MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, it is in defendant's expert references
volume 1 which has a pale green on the back and it is
divider 3, Miss Brophy's reference. (Same handed).
A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: OK.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you. I am impressed by Mr. Rampton
remembering this, I must say.

MS. STEEL: Sorry?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am impressed by Mr. Rampton being able to
remember it.

MR. RAMPTON: I had looked at it last night.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am getting lost with which document is in
this case even after two years.

MR. RAMPTON: I was looking at it last night, that is all.

MS. STEEL: As we see on the front cover it is dated September
'93?
A. That is right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: September '93.

MS. STEEL: On page 33 there are long-term proposals and it is
headed, "This is a summary of the long-term proposals
derived from the expert committees".
A. Yes.

Q. Number 5 is, "Fat intake should be on average 30 per cent
of the total energy intake". Number 16, "Saturated fatty
acid intake should be on average ten per cent of total
energy intake". Then number 9, "Average sucrose intake
should be reduced to 20 kilogrammes per head per year"--

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Which was the second one? I have got 5?

MS. STEEL: 5, 6, is the saturated fatty acid intake.

"In calculating the sucrose content of snacks as distinct
from total sucrose in the diet a lower value of ten should
be taken. 10, Fibre intake should increase on average to
30 grammes from 20 grammes per head per day. The increase
to come mainly from the increased consumption of wholegrain
cereals. An increase in vegetable and fruit consumption
should also be advocated. 11, it would be desirable if
salt intake on average fell by 3 grammes per head per day.
12, protein intake should not be altered but a greater
proportion of vegetable protein developing from the other
recommendations is appropriate."

Those were the recommendations throughout the 1980's
were they, or when were they taken over by some other
recommendation?
