Day 267 - 21 Jun 96 - Page 64

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is page 87?
A. Thank you, sir.

Q. It is the note.

MS. STEEL: Mr. Bishop said in his notes that I arrived much
later at 8.34 pm, so I would not have been there at 7.30,
would I?
A. Is this the 1st March?

Q. Yes.

MR. RAMPTON: Well, it cannot be Mr. Bishop.

MS. STEEL: Sorry. Mr. Pocklington in his notes said I did not
arrive until 8.435 pm?
A. Sorry. I am trying to see where it says a time.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you give us a reference in the statement
you started off with?

MS. STEEL: Yes. That is the first statement. It would be 5A
on page 3 of the statement, bundle page 52, paragraph 12?
A. Yes, I see the paragraph.

Q. You say that you "attended the meeting at 5 Caledonian Road
at approximately 7.30 pm, a number of people were present
including Helen Steel and David who I now to be David
Morris"?
A. That is correct.

Q. So at that time you actually knew that my name was Helen
Steel, did you? This statement was made later?
A. Sometime later.

Q. Did you ever think I was called Webster?
A. I do not recall.

Q. Anyway, you say I was there when you turned up.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am not sure it does.

MR. RAMPTON: It does not say that. One needs to look at the
note, if I may respectfully suggest it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is fair enough of Miss Steel to look at
the statement, but although it says he attended at 7.30 and
then says a number of people present and then say the
meeting commenced. I had not assumed that meant they were
all there when he arrived or when the meeting commenced,
necessarily. The note merely says "people present" and you
are the first person noted on the list. What you are
suggesting is he said you were already there, but I am not
automatically reading the statement as reading that.

MS. STEEL: Right. For some reason it does not have a time in
the note. So where would you have got this time from in
the statement?
A. As the normal time for the meeting started.
