Day 192 - 27 Nov 95 - Page 50

Q. Are all the crew informed about crew meetings?
A. They usually post it up in the McNews, where they put
little posters around the store telling you when it is.

Q. Had you seen any posters around the store before that
weekend?
A. Pardon me?

Q. Had you seen any posters around the store?
A. No, but it could have been in McNews because I remember
reading it after the fact, remember going back to the
McNews and reading it that it was in there, but I do not
think it was arranged two weeks before.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are you saying it was in the McNews before,
at a date before the 5th October?
A. Yes.

Q. Can you remember how long before?
A. I think it was probably a week because I believe that
there is a publication weekly.

Q. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: I am going to ask you about a few things from Miss
Iurillo's transcripts of evidence. She said that her shift
had never been cut, length of her shift had never been cut
down. Do you remember you were talking before about people
having eight hour shifts, then six and a half, then four
and a half, then three and a half -- I think you said that
three and a half was -- was that the most usual, the three
and a half?
A. Yes, three and a half.

Q. Three and a half became the standard. She said her shift
had never been cut down. Did people actually -- did that
change in shift pattern only apply to new people, or did it
apply to people that were already existing at the store?
A. No, it applied to everyone.

Q. Right.
A. Like, the day staff were the most hard hit because they
did eight hours during the week, whereas like someone like
me would just do the eight hours on the weekends, right,
Saturdays and Sundays.

Q. You did some four and a half hour shifts, did you not?
A. Yes, you usually do a four and a half hour when you
close on a Saturday.

Q. I see. She said something about, she asked about wages --
this was on page 41 of day 184 -- and she was saying about
when you were 15, 16 or 17 you just want the money so you
can go to the movies and go out and, you know, have a good
time; you are not looking for extra benefits. Is that your
understanding of people's needs who work at the store?
A. No, especially not in Ontario, no, because of the
recession there, there are not a lot of high paying jobs
and, like, the reason why I went out and I worked was, yes,
