Day 295 - 06 Nov 96 - Page 36
ceiling will fall down on me at this moment, but it is not
a real risk, because it is just never going to happen. We
do not have to put policies or systems into place. But
with anybody, anywhere, eating a burger, there is a risk, a
serious risk, that requires policies and procedures to be
put into place to try to reduce or eliminate that.
Therefore, we say that is a recognition that this is an
issue that has to be taken seriously.

After all -- something which I think is a theme throughout
this whole case, we would say -- after all, we are
defending the right to make criticisms, and McDonald's
should welcome public concern and criticisms which are
geared to addressing real concerns. I think the court
should do so as well. That is all I have to say on this.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you. Where do we go next, then?

MS. STEEL: I should be starting on advertising tomorrow
morning.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Sorry?

MS. STEEL: I should be starting on advertising.

MR JUSTICE BELL: Are you saying you would like to start in the
morning rather than now?

MS. STEEL: Definitely, yes, please.

MR JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Very well. 10.30.
