     1
         MR. JUSTICE BELL: 338?
2 A. Unfortunately due to my shading you cannot read the
              headings.
     3
MR. RAMPTON: You should have a better copy. I have the same
4 ghastly thing which you have which is the result of it
having been a fax at some stage in its life?
     5 A. Yes.

6 Q. Have you a clearer one. Are the headings 'Supplier.
Paper Mill Products Used. Mill Location. Bleaching
7 Sequence. Pulping Process. AOX Test Results. EPA
              Requirement. Test Results.'
     8 A. They are.

9 Q. Just so we can get it out of the way- what are AOX test
              results?
10 A. Those are Observable Organic Alides. It is a measure
of how much organic matter is discharged into an effluent
    11 river from the mill.

    12
MISS STEEL: Can you say that again?
13 A. Observable Organic Alides. That is like all of the
chlorine compounds that would be put out. It is thought
14 to be a measure of pollutant.

15 MR. RAMPTON: Just while we are on that (and we do not want to
enter into too much of a general discussion at the moment)
16 on the whole it is thought desirable that the paper making
process produces as few of those things as possible?
    17 A. Certainly.

18 Q. Which is why they have EPA restrictions on them?
              A. That is correct.
    19
         Q. The Environmental Protection Agency is a United States
    20 Government agency?
              A. Yes, EPA though referred to in this document would be
21 State EPA because that is monitored on the state level.

22 Q. Are the various EPAs (state or federal) an arm of
              government?
23 A. They are an arm of government, yes.

24 Q. What I said that I want to try to find out is where the
paper for McDonald's ---- where the wood for McDonald's
25 paper comes from. Can I ask you this question- is this
another of your pieces of homework?
26 A. Yes, this was done by any assistant Linda Fransan.

27 Q. How is it done? Are there records of where these mills
are, or do you simply ring somebody up? What happens?
28 A. We do ring somebody up ask them where they are getting
their paper from. In this case we may have sent this
29 table to our converters, asking them to fill in all of the
              various categories here.
    30
         Q. When you say 'converter' that is somebody who makes paper
