Day 128 - 24 May 95 - Page 42
notice?
A. I did not say -- it is an improvement notice, not a
prohibition notice.

Q. What was that for?
A. I cannot remember what it was for. Some of them are
for quite small things. I seem to remember that was a food
safety one. It depends more on the attitude of the local
authority, to be honest, whether they are served or not.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When you say it depends upon the attitude of
the local authority, do you mean that means one authority
will serve a notice, another will be content with an
assurance that something will be changed?
A. Exactly.

Q. It will not think the notice is necessary?
A. That is exactly right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you want to take a break now, to take
stock of where you are?

MS. STEEL: I do not know. The thing is I have questions which
are not very well-collated.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is your prognosis at the moment, doing
the best you can?

MS. STEEL: I do not think I will finish tonight. Apart from
that, I do not really know, to be honest.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How long would you like?

MS. STEEL: Now?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: I do not know how much -- it is quite difficult
having to look everything up and find the right place, and
things like that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I understand that but, if I may say so, you
clipped along quite steadily this morning, but you have had
some longer gaps this afternoon. I would rather you took a
rather longer break to see if you could get back into this
morning's stride, rather than just take five minutes. But
you must say. I cannot make the decision for you.

MS. STEEL: I can try to get a batch collated. The thing is
finding a reference between each question and then -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will break off until 3 o'clock. We will
resume then.

(Short Adjournment)

MS. STEEL: At the meetings of the Health and Safety Task Force,
was the death of Mark Hopkins discussed?
A. I am sure that it was, but going back to my point
earlier, the Task Force might not have met up to three
