Day 153 - 12 Jul 95 - Page 65

  Q. As a Manager, were you helping out with the -----
       A. Yes

  Q. But you never got any even minor burns or cuts?
       A. I may well have had the odd very minor burn or cut, but
       I cannot remember anything specifically.

  Q. But you would not have put them in the Accident Book?
       A. I might have done, if it had consequences for other
       people.

  Q. I might be wrong but I do not think there are any reports
in the Accident Book of you recording -----
       A. I cannot remember having an accident sufficient to
       enter in the Accident Book.

  Q. But you do remember getting minor burns and cuts, trivial
       ones?
       A. Very trivial, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you remember having them at Colchester?
       A. I may have caught -- I do not know.

  Q. No, it is not what may have happened; it is whether you
actually remember having a burn or a cut at Colchester.
       A. No, I do not actually remember a specific incident.

  Q. It is obvious that you may have had one and not remembered,
but do you remember having had one?
       A. No, sir.

MS. STEEL: It would be unlikely for you to never even get a
minor burn or cut if you were working on the stations,
       would it not?
       A. It would be unlikely in the course of two years never
to have had a very minor burn or a very minor scratch,
       yes.

  Q. A cut rather than a scratch -- you accept cut?
       A. Scratch or a cut. Well, I do not know about a cut --
I mean, I cannot honestly remember ever having -- being cut
in all my time at McDonald's -- a scratch, yes, but not
        -----

  Q. I do not know, if you nick your finger on the edge of a
       tray or something like that?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I wonder where we are going.

THE WITNESS: Not to actually draw blood, no. I cannot
       physically remember that.

MR. RAMPTON: There is no contest in this case that people who
work in kitchens or McDonald's kitchens, for that matter,
will from time to time suffer minor injuries. I really do
not know what it has to do with the case at all.

MS. STEEL: Just confirming that they do not always put them in
       the Accident Book.
