MS. STEEL: Yes. Just on page 163 it says at No. 1, "There is
to be a picket of the McDonald's restaurant in Seven
Sisters Road on Saturday 4th August 1990", and then
something else. "Jane would seem to be the organising
person for this." Who was that picket organised by?
A. It was a Hackney in Islington animal rights picket. I
was involved in the Hackney and Islington animal rights
group and I would have made a comment that we were going to
picket there as part of the common events on the agenda. I
brought the leaflets along, which is why it says I am
organising it.

Q. Okay. Over the 2nd and 9th August there are various parts
about who was doing what for the fayre, including you and
Charlie had prepared a list of stalls to be invited to the
fayre. Can you just say what you recollect about the
organisation and who was involved?
A. Well, as you said, me and Charlie were preparing a list
of what stalls would be there at the fayre. Paul also was
quite involved, though he became more involved as the
summer went on as things got later. Alan Claire offered to
do the videos. He did not in the end. We did not hear
from him. But he did remind us on another occasion, I
think, that he was going to do the videos.

Q. Right. Do you remember whether myself or Mr. Morris
volunteered for anything?
A. No, I mean, I know neither of your did any of the
organisation for the fayre that year.

Q. Just one thing in the notes of Mr. Claire for 9th August,
that is page 169, he says: "There will be an antiMcDonald's
stall at the fayre." Do you have any comment to make about
that?
A. There would not have been an antiMcDonald's stall at
the fayre. There was a London Greenpeace stall which would
have been in the foyer, but there was no antiMcDonald's
stall. Perhaps there was A5 leaflets on the stall, I do
not know.

Q. Would somebody have said that at a meeting, that there
would be an antiMcDonald's stall at the fayre?
A. No, no. There would not be that much to put on it
really.

Q. Actually, there is one other thing about 9th August. On
page 180 Mr. Bishop says, "The meeting followed the normal
pattern with no disruptions from the agenda and was
chaired" -- and chaired is in quotes -- "by Jane." You
have any comment to make about that?
A. Well, I mean, I never chaired any meeting. I mean,
certainly not at 5 Caledonian Road which was just a normal
work meeting, or whatever you want to call it. No-one
every chaired any meetings, it was just maybe I was quite
impatient that day and maybe I was hurrying people along on
points on the agenda. Maybe, you know, we wanted to go to
the pub or -- I don't know, but--
