     2   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  I do not know whether he did; I am not sure
              we have.  Who have we had?

         MS. STEEL:  Mr. Horwitz.

         MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Mr. Horwitz said he ate in McDonald's every
     5        day.  I am not sure he said he ate a hamburger every day.
              A.  Again Mr. Horwitz is from America and their range of
     6        McDonald's is rather different.  It is rather more
              extensive, I think, so it would be quite easy to pop in
     7        and have a coffee.
 
     8   Q.   Have you done any research which enables you to give an
              expert view from the witness box on what sort of people
     9        with what sort of other dietary habits eat in McDonald's?
              A.  No, nor am I aware of any.

         MS. STEEL:  Can I just ask one further question about the
    11        charts?  Why did you express -----
              A.  Whereabouts are we now?

         MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Which table?

         MS. STEEL:  Table 1, for example.  Why did you express sodium
    14        as milligrams per calorie?  Is that a normal type of
              expression?
    15        A.  It is one that is used.  It is a way of expressing the
              concentration of the sodium in the diet that enables us to
    16        make comparisons with other foods and with, in this case,
              a total diet.

         Q.   But your sodium intake does not have to be balanced in
    18        relation to your calories, does it?
              A.  I do not see how that question follows.

         Q.   Do you not?
    20        A.  No.
 
    21   Q.   Why does it matter how many milligrams of sodium per
              calorie, because it is your total sodium intake that
    22        matters, is it not?
 
    23   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  But it is a calorie chart, is it not, a
              calorie table?
    24        A.  It is, yes.  I mean, the calorie really is the prime
              element of nutrient in the diet and we have used that as a
    25        basis, but from the information that is there, it would
              be, if you want to work out what it means in terms of 
    26        total sodium, then it is very easy to do. 
  
    27   MS. STEEL:   Yes, you can work it out.
              A.  And we did a test on it.

         Q.   At the moment I am just asking why it was put in that
    29        form.
 
    30   MR. MORRIS:  Do we know when the intention is to break?
         MR. JUSTICE BELL:  We were going to break at about half past
