Day 132 - 07 Jun 95 - Page 51
to the Defendants.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. What I suggest is, you are going to be
able hand over other stuff when I rise, are you?

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. I have the completed statement which I will
hand up now to your Lordship with its appendices. It has
all the HACCP sheets (we had a selection before) that are
available for the time that Ms. Hovi was at Jarretts. The
statement itself is 25 pages long, as I think I said
yesterday. Mrs. Brinley-Codd has done what your Lordship
asked which is to obtain the originals of some of the
documents.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. RAMPTON: Particularly, I think, the boning room temperature
sheets which she will make available at the appropriate
time in court, as your Lordship directs. There are two
brand new mint copies for the Defendants.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest you do is take your time to
look at those and if you have any comment to make I will
hear that later.

MR. RAMPTON: I should add that your Lordship will see we have
done so far as possible what your Lordship asked us to do,
which is to indicate which parts of the new statement,
answer, allegation sprung on us entirely new by Ms. Hovi in
the witness box, some about which there might be an
argument in the sense that, broadly speaking, it might be
said she raised the allegation but without any detail
whatsoever, and then I think in one case, it might be two,
an expansion of what one might call an answer to an old
allegation. The key is at the end of the document.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I will not say anything at the moment.
I will have a look at those.

MR. RAMPTON: I point that out to your Lordship.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The only other matter I had on my mind to
deal with this afternoon is the question of what happens
next week.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You still adhere to half a day in-chief, do
you, Mr. Rampton?

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, I do. If I was 10 minutes after lunch
I apologise.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But essentially half a day.

MR. RAMPTON: Essentially half a day, not more.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What do you think about cross-examination?

MS. STEEL: We think probably two days but we are not really
