Day 262 - 13 Jun 96 - Page 16
was talked about updating the anti-McDonald's fact sheets
and leaflets?
A. I recall something of that nature, yes.

MR. MORRIS: At the very bottom, there is something that says:

"We remained at this location all day with the exception of
once when we visited the headquarters of Friends of the
Earth International at 26 Underwood Street to try and
arrange to get hold of some of their leaflets that could be
included in some of the subject groups' mail-outs."

Yes?
A. Yes, that is correct.

Q. That confirmed what I said earlier. I actually had not
read that paragraph, but it confirms from earlier on, yes,
that the group included leaflets from other groups in the
mail-out?
A. Yes. I do not remember exactly what leaflets were
included, but it is certainly possible that Friends of the
Earth was one of those leaflets, yes.

MS. STEEL: If we move on to 7th December, please. This is a
meeting at Caledonian Road. You said that, on arrival,
present at the meeting were Jane, Helen, Mo, Marion,
Jonathan, John and Paul. John and Paul arrived a bit
late. You confirm that, yes?
A. Yes.

Q. You refer then to the meeting at the end of January being
to discuss the future of the group. Then you say:

"One of the subjects to be discussed would be the next
year's anti-McDonald's fair. It was suggested by Mo that
next year's event be the final national anti-McDonald's
fair and that to this event should be invited
representatives of other groups nationwide", and so on; you
carry on there.

Then you say: "This will be discussed further and decided
upon at the meeting in January."

So there was no decision made at that meeting?
A. It does not appear so, no.

Q. No. Do you remember how it was that this suggestion came
about that the next year would be the final anti-McDonald's
fair?
A. I do not remember how it came about. It was a -----

Q. You do not recollect that it was because people such as
myself were saying that there should not be another fair,
because it took up too much of the group's energy?
A. I recall there being a feeling within the group that
McDonald's had occupied too much of, sort of, the group's
central time and that the group should concentrating on
other issues as well. I do not know who in particular in
the group was saying that, but I got the feeling that that
was the general feeling within the group.
