Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 28

       A. Again it is wrong. You did not organise the 1990
fayre. You did not play any part in it, really. "Solid
member of group", well, we have already heard, have we not,
from Mr. Pocklington that you had hardly been coming to the
group for months, you know. I do not know what he means by
       solid member, you know.

  Q. Then it says at the bottom of the page:

"Dave - admitted to being involved strongly in
anti-McDonald's campaign. Organiser of last year's fayre.
Involved in a lot of other..."

       Forget that. At the bottom:

"Definite member and activist of anti-McDonald's".

Forgetting the word "admitted", have you got any comment
       about that?
       A. Well, you were not an anti-McDonald's activist, I
would not describe you. I have never known you to be an
anti-McDonald's activist, Dave. I have never seen you in
my life, as far as I remember, on an anti-McDonald's
       demonstration or handing out --

  Q. Even since the writs were serving?
       A. No, not since the writs were served, no. Sorry, I will
correct myself there. Prior to the writs being served in
1990, I cannot recall ever seeing you on an anti-McDonald's
demonstration that I went on. You did not express a lot of
interest in the campaign either, except to say that you
thought the group should not be involved in it, certainly
       from 1988 onwards.

  Q. Can you remember any specific thing that you can recall,
any specific activity that I had done in the
anti-McDonald's campaign since you joined the group?
       A. No, other than go along and help at the two fayres,
just as a lot of other people had done, doing odd jobs on
the day. That is all. I mean, it is important, also I
would like to point out it is important to state that the
       anti-McDonald's fayres were not anti-McDonald's fayres. I
mean, there was a broad range of issues there, you know. It
was not just all about anti-McDonald's at all. If you look
in the programmes, you will see that.

  Q. Actually one question about the 1990 fayre.
       A. Yes.

  Q. Which was changed to London Greenpeace Fayre?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Was there anything specifically about McDonald's at the
       1990 fayre?
       A. Anything specifically about McDonald's? Not that I
can recall, no. There certainly were not fact sheets
there. That fayre took place just after the writ had been
issued and I seem to remember that we were very hesitant
about what we could and could not show there. So I do not
think we took any anti-McDonald's leaflets ourselves, as
