Day 184 - 06 Nov 95 - Page 43
So you were for then -- was he for negotiations between the
union and the employer to get enhanced benefits?
A. I am sorry. I am sorry, I do not understand the
question.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just ask the question. Try not to say "so".
I know we have had it, and if you fall into a way of speech
it is very difficult to remember to miss it.

MR. MORRIS: Negotiation between -- is it something that you
would, thinking back on it, now support, negotiations
between -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is it? You see, I do not know, that is where
you have taken a leap. You may be right, but I do not
think she has accepted that she was for negotiation. Maybe
Miss Iurilla is for it, maybe she is not. But she has not
expressed a view to me at the moment.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): Is it now something that you
would support, which is negotiations between unions and the
employers to get enhanced benefits for crew workers?
A. At McDonald's, no.

Q. Really, you are just anti-union?
A. No, I would not say that. I mean, if I went to another
job and, you know, maybe from when I worked there and I was
not happy and, you know, I thought a union could do some
good, then I would definitely try. But at McDonald's I am
happy, so why would I want to disrupt that?

Q. So your position is that if McDonald's workers are unhappy
and want to improve things, then it is a reasonable step to
take to join a union and negotiate for improvements?
A. If that is what they feel, then go for it.

Q. You said that it was Sarah Ingliss mainly, and
Chris Morrison. How many others, apart from those two, who
were actually really doing a lot of work in talking to
people, and stuff?
A. I am not sure exactly. I know Sarah -- well,
Chris Morrison said to me that he had a list of 10 to 15
people which Sara told him to get to sign up, like, get
them to sign cards; and he said that there were other
people with the same list with lists of 10 to 15 crew that
they were to try and get to sign cards. So -- and, I mean,
Chris Morrison was the one approaching me. I do not know
who approached who, so -----

Q. So you got advice about organising a petition to the
Ontario Labour Relations Board from Chris Broom's father?
A. From Chris Broom.

Q. Through his father?
A. And Chris Broom, I assume, talked to his father, yes.

Q. Right. You said at the bottom of page of
paragraph 20: "The advice about the petition which we have
received from Chris Broom's father".
A. I had assumed that it was from Chris.
