Day 103 - 14 Mar 95 - Page 72
morning. It will not take very long. I do not anticipate
that my cross-examination of any of the Defendants'
witnesses on this topic will take any time at all really.
I expect that we will actually finish their evidence
certainly by the middle of the week beginning the 3rd
April, thus increasing the extent of the Easter break.
Given they are not going to call Mr. Clark during that
period or apparently not, my cross-examination of him will
only be about three questions anyway. So, probably it
means, my Lord, I know I am getting a bit ahead of things,
that the 6th and 7th as well as the whole of the rest of
the next week will be free.

MR. MORRIS: Mr. Bruton will be coming hopefully on the 6th.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What you have there, if we stick to your
scheduling it may be that there will be a fair bit of loose
time over the period between Thursday 23rd and Friday the
7th; whether it is loose time in the sense that we have
some early days or whether if, for instance, any one of
your witnesses or more which are down for two days are
finished in one and you decide to draw witnesses forward or
have the next day as preparation, we can talk about. What
Mr. Rampton is saying is you are likely to have some time
in that period of two and a half weeks for future
preparation. Unless it is a matter of dire urgency we will
come back to the question of the schedule on Thursday the
23rd. In the meantime we will resume at 10.30 tomorrow
morning. We will finish Dr. Pattison tomorrow afternoon.
