Day 267 - 21 Jun 96 - Page 32

       A. No, it was fruitless because nothing special was
       mentioned about McDonald's.

  Q. At the end of that page you say, "Tonight's meeting had no
       antiMcDonald's campaign involvement".
       A. That is right.

  Q. "Save for a lady phoning from America and letters".
       A. That is right.

  Q. OK. If we go over to the 15th February, 1990, page 14 of
       your notes.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Page 80.
       A. Thank you.

MS. STEEL: This is the meeting at 5 Caledonian Road and you
note that "Helen, Jane, John from the last meeting, Andrew
and a new face (bloke) by the name of John; he is LG
       treasurer".
       A. I believe it says "last". It has a hole punched
       there.

  MS. STEEL: OK.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You believe it says?
       A. If it says "last" in the book, I could read it as
       "first" there.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would have read it as "first", especially
seeing the asterisked note. But there we are.
       A. I cannot make it out.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It does not matter.

MS. STEEL: It is not particularly important whether it is
"last". It might be "first" meeting.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is, yes.

  MS. STEEL: Yes, sorry.

MR. MORRIS: Something about "first" or "last".

MS. STEEL: Yes. Then you have got a note that John is recorded
as Stephen at the first meeting. "Tonight he was called
John". He was not actually called John at that meeting
either, was he? He was called Jonathan.
       A. John; Jonathan, yes.

  Q. When you have put that "John is the LG treasurer", that
would be what he would have said rather than that he was in
charge of all the financial goings-on, would it not?
       A. I do not recall. It may have been said or implied by
       somebody.

  Q. When you said he was the treasurer you assumed that he was
in charge of all the financial goings-on?
       A. I do not recall. I have made that note.
