Day 260 - 11 Jun 96 - Page 36
set at the beginning of the meeting; and, obviously, if
somebody wanted to raise a point that they wanted to have
discussed during the meeting, it would be put onto the
agenda.

Q. Then they would bring up this point, but there would not
necessarily be a great discussion involving people, like:
"Are you for this or are you against this", but people
would say, "There is something coming up", or, "I feel
something should happen"?
A. They would have to rely on the responses they received
from the people that were present at the meeting.

Q. All I am saying is that if -----

MS. STEEL: Not everybody would respond?
A. That would be up to them. Of course they would not.

Q. But that was generally what happened, that not everybody
responded; it was like some people would be interested in a
subject and so they would respond, and other people would
just stay quiet and not get involved?
A. Yes. It is slightly academic, because it was very rare
for anyone to put anything on to the agenda, anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause there. I wish I went to more
meetings like that.

MR. MORRIS: Most of the agenda was taken up, then, with
reporting back on things that had happened and talking
about things that were coming up?
A. That was the majority of the content of the meeting.

Q. The same, what you said about assumptions; it was assumed
that everyone would be interested in what people were
reporting back on ---
A. No.

Q. -- or what was coming up, but the reality was, those that
were interested in a particular event would have gone to it
or would go to it, and it was more of an information
exchange; that was the general pattern?
A. You are once again trying to put a comment that starts
within the group to talking about the meetings. The
comment that has generated -----

Q. Forget the -----
A. I am sorry.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think we have to leave it there, quite
frankly. We have been round and round it, and you can
address me on it in due course. You may want to give
evidence on it in due course. But I want you to leave that
topic there. We have had enough questions and answers on
it. You can make what of it what you wish.

I am going to adjourn now until two o'clock. I would like
a little time spent during the adjournment between the
parties to see where we are going on the argument about
discovery of documents or parts of documents, because,
