Day 042 - 31 Oct 94 - Page 49
Q. He looks to me as if he is at primary school, rather than
secondary school; 10, maximum of 11, absolute maximum of
11?
A. I do not know what his actual age was, but, to me, I am
sure he would have been a bit older than that, even to
appear.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is no use asking how old the actor is,
because they can look young for their age or old for their
age. But there we are.

MS. STEEL: There was also a reference to "being cool", or
something; what was that intended to suggest?
A. The product itself was sunglasses, which were rather
cool, trendy sunglasses. In the common parlance of the
English language today, it was meant to be cool; not cold,
but cool and trendy.

Q. Right. What would be the purpose of wanting to be cool and
trendy?
A. Well, it is rather like, I think I pointed out on
The Lion King, it is to be topical, fresh, of today,
contemporary; whatever is happening now is what we want to
be.

Q. It is the place to be?
A. It is definitely the place to be, yes.

MS. STEEL: Carry on.

(The next advertisement was shown)

MS. STEEL: I will not ask a question about that. We can just
carry on.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, carry on.

(The next advertisement was shown)

MS. STEEL: Carry on.

(The next advertisement was shown)

MS. STEEL: Is that the one that you were talking about earlier?
A. That is right, yes.

Q. What were the complaints about that?
A. It was more observations, that they did not feel
comfortable with Ronald being quite that contemporary in
the sort of rock band environment.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Someone who does not think that rock bands
are the bee's knees, really?
A. Possibly, my Lord. I think it was perhaps because,
over time, we had built up a certain understanding of what
the character of Ronald is and maybe people felt that that
was a little incongruous, with that.

MS. STEEL: Okay. Carry on.
