Day 174 - 17 Oct 95 - Page 28
not be lobby hostess any more?
A. We had done away with the position.

Q. You had done away with the position?
A. Yes.

Q. That was at the end of the strike, was it, that you decided
to do away with that position?
A. I cannot remember the date we did away with it, but we
certainly did away with the position.

Q. Some time towards the end of the strike?
A. I cannot recall the date.

Q. Do you have lobby hostesses now?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you know of any other McDonald's store anywhere in the
world that does not have the lobby hostess position?
A. I do not, but then I do not know the conditions of
every other McDonald's throughout the world.

Q. You have visited a fair few hundred, I should think?
A. I visited, probably in the UK, quite a few.

Q. The ones in Canada that you worked in, they had lobby
hostesses?
A. Yes, they had, just prior to our leaving. It was not
something that was always there.

Q. She took you to the Rights Commissioner to claim unfair
dismissal because of her union activity, and they ruled in
her favour; and you had to pay her some money, yes; is that
correct?
A. Yes, I remember that, yes. She did go to the Rights
Commissioner and she was paid money, yes.

Q. Do you remember how much it was?
A. No, I do not, I am sorry.

Q. If it is of any help, I spoke to her on the phone, and she
could not remember whether it was 400 or 500, something
around that region. Does that refresh your memory?
A. No, it does not.

Q. Sean Mrozek, do you recall him from the strike?
A. Yes, I do.

Q. He wrote an affidavit, if we notice, in one of those
picketing hearings. So he was one of the main organisers
from O'Connell Street; is that correct?
A. Well, he was picketing consistently, yes.

Q. From day one?
A. Yes.

Q. He had also spoken up at the previous meetings in the store
-- do you remember you referred to him -- before the
strike. He also went to a Rights Commissioner, did not he?
A. I have no recollection of that.
