Day 101 - 10 Mar 95 - Page 64

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Why not just ask him if he can quote any
       authority for the proposition.

MS. STEEL: Are you able to that?
       A. If I can quote any -- sorry, I did not hear that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Any authority for the proposition that
antibiotics used for chickens are so far from those used
for humans that you said there could not be an issue, for
which I will substitute "that there could be no concern",
in relation to human health arising from that?
       A. I am afraid I cannot quote where I got that information
       from.

MS. STEEL: Could we have five minutes? I think we have more
       or less finished.

MR. RAMPTON: So long as your Lordship will allow me to finish
       my re-examination this evening.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, I have gone on because I would like to
finish Mr. Kenny, subject to any question of any future
documentation, if possible. But let us have a break now
anyway. What is your best prognosis at the moment so far
as the remainder of your cross-examination is concerned?

MS. STEEL: At the moment we do not even know whether we have
any more questions, but we just want to check.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Very well, you would like to think about it.

MR. MORRIS: Five minutes should be enough.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will -- unless it gets absurdly late --
       finish your re-examination.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I am only just a little nervous it might
be more than 25 minutes perhaps.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If and when there are any further documents,
if there is any question of a recall of Mr. Kenny, we can
just discuss that, but that is not for today. Is five
       minutes enough?

  MS. STEEL: I think so.

                      (Short Adjournment)

MS. STEEL: One thing I wanted to ask. Some of the chickens
that Sun Valley use for the rest of Europe are reared in
other parts of Europe, are they not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. But they are slaughtered in the UK, are they not?
       A. No, that is not correct.

  Q. That is not correct. That is something that Mr. Oakley
       said.
       A. All the chickens that are used for the UK are raised by
Sun Valley in the UK and slaughtered in the UK, but they do
