cent)".
A. I think the average was 100 per cent. I think ours was
closer to 200 per cent.

Q. I will carry on reading: "This problem continually
reoccurred. Problems with ordering were never resolved,
merely covered up. Transferring stock from other stores
(often illegally) and using out of date produce".
A. When I say "often illegally", I mean I am not sure
whether they were allowed to transfer dry stock but, you
know, there used to be the occasion when taxis would turn
up with 10 boxes of chips in them and a box of regular
meat, you know, and they were not freezer things, and they
would come all the way from Bristol -- could have taken
half an hour, an hour, to get there. If you have been
stuck in traffic, it might be longer.

That was where we most -- that is where we got most of our
-- when we ran out of stock, we normally rang Bristol --
Horsefair it was called, the McDonald's store -- and we
used to get produce from them.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Boxes of chips?
A. Boxes of chips, boxes of nuggets, boxes of meat,
whatever we had run out of. Regular meat was a very rare
thing to run out of, but I saw it in the taxi once, but
chicken nuggets and chicken patties you ran out of.
Regular meat, you know, you could keep so much of it. It
would be very difficult to run out of it, but we did.

MR. MORRIS: Continuing to read: "The problem with the grills
was common knowledge to the management, but no attempt was
made to resolve it, I can only assume due to expense".

Question 10: "If your immediate boss did not attempt to
resolve matters to your satisfaction, what other course of
action was available to you?" Answer: "I saw no other
cause of action available to me as more senior Managers
were fully aware of these problems in the store. These
problems are certainly not unique to the Bath store."

Question 11, which we do not seem to have -- I have not got
it in this file.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It reads: "What steps did you make to take
the matters you have raised further with the management of
McDonald's?"

MR. MORRIS: Yes, I have actually found them now. The answer:
"Please refer to question 10".

12: "Before leaving, what efforts did you make to secure
alternative work with another employer?" Answer: "I did
not look for alternative employment as I hoped the
situation would improve. However, it just seemed to keep
deteriorating".

13: "If you did not have any prospects of immediate
employment elsewhere at the time you left this job, please
explain why you did not continue in the job until you had a
