  Q. If I continue to read: "In the five years I worked at the
Bath store, part and full-time, I became well respected up
until I left, receiving excellent performance reviews as
well as obtaining the highest mark the store had ever
gained from a 'mystery diner' survey on one of my shifts,
which was 93 per cent. (Mystery diners were people paid by
McDonald's to visit restaurants unannounced and complete a
detailed survey on service, quality, et cetera).

"In the early part of 1994 I was offered promotion but
I did not accept it, partly because of my concerns about
the Company's attitude towards employees, specifically crew
       members."
       A. Can I say something there, because I think Mr. Richards
said that he did not believe I had ever been offered
promotion. I never filled in a form to say, yes, I would
like to be promoted, but had an interview, along with two
other people, with Paul Pearson, the Supervisor, as to
whether we could go salaried or not, and I had an interview
with him. At the end of this interview, he said, "Yes,
I will accept you." Another person was accepted and one
person was told they could not. Then a few days later
I said I would have to think about it, and then I said
I did not want to do it.

I understand that I would have had to go on a probationary
period to be a salaried Manager there. But, you know,
I had already worked for the store five years. It was not
as if I was going to go in not knowing what the job was or
       anything.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But the promotion would have been to salaried
       trainee Manager, would it?
       A. Yes, yes. He said he had high hopes for me.

  Q. Yes.
       A. Can I also mention here that it was mentioned that
I rang up and asked for my job back three weeks after
I left, or something, because my contract had fallen
through, or something; and what I would like to say is that
when I left McDonald's I was going to go and do some work
for a chap designing lamps, art deco lamps, but
I dislocated my knee and my leg was in plaster for ten
weeks. So that is why that fell through. But I did not
ever ring and ask for my job back.

You know, I think it was implied that I was bitter or
something, and I did not. You know, once I left, I left.

MR. MORRIS: If I can continue to read: "I believe McDonald's,
through its actions and not its publicity, treats its
employees as a cost and not a resource, giving little
regard to their rights or well being."

That was your statement that you made. Do you, subject to
the clarifications and amendments you have made, take that
       as your evidence?
       A. Yes.
