Day 062 - 06 Dec 94 - Page 21
Q. Do these tables contain any information about corrugate
transport packaging?
A. No, they do not.

Q. Do we find information about corrugated transport packaging
on pages 7.9 and 7.10 of this same report?
A. Yes.

Q. Can I ask you to look at 7.10 while you have it there? You
write: "The overall use in corrugated has risen
considerably over the last two years". This is written,
when, 1993?
A. This must be somewhere in the beginning of 1993 the
report is issued.

Q. "17 and 31 per cent respectively. This has to be weighed
against an overall increase in the use of recycled
material, which resulted in a decrease in the use of virgin
corrugated". We can see that illustrated, can we not, at
the top of the page where the dark black is the virgin
content?
A. Yes.

Q. On the left-hand side it is absolute figures in thousands
of kilograms, is it?
A. Yes, it is.

Q. "The recycled content went from on average less than 35 per
cent", would that be in 1990 then, according to that chart,
or does it mean 1991? I was not sure.
A. 1990.

Q. 1990. One can see, at any rate, some of that column on
1990 is hatched which appears to mean corrugated recycled?
A. Yes, it is.

Q. Am I right that it is about 500,000 kgs?
A. Yes, from what I can read from this, yes.

Q. Roughly?
A. Yes.

Q. "The recycled content went from on average of less than 35
per cent to about 71 per cent (current minimum requirement
is 50 per cent). The shorter fibres in recycled material
makes it necessary to increase the thickness of the
corrugated to get similar quality features". There is a
sentence about polyethylene foil, is that right, is that
what "PE" stands for?
A. Polyethylene foil, yes.

Q. Can I ask you, you write there: "The recycled content went
from an average of less than 35 per cent to about 71 per
cent (current minimum requirement is 50 per cent)", and
this is in early 1993 reflecting 1992. To what extent do
the manufacturers of your recycled fibre products exceed
the minimum requirement which they appear to have done
here, the minimum requirement was 50 per cent?
A. And the current minimum requirement is still 50 per
cent at this point in time. They have still -----
