  Q. "Cash depositing, running shifts, fire log), despite recent
half a million pound refurbished high volume restaurant".
       Is that half a million?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "(4) Reduced clothing allowance. (5) pay reviews
continually not followed up on time and inappropriately
carried out. (6) Inadequate time off between shifts.
       (7) Inadequate break length, if any at all. (8) No reward

I am very disappointed by the mistreatment and the
malpractice I have occurred and I am saddened at the
drastic decisions I have had to take in spite of my five
years and seven months continual service to McDonald's
Restaurants Limited. Yours faithfully, Daniel Olive."

Do you stand by that letter now?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Since you left, did you carry on with your studies?
       A. I failed that year at university and I have repeated
that year this year without working, and I have now passed
       it successfully.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have?
       A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What are you studying?
       A. Physics.

MR. MORRIS: Why did you go into this kind of detail in your
       resignation letter?
       A. Well, really, because obviously the Store Manager
would read it. A few Floor Managers had left quite
recently and then, of course, I had left and I thought that
the Store Manager would read it and then his Area
Supervisor, so hopefully they could do something about
these areas I had picked up on and possibly other Floor
Managers would not leave because of the same sort of
pressures. So, in the hope that something would be done,
       really.

  Q. We have heard that in a letter from the Plaintiff's
solicitors on November 8th, 1995, they said that it was
standard practice not to send a copy of such a letter to
the Human Resources Department or to anyone in the Regional
Office. What was your understanding about complaints
       procedures and where this -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am sorry. The position, in my mind, with
Mr. Olive, whatever has happened with anyone else before,
