Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 75

dated 28th August, 1990. Is that right?
       A. Yes, yes.

  Q. Here we see at the end of August 1990, that sort of is
about a bit more than 6 weeks before the day of protest,
the World Action Day, a press release advertising it, do we
       not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Right. Well now, I do not want to ask you to read it.
Notice that it says at the bottom of the second and third
paragraph: "We shall be updating our famous fact sheet etc.
in time for October 16th." That is a point I am going to
come back to, so do not think I have left it. And then it
says: "For details of this year's campaign, including how
to obtain leaflets, please send a stamped addressed
       envelope to Caledonian Road".
       A. Yes.

  Q. Now, that is part of the buildup for day of action on
       October 16th, is it not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Well now, the question I have about this and the last
document you looked at is this. Do you say that either the
poster which we looked at just before, or this press
release, was prompted by activities of the inquiry agents?
       A.   Well, they were part of the group at that time;
       regular attenders.

  Q. May be some of them were Mr. Gravett, but who wrote these
       documents?
       A. I wrote them.

  Q. And they went out under the imprint of Greenpeace London,
       did they not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And the World Day of Action on the 16th October against
McDonald's was a London Greenpeace event, was it not?
       A. It was, there was an event that was originally, well,
United Nations World Food Day which was then adopted by
London Greenpeace and we called for this day to be one in
which local groups protested against McDonald's.

  Q. Yes, but it was in no way stimulated or generated, or
whatever word you like to use, by the inquiry agents, was
it? And, in fact, we have seen Michelle Hooker active at
the meeting -- sorry at the protest of the 16th October?
       A. Yes.

  Q. She was not running the show. She did not put the show on
       the road, did she?
       A. She was part of the mail out.

  Q. I know?
       A. For October 16th.

  Q. But the idea--
       A. And started it with Charlie of that week.
