them, but he may have them, he may not.

MR. MORRIS: In your statement to the Labour Board -- you do not
have to go to it -- but it says: "Sarah also said that if
Cam decided to randomly fire people they could not fight
for my job back if you had given your card back"?
       A. If I got my card back, right.

  Q. If you got your card back, sorry. Quite a lot of the other
statements say similar things. Your understanding of the
part of this intervenors' group was that the reason why
people did not press for their cards back in your opinion
       because ---
       A. I do not know.

  Q. -- it had been said by Sarah that you might get sacked?
       A. I do not know. I am not everybody else. I am just
me. I can only tell you what I know.

MS. STEEL: You said on Friday 1st October you talked to Sabina
about the problem as you saw it in the lobby of the
restaurant. Was there a particular reason why you spoke to
       Sabina?
       A. Well, Sabina and I were going to go out that night
together and we just started talking about the union. That
       just came up.

  Q. You say that by that time you had both found out
independently that Sarah had succeeded in gaining the
signatures of a significant number of staff. How had you
       found that out?
       A. I did not know for a fact that she had signed a lot.
I just -- Chris -- I do not know if it was Chris, I do not
know who was saying something, but there was something
going round that a lot of people signed. I do not though
       who told me or .....

  Q. You had both found out independently that she had succeeded
in gaining the signatures of a significant number of staff?
       A. I do not know who I found out from.

  Q. It might have been Chris though?
       A. I do not know think it was Chris but I do not know. If
it was from Chris, it was from that night, not before,
because Chris did not know anything about it until we told
       him.

  Q. Then why should you say that you might have found it out
       from him?
       A. If it was from him, it was from that night when we
       spoke to him.

  Q. That night when you sat down together, you found out from
Chris that Sarah had succeeded in gaining the signatures of
a significant number of staff; you found that out from him
because you and Sabina had already told him?
       A. No, we did not say anything to Chris until that night.
It is the first time we said anything to him.

  Q. So, he knew beforehand?
