Day 192 - 27 Nov 95 - Page 11
why, but he liked me. But when I noticed what he was doing
to the other employees, I was thinking, well, why the hell
not me?

"He fired a woman because she called a manager a bitch.
She didn't call her a bitch, actually, I mean, she was
friends with the manager and she said: 'Tone it down people
are kind of thinking that you're getting a little bit
bitchy. I'd watch your ass around here.' The manager put
on Niagara Falls - I mean, she started crying - went and
told Cam, and this employee was fired in the next three or
four days - an employee that had been there for six years.
I mean, that's not a just cause.

"When Cam came in, the day staff were getting
six-and-a-half to eight-hour days, five days a week. And
he came in and slashed them down to about four-and-a-half.
You still get a break for that. And then he slashed them
down to three-and-a-half, which you don't get a break for.
That's disgusting. I mean, they need that money. Pay
rates are anything from minimum wage to, I guess, up to 12
bucks for a handful of people who've been there since the
restaurant opened.

"There were a lot of people talking about problems at
work. Even this one girl" -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: (To the witness): You have the article in
front of you there, have you?

MR. MORRIS: We are on page 20.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It should be immediately after the statement
which Mr. Morris has just read.
A. It was not, actually; there was a bunch of papers
between it. But I have found it now.

MR. MORRIS: Have you got page 20?
A. Yes, but there are pages between my statement and my
article I did not know about.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Perhaps someone had better check that when we
have a five-minute break. Bottom right of page 20. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Yes, the last paragraph on page 20. I will start
that paragraph again:

"There were a lot of people talking about problems at
work. Even this one girl - who is a major anti-union
supporter now - was a total union supporter in the
beginning."

Do you know who you are referring to there?
A. Sabina Iurilla.

Q. "I remember her telling me that she had two jobs because Cam
wouldn't give her enough hours. So she had to take another
job at Northern Reflections at the mall. And when Cam
found out, he threatened her. She told me he said, 'I want
to either see your resignation to Northern Reflections or
