Day 270 - 28 Jun 96 - Page 48
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Does it matter?

MR. RAMPTON: I hear what Ms. Steel says. Naturally, I am
sympathetic because I know the administrative difficulties
the Defendants have, but if Monday is his only day then I
am going to have to -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think you will have to be prepared to fill
it out, just that which you need. I would have thought all
you needed was Mr. Bishop's witness statements. You
probably do not need those actually, but bring Mr. Bishop's
witness statements; bring the copy of his notes for the
particular day and the copies of the notes which have since
been disclosed of that as well.

MS. STEEL: Yes, okay. I will probably have to bring more than
that, but can I just say ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The only basis upon which I am saying
Mr. Bishop should come back at all is that one point you
told me about.

MS. STEEL: Yes, I know, but it is just that if something else
comes in in re-examination and I have not got my notes to
deal with it -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not think it will. I cannot imagine
that Mr. Rampton has any re-examination. He just does not
feel able to make an admission in that respect, that is
all.

MR. RAMPTON: On the main questions of Mr. Bishop I have done my
re-examination, I cannot go back to that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It will all just depend upon what Mr. Bishop
says. If he says, "Yes, looking at that, it may well be
that they were the other leaflets you are batting for",
that will be the end of it. Even if he says "No, I still
think it was McDonald's leaflets", you will put the
argument to me.

MR. MORRIS: That will be the only question that will be
allowed, effectively.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have nothing else in mind, have you,
Mr. Rampton?

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord. I have finished with Mr. Bishop.
The Defendants have, I understand, got your Lordship's
indication that he should come back to answer a question,
or two questions maybe, on that issue and that issue alone.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you restrict your cross-examination to
that point, then Mr. Rampton is not going to ask any
questions of Mr. Bishop.

MS. STEEL: Yes. Can I just say something about
Mr. Pocklington?
