Day 271 - 01 Jul 96 - Page 07
our co-defendants--

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There may be some relevance there, but I
would not want either side to think that I see it, at the
moment, of any real importance to my decision the fact the
apologies were made and the reasons for making them.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I respectfully agree with that. The
only relevance it could have - in fact it has two
relevances. One is, when one looks at certain documents,
who was still the defendants? There is that relevance.
But the main relevance, I think, is by reference to Tudor
Atkin, but the other relevance it might have, although
whether I should raise it I am doubtful, is in relation to
Mr. Gravett's own credibility as a witness.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Fair enough, but there is no reason to stand
in the way of the defendants producing that evidence--

MR. RAMPTON: Not in the least, no.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- from Mr. Gravett, whether or not it helps
me at the end of the day. Well, we will resume at 10.30
tomorrow morning.
