Day 137 - 19 Jun 95 - Page 57

this, that I am viewing right now, was the system we used
through 1994. There is a brand new opinion survey process
that links up and integrates with a customer satisfaction
process that we are now putting in place in the United
States. So, I do not want to mislead anybody. This was our
survey process for as far back as I can remember, but we
are in the process of changing to a new process in 1995.

  Q. Take away that No. X and replace it with the yellow
companion No. X, please, and turn to Lyn Mead's statement
which is at tab 7? I want to ask you to look at a couple
       of documents.
       A. Yes, what number am I looking for?

  Q. It is tab 7. It is behind Lyn Mead's statement the
document is numbered H or lettered H.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is the one which has, do you remember, the
comparisons of McDonald's in this country with elsewhere.

MR. RAMPTON: Do you have it? Does it, Mr. Stein, look like
       that?
       A. No, that is not what I have.

  Q. It should be headed: "McDonald's Opinion Survey, United
       Kingdom, McCopCo".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is the last three sheets, about three
sheets before divider 8, Mr. Stein.
       A. Yes. I am now getting closer. There I am. OK.
       Sorry.

MR. RAMPTON: Just have a glance at these documents -- I will
tell you what they are -- they are the actual responses
from a total of nearly 18,000 employees?
       A. Yes.

  Q. As at June 1994?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then on the next page there is a summary of what one might
call the categories, the responses in categories, which is
in the form of a block graph?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then, finally, the last page, the responses are summarised
       in order of positive response?
       A. That is correct. I have that.

  Q. The question is this: Did Oak Brook do the same sort of
thing up until -- what you did say?
       A. Through 1994.

  Q. Through 1994?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Have you copies of any of these responses still at
       Headquarters?
       A. No, because we are now into June and this material is
only timely for a relatively short period of time. You get
