been so keen to deceive the plaintiffs about what my
involvement was and whether or not I had attended meetings
at 6 Endsleigh Street then I would hardly have put it in my
statement which was made just about 3 months after these
interrogatories were sworn. These are dated, they were
served 3rd November, but in actual fact we did not reply to
them until March 1939 and my statement which refers to me
attending meetings at Endsleigh Street was served in July
       1993.

MR. RAMPTON: Can we turn now to --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause there Mr. Rampton.

MR. RAMPTON: Sorry my Lord, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will have a 5 minute break.

                        (Short adjournment)

MR. RAMPTON: Yes Ms. Steel, could you please turn to page 70 in
the agent's notes bundle, which is 8th February 1990, Mr.
       Clare's notes?
       A. Which page did you say, sorry?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: 70.

MR. RAMPTON: 70 is where it starts, that is just to give you
       the date?
       A. Right, okay.

  Q. I would like you to look at the top of page 7 which has got
13 in the top right hand corner?
       A. 13?

  Q. 13 in the top right hand corner?
       A. Sorry. That is my page 73 for some reason.

  Q. I am sorry about that, but it starts "from looking at".
       Have you got that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "From looking at last week's minutes I managed to obtain
that London Greenpeace feel that after that year's
anti-McDonald's fayre their involvement will go down, not a
lot, but enough to put more into other topics. They will
still help with distribution et cetera, but they want to
try to get other groups to organise their own
       anti-McDonald's campaigns."

That is right, is it not, what he has written there?
That is a true account of the mood of the group at the
beginning of 1990 is it not?
       A. I would not say that anything that Alan Clare has
       written is right.

  Q. Well, where is that wrong then?
       A. Well, I mean, I do not remember the specific meeting
but, well I don't know what -- the anti-McDonald's campaign
had gone on to other groups a long time before. I mean, as
