Day 021 - 29 Jul 94 - Page 63
1 case. What I would like you to look at is another
document reflecting you said repeatedly in
2 cross-examination. My Lord, this is in yellow bundle V,
tab 3 it is a statement by Mr. Alastair Fairgrieve who
3 will be giving evidence later in this case. Have you got
some coloured charts at the back of that statement? Have
4 you got to tab 3?
A. Yes, I have got to tab 3.
5
Q. We are not sure what volume we are on.
6
MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is yellow V.
7
MS. STEEL: What subject are we on as well?
8
MR. RAMPTON: Nutrition.
9
MS. STEEL: What specific part of nutrition?
10
MR. RAMPTON: You will hear in a minute.
11
MS. STEEL: I am curious to know how this comes out of
12 cross-examination.
13 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Wait and see.
14 MR. RAMPTON: We will see in a moment.
15 MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is Mr. Fairgrieve at tab 3.
16 MS. STEEL: Yes.
17 MR. RAMPTON: Can you pass Mr. Fairgrieve's appendix AF1 and
appendix AF2, Professor Wheelock, where there are some
18 tables of who eats what? Then you should come to a
document on its side which looks like that. It is called
19 appendix 3 apparently.
A. Is this in the blue tab?
20
MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is after an orange divider in mine. One
21 will be handed to you. (Handed).
A. Frequency of Visit.
22
MR. RAMPTON: That is the thing. You repeatedly said in answer
23 to Ms. Steel's questions in cross cross-examination, that
the only concern you had (I am summarising I hope
24 accurately) about the nutritional merits or demerits of
McDonald's food was how often people ate it. That applies
25 not just to McDonald's food but to any kind of food, as
I understand your evidence, is that correct?
26 A. Yes, that is right.
27 Q. Please look at this table. Bear in mind that the figures
in this table have not yet been proved as evidence in this
28 court. Assume, if you will, that they will be?
A. Yes.
29
MR. JUSTICE BELL: If these were right.
30
MR. RAMPTON: If these were right, just look at them, do some
