Day 119 - 02 May 95 - Page 52

MR. MORRIS: I will make an objection to Mr. Rampton making
       objection.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, you cannot do that. He is entitled
       to -----

MR. MORRIS: I think the witness should leave the room.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just calm down.

MR. RAMPTON: Mr. Morris, is making false point. I did not ask
Mr. Nicholson about this section. I asked him about the
section to do with, I think it is, guidelines and
responsibilities which is an earlier section, and the bit
about communication, but I think it was guidelines and
responsibility, which is in section 3, page 130. I checked
to see whether I asked him about this and I certainly do
       not think that I did.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I remember the point on page 130 because you
were asking about notice boards ---

MR. RAMPTON: Notice boards, yes, exactly.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- in relation to that. I do not remember,
       Mr. Morris ---

MR. MORRIS: All right, fair enough. I apologise.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- Mr. Nicholson saying that it was -----

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I do ask that when I stand up to make an
objection Mr. Morris should observe the ordinary etiquette
of the court which is to sit down. He may think it is a
rotten point I am making and, if I am, your Lordship will
       tell him so.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, it is not a Punch and Judy show. The
point is if someone stands up, then it is best just to sit
down, let them get on with it. If you think it is totally
ridiculous, the point they have made, then tell me that
when they sit down and you can stand up. You have to show
a bit of control or it gets a bit like a cuckoo clock, but
       try to follow that procedure.

MR. MORRIS (To the witness): So, as far as it says: " ... not
making statements or disclose to any person, including
press, radio and media representatives, any information
relating to the Company, its business or affairs, its
customs or finances", does that apply equally to any
outside organisation or is that specifically geared just to
       the media and trade unions?
       A. No. It says -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is it geared to trade unions at all, so far
       as you are aware?
       A. No, it would include trade unions but it is not geared
to trade unions; they are an outside body, but no more than
       to any other outside body.
