requesting information. My recollection is that if the
inquiries were general in nature, the shorter
anti-McDonald's leaflet was used, but in answer to specific
inquiries the leaflet complained of was enclosed."

The shorter leaflet was also called "What's wrong with
McDonald's?" So, in your notes of 29th November, you would
almost have been referring to the shorter leaflet; yes?
       A. No. Why would I certainly have -----

  Q. Were you answering specific inquiries -- just because these
       were general letters?
       A. As I recall it, some of the letters had already seen
leaflets and were wanting more information. People had
written in and said: "I have read your 'What's wrong with
McDonald's?' leaflet, and I would want more", and they were
put to one side. But those people asking specific
questions about the anti-McDonald's campaign were included
       the longer leaflet.

  Q. The fact sheet?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Sorry, the longer one is called the fact sheet.
       A. Right, yes.

  Q. You sent out some fact sheets in -- you sent out some
letters which were asking for more information where you
sent out the fact sheet; yes?
       A. My recollection is that there were some letters asking
for general information on environmental issues and the
       activities of London Greenpeace.

  Q. Right.
       A. These people were sent a range of letters, including
       the shorter leaflet.

  Q. The shorter "What's wrong with McDonald's?" leaflet?
       A. Yes. Some people were asking for further information
on McDonald's, because they had seen the leaflet, and were
sent the longer leaflet. Those who were asking specific
questions -- I do not know whether it was felt -- or they
said they had seen the fact sheet, were put to one side for
Paul to answer. There may have been questions that no one
felt they could answer in the office at that time. I do
       not recall exactly.

MR. MORRIS: So, you dealt with the first two categories,
basically, and the other matters were left to Paul Gravett?
       A. Specific inquiries about McDonald's requiring a more
in-depth answer were left to Paul.

  Q. You dealt with the other two categories, general inquiries?
       A. As far as I recall, yes.

  Q. Inquiries about McDonald's that did not need Paul Gravett?
       A. Or that did not need information that I did not know,
yes, as far as I recall.

MS. STEEL: You go on to talk about the thing about the ones
