Day 150 - 07 Jul 95 - Page 79

  Q. So can we say that, effectively, you were Store Manager of
the Year, Supervisor of the Year and you were Supervisor of
a store which, because of your influence, became Store of
       the Year?
       A. Yes, and you can also add on I was President Award
Winner the following year. So I had a bit of a run on
       then, so to speak.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That was your purple patch, was it?
       A. I was doing quite nicely then.

MR. MORRIS: Maybe I will just ask you some background
information. You wanted to finish at four, I believe?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not want to finish at four but, since it
is Friday, I do not see why we should not finish a bit
earlier than normal. What I suggest is you go on for about
five or 10 minutes and then stop at a moment which is
convenient to you and Ms. Steel. Then I would like you to
give me the best indication you can of how long you think
you will be with Mr. Stanton.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness) You started work for McDonald's
       right after you finished college?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Full-time?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Had you ever worked full-time before that?
       A. No.

  Q. In a shop?
       A. No, McDonald's was my first job.

  Q. You have worked at McDonald's continuously from that time?
       A. Yes, I have.

  Q. You said you started off as hourly paid and became trainee
       Manager after about three months?
       A. Yes.

  Q. When you were hourly paid were you, for all that time, a
natural crew person, lowest level crew person or were you
       Floor Manager at some stage?
       A. No, no. I started off, to use your terms, a lowest
level as a crew person. Cooking, preparing and serving.

  Q. Did you do any job between being crew person to being
       trainee Manager?
       A. No, I got my, sort of, tests and proficiencies or
stars, as we call them, and then I became the trainee
Manager. So I was not a Floor Manager, or anything in
       between.

  Q. You missed out all the levels in between?
       A. I did.

  Q. Some people start as trainee Managers, do they not?
Especially post graduates come in as trainee Managers?
