Day 260 - 11 Jun 96 - Page 56

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You did not see the envelope or the letter
       itself?
       A. No.

MS. STEEL: This actually is not mentioned in your notes, so
this was from your memory three years later or -- well.....

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Which part is not in the notes?

MS. STEEL: There is nothing in the note about myself,
Mr. Gravett and Mr. Morris commenting on letters they had
received. All it says is, on page 1 of the notes on
2nd August, that Mr. Morris asked Mr. Bishop to answer a
letter, and ".....letters like this continuously arrive at
the office. After the letters part, the main part of the
meeting". So that is where it is dealt with there. There
is nothing in your notes about the letters part of the
meeting or about myself, Mr. Morris or Mr. Gravett being
       particularly vociferous about particular letters?
       A. By the time I mentioned the letter in my notes, I had
already referred to the fact that you were all present.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think what is being put to you.

MR. MORRIS: There may be a misunderstanding.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think what is being put to you is, were you
meaning to say in your statement that David Morris,
Paul Gravett and Helen Steel commented on letters which
they individually and personally had received since the
preceding meeting or which London Greenpeace had received?
       A. I would have to say that, probably, letters that had
       been received by London Greenpeace.

MS. STEEL: I had actually moved on from there. But the point
I am saying is that there is nothing in your notes --
I mean, you say that we are present?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Is that basically what that is based on, that because we
were present we would have been commenting on the letters?
       A. The meeting followed the usual pattern as previous
ones, which was the usual pattern.

  Q. Which was that anybody present at the meeting could comment
       on a letter?
       A. Yes.

  Q. That is what paragraph 5 of your statement is based upon
where you mention my name, Mr. Gravett's name and
       Mr. Morris's name specifically?
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: Thank you. I think we are on 9th August now.
       (Pause)

MR. MORRIS: We are just working out a question.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Keep going. 9th August.
