Day 274 - 04 Jul 96 - Page 25

MR. MORRIS: There is just one thing from the notes, on 24th May
1990, the notes of Brian Bishop, I am not sure what page
       that would be.

MR. RAMPTON: Page 123, my Lord.

MR. MORRIS: Thank you. On page 124. This is a meeting which
apparently you attended, according to all three agents who
were present, who in their notes said they were present,
said in the middle of that page 124 there was a discussion
about a coming public meeting about anarchism and socialism
differences which apparently was suggested by one of the
agents Brian Bishop who had only just recently attended the
       group, started attending the group.

Then it says: Somebody telephoned Dave. Helen phoned
Dave, I think. Well, that is what it says.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What do you want to ask about this?

MR. MORRIS: It says that it is said that I was trying to change
the content of the public meeting to a subject that I
wanted discussed and I was trying to do this over the
       phone. Then it says:

"It was generally felt that if he wished to do this he
should turn up at weekly meetings in person."

Have you got any comments about that?
       A. Well, I mean, I can imagine that being said. I mean, I
do not know what the conversation was that you had on the
phone. It may have been about the meeting. But if you had
tried to have any input into the group, we would have,
yes. I remember when the phone was put down, you know,
yes, that if Dave wants to have any comment on the meeting
then he should turn up in person as anyone should. I mean,
involvement in a group involved attending the meetings. I
do not know if you did suggest anything.

MS. STEEL: I want to go on now to the -- there should be two
pages on top of Mr. -- I got them out during the break --
they should be on top of Mr. Claire's notes, yes, which are
further points to be raised by defence publication
witnesses in response to the testimony of the plaintiffs'
publication witnesses, if everybody has got that. If I
could just go through these. No. 1, the 10,000 leaflets
mistakenly printed by Aldgate Press were short A5 "What's
Wrong With McDonald's" leaflets. Do you confirm that?
       A. Yes, they were. I think they were commissioned by
Hackney and Islington Animal Rights Campaign.

  Q. Is it all right to do this as if it was a statement or
       should I ask a question?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest you do is, as far as I am
concerned, all you need do is read out the part of the
statement and say, as you have done, "is that correct".
You can do it one paragraph or a number at a time,
selecting those which you expect that Miss Laporte will be
