       A. Not at the same time. I mean, you do not get a combo
with cows and steers in it.

  Q. You said you exported to Hong Kong. Is that McDonald's
       patties?
       A. Yes. I do not do it now; I said I did.

  Q. What years was that in, approximately?
       A. We finished exporting to Hong Kong when they built the
plant in Chang Sing; that would be the beginning of 1994.

  Q. How many years had you done that for?
       A. Three.

  Q. Just one thing: The plant at Scunthorp, do you know when
       it opened?
       A. 1980.

  Q. 1980?
       A. You have made me look again.

  Q. I am a bit surprised. 1989?
       A. 1989, sorry.

  Q. September 1989. Have you been to many countries to observe
McDonald's beef supply systems, chain -- I mean processing
       plants?
       A. Processing plants, yes.

  Q. Can you name some of the countries that you have been to
       outside Europe apart from Brazil?
       A. Australia, New Zealand. Outside Europe, I do not know
if -- if you do not want me to mention Brazil -- those are
       the ones outside Europe.

  Q. You have not been to any others?
       A. I have been to American ones.

  Q. America?
       A. Yes, I have been to -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: By "America" you mean US, do you?
       A. US, sir. Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Nashville,

MR. MORRIS: But no other countries apart from Australia,
       New Zealand and Brazil?
       A. I cannot think of any at the moment -- I mean, apart
       from European countries.

MS. STEEL: Have you got pink XVI there, please? Could you turn
to tab 12, please? This is a letter dated 16th June 1989
from Mike Matthews, the Operations Manager of McDonald's,
to Mr. C. Worrell in Bath. He says: "Thank you for your
letter of 13th June concerning my Company's beef purchases.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to 'put the record
straight' and correct the rumours circulated by the media
