Day 095 - 02 Mar 95 - Page 59

Q. Turning right to the back to tab 5, please?
A. Yes.

Q. There is a statement there or there should be by David
Walker?
A. Yes, I see it.

Q. Behind David Walker's statement, Dr. Gomez Gonzalez, there
will be a number of documents including, I hope, a map that
looks like that?
A. I do not have a map, sorry.

Q. In tab 5 there is no map?
A. Yes.

Q. May I ask you this. Have you seen that map before?
A. No, not that particular map.

Q. Not this one?
A. It might be. I do not know if it is the same one.

Q. I was wondering whether or not you are able to confirm that
this is the Braslo map or reduction of it that you
mentioned when you were last here?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you think it is or it is not?
A. It is not the map that I have. The map I have seen is
almost the size of a wall, but it looks like it. This is
what it looks like, where it is surrounded the areas.

Q. You will see, whether it is true or not one does not know
but we see marked on that map some red blobs which are said
to represent the origins of McDonald's Brazilian meat. Do
you see those?
A. Yes, I do.

Q. You will see at the top of the map the hatching which shows
the rainforest area of Brazil?
A. Yes.

Q. I can tell you because I have measured it on the big map
that the distance between the most northerly of the red
blobs which is just southwest of Brazil, do you see that?
A. Yes.

Q. Is roughly speaking 800 kilometres from the most southerly
point of that jagged peninsular of rainforest which we see
in the middle map. Do you see that?
A. Yes, but I would say it is probably more.

Q. It may or may not be. The question I have is this. From
your knowledge of cattle do you think it likely or not that
cattle would be transported from that hatched rainforest
area to those red blob areas in Brazil?
A. No, it is not.

Q. Have you been to those parts of Brazil -- ignore the ones
in the south but the four in the middle of the country --
