Day 185 - 07 Nov 95 - Page 61

  Q. Marianne Drummond, did she discuss the "pal programme"
       during those conversations you had?
       A. I do not remember if it came up or not.

  Q. Do you remember her discussing -- did she discuss the
termination and possible reinstatement of an employee who
had been terminated in the Spring?
       A. Not that I remember, no.

  Q. What did you talk about then?
       A. All she asked is if we are happy with our job, if we
are happy with what is going on at McDonald's with our
benefits, all that type of stuff; are we happy with
everything that is there; like, do we have any problems
with McDonald's; do we have any problem with management or
anything like that. It was not a formal meeting, because
she met with other people in the lobby with a couple of
other day staff, when the shift was over. Like, it was not
       one-on-one.

  Q. You said you never had that kind of discussion before or
       since with Marianne Drummond?
       A. Not me myself, no.

MR. MORRIS: Not you yourself. Is it appropriate to ask if the
Plaintiffs know who Marianne Drummond actually is?

MR. RAMPTON: No, certainly it is not. If the Defendants want
to make a case about Marianne Drummond, it is up to them to
do so. The suggestion I -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You can ask. The answer is they are not
obliged to answer. Is there a witness coming up who -----

MR. MORRIS: Sarah Inglis says "a McDonald's Head Office
       personnel lady".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are you happy with that?

MR. MORRIS: I suppose so, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you are, I would just wait and see if it
is challenged. As I understand it, when Mr. Ballantyne --
is Hanover another town like Orangeville somewhere in
       Ontario?
       A. It is about an hour and a half north west of
       Orangeville.

  Q. As far as you are aware, did he give up his franchise
       there?
       A. The way I understand, he sold his and bought ours
       and ......

  Q. But, as far as you were aware, he just had the franchise of
       one store?
       A. Right. He built that one in Hanover when it first
       opened, he started.

  Q. You knew everyone who was working for him in Orangeville?
