Day 208 - 24 Jan 96 - Page 16

       A. In the last year, I was probably going into classes
       about three days a week.

  Q. But the people that are retaking their exams, do they tend
to go to all the lessons?
       A. Well -----

  Q. Are they expected to go to all the lessons?
       A. You go to all the lessons, but the school -- I did not
have to be there for free periods and such like. So,
although I say three days, it would have actually been
split over different days; so you would be in five days,
but it was only half days.

  Q. So it is five days a week, but it totalled three days in
       terms of the hours?
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: Can I come back to the rap sessions? I have not got
much else I wanted to ask you. You are trying to paint a
picture that people go there have a negative view of the
Company and that they just make negative comments, and
       then -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can we ask about that, because I was in two
minds about just what Mr. Cox did mean there, as to whether
he meant people who volunteered were ones who had a
negative attitude or that the points made and registered
       tended to be negative points.

(To the witness) Just what did you mean? It was very early
when you were being asked questions by Ms. Steel or
       Mr. Morris.

MS. STEEL: I think it is in answer to Mr. Rampton, in fact.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is quite true. It was, yes.

THE WITNESS: Well, the idea behind the rap session is to air
any complaints or grievances that you have about the
store. You see the numbers. Personally, for a meeting,
I would not say there are very many. I mean, the one on
24th February 1995 is attended by seven people. We have up
to 100 hourly paid people in the store at one time actually
on the clock card file. That is less than 10 per cent.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. But are you saying that people who
attended the rap sessions were people who had a negative
attitude towards McDonald's, or just that they were people
who wanted to have a criticism which they had heard?
Express it in your own words, rather than have me lead you
into an answer. What you do you mean?
       A. I would not say they were people that were generally
negative. They were just people that have found or seen a
negative point within the store, and that was their chance
to let somebody know about it. It is the whole idea behind
the session. That is why, generally speaking, there are
very few people that will have attended all the rap
sessions since they have been there. There will be a
couple of people that have attended a few; there will be a
