Day 074 - 16 Jan 95 - Page 37

  Q. So this part of the route was not actually fixed?
       A. This one is because it is such a short distance in that
way, because it will, Walpole -- because what happens is if
you are going past Leonard's Terrace, Royal Avenue you can
see all the way through. So, if there is environment/index.html">litter you will
pick up quickly and you go into the next street. It
depends whether there is environment/index.html">litter there.

  Q. So if there were cars parked up there you would not bother
to look between the cars then?
       A. No, you would.

  Q. If you could not see any on the pavement?
       A. Physically, you glance through and if there is
something, you pick up, you come out and you go into the
       next street, into Walpole Street.

  Q. The patrol would not always walk up Royal Avenue?
       A. It will because what I am saying is that because you
are passing here Leonard's Terrace, you can see Royal
Avenue all the way through. If there is environment/index.html">litter, you can
see it because it is such an open place with open grass
area in the middle that you can see. But you go through
Walpole, you come back out on to the Kings Road and you
come back into the Royal Avenue and finish at the back door
of the McDonald's in Barnet -- sorry, McDonald's in Kings
       Road.

  Q. So Walpole street is always done on this route?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What about Cheltenham Terrace?
       A. No.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is the one down the side of the Duke of
       York?
       A. No, no, Cheltenham, that has not -- no.

MS. STEEL: Can you just go back to Royal Avenue and explain
exactly what happens with Royal Avenue?
       A. Royal Avenue, you go into Walpole Street, you come out
on Kings Road where it says 47, No. 47 on the road.
Right? You come back then into the Royal Avenue. Royal
Avenue is just like a square. So, you start from one side
of the Royal Avenue. Then you have to come out on
Leonard's Terrace for a very short unit, that is a grass
patch which you cover; back into the Royal Avenue and that
takes you back into your -- to our McDonald's in Kings
       Road.

  Q. There are actually two streets in Royal Avenue, are there
not? There are two streets and in the middle there is a
       section with gravel?
       A. Yes, because you come out -- you come out of Walpole,
come on to the Kings Road. Then it is just like a "U" or
you can call it a square.

  Q. So you are now saying they would go down one of the streets
in Royal Avenue and come back up around the other one?
