Day 275 - 08 Jul 96 - Page 30

       in control.

Where it says that -- well, "she seemed to know a lot
about the group and most campaigns, she has a lot of
knowledge on all anti-Mc activities past and present." It
sounds like what I was probably doing was giving some kind
of a history of the group and, probably, if somebody had
brought up about the anti-McDonald's campaign, said
something about the history of the campaign. But anything
that I would have said would basically be because of my
knowledge as a result of the fact that it had been repeated
at so many previous meetings. Anybody who attended the
meetings for any length of time would rapidly get to know
the history of the group and, therefore, if ever the
history, if anyone wanted to know the history of the group,
just about anybody could have recited it even if they had
only been in the group for, you know, six months, or
       something like that.

I certainly did not admit to helping with all
       anti-McDonald's information leaflets and their
distribution. I am not entirely sure what that is supposed
to mean that I said, but I know I would not have said
       that.

The next one I think I want to refer to is page 71,
       Mr. Claire's notes of 8th February 1990. I do recall a
discussion about the BBC World Service and Paul saying that
he was keen to go and take part in a debate with
McDonald's. I do not remember the description about a
great moral victory and not letting it go or die down. I
do remember Minnesota saying something about a press
release could be written to let people know that McDonald's
were not willing to go on air and defend their practices.
I do not remember it being hyped up or anything like that.
I have certainly never heard anybody in the group or at
meetings say that there were not any sources to back up
what was said in the leaflet, that is complete garbage.
Anyone who ever talked about any of the anti-McDonald's
leaflets always gave every indication of believing that
they were true and, yes, well, just as I say, I have never
heard anyone say anything to the effect that they did not
have any sources to back them up.

I certainly do not remember this quote about saying
"McDonald's refusal was lucky because if McDonald's had
said yes they may have with true facts and figures made
London Greenpeace look shitty." I do not remember anything
       like that ever being said.

MR. MORRIS: I do not know if the witness is aware that it is a
       couple of minutes to one?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you have got anything more to say about
       that meeting--

  MS. STEEL: No.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- we will deal with it, otherwise we will
       break off now?
