Day 197 - 07 Dec 95 - Page 62
Q. Let me put to you the substance of this meeting I am
talking about.
A. It would be very nice to hear this one. This will be
a nice story I believe.

Q. They were complaining about your performance as a Manager,
they were wondering what had gone wrong, and they were
saying to you that maybe the new job which you were
thinking of taking would be the best way out of a
difficult situation; is that right?
A. That is the first time I have heard that.

Q. You never said a word about the malpractices which you
have given evidence about in this court?
A. The whole -- I mean if we are getting on to why I left
the Company, which I did not think was the reason I was
here, is the whole reason that happened was because of the
way I was being treated by my then Supervisor. It was a
personal thing. It has nothing to do with this case
really. It was a personal vindictive attack on me as a
person. When I complained about that, the way I was being
treated and hounded, I did not get the reaction that
I expected, I left the Company. That has no bearing on
what is happening here today.

Q. But I thought you told us yesterday that when you had
these meetings what you were saying to them was: "I am
being made to do all these unacceptable things"?
A. Well, yes, that is what I just said.

Q. You did say that?
A. I mean to elaborate on that slightly, under working
with Mark Davies I knew that what I was expected to do,
what I was expected to achieve. I was constantly under
pressure, but I did the job. I knew that I was backed.
I had a Supervisor I could go to if there was a problem.
We would get through the problem together. I had the
backing there. Under the new Supervisor who was telling
me, "You are not allowed to do these things, but I expect
them to go on, if I catch you you will be disciplined", he
actively went out of his way to finds ways of getting rid
of me, who encouraged other members of staff to actually
make statements about me, to give me warnings. That was
the reason I left the Company. I find it very amusing
that all these reviews do not seem to be here, statements,
warnings that I never signed, codes for the reason I left
the Company I have not signed. I did not think I was on
trial today.

Q. You are not on trial.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. Let us take the five-minute break
there. Mr. Rampton, I can see from the documents I have
now got that four years before Mr. Davies was getting on
at Mr. Coton about not bringing Managers through and crew
levels, his Supervisor, Mr. Davies' Supervisor, was
getting on at Mr. Davies about exactly the same things in
his case. What I cannot see from any of the documents
I have is what turnover was like under Mr. Davies.
I would be grateful if there are any documentations on
