Day 046 - 04 Nov 94 - Page 52

I thought, if I may say so, that sentence, as one would
strictly read it, has already been modified both by
Mr. Hawkes and by Mr. Green, because you are both only too
happy if children do encourage their parents to come to
McDonald's. All you are saying, as I understand it, in
that sentence, you do not actually have an ad which shows a
child asking their parents to go to McDonald's?
       A. That is correct.

MS. STEEL: Right. Again, it is something that I will leave
       that for now.

I just wanted to go back to the Hamburglar. I think there
was a thing that said that "no one expects payment"; is
       that right?
       A. Yes.

  Q. In terms of the Hamburglar. Do you ever show money in
       McDonaldland?
       A. I cannot remember a case where we did.

  Q. You do not think you do?
       A. No, I do not believe we do.

MS. STEEL: Right, okay. I just wanted to show a video at this
       point.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can we arrange that? Can you help again?

THE WITNESS: I would be glad to.

                   (The video recording was shown)

MS. STEEL: Do you know who that man was?
       A. Barry -- maybe you could help me out?

  Q. No. I do not know.
       A. He was well before my time. I am trying to remember
his name. I am not sure whether -- he may have worked for
the advertising agency. He looks familiar. I cannot tell
       you exactly.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When did he leave, or when did he stop----
       A. This was well before my time.

  Q. So more than 20 years ago?
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: What is this a shot of?
       A. In the earlier commercials, this would have been a
       ronald mcdonaldland set.

MS. STEEL: Right. So this is McDonaldland?

  MR. RAMPTON: Was.

THE WITNESS: Yes. I think this looks like what was shot in
the early -- in the late 60s, early 70s.

MS. STEEL: So is it vastly different now?
