Day 062 - 06 Dec 94 - Page 30

not use it within our side of McDonald's.

  Q. Yes, I know. I am just saying that ---
       A. I could imagine that -----

  Q. -- like recycled paper is often greyer?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Not so much these days, but -----
       A. I could imagine that you could use that for that
       purpose but -----

  Q. You are saying now that in Manchester the aim is to use it
for, I cannot remember what you said, was it injection
moulders -- what are they actually?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Extrusion ----
       A. Injection moulders is a type of plastic processing
where you inject your plastic into a mould which can have
any shape, such as a CD box, for instance.

MR. MORRIS: Are they actually producing the injection moulders
or they are using the injection moulders?
       A. No, the only thing that Lin Pac makes or the recycling
plant makes is a regranulate that can be, that is sold so
people can actually order with Lin Pac polystyrene ---

  Q. Regranulate?
       A. -- recycled polystyrene to any specification.

  Q. So Lin Pac are not intending to make items themselves; they
are just creating granulates which can then be sold to
companies that are going to make something out of it?
       A. At this point in time they have not succeeded in using
that recyclate regranulate themselves, that regranulate
themselves for a type of packaging for McDonald's. We have
been looking at trials but that has not been successful yet
to make a similar product as the top colour materials, a
sandwich, again but that has not been successful yet.

  Q. I am just trying to see what is made. So, Lin Pac is
       producing granulates?
       A. Yes, pellets, granules.

  Q. What is that? Does it come out ----
       A. They just produce a big box.

  Q. Chunks?
       A. No, no, pallets, with full pallets of polystyrene,
       beads, polystyrene.

  Q. Little granulates?
       A. Yes.

  Q. That comes out loose or in a great big box, solid -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It produces granulates. It does not really
matter how they come out or what they are put in, does it?
       They then go somewhere else.
