Day 268 - 24 Jun 96 - Page 36
morning which gives you an opportunity to tell her as soon
as you arrive at Court tomorrow morning, that you want Mr.
Pocklington recalled, I in fact will not give leave for him
to be recalled. As I say, that sounds fiercer than it is
because if you tell Mrs. Brindley-Codd, do it this
afternoon if you possibly can, but first thing tomorrow
when you arrive at Court at the latest. Then Mr.
Pocklington, I hope, can be brought on Wednesday
afternoon. What about Mr. Bishop? What is his
availability.

MR. ATKINSON: Well, I am told he is out of the country at the
moment until the weekend.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, he can come back any morning at 10.30,
whatever else we are doing, and Miss Steel can put her
short further cross-examination to him.

MS. STEEL: I just wanted to ask one point which was that Mr.
Rampton said something the other day about opening the
floodgates and I wanted to confirm that if we get them back
to ask them about a specific point in the notes that it is
not going reopen re-examination and only on that particular
point.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Well, you can work on that basis.

MS. STEEL: Right. OK. Thank you.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There is nothing hidden there, is there Mr.
Atkinson? I cannot remember.

MS. STEEL: I am not sure whether the floodgates was with
reference to what they were saying or what we were saying.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not think it was opening the floodgates
as far as re-examination is concerned. I think Mr. Rampton
was expressing concern that you want to go on to other
things, but you have made it quite clear that that is the
only matter that troubles you.

MS. STEEL: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Very well. We will go on with Professor
Crawford in the morning then.
