Q. 1985 that one.
3 A. "Styrene, a widespread mutagen: Conclusions from the
result of testing. That is in the environmental mutagens
4 and carcinogens 1982." So the point there is that the
Polystyrene Packaging Council in acknowledging the
5 migration of food, migration of styrene from the package
into the food contained, dismisses the health concerns by
6 reference to certain studies, and Mr. Baggett raises
certain issues with reference to other studies.
7
Q. Basically, to draw this to a close, you were concerned
8 that of the health implications, as well as other
implications in terms of waste, production of polystyrene
9 foam at the time when you were campaigning for the
elimination of polystyrene foam by McDonald's, yes?
10 A. Yes.
11 Q. Were you aware of any -- did you address those issues in
your publicity at all?
12 A. We raised the issue in our news journal.
13 Q. Right.
A. And we could make reference to it, if necessary.
14
Q. No, it is OK. We are getting close to -- I can probably
15 just finish off there, the use of polystyrene foam.
16 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Finish the use section. Then disposal is
next.
17
MR. MORRIS: Yes. As regards disposal versus reusables, I do
18 not know, I think we will leave it at that.
19 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Pause there. If there is anything more,
I am not suggesting there is or should be, we can come
20 back to it at 2 o'clock.
