association?
A. I cannot speak on their behalf, but as far as I am
concerned we had done our utmost to make sure that all the
problems were rectified.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What you are being asked is this, and you may
have an answer, you may not, that if the picture was that
on the one hand you were saying, and Mr. Stump has said,
that really McDonald's were making a pretty good shot at
clearing up the environment/index.html">litter and, on the other hand (we will have
to wait and see what the evidence is) that residents were
not happy with the McDonald's environment/index.html">litter situation, what you
are being asked is do you have any explanation yourself for
any such difference of opinion?
A. No, I do not, my Lord.

MS. STEEL: Could I ask a couple of questions? How many
meetings do you remember taking place with Dr. Taylor and
people from head office, formal meetings, not where you
just bumped into him in the street?
A. I was present at one meeting which took place at Kings
Road.

Q. You do not know whether that was the February meeting or
the one in February 1993 or the one in November 1992?
A. I know it was attended by Philip Cobden and the
gentleman which I have given the name, but I do not know
exactly which gentleman that was.

Q. In the letter on page 780 it says: "At our last meeting you
may recall I asked if you would provide a person to pick up
this rubbish on a full-time basis, as apparently you do in
Norwich. This would certainly alleviate the situation and
provide a positive McDonald's imagine." Do you remember
Dr. Taylor bringing that up?
A. No.

Q. You do not remember that?
A. No, I do not.

MR. MORRIS: Some McDonald's stores in this country do have
full-time environment/index.html">litter people, is that correct?
A. I am not aware of that.

Q. What about some of the drive-throughs?
A. I have never worked in drive-throughs, so I am not
aware.

Q. Most of the letters following seem to be after your time.
Yes, if we just go to 781, this is a letter from
McDonald's?
A. That is 3rd November 1993.

Q. 3rd November 1993 where Mr. Cobden went down to the area,
the last paragraph on page 1, "It was very evident during
my visit that although there was no McDonald's environment/index.html">litter in
the area, there was considerable amount from other
sources", yes?
A. This letter is after my time.
