Day 265 - 19 Jun 96 - Page 41

notes here about what Mr. Morris said or the impression
that you got about his involvement in the antiMcDonald's
campaigns and his responsibility for leaflets and so on and
so forth and for the affairs. Were you given any special
instructions about Mr. Morris before you joined this group?
       A. I recall he may have been mentioned or I may have been
advised that he was a member of the group.

  Q. Yes. You think, although you cannot be sure, that you were
shown that photograph or a similar photograph?
       A. Yes. That is correct.

  Q. Before you joined?
       A. Yes. That is correct.

  Q. Do you think there is any room for a suggestion that you
were predisposed to, as it were, enhance the role played by
Ms. Steel or Mr. Morris before you joined the group in its
       antiMcDonald's activities?
       A. No.

  Q. Can we then finally, so far as I am concerned at least, Mr.
Claire, move at 10th May 1990 which is on page, my Lord 115
at the bottom. 26 in the top left-hand corner. The
relevant statement reference is paragraph 9 little Roman II
       of the fourth statement.
       A. Sorry? Page?

  Q. I am sorry. 115 at the bottom; 26 in the top left-hand
       corner?
       A. Right.

  Q. Date, 19th May 1990. Meeting at Caledonian Road. Not a
meeting, according to your notes, attended by either Mr.
Morris or Ms. Steel. "Paul Andrew Anthony and me" and then
there is something about "Andrew and poll tax", which I
need not bother you with. And you have written this:
"Anthony is not as radical as others. No leadership. Not
involved with organization of McDonald's." Can you first
of all help me with what you meant by the words if you can
remember: "No leadership in relation to Anthony."
       A. I recall that his participation in the meetings was
minimal, in that he simply sat in the room and that was
purely it, as far as I was concerned.

  Q. Did you ever hear him say: "Oh, come on. Let us get on
with the antiMcDonald's campaign. Let's give it another
       kick."
       A. No, not that I recall, not at all.

  Q. Did you hear him volunteer to go to a picket or
demonstration and hand out antiMcDonald's literature?
       A. No.

  Q. Did you ever volunteer him take part in the London
       Greenpeace annual fair?
       A. No sir.

  Q. I just want, if I may, to just check that there is no other
date in the notes that I want to refer to, if your Lordship
