       A. Yes. "8: A representative of the kitchen closers will
be participating in a representation meeting, a meeting of
representatives, which will be held every other month", and
then signed for McDonald's Norway, Martin Graham, and for
the kitchen closers, Richard Y Asante.

MR. MORRIS: The increase in wages -- it is an obvious question
-- that 40 per cent extra, was that in existence for
       closers before this dispute?
       A. No.

  Q. What about paid breaks?
       A. No.

  Q. OK. That is that. If we move on from that situation: You
said that you did not know who was in the union at that
time, is that correct, or something like that?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: No.

MR. MORRIS: You did not know that they were -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: He accepted that Mr. Holm may not have known
who was a union member and who was not, but -- my note --
"It was probably true he did not know who were union
members, but he probably knew many of them were members,
but that they were probably afraid of letting anyone
know". That was the effect of it.

MR. MORRIS: What was the situation for other union members at
the store around this time or were there other union
       members at this store?
       A. Well, after the picket line, when I got this leaflet,
when it said that there will be a strike on, I set about to
find out what the circumstances were, because I had not
heard anything about this. The reason for that was that
the HRAF had not registered me as working at McDonald's.
So, as it happened, I was not informed of any of this which
was happening, kind of, behind the scenes. There was no
talk about this in the restaurant.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: This is the closers?
       A. Yes, the closers, and so I went to the HRAF and they
were delighted to have another member at McDonald's, and
there had been single, individual members in my store as
well but who had not come forward or who had not been open
about their engagement in the union.

MR. MORRIS: So, while you were working there, there were other
       union members?
       A. Yes.

  Q. But you did not know who they were?
       A. No, we never talked about that.

  Q. Can you explain what your feeling -----

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord -- Mr. Morris, please -- we have had one
piece of hearsay which is what the HRAF told this gentleman
about the number of members; what we cannot have now, I did
