Day 306 - 26 Nov 96 - Page 29

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So, in so far as the A5 leaflet was also a
Veggies leaflet, that, you say, is the evidence of its
       origins, is it?

MS. STEEL: I am not sure I understand that question.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, I thought Mr. Smith said that Veggies
produced an A5 leaflet as well. Printed just on both
       sides.

MS. STEEL: I mean, as you saw the other day, there was one
from Manchester, there are groups all over the country.

MR JUSTICE BELL: Yes, I know, but they are not very, very
different with the various copies I have seen.

MS. STEEL: I don't know. From Mr. Gravett's evidence it
appears that the first A5 leaflet that was done was for
Hackney and Islington Animal Rights, and that was then
adapted for use by London Greenpeace. I don't know whether
or not Veggies did their own version or whether they copied
       that one, to be honest.

MR. MORRIS: I think Mr. Smith explained that Veggies had a
printing service for groups round the country and they were
the main distributors of A5 leaflets.

MR JUSTICE BELL: I remember that. What I have not recalled at
this stage, that Mr. Gravett had written a short A5 leaflet
for Hackney and Islington Animal Rights; that is on page 4
       of 272, is it?

MS. STEEL: Yes. I have also got a reference of 272, page 57,
line 40, which I presume it was referred to again at that
       stage during cross-examination, or something.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: I have not got a reference for this but it must be
somewhere around. I should think, page 4 or 5 of day 272,
because it folds on after that, that he said that somebody
else could have brought some fact sheets but he would not
have handed out the fact sheets on the demonstration as
suggested by Mr. Nicholson, and he also said that Veggies
sometimes came to the head office pickets and that they may
have brought some of their leaflets to the pickets. I
shall find the specific reference to that, seeing as that
is what you were asking me. (Pause)

Day 272, page 5, line 8, question, "Did Veggies people
sometimes attend pickets of head office?" Answer, "Yes,
they did. They did used to come down from time to time and
they may have brought some of their leaflets with them."

Mr. Gravett said that he could not remember ever seeing a
copy of the fact sheet on the 1989 picket. That was day
       273, page 2, line 41. He said on day 273, pages 20 to 21,
that if Helen had been handing out the fact sheet
throughout the picket, or a substantial part he would
