Day 035 - 12 Oct 94 - Page 74
MR. RAMPTON: I will do my best.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am very anxious about Friday morning,
I have to say, Dr. Barnard. Your evidence is important to
the Defendants' case and it is in an area of the case
which may be thought to be particularly important. You
have no guarantee, I am afraid, of catching your plane on
Friday morning on the basis that I would like you to stay
and finish your evidence this week rather than go back and
have to come back later at even greater expense and
inconvenience.

THE WITNESS: Thank you, I appreciate that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is all I can say and leave you really
to take whatever course is best so far as your flight is
concerned.

THE WITNESS: Thank you, my Lord.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have to say it is a problem which arises
in these courts with professional witnesses and especially
professional witnesses who come a long way. It is
unhappily not something at all special to this case.

I will rise now. We will resume at 10.30 in the morning.
