       A. No, I do not.

  Q. How good is your recollection now of events in 1990?
       A. I can recall general events but--

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Claire, you do let your voice drop. Do
       speak up?
       A. Sorry.

  Q. And also as a kindness to me. As I have said before my
hearing is not as good as it was. I have to strain to
catch every word, it makes us even more tired at
quarter-to-3 than I would otherwise be.
       A. I am sorry, sir.

MS. STEEL: Can you remember what happened on specific dates,
or anything like that, or are you entirely reliant on your
       notes?
       A. I am reliant on my notes.

  Q. OK. Do you remember specific words said by specific
       individuals?
       A. No. I do not, sir.

  Q. And do you remember the extent of your involvement in the
       group?
       A. Yes. I recall my activities.

  Q. Right. So you would recall that on more than one occasion
you were involved in answering letters and sending out
       antiMcDonald's literature in the replies?
       A. No, I do not.

  Q. You do not recollect that?
       A. I recollect from looking at my notes recently on one
occasion, but I do not recall.

  Q. That is based on your notes. And you said that recently
the notes that you had seen, you did not see all your
notes, you just saw photocopies, certain pages. So would
you accept, in fact, it was on more than one occasion that
you were answering letters and sending out antiMcDonald's
       leaflets?
       A. If it says in my notes that I did on more than one
occasion, I have to rely on my notes. If it does not I
have to rely on my notes.

  Q. So basically you do not have a recollection now?
       A. Without relying on my notes, no, I would not.

  Q. Right. When you were answering letters sent to the group,
did that also, when you were sending out replies, did that
also include copies of, or ever include copies of, the fact
sheet that is the subject of the libel action?
       A. I cannot recall. It may have. I cannot recall.

  Q. It may have done?
       A. It may have done.

  Q. Right. The notes that you made of the meetings and events
