Day 267 - 21 Jun 96 - Page 39
sending out antiMcDonald's leaflets in the replies; yes?
A. I would probably have sent out such documents, yes.

Q. Right. After you had had this letter answering session,
there was, in fact, a meeting, was there not?
A. Not that -----

Q. Where six people attended, seven people attended?
A. Not that I have recalled and not that I have made a
note of.

Q. Would you like to look at Mr. Pocklington's notes for the
19th April, 1990?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Next page.

MS. STEEL: Mr. Pocklington says: "As instructed, I left the
office at 7 pm on the above date and travelled to the
office of subject group at 5 Caledonian Road N1 where I
arrived at 7.30 pm. By 8.15 pm all the people due to
arrive at the meeting were present. At the meeting were
Helen Steel, Dave Morris, Jane Lapporte, Marion, Alan
coming from Catford", which is you, "and a girl I had not
met before called Gabriel." Then there is a part that is
blanked out. Then it was pointed out, "During the meeting
that the next meeting would be held at 6 Endsleigh Street",
and then he says shortly after that: "Nothing further of
interest was discussed at the meeting and we left the
office at 9.45 pm."

So, bearing in mind that the meeting started at 8.15 pm in
his notes it went on for one and-a-half hours. Can you
explain why it is that you have -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Before you go any further, can I just have a
look at the book, please. (Same handed). Can you see what
you have written before April? It is obviously over
written as well, but can you see what it is?
A. It has been written over, sir. No, it has definitely
been written over though and amended.

MS. STEEL: Can you explain why it is that Mr. Pocklington has
got a record of a meeting where seven people were present
that lasted for an hour-and-a-half and you say that there
was no meeting, that you just spent the time answering
letters with Jane?
A. I did not say there was no meeting. I said only Jane
was present, but I do not recall, no.

Q. You were just writing anything down in your notes, were you
not, just to keep your pay cheque coming in?
A. Not at all. I disagree with that.

Q. What other possible explanation could there be for the fact
that you failed to record that there was a meeting and that
seven people were present at that meeting?
A. I do not recollect.

Q. If we just point out that the previous week that we have
got notes for on page 21 was the 12th April, so there
