MS. STEEL: Sometimes when the witnesses say: "I am not aware"
they say it in the tone of voice which implies that no,
that is not the case, and that is why I was asking the
question to clarify.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, that was not the tone of voice I heard.
He is simply saying he was not aware.

THE WITNESS: Most likely because I was not responsible at that
time.

MS. STEEL (To the witness): When Mr. Rampton was asking you
questions, you said that Good Food, Nutrition & McDonald's
was available in-store and then he asked you whether you
might be mistaken about that. Do you remember that?
A. I do.

Q. Would you accept that the evidence, the written evidence,
contained within documents indicates that it was not, in
fact, available in stores?
A. Are we talking about 1984?

Q. The pamphlet Good Food, Nutrition & McDonald's, I think it
was published on three occasions?
A. Well, yes.

Q. 1984 and 1985?
A. You are referring to the first occasion, 1984?

Q. I am referring to that specific pamphlet.
A. The 1984 document, I now accept, was not available in
the restaurants.

Q. Right, and the 1985 one?
A. February 1985, there was a document in the restaurants
which invited people to request further information.

Q. Right, that was the Nutrition Guide, I think?
A. I cannot remember what exactly it was called. There
are so many documents in that file, but it was Nutritional
Information - a brief outline.

Q. A two-page leaflet.
A. A two-page leaflet.

Q. Right. That was the one that was available in the stores?
A. That was available in-store.

Q. The 1985 edition of Good Food, Nutrition & McDonald's which
was the long pamphlet, you would accept that was not
available in the stores?
A. I am not sure. It is difficult for me to answer a lot
of these questions pre-1992 because I had no responsibility
for them, so I am just trying to recollect from my own
memory what I saw.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, so as to save time, because we are going
around and round the houses this afternoon, it will be our
intention to try to get evidence that gives your Lordship a
