Day 205 - 17 Jan 96 - Page 40
application for a copy of that video. Our best information
is that it was broadcast on November 30th by the Oakbrook
satellite channel from Oakbrook, Illinois, Headquarters of
McDonald's, to the local stores and others. I do not know
exactly who received their internal video channel. It is a
substantially long video of something like a couple of
hours. I do not know exactly. Ed Rensi and two other
executives speak on the film, amongst other things. So,
that is basically it really.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you want to respond to that now or -----

MR. RAMPTON: Again, my first reaction on reading this is that
it is open to doubt whether any of this is of any relevance
to any of the issues in the case, but that is a first
reaction from reading the underlined bits. The rest does
not seem to have an awful lot to do with McDonald's. But I
would like to make enquiries in any event. I certainly
cannot see anything in the first column that is of
conceivable relevance.

MS. STEEL: There is, for example, the thing under "subfiles"
about increasing employee satisfaction to 72 per cent which
might be thought to be relevant.

MR. MORRIS: It is all relevant. The bits that are not relevant
I did not underline.

MR. RAMPTON: We can argue about that -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There is an argument about whether the bits
underlined are relevant to any issue in the case.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, there certainly is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You had better come back on Monday morning
with that. Presumably, any video might or might not be
disclosable.

MR. RAMPTON: Might, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But you would want to make enquiries about it
first.

MR. RAMPTON: I certainly would, I would like to see it first
too. I may not be able to come back on Monday morning
about that, since the video tape, so far as one can tell
from this article, is an American document. We would have
to get it, first of all, transcribed into English format
and then flown over here. As the Defendants probably do
not appreciate, my Lord, it is me and Mrs. Brinley-Codd
that make the decisions as to relevance initially and not
the clients -- and Mr. Atkinson.

MR. MORRIS: Shall I just, we are leaving over Dr. Millstone and
Corry main fry stations until Monday, are we? I am
obviously seeking leave.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What, as I understand Mr. Rampton is, in
effect, saying, that Mr. Alimi's further
