values, there is probably no danger.

  Q. The Government is giving these recommendations with the
intent that children aged 5 and above do not go over those
       recommendations?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Sorry, those recommendations for children aged 5
and above, that has been applicable since 1984, has it not,
       since COMA advised that:

"Children over 5 years and above should moderate their
dietary fat intake along with the rest of the population."

       That is in paragraph 7.6?
       A. Yes.

  Q. It says: "This approach has received general endorsement"?
       A. Yes. Some pediatricians have reservations but, in
       generally, it has not altered.

  Q. There is one point in this book I wanted to look at which
was on page 28. It is in 1.5.9. The last sentence, the
last full sentence 4 lines up:

"If our recommendation to reduce dietary saturated fatty
acid to about 10 percent of dietary energy were
implemented, mean plasma cholesterol levels would decline
by about one eighth and the proportion requiring individual
intervention according to EAS criteria would decline from
23 per cent to 6 percent."

You would accept that, would you?
       A. Well, yes, I have no reason not to.

  Q. The point being that there could be quite dramatic health
benefits from what seem to be quite small changes in diet
in terms of the number of people affected?
       A. Yes. Predictions of this kind have been around for
quite a long time. Whether they are actually achieved in
practice when people make recommendations is quite a
       different matter.

  Q. Right. If I can move off that book for a while and I would
like to go to the World Health Organisation.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us take a break now

                       (A short adjournment)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Unless anybody has a specific objection, I
think we should carry on without the Caseview.

MR. MORRIS: Now, in an order to attempt to find the World
Health Organisation Study Group Pamphlet, "Diet Nutrition
and Prevention of Chronic Diseases", I am not sure where it
was put in the files. I do not know if it was put behind
Doctor Neil Barnard's statement or where really.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have it behind divider 11 of a pale blue
