Day 249 - 14 May 96 - Page 56

  Q. Right.
       A. Dave Hornblow.

  Q. Who is also security?
       A. Also security. I am not sure whether Mimi Holme went.
She went to one. I do not know whether it was the '88
       -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Who was that, the last one?
       A. Mimi Holme. She is the secretary in the security
       department, my Lord, and myself.

MS. STEEL: You all went separately?
       A. Yes.

  Q. How long were you there for?
       A. I must say, I got a surprise when I got inside the door
because you were not in the actual main hall; you were in
the hallway. You were the first table, sort of a half a
       hexagon table.

  Q. You mean London Greenpeace?
       A. Yes, sorry, not you; I do not even know whether you
were there. Next to you was one of your supporting
organisations and next to them was Veggies. Now, I had
already had a confrontation with Veggies. I mean, a face
to face with the man who organises Veggies.

  Q. Who is that?
       A. I cannot remember his name now, but he sat in court
since the trial started. I certainly was not looking for a
confrontation. So I stopped ten minutes, perhaps.

  Q. Did he recognise you?
       A. I did not see him there and I did not want him to see
       me there.

  Q. All right.
       A. When I say "head to head confrontation", confrontation
is probably the wrong word. He had a demonstration in
Nottingham when he paraded a veggie burger through the
streets with a band and then presented them to me at the
door of the restaurant in Nottingham and there was some
banter between him and I. I invited him in for a meal.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There was no vulgar abuse, or anything.

THE WITNESS: But the point was I felt he would know me if
I hung around here too long and I had a confrontation, so
I got out. I did not actually go into the main hall.

MS. STEEL: Just about that thing in Nottingham, had you gone
up there to meet Veggies? Was this at the time of
       the-----
       A. Yes, yes, they had -- well, I do not know how I found
out, but I found out there was going to be this
demonstration. Marcus Hewson was the regional manager up
there. Although a good regional manager, he had not dealt
with many demonstrations in his career and he asked me to
       go up and stand alongside.
