  Q. But that did not apply to 16 and 17 years olds who could
work at lower than the minimum wage, the so-called "youth
       differential"?
       A. I do not remember what the age category was.

  Q. Do you remember that the -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Why give them a time? Was that geared to
length of holidays, something like that, school or college
       holidays or vacations?
       A. No, I think that was geared to any time during the
year. To any employer that wished to hire students, they
could do so for a period of time and that was to -----

  Q. So that might just be the first so many days of a much
       longer period of employment?
       A. That is correct. That is my recollection of it.

MR. MORRIS: But any company with a high turnover of staff would
       benefit from that?
       A. It could.

  Q. Do you remember the representative of the district in which
McDonald's headquarters is based -- I always get confused
between the Senate and the Congress in America -- do you
remember there was a representative called John Ehlrenborn
who represented the area that McDonald's headquarters was
       based in?
       A. John Ehlrenborn is -- was a member of the House of
representatives from Illinois, yes, from Du Page County in
       Illinois.

  Q. Is he still there?
       A. He was a former -- he is a former representative.

  Q. Was he there for a long time in that position? 10 years,
       15 years or something?
       A. Something like that, I think.

  Q. So, effectively, if McDonald's wanted to bring anything up
formally or put its point of view, he would be the person
that they had to go to, would he?
       A. That would make some sense. It would seem to me that
if he, John, was a representative for Du Page County, or a
good portion of Du Page County, where our headquarters is
located, and if we had a point of view that we wanted to
express, he certainly could have been a spokesman for us.
It seems to me he has been a spokesperson for us on a
       number of issues.

  Q. Yes. Do you remember that at the time when the youth
differential brought in he was the staunchest defender of
that youth differential on the Special Labour Subcommittee
that was concerned with that Bill?
       A. No, I do not know that to be the case. I mean, that is
the account given in the book. I do not know that to be
true. I mean, that is his version of it.

  Q. Do you remember that he was on that Special Committee that
