Day 267 - 21 Jun 96 - Page 29

  Q. Did you usually take a notebook with you to the meetings?
       A. No, I did not.

  Q. You just happened to have one with you on this occasion?
       A. I probably did not have a notebook on that occasion,
       sir.

  Q. Then you have made a note further on the next page
"Apparently they were requested by Hackney and Islington
Animal Rights to produce more antiMcDonald's leaflets but
the printers printed London Greenpeace on it", and then
"-- they now do not want the leaflets". You managed to
get a note of all that at the time or was that your
       recollection then?
       A. I probably recalled that or gleaned it from the
meeting and made a note of that after the meeting, sir.

  Q. Well, it is carrying on from the things you managed to find
       on the desk?
       A. I probably would have, I would have made my notes in
the car following the meeting and if I had made a written
note of the number or bank account I would have then copied
       that into the book.

  Q. Then you go on: "I was told tonight that the BBC World
Service asked if London Greenpeace would partake in a live
debate with McDonald's over its views etc." Is that
       "etc."?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "Paul, from LG told them, yes. McDonald's represents told
BBC no. LG now plan to try and get on the BBC World
       Service."
       A. On its own.

  Q. "On its own. If not they will still advertise and use this
info as victory literature over McDonald's. They treat
this as a great moral victory and will not let it go/die
down." That was Mr. Gravett who was talking this, was it
not? He was the one that was talking about going on the
       radio interview?
       A. I cannot recall but it may have been, yes.

  Q. Right. Well, it says Paul from London Greenpeace told
them, yes, he would speak to them?
       A. It would appear it was Paul.

  Q. Then you have written, "Certain members in the group think
that McDonald's refusal is 'lucky' because if McDonald's
said yes they may with true facts and figures made by LG"?
       A. "True facts and figures, made LG".

  Q. "Made LG look shitty. LG admitted not having any sources
for backing up most of their points in the leaflets." Are
you seriously saying that somebody at the meeting said: "We
haven't got anything to back up this leaflet at all" or "We
have not got hardly anything to back up this leaflet at
       all"?
       A. Somebody would have said something along those lines,
       yes.
