Day 073 - 13 Jan 95 - Page 53

before 6th March that there will be any gap, possibly the
Friday, but it is unlikely there will be much of a gap
before Mr. Bowes. We have allowed three days, as your
Lordship will see, for Dr. Pattison.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let me just ask about that. Mr. Pattison of
Sun Valley is a group technical manager of that firm. He
also is professionally qualified as a veterinary surgeon.
How long do you think he will take?

MS. STEEL: I think it would be prudent to keep the 17th clear.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will pencil him in for that Friday as
well. I know there have been many references to him. As
Sun Valley, you may well see him as an important witness,
but I think you ought to be able to clear his evidence
completely in three days. Then we come to the week
beginning Monday 20th. In fact, I am receptive to you
having a substantial part of that week off for your
domestic purposes. You were able on the last occasion to
make some arrangement, was it, for one day or two days in
       the week?

MR. MORRIS: It was at least one day, I cannot remember.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You need not worry about the half term in
June because that coincides precisely with the short
vacation between. They are virtually two half terms. You
have seven weeks after Easter, the week off which is the
Whit week, and then normally eight weeks on until the end
       of term, so that coincides.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, the vacation is 27th May until 5th June
which includes the period that Mr. Morris wanted. As to
the April application which he makes, the vacation is 13th
to 24th. He asked for 8th to 23rd and the vacation is 13th
       to the 24th.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Apart from Monday 20th to Friday 24th
February, the clashes with school holidays, or rather with
       school term time -----

MR. RAMPTON: Five days in April.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: --- our term time, are Monday 10th, Tuesday
11th and Wednesday 12th April which are the last three days
of this legal term, but the first three days of your son's
school Easter holiday. The 29th May to 2nd June is what
lawyers call the Spring vacation and that is your boy's
Summer half term. The clash at the end of July, because
his last day at school is Friday 22nd July, is Monday 24th
July to Friday 28th July, the legal term, and Monday 31st
July which is the last day of the legal term. I am not
prepared at this stage to say anything about 10th to 12th
April or those days towards the end of July. We will have
to think about them when we get nearer to them.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, one possibility that occurs to
Mrs. Brinley-Codd is that if Mr. Morris were to have some,
but not all, of the week -- I say if your Lordship were not
