Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 32
A. Sorry. And you felt other people should be doing like
things in their own areas, and this is why the poll tax
appealed to you so much, because it was very much a local
grass roots thing. I am not saying that you -- obviously
your were not totally opposed to other sorts of campaigns
because you initiated the Borders campaign. I think that
was after you went to Poland because you had east European
friends or something or connections. So you did that, but
you were against -- I remember you saying things at the
time that you did not think it was London Greenpeace's role
to be doing worldwide things because we were a London
group.

MR. MORRIS: Right. But I did initiate the campaign against
State Borders?
A. That was the last thing you did really in the group and
that was in 1988. Yes, you started that off. I think you
also took part, you also used to answer letters from time
to time as well, particularly from local groups and things
who wanted to know, like, campaigning locally. There was
some campaigns at the time to do with local green open
spaces that were being developed or built on and I remember
you taking an interest in that.

Q. Right. Thank you. If we could just move on to - we have
nearly finished now on this particular thing - 2nd August,
the notes of Brian Bishop.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is 162.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. And if we look on the last page of those
notes, and I think this is the King's Investigation Bureau
report actually that I have got rather than the notes.

MR. RAMPTON: That is signed by Mr. Bishop on page 163 and on
174.

MR. MORRIS: Well, I have got a 3 page things headed King's
Investigation Bureau Limited.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I know you have, but which do you want to
work on?

MR. MORRIS: I want to rely on that because I have got marks on
that one. I do not know if the other one is exactly the
same or not. In fact, the other one is exactly the same.
Yes, it is same text. It does say:

"The fayre on 27th October will incorporate the
anti-McDonald's fayre. I did get the impression that Dave
Morris in particular did not seem to place a lot of
importance on the McDonald's Company itself. He stated
that it 'just happened to be McDonald's that got chosen to
represent the multinationals'."

Does that or does that not ring true with you as regards my
attitude?
A. It does very much so, yes. It very much accords with
the sort of thing I remember you used to say, Dave, at
meetings.
