Day 058 - 30 Nov 94 - Page 62
products from?
A. I have not been asked or given any information on that
matter at all.

Q. Have you been given any other information about McDonald's
in any other part of the world, apart from the ones you
have mentioned?
A. No.

Q. I just want to see if there are any further questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, just sit down for a moment.

MR. MORRIS: Just one further question. On page 4 of your
statement, we did discuss it before, at the very bottom,
the last line, you have mentioned about the Southern
Scottish sources, we are talking about the Iggesund plant,
are we not, which is actually in England, included some
imparted hardwood as pulp, yes?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you happen to know roughly what percentage that would be
of the total amount you have identified? Are we talking
about 5 per cent, 2 per cent? What kind of percentage are
we talking about roughly?
A. We did raise this before. I mentioned the subject of
clay and hardwood pulp is very much the surface, the finish
of particular products within the range that Iggesund
make. I think it is fairly negligible. Whether it is
5 per cent or 3 per cent or 1 per cent I really cannot give
you an answer because it is literally the furnish, the
surface of the product rather than the substance of the
product.

Q. If it is surface would it be laminated with hardwood?
A. It is a coated surface which is applied in the sequence
and process of paper-making.

Q. So when you say insignificant, it could be anything between
1 and 5 per cent?
A. I would have to say it might be anywhere between 1 and
5 per cent. If it is a matter of great importance I am
sure we could find out, but it was not considered to be
significant.

MR. MORRIS: Thank you. No further questions.

Re-examined by Mr. Rampton.

Q. Mr. Mallinson, I have only one question. It is an enquiry
really. Could you kindly turn to page 2 of your statement
you made for this case? I am looking at the figures you
give in the table in the paragraph which is reference (ii)
about halfway down the page?
A. Yes.

Q. It has five columns the fourth of which is headed
"Productive Forest in Thousands of Hectares", yes?
A. Yes.
