper Mauldsley had been asking why we had been doing
16 decreases in business when compared with our restaurant in
              Newcastle."
    17 A. Yes.

18 Q. Is that normal for people to discuss and compare?
              A. Absolutely normal part of business.
    19
         Q. Then as we turn over the page: "Less than an hour later
20 Paul Buckingham, the market manager, came into the
restaurant of this store and I served him". So, is it not
21 the fact that the market manager was coming into the
restaurant -- well, that is what it says, "came into the
22 restaurant on the day of the incident"? In fact, at the
time of incident. It says: "No mention was made about a
23 hoax bomb call to Burger King. At that time Helen had
gone home". Is it your understanding that he was there
    24 during the incident?
              A. I have no idea. It just says here he, Paul
25 Buckingham, came into the store with his daughter.
I assume he was maybe a customer out for a bite to eat.
    26
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Someone had better educate me a little about
27 this. Was there a prosecution of anyone?

28 MR. MORRIS: Yes, she was jailed.

29 MR. RAMPTON: Yes, but it is not something about which
Mr. Preston can give any direct evidence at all. He was
30 not. But I think it has been admitted anyway. It is a
very regrettable incident to ring up Burger King
