Day 185 - 07 Nov 95 - Page 60

  Q. If you just read your paragraph 21. (Pause) Both Cam and
Marianne Drummond, at those situations, they invited all
the crew members one by one to speak to them, did they?
       A. Marianne Drummond was there during the day. She left
in the early afternoon. So she spoke to the day staff
       people, that I know.

  Q. One by one?
       A. She sat in the crew room, and there were three or four
of us in there, and just talked to us openly, like in a
conversation. That is when I was in there talking; there
were three or four of us in the crew room.

  Q. Was this on 30th September 1993?
       A. I do not know what the date was. I do not remember
       when it was.

  Q. It was the Friday before the Saturday of the petition -- is
that correct -- of the application?
       A. I do not know when exactly it was. I do not remember
when exactly it was. I know it was around the union time,
but I do not know when exactly.

  Q. Right. But was it after some staff had expressed
reservations about signing the union cards?
       A. I do not believe so. I do not -- nobody said anything
to me about signing cards till the Friday night. So, if it
was that Friday, I did not know anything about it when
       I spoke to her.

  Q. So is this one of those staggering coincidences again, that
she just happened to be coming down right at the most
crucial time of the dispute over the union?
       A. It is a coincidence, because I do not believe Cam ever
knew anything about it; I do not believe it was them who
brought her down. I do not know exactly, but I think it is
       just a coincidence.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you help at all as to when it was that
she came? I was just looking up -- McDonald's Restaurants
Canada Limited has its offices in Toronto?
       A. Right. I do not -----

  Q. So it would not be very far in time?
       A. It is about an hour's drive.

  Q. Yes. But can you remember when it was in relation to the
weekend when the unionisation matter blew up, as it were?
       A. I think it was before, but I am not positive.

MR. MORRIS: Was it the same day that Cam invited people in one
       by one to speak?
       A. No. It was a couple of weeks before that, just at the
beginning of school; like, the first week after school
starts, he invites all the day staff that I know of into
       his office to make sure they are happy with their schedule;
and that is basically all he talks about, because they try
and fit everybody into the schedule they want and, if they
cannot, then they work it out to a compromise.
