  MR. MORRIS: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You see, it may or may not be a problem.

MR. MORRIS: We will contact her and ask her to get --
obviously, she has disclosed the references she has
specifically mentioned in her statement. We can ask her to
try to bring anything along which would help that she
       wanted to refer to something.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We have to try to produce it in advance, if
you can; otherwise what we have -- you say, all right, you
can go through your evidence-in-chief but before
Mr. Rampton cross-examines we have to have a gap while they
are obtained, and then she has to come back after there has
been a sufficient time lapse for preparation. Do you know,
for instance, just what parts of the book or booklet that
she is going to refer to?

MS. STEEL: No, we have not had a chance to go through it in
       depth with her yet.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I have been through it in considerable
detail and with great care. As far as I can tell, her
witness statement is no more than a very superficial
summary of what is contained in this document. This
document, I therefore suspect, is going to provide the
foundation of her evidence in this court. It has 171
       references.

I am not asking and certainly not the day before the lady
arrives in the witness box as I will just refuse to
cross-examine, if your Lordship would permit me, if that
happens, but I do ask that any references in here to
support the large number of what might be regarded as
highly controversial statements which this document
contains are provided to us in good time, if she is seeking
to support those statements by reference to research of any
       kind.

MS. STEEL: I think Mr. Rampton is being really quite
hypocritical. Mr. Miles was supposed to be starting to
give his evidence today. There are some highly
controversial things in his statement: "Research has shown
that advertisements perform a valuable role of information
persuasion for both parents and children". We have not had
a single reference from Mr. Miles.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The same applies to that, if you say what is
the research, and he says what it is, you are perfectly
entitled to say: "Well, I need to see it before
       I cross-examine".

MS. STEEL: OK. We are asking for that now. I think
Mr. Rampton comes across as though we are deliberately
trying to make things obstructive and he is getting
       everything organised.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Whatever he does I am not treating it in that
