from Perseco to McDonald's to the suppliers.

  Q. Do you happen to know -- we will have Mr. Van Erp giving
evidence later on in this case who is a Perseco person,
though how long he has been one, I do not know -- are you
able to tell us the drive that Perseco contributed where it
       originated or not?
       A. From the USA.

  Q. From the USA?
       A. The parent company of Perseco is the Harvey Corporation
in the USA, and most of the environmental initiatives would
have come from their parent company.

  Q. Is the McDonald's company in this country of sufficient
size to exert an influence on the environmental policies of
       its suppliers?
       A. Some suppliers, yes, not every supplier.

  Q. Not every supplier?
       A. Some suppliers.

  Q. Going back to (j) office stationery: Is your volume V of
the pink files to hand or did you put it back?
       A. I put it back. OK.

  Q. Could you turn, please, to tab 28C page number should turn
       out to be 510 AE?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Is this a document, it is a McDonald's memorandum from
Sally White to all staff dated 13th March 1990?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "Subject: Recycling and waste paper", is this a document
with which you are familiar or not?
       A. Yes, it is.

  Q. We can all read it for ourselves. It seems to say, does it
not, that from now on recycled paper will be in general use
in the office. Have I summarised it correctly?
       A. Yes.

  Q. It also says that there will be, I think it says,
collection points for discarded paper within the office?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. I think we find that in the third paragraph. My question
is this, where did the stimulus for this memorandum come
       from?
       A. This came from -- I was, in fact, in charge of this
department at that time. This is the Facilities
Department. The initiative came from the senior management
       at McDonald's.

  Q. What is the reason for that? I mean, is recycled office
stationery cheaper than ordinary stationery or not?
       A. No, it is not. It is generally a similar cost.

  Q. Why do this? This is an internal thing; there is no public
