Day 038 - 19 Oct 94 - Page 56

  MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: He looked at it outside. In fact, if you
want, he can have the transcript or you can put that to
him, if you want to do it that way.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. The only thing about the abstract is that the
abstract in some ways is superseded by Dr. Millstone's
evidence which is now our case.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You do it ----

MR. MORRIS: So it is a rough guide.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, does that mean, and I need to know, that
I can forget about what is pleaded in the abstract or not?

MS. STEEL: Some of the things on additives that are in the
abstract are not included in Dr. Millstone's statement.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I know. Are you going to call anyone else
who will add to the statement which Dr. Millstone gives in
       relation to adverse reactions?

  MR. MORRIS: No.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I thought that was the case. So, save and in
so far as Dr. Millstone covers it ----

MR. MORRIS: That is our evidence.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is your evidence. Let us start off with
Sunset Yellow then, because we have identified the two
references he has given there: No. 1, and I see what was in
the statement about that; No. 2, No. 9, and I see what was
in the statement about that and I have read the effective
part of that paper. Do you want to ask him a question as
to what, if any, other reactions ----

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): Are there any other relevant
reactions from Sunset Yellow apart from the ones we have
       already mentioned?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Apart from hypersensitive reactions and
       gastroenteritis?
       A. Only problems of hyperactivity in children because, as
I indicated in the document I prepared, quite frequently
parents of hyperactive children have reported to the
Hyperactive Children Support Group and others that Sunset
Yellow is one of the materials which appeared able to
trigger such reactions in their children.

MR. MORRIS: Apart from the hyperactivity are there any other --
       for example, skin rashes is down in the original pleadings;
I am not sure if you touch on that -- are there any other
of those kinds of reactions you have not specified so far?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is another way of asking, about
hypersensitive reactions in man which is a very general
