Day 275 - 08 Jul 96 - Page 38
August, where there is reference to Paul Gravett doing a
press release, that would be up to him to get on with as he
was the person running the campaign. That was not unusual
in terms of if somebody was doing a particular campaign,
they would write a press release. It did not have to be
agreed by everybody, they just got on and did whatever they
felt was important to do.

The notes of Mr. Claire of 9th August I was not
actually at this meeting, but if I just said that where Mr.
Claire says that there would be an anti-McDonald's stall at
the fayre, at none of the meetings I have ever attended has
anyone every said that there would be an anti-McDonald's
store at the fayre. Nor at the one fayre that I have
attended has there been an anti-McDonald's store.

On page 180, 9th August 1990. Notes from Mr. Bishop.

MR. MORRIS: Sorry, what date are we looking at?
A. 9th August. It just occurred to me, actually, that
where he refers to the leading members of the group that is
actually comment, and so I do not know that it is opinion
rather than -- sorry, so I do not know that it can be taken
as evidence in any way, but certainly if there is any
thought of it being taken as evidence there were no leading
members of the group, there was no hierarchy, there was no
one in charge.

Moving on to the notes of Frances Tiller for 23rd
August 1990. Just to say that as regards the creche
organisation, in paragraph 5, I do remember Jan --
obviously, her name is Frances Tiller but we knew her as
Jan -- saying that he would organise the creche. I also
remember Alan Clare saying that he would organise the
individuals for videos for the fayre and generally sounding
quite enthusiastic about it. I remember it being brought
up on a number of occasions about who was doing what at the
fayre, and him confirming that he was going to do the
videos.

The other thing on this page, which is not a
particularly important point but it is just an example of
how the private investigators get things a bit wrong, that
Paul Gravett was not called "gravelly path", he was called
"gravel pit".

Q. He was called?
A. "Gravel pit". It was not my idea, but that is what his
name was anyway.

The next one I want to refer to, I think, is page 203,
the notes of Mr. Bishop of 20th September 1990 and on page
2 of those notes, which is page 203, he says that I was
organising the printing of leaflets for the Greenpeace
fayre. That is incorrect. I was organising the printing
of leaflets for the IMF picket, the picket of the World
Bank, and as far as I can recall Andrew Clarke was doing
the printing of leaflets for the fayre.

In the second paragraph on that page, there is
