Day 173 - 16 Oct 95 - Page 26

       A. No, not in relation to the strike.

  Q. So, are you saying that the only people that visited you or
assisted you -- all right, hang on, one at a time. Are you
saying that the only people that visited you in relation to
the strike were Mr. Stein and Mr. Copeland?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What about other assistance or advice through, you know,
telephone calls or letters; or was it just those two that
       were assisting you?
       A. These were the only people who I sought advice from,
       and we got -----

  Q. Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I probably have been told and forgotten, but
       what was Mr. Copeland's position?

MS. STEEL: I was going to come on to that.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, there is a statement from Mr. Copeland in
the same bundle, curiously enough, yellow XIII.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do not turn it up.

MR. RAMPTON: I am not going to say anything. I invite your
Lordship simply to look at it, that is all. I cannot
answer for the witness, anyway, if he has an idea of what
Mr. Copeland's position was. But it is tab 40 of yellow
XIII, paragraph 1 and particularly 2 perhaps gives some
       indication.

  MR. MORRIS: Sorry, what -----

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yellow XIII.

  MR. MORRIS: Tab?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Divider 40. It is one of the extra ones at
       the back.

MR. MORRIS: We have got James Marshall there. He may have been
changed, because he was originally going to be a witness,
then he was not, and all that kind of stuff.

MR. RAMPTON: He would originally have been. He was removed
(inaudible). Now he is in XIII.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just let me read that before we go any
further. (Pause) Yes, I remember reading it now.

MR. MORRIS: Mr. Rampton was saying he does not mention Ireland
       specifically.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. That is why I had not associated with
it. But it does tell me -----

MS. STEEL: It does not actually say what year.
