Day 150 - 07 Jul 95 - Page 50

terms of people who actually have to do the job, there can
be some things highlighted that a manager may not really
have considered previously. It is almost suggestions, so
       to speak.

  Q. Do you did receive information from rap sessions at
       Colchester in the mid 1980s?
       A. Yes, I did.

  Q. Was it a good/bad picture that was thrown up of Colchester
from the point of view of the crew that attended the rap
       sessions?
       A. They were good rap sessions. Good in terms of -----

  Q. Did it cause you any particular concern as opposed to any
other store about what you were hearing?
       A. There were no contentious issues raised by the rap
       sessions at Colchester.

  Q. Were you ever the subject of criticisms at Colchester rap
       sessions, you personally?
       A. No.

  Q. Have you ever been the subject of any criticisms at rap
       sessions?
       A. No.

  Q. Then one final question: Did you chair a rap session ever
at Colchester itself? You were the Area Supervisor and you
have said that the general practice is that people do
not chair them there, but could it have happened that you
       did?
       A. I do not really recall the situation. If the visiting
Supervisor had not attended, then we may well have decided
to go ahead with it. But I cannot recall a situation.

MR. ATKINSON: That is it, my Lord, as far as I am concerned on
       rap sessions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will resume at five past two.

                       (Luncheon adjournment)

MR. ATKINSON: Going on from rap sessions, Mr. Stanton, there
are just a few further issues that I will ask about before
you are cross-examined. When you were Area Supervisor at
Colchester in the mid-1980s, were you satisfied with levels
of food hygiene at the store?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Were you happy with rotation of stock?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Were you happy that holding times for sandwiches, and
       whatever, were adhered to?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did you ever give any instruction to the Store Manager,
Mark Davies, to water down the drinks that were served to
       customers?
