Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 43

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is very largely the same as the leaflet
complained of. It has got some alterations. I will
rephrase that. It is different in some respects and it has
Veggies on it rather than London Greenpeace?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: What was the -- this is important -- what was the
impression that you got from what had been --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not think that can help you.

MR. MORRIS: It is important in terms of our belief.

MR. RAMPTON: It is not a joint or collective belief. Each of
       the defendants is an individual.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The difficulty is if you are putting that
every frame of mind which was common to the witness was
common to you, I would understand that it might be, but I
had thought that that might be quite the reverse of your
       case in some respects.

MS. STEEL: Yes. The only thing it might go to is the point
where Mr. Claire said the group had nothing to back up its
        --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have got to consider what was in your mind
and I really do not think what was in Mr. Claire's mind can
really help me as to that.

MR. MORRIS: Well, in terms of Mr. Gravett's mind --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Sorry, Mr. Gravett's mind can really help me.

MR. MORRIS: But you were --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you think about it, that must be right,
because I have really got to focus on your frame of mind
and Ms. Steel's frame of mind.

MR. MORRIS: All right. But in terms of the facts, you were
aware of what was passing on between Veggies and
       McDonald's?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did you or did you not communicate that to the rest of
       London Greenpeace?
       A. Yes, that would have been communicated. Yes, it
       would.

  Q. Right. Did London Greenpeace - I think you may have
mentioned it, I am not sure - ever see copies of this?
       A. Yes, they did.

  Q. Revised?
       A. Yes, the revised, there was a copy sent to us.
Occasionally I would request copies and they would be sent
       to us.
