       dust from Nigeria".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is the purpose of doing that?

MR. RAMPTON: It was a mistake. They muddled up two
consignments. He said, "Well, no, I do not want this, it
is nothing to do with me", and sent it away. It is only
recently that the mistake was discovered. So he has not
yet finished going through the highlighted transcript.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Does it follow that the other line of enquiry
you mentioned on 20th December was that although Mr. Cesca
could not speak to Dr. Gomez Gonzalez about it, he could
       read the transcript?

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. All that is covered by that accident. It
also, as it happens, covers the United States' aspect of
the documents which Dr. Gomez Gonzalez was referring to or
seemed to be referring to, which was whether earlier
specifications had contained anything about humane
slaughter. I suspect your Lordship will remember that.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. RAMPTON: That means that has all got delayed by that
accident which was no fault of McDonald's.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When are we going to know about that?

MR. RAMPTON: I think very soon. They got them on Friday and
they have been told that there is a certain urgency
about it; it has to be done well before Dr. Gomez Gonzalez
comes back. So I hope it will be done.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Will we have an answer before the end
of next week, because the week after that is the
       preparation week?

MR. RAMPTON: If your Lordship says we ought to have we will do
everything within our power to ensure we do have.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think we should because that is a loose end
       from 20th December.

MR. RAMPTON: It does not do any harm, if I may say this -- in
some sense it is against my American clients -- if
occasionally your Lordship says provided you give us enough
time, "I think it ought to be done before such and such".
So if your Lordship says it is desirable it should be done
before the end of next week, then we will make as sure as
we can that it is. It helps.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It seems to me it would be desirable that
whatever information has come to light should be conveyed
to the Defendants on or before Wednesday, 15th February,
unless you want to say anything about that, Mr. Morris.

MR. RAMPTON: If there is a difficulty ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You can raise it again, but that is the
