Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 51

  Q. OK. But there may have been some exceptions?
       A. There may be.

MS. STEEL: Can I just ask: when you said there may have been
later meetings when you did not mention everyone who
attended, you were referring to people whose names you did
not know, so you could not mention their names?
       A. Yes, yes, people who I did not know. There were
occasions when two or three people would attend meetings
that I had never seen before.

  Q. But in terms of people whose names you knew, you would have
made a note of their names had they attended?
       A. I am fairly sure I would, yes.

MR. MORRIS: You then named a list of people who attended
regularly, do you remember, when Mr. Rampton asked you --
the "regulars" you called them; do you remember?
       A. I do not remember calling them regulars. I remember
       giving a list.

MS. STEEL: You did actually call them regulars.

MR. MORRIS: You named, I think, what you called regulars:
Paul Gravett, Helen Steel, Dave Morris, Jane,
Andrew Clarke; and there were some other regulars, what you
       called regulars; yes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The people that only attended a handful of meetings or less
than a handful of meetings while you were going, in that
period you were going, they would not have been able to
have any influence on what was going on generally; do you
       agree with that?
       A. No, I do not agree with that. I am not quite sure what
you mean by "handful", to begin with. But, secondly, there
were obviously some people who had had an association with
       the group for a long time and whose views were respected;
and those people were generally listened to, should they
       attend.

  Q. But in terms of organisational matters, they would not have
been involved in the day-to-day organisational matters?
       A. I am not sure enough about what you are saying and
about you what you mean by "handful". I am not sure who
       you are referring to.

  Q. Right. You attended 26 meetings at least; those are the
ones that are named; and I presume you attended others
where the details have not gone down in the statements and
in the notes. Obviously, you turned over all your notes,
did you not, to the agency?
       A. I did, yes.

  Q. But only the ones that have been disclosed, that the
solicitors decided to rely on; yes? Do you know how many
meetings -- have you any idea of how many meetings did not
crop up in the statements in the end?
       A. I have no idea at all, no.
