Day 136 - 16 Jun 95 - Page 10

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, no, just pause a moment. You are going
to have lots of opportunity to ask him questions.

MR. MORRIS: No, it is just while we are looking at it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I appreciate, but you can come back to it.
If we do not follow the normal form, it descends into a
discussion; that is the only reason why.

MR. RAMPTON: That is the one, Mr. Brown, that I have called
       Pilkington ------

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you hand that to Ms. Steel and
       Mr. Morris, please?

MR. MORRIS: This is a different one?

MR. RAMPTON: No, that is the 1988 one.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, that is the beige one of the two kinds
which were in use in 1988, if I have it right?
       A. No. The Company that made that tile, Pilkington, they
used to make a tile which was called a pin head reference
       33. That was the one that was laid at Epsom. This tile
that I am showing you now is another tile that they have
made, but I brought it along to show that there is this
non-slip property inherent in the tile as well.

MR. RAMPTON: This is similar to the one which was used at
       Epsom?
       A. It is similar in that it had the characteristic of
       being a non-slip tile.

  Q. The last thing, Mr. Brown, if you would not mind just
glancing at the plan -- there is only one question I want
to ask about it -- you will see or you know that some areas
       on it are shaded ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- with sort of dapple graphite effect, if I can call it
       that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Are those the areas you were describing earlier that would
be covered with a specific non-slip material?
       A. Yes, that is correct.

  Q. Finally this: Are all kitchens now designed in the same
way, or are there some which have non-slip flooring, for
       example, Altro all over them?
       A. Can you repeat that?

  Q. Sorry, it was a bad question. Are all restaurants designed
in this way now with only an area that is non-slip rather
than particular pieces of equipment, or are there some
restaurants which still have a complete covering, let us
say, maybe Altro, of non-slip material?
       A. Yes, there are a few still in the system, yes, that
have the complete surface of the safety floor.
