Day 248 - 13 May 96 - Page 30

Q. At an event of Greenpeace International?
A. Yes.

Q. Right. So when you gave evidence last week saying that you
printed the leaflets because you were concerned about the
fire-bombs, and also in those leaflets you also ----
A. That is not what I said. I said we printed the
leaflets in response to the press releases and material
yourselves, or organisations aligned with you, had put
out. We did it after you had done what you had done.
I had done nothing before you did what you did.

Q. In your leaflets that you put out you were trying to drive
a split between Greenpeace London and Greenpeace
International?
A. I did not have to do that.

Q. And ----
A. It is no relationship.

Q. We all aware of that. It does not mean to say that...
Well, it is ridiculous.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would like you to put directly what you are
getting at because I am completely lost at the moment.

MS. STEEL: OK. What I am trying to get at is that you are
trying to put out in your leaflets that London Greenpeace
is a disreputable organisation, it is nothing to do with
Greenpeace International, and one of the things that you
are criticising Greenpeace London for, or attacking
Greenpeace London for, is actually something that was
connected to a Greenpeace International event and not a
Greenpeace London event?
A. No, that is not the context at all in which I did what
I did or made the decisions I made. That is a long, long
way from what I have said now about four times in the last
several days.

Q. And that effectively your strategy is to criticise us for
anything and everything whether or not it is true?
A. Well, no, that is not so.

Q. Are you actually aware that Greenpeace London was the
original Greenpeace group in Europe?
A. I am not aware of that. I am only aware of their
correspondence to us disavowing any links with whatsoever
with Greenpeace London. That is the only link I know of,
and it is a disavowing one.

Q. There is a joint statement signed by both groups saying
that there is no connection, so we are not trying to
pretend there is a connection. But when you put out your
leaflets and press releases you did not contact London
Greenpeace to find out who was the original group did you?
A. No, well, we did not.

Q. Or to hear our side of the story?
A. As an unincorporated entity it was very difficult to
