Day 245 - 07 May 96 - Page 33

       A. Do I?

  Q. Yes?
       A. Do I? My own observations.

  Q. Mr. Preston, you cannot refer us to one single act which
would show that we had a leading role in a consistent
campaign against McDonald's including prior to the service
       of writs?
       A. I refer to your document of Aims and Objectives of
       London Greenpeace ----

  Q. -- We are talking about the two individuals, myself and
       Mr. Morris?
       A. Can I finish my sentence? I refer to the document of
your own called Aims and Objectives of London Greenpeace
where you yourselves refer to yourselves not as individuals
but as a group doing anything and everything together as a
       unit.

The objective of smashing McDonald's is primary. The
support of someone like Animal Liberation Front, who will
break the law, are listed in there as someone you actively
support. The statement was made in that Aims and
Objectives document. About the time we had a fire bombing
incident in one of our restaurants in Milton Keynes where
I had the lives of employees, customers, men, women and
children put at risk. I took the instance ----

  Q. Mr. Preston, we are not interested in propaganda from you.
We are interested in an answer to the question.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not think he need answer it because he
says that the evidence is there in the statements in effect
and, at the end of the day, I am going to have to consider
all the evidence which has been given and then I will be
able to see whether that is accurate or not.

MS. STEEL: (To the witness): The point is that you have no
evidence about myself and Mr. Morris which you can give in
this witness box now to say that we had leading roles in
       the consistent campaign against McDonald's?
       A. I have your Aims and Objectives document.

  Q. I am not talking about the group, I am talking about ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Leave it there because it is an argument as
to what evidence is available and argument between you and
the witness about whether there is enough or not is not
going to help me on any issue.

If, at the end of the day, it turns out there was not
sufficient evidence, you can make your point. If it turns
out that there was sufficient evidence, then I will hear
what you want to say about it.

MS. STEEL: (To the witness): So your position is, your only
evidence is that of what the group has put out as opposed
       to us as individuals?
       A. No, I did not say that. I said that was part of it. It
