4 A. I did, in geography.

6 Q. In geography. Then did you go straight from your degree to

8 A. After a brief sojourn in the Greek islands, yes.

10 Q. In what capacity did you first join McDonald's?
11 A. I was a Trainee Manager.

13 Q. Following that did you have any practical experience of the
14 McDonald's operation on what I might describe as "the
15 ground"?
16 A. Yes, I was a Second Assistant Manager, First Assistant
17 Manager and Restaurant Manager in the Birmingham area.

19 Q. How long were you a restaurant manager in Birmingham?
20 A. Approximately four years.

22 Q. Were those four years all in the same restaurant or were
23 they different?
24 A. I worked in Tamworth restaurant and a restaurant in the
25 City Centre of Birmingham. Most of the time I was in the
26 City Centre of Birmingham.

28 Q. For how long roughly in the City Centre of Birmingham?
29 A. Three years.

32 A. Very busy.

38 restaurant in 1987ish?
39 A. I was promoted to Area Supervisor and supervised
40 restaurants in Telford, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton and
41 Stafford.

44 A. Yes.

46 Q. How long did you do that for?
47 A. Approximately 18 months.

50 A. I was promoted to a position of Senior Supervisor,
51 later termed Operations Manager, in East Anglia.

53 Q. Was it the job that changed or just the title?
54 A. The job changed. I had responsibility for round about
55 20 restaurants.

57 Q. About 20 restaurants over the whole of East Anglia?
58 A. Over the whole of East Anglia and had Area Supervisors
59 reporting to me.
