Day 199 - 11 Dec 95 - Page 10

friends here, and they sent me the statement that I
had made at the time back, obviously, I thought it was --
again if you are reading through anything in hindsight, you
sometimes have put down things which may be misleading or
untrue, and I did not want that in a case of law, if you
       like.

  Q. But the gaps represent things you thought better of when
you looked at it again; is that right?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You were there for a about year, I think, at West Ealing,
       were you not?
       A. Yes, I was.

  Q. Can you remember the name of the Manager?
       A. Robert -----

  Q. Robert O'Malley?
       A. Robert O'Malley.

  Q. Was it quite a busy store?
       A. Not really, in McDonald's terms, no. It was sort of
averagely busy. It was a medium store, I think, medium
       ranking.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I got the picture from Miss French that this
might be a typical run of the mill store, neither too quiet
       nor too rushed.

MR. RAMPTON: That is, I think, what Mr. Cranna is telling your
Lordship, it is the same thing. (To the witness): Rap
sessions, Mr. Cranna, you say you only went to one, I
think, when you were there; is that right?
       A. There was only one rap session while I was there.

  Q. Maybe you do not know the answer to this (and please say so
if you do not), the fact is, is it not, that it is
conducted by an Area Supervisor from a different area?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. You call them Area Managers ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- but as we understand you to mean Area Supervisors. The
names of crew who attend the rap sessions are not given to
       the Area Supervisor?
       A. No.

  Q. That is right, is it not?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. So if there was a fear of recrimination, if crew should
criticise Management, the theory at least is that the names
of the crew would never be known to the management; is that
       right?
       A. That is the theory but, if you like, the management
will know the sort of eight or 10 people or however many
people that have been on that rap session.
