Day 133 - 12 Jun 95 - Page 28

       please ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Could you just pause a moment, Mr. Rampton?

MR. MORRIS: Could I just make one point that part of the
problem with finding the right papers is that these were
all served in the last few days, a lot of these documents
were served very recently, and note of it appears in
Ms. Mead's statements. I just make that as a point rather
       than an objection.

MR. RAMPTON: If you turn to the back ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Let us see where we go and if you have
received during Ms. Mead's evidence-in-chief explanation of
a document and you want a little time to think about it,
then let me know. Yes, Mr. Rampton?

MR. RAMPTON: The last document in the new bundle, Ms. Mead, is
number H. It should be three pages to the back. I do not
know what order you have them in. They are all headed
       "McDonald's Opinion Survey".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Will you hold it up so that I can see it, Mr.
       Rampton?

MS. STEEL: There is also, I do not know, the copy that we got
this morning, some of figures are missing on the -----

MR. MORRIS: I have written them in.

MR. RAMPTON: Ms. Mead, which is your first page of those three?
       A. It is the one with the sections Rewards, Communications
       Schedule.

  Q. I hope everybody is in the same order. Is it dated June
       1994?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Does it give a figure for the number of crew surveyed as
       17,875?
       A. Yes.

  Q. How many of the Company's, let us say, 30,000 employees or
so hourly paid workers would you expect to be able to
       survey at any one time?
       A. Well, because of people not being there and being
part-time and so on, that is actually quite a good return,
       I think.

  Q. It is, is it?
       A. Yes.

  Q. If you have a return from nearly 18,000 people, would you
regard the results as sufficiently reliable to give
       attention to them?
       A. Certainly, yes. That is also what the consultancy who
       conduct it would agree with.

  Q. I am not, you will be pleased to hear, going to go through
