Day 159 - 20 Jul 95 - Page 30

MS. STEEL: The problem is right as she was saying that the tape
went and I had to turn it over and I then lost everything
       that she said.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Listen, if you come to a position where --
I spoke about this the other day -- you have to turn your
tape over, do not hesitate to say so and we will stop and
you can do it. You do not have to rush it so that you miss
something or you do it wrong and it does not play, or
anything like that. Obviously, you have to keep your eye
on it, but do not hesitate to mention if you need to do
       something with your tape.

MS. STEEL: I am just saying that I am now in a position where
I am not sure what was said.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: All right. Pick it up and say when you are
       ready to go on.

MS. STEEL: The thing is I cannot understand what it says on the
       CaseView.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Take it again. (To the witness): You first
       went there on a Thursday?
       A. On a Thursday, yes.

  Q. Was that the day you received some training from Paul
       Preston or some later date?
       A. No, it was on the Sunday meeting we received some
training and our uniform, and we did watch one video, and
then on the Monday when I started in the afternoon he
trained me on the french fries.

  Q. So the Monday was the first day you actually did anything?
       A. That is correct, yes.

MR. RAMPTON: From your observations of what went on at Seven
Sisters during 20 years, Mrs. Farrer, are you able to tell
us whether or not other people joining McDonald's for the
first time have been trained or not?
       A. Yes, everybody gets trained.

  Q. What about accidents, Mrs. Farrer? Have you ever suffered
       a serious accident at McDonald's?
       A. I had a broken wrist. I broke my wrist.

  Q. How did that happen?
       A. Well, a customer -- I -- opened her drink and was
throwing the ice on the floor. Consequently, I went to
pick up the ice I saw on the floor, but I did not see this
piece of ice that was here already. Consequently,
I slipped and as I went down my hand went down.

  Q. Was it sore? Did it hurt?
       A. Yes, you know, it did for a minute, like, and I went to
Tony, the Manager and I said -----

  Q. Was that Tony Giardina?
       A. Yes.
