Day 208 - 24 Jan 96 - Page 50
A. Yes, if I had, say, a five pence pay rise, it would
have been put on from the date when I should have had the
pay rise, PR, yes.

Q. Did you have any problem in seeing that the rise which you
got late was paid from the date to which it was backdated?
A. No.

Q. Thank you, Mr. Perret. Remain there, please.

Cross-examined by the Defendants

MR. MORRIS: What is your wage at the moment?
A. I am on a £4.95 an hour at the moment.

Q. 4.95 an hour. The Breakfast Manager position is a
non-salaried position, is it not?
A. Yes.

Q. Also there had not been a Breakfast Manager before you?
A. Not in the Bath store, no.

Q. Right. It is a special position which was created for you
because of the particular hours you wanted to work and the
job you wanted to do?
A. Partly, but also when I first started at McDonald's we
never did breakfast, so there was no cause for a Manager to
do breakfasts. You actually -- when I first started at
McDonald's, we never actually opened until 10 o'clock in
the morning. As I say, I cannot remember exactly what date
we started cooking breakfast, but it was probably a few
months before I was made Breakfast Manager.

Q. Right. You say you worked those shifts that you have
identified in paragraph 3 with a slight change in terms of
an extra half an hour, I think, now on Sundays or
something, but, anyway, those basic shift patterns and that
has been the same, has it, since August 1990?
A. That has, yes, since I became Breakfast Manager, yes.

Q. So you have, basically, a kind of guaranteed hours and
shift pattern?
A. Set hours, yes.

Q. That suits you?
A. Yes, yes, it does.

Q. I could add them up, but what is the total hours you are
working?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We can work it out, provided we know what
sort of break, Mr. Perret.
A. I take a 45 minute break every day.

Q. A 45 minute break?
A. Give or take the odd minute, but yes.

Q. You work -- you work ---
A. I work full shifts.
