Day 060 - 02 Dec 94 - Page 51

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you turn on until you get to the late 20s
       and 30s.
       A. What am I looking for? What heading?

MS. STEEL: It has "Environment" at the top of it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have a number on 33 and a number on 35,
       bottom right-hand corner.

MS. STEEL: The 34 is in the bottom left-hand corner.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, that is quite right.

  THE WITNESS: I have it.

MS. STEEL: Do you see there there is a chart for Recycled
Material Used in 1991 and it says: "Carry-out bags
(between 60 and 80 per cent recycled material)"?
       A. That would have been prior to going to the unbleached
       bag.

  Q. That is what you are asserting, is it?
       A. The unbleached bag is the brown bag that you now see in
the restaurants. Prior to that time it was a white bag
which contained a higher percentage of recycled material,
but it was not unbleached and it was not 100 per cent
       recycled.

  Q. Do you know when that change over took place in 1991?
       A. Not exactly, no. I would not guess at it. I know it
was 1991, but I would not guess exactly when. Perseco,
I am sure, would have that recorded.

  Q. You see, the Apple Pie Box there has got 72 per cent?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And in your statement it was only changed to 72 per cent in
       May 1991?
       A. Yes.

  Q. If the change over took place before May, could we safely
presume that the carry-out bags would say 100 per cent?
       A. No, because they are totally different suppliers.

  Q. I am sorry. I do not understand what you mean by that.
       A. The apple pie carton is produced by one supplier and
       the paper bags by another.

  Q. Yes, I understand that; I just do not understand how it
would make any difference to your chart.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: They might change at a different time if they
are not the same supplier, I suppose. Is that the point
       you have in mind?
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: No, the point I am making, though, is that if it is
recorded here that Apple Pie Boxes are made from 72 per
       cent recycled material ---
