Day 181 - 01 Nov 95 - Page 64
Mr. Jenssen. If there is anything which you really think
may be important, get it in writing, get it to
Mrs. Brinley-Codd as soon as you can, and if there is a
problem about it, I will look at it in the morning.

MR. MORRIS: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: My comment about press conferences is
directed at all parties in this case. It is not just a
question of how much information can we get out which
either helps McDonald's or supports your view so that it is
in the public arena; it is what evidence will really help
me to reach a decision in this case.

MR. MORRIS: I agree. Can I just point out that I am trying to
be helpful; it is Mr. Rampton who brought up this whole
issue about Mr. Jenssen.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It was me actually because I said I did not
see how he could go into Friday.

MR. MORRIS: The week after, we have the Plaintiffs' Canada
witnesses. Mr. Logan is vacated and I am trying to arrange
to go and see him. I am hoping to have the documents as
soon as humanly possible so I can have time to copy them
and read them before I go and see Mr. Logan. As the
Plaintiffs have indicated they are almost ready, I am
hoping that is going to be by the end of this week.

Then the following week we have our French witnesses.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can we pause before you go on there, because
you made a suggestion on last Friday morning about coming
back to the argument on nutrition meaning ---

MR. RAMPTON: That is what I was going to raise.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- on either Thursday or Friday. That
appeals to me. I would suggest the Thursday, we should be
able to finish it in a day, but I would suggest the
Thursday. Is there any difficulty about that? What I have
in mind is if I hear that which Ms. Steel and you wish to
say about nutrition meaning on the Thursday, query, whether
it will take the whole day, but it certainly should not
take more, and you have the Friday to think about Bath
documentation and anything further you wish to think about
your French witnesses, if you decided to call your French
witnesses, rather than read their Civil Evidence Act
statements

MR. MORRIS: Yes, in general we were not really in favour of
using one of those two days, but if it has to be one of
those two days, could we make it the Friday, partly because
-- believe it or not -- travelling is cheaper on a train
on a Thursday.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, that is because you do not have the
pre-weekend normal fares.

MR. MORRIS: It will gave Helen time to prepare for the Friday
