Day 112 - 31 Mar 95 - Page 32

  Q. Do you have a copy of the letter which was sent to you
giving reasons why you were dismissed? Mr. Morris produced
       some yesterday.
       A. Yes, I have a copy.

  Q. Is it there?
       A. No, I do not have it here.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Perhaps you could be handed a copy because it
was handed to me separately; 3rd May 1994.

MR. RAMPTON: I am going to read it out.

  MS. STEEL: Read it out?

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

  MS. STEEL: Is it admissible?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I only want you to read it out in so far you
are actually going to put something to the witness,
       Mr. Rampton.

MR. RAMPTON: I am not just going to read it out; of course I am
going to put something to the witness. I will not read the
       first two paragraphs.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think you just should read out the bits you
want to put, not the whole of it, unless you are going to
put it sentence by sentence to her.

MR. RAMPTON: It says: "During the short period"-- this is the
third paragraph -- "you have worked with us at Alec Jarrett
Limited we have had to deal with many complaints about
yourself from the abattoir owners, and several complaints
from Kingswood Borough Council". Pause there. Do you know
anything about those complaints, Ms. Hovi?
       A. It was mentioned to me on the phone by my employer a
couple of times, and also at my home, he came for a dinner
at my home during the week, he was in charge of the OVS
duties at the abattoir while I was on the course, he put to
me complaints about my stand on the BSE certification.
I have witnesses to that statement, that complaint that my
employer made, because he was standing at my home at a
dinner party. I have submitted those testimonials to the
Royal College which I wish would deal with this case rather
       than this ......

  Q. What about the Local Authority? It is the Local Authority
on whose behalf you are discharging your duties as the OVS?
       A. Yes, that is right.

  Q. Did they make any complaints to you personally, the Borough
       Council?
       A. No, none whatsoever during the time I worked there.

  Q. When we will move on. The letter goes on: "Whilst not
disagreeing with most of the improvements you have required
of the abattoir" -- what improvements did you require of
       the abattoir, if any?
