Day 203 - 12 Jan 96 - Page 68

for us for a number of years was not walking out of
McDonald's on to the street and, you know, that is -- and
I think Mike actually said that to me. So, yes, that was
the purpose of the meeting and, yes.

  Q. So the primary purpose of the meeting was not to discuss
the purchase of the Company car; it was, in fact, another
       reason?
       A. Well, I have said in the statement that at the time
I made the statement that was all I could remember. That
was what I think the primary meeting seemed to be to do
       that.

  Q. You were not -----
       A. And that Mike wanted to satisfy himself as exactly as I
have said. Whether, to be honest with you, you know, which
was the primary purpose of the meeting, certainly both
things came out. So if you, you know -- but, as I saw it,
that was an important issue that Mike had an answer for.

  Q. Were you approached by the Plaintiffs' solicitors round
about the end of November, beginning of December last year,
i.e. about a month ago, five, six weeks ago, about these
meetings, who attended, were there notes made, that kind of
       thing?
       A. I was approached by the solicitors, I think, some time
in November. I do not -- I think, yes, we discussed the
meetings at the beginning of December, I think.

  Q. Did you tell them who had attended these meetings?
       A. I told them what is contained in my statement
       and -----

  Q. Right. That would have been when they first approached
you, you said: "These people attended this is what I
       remember"?
       A. Yes, I do not understand what your point is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do not worry, just answer the question,
       Mr. Skehel.
       A. OK, sorry.

MR. MORRIS: Was that just before you went away on holiday? Did
you go on holiday around that time, the beginning of
       December?
       A. Oh, in 1995?

  Q. Yes, sorry, about five weeks ago or something?
       A. Yes, I did, yes.

  Q. So this would have been before you went on holiday you
informed them of these kind of details, did you?
       A. Yes, I mean, we had several discussions about trying to
pin down the number of meetings that occurred ---

  Q. Right.
       A. -- prior to Ray leaving and, to be honest with you, you
know, it is -- I am sure you are aware of how difficult it
is to know exactly what happened at a time, and I thought
those meetings were to identify exactly what happened.
