Q. Was it as frequent in farmyard hens?
A. Yes, I believe it was a commonly found disease.

Q. How is that treated at Sun Valley Poultry?
A. The routine treatment is to include a drug called a
Coccidiostat in the feed and there are a number of
different coccidiostats that can be used and they are
either antibiotic compounds or they are chemical compounds
depending on which one we choose to use.

Q. Is that one of the ones we have mentioned already or is
that a different one?
A. No, I think I have referred to them already as either
antibiotics or chemical compounds. I have not mentioned
any individual ones by name.

Q. Is there a problem with septicaemia on farms?
A. Septicaemia?

Q. Yes.
A. E.coli septicaemia is a disease that we do see from
time to time.

Q. Is that a disease that is associated with broilers, in
particular?
A. It is a disease that is -- yes, it is normally seen in
broilers.

Q. That would include Sun Valley as well?
A. Yes, it would.

Q. What about salmonella enteritidis?
A. Salmonella enteritidis is a cause of septicaemia in
broilers.

Q. Is that a problem at Sun Valley? Has it been a problem at
Sun Valley?
A. We have had cases of it in the past. We do not see it
any more.

Q. Since when is that?
A. We were as a number of other poultry organisations saw
salmonella enteritidis infection when it seemed to become a
problem generally in the country three or four years ago,
and it infected some of our breeding flocks and was
transmitted to the broilers. So, we had to treat them for
septicaemia.

Q. What percentage of birds was involved?
A. It is difficult to say exactly, but it could have been
up to five per cent of the birds were infected at any one
time.

Q. How long did that last for then?
A. Before, from getting the infection to getting rid of
it, it probably took us about 18 months.

Q. What are the effects of that -----
