Day 044 - 02 Nov 94 - Page 63
Q. If we go back to the list of adverts: I think that was a
general theme of most of the ads. This Happy Holiday
skating advert, No. 12, ronald mcdonald, there were no
adults in that advertisement, were there?
A. I think that there were, but I am not sure but
I believe that there were older children.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: They were older children. They might have
been, by my recollection, sort of 15 or 16 year-olds, but
do you remember anyone older than that?
A. I am trying to remember -- again we would probably have
to take a look at it -- but I do remember the older, 16, 17
year-olds.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Could someone tell me, did the tape have
numbers on the bottom as it played, or does the machine
have the usual numbers which come up, so it would be
possible to mark particular ads which are mentioned by
number from the beginning of the tape?

MR. RAMPTON: There is a counter on the machine.

MR. MORRIS: That was No. 12.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. What I am inviting you to do is not
curtail your cross-examination, but if you have a list of
particular ads, identify those before we adjourn this
afternoon. Questions like cross-examination, testing the
quality of Mr. Green's answers, put over until tomorrow
because we can actually show the ad then.

MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But if you identify, for instance, No. 12,
Happy Holidays, query, whether any adults are there, then
leave the rest. If you have some question about that, you
can ask it in the morning when we find it.

MR. MORRIS: Yes, except that I would prefer to put the question
when I have alerted the witness to what the main point is,
because I do not always put the question in that simple
form.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Identify the ads now. Are you prepared?
I think you should, I have to say, identify the ads by
number and what they were.

MR. MORRIS: I have found what the kissing the girl, the food
kissing the girl one is, it is "Puppet Surprise", No. 20.
I am just trying to have a look through to see the
important ones. There is No. 27, Glowing Places, the blue
bags. Is it all right, I think we can get through this
today if I can just ask simple questions each time.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, very well. I think you should finish to
finish asking your questions by ten past four, if you can.

MR. MORRIS: Yes, I think we should be able to get through it
because a lot of the themes run throughout. Do you
remember that advertisement?
