Day 276 - 09 Jul 96 - Page 07
MS. STEEL: When was that closed then?
A. 15 years ago.

Q. So that was all the land that was owned by any Vestey
company?
A. Yes.

Q. In Brazil?
A. Yes.

Q. Right. Okay, thank you. You know Ray Chester, the
Director of World Purchasing and World Trade for the
McDonald's Corporation?
A. No, I don't.

Q. You have not met him?
A. No.

Q. When he was here he gave evidence he had prepared a map of
the location of various meat packaging plants in Brazil?
A. Yes.

Q. I cannot find the original. I do not know where it is. I
have only got a copy of, I have only got a black and white
photocopy. I do not know what has happened to the coloured
one.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is this the one?

MS. STEEL: No, no, that is not the one because it was the
original one that he did it on. This is the only one with
markings on it, but if I hand this up to the witness.

MS. STEEL: There are various blue squares on there which were
marked on the original by Ray Chester from McDonald's?
A. Right.

Q. At H12 or on the boundary of H12/13 at Santa Nadorago?
A. Right.

Q. He has marked that there is an Anglo plant there?
A. Anglo Beef, is that right?

Q. I think he said Figorifico Anglo?
A. Well, we had two plants. We had one in Barretos and
one in Goiana.

Q. Do you remember whether you had one in -- there are two
marked on there that are marked Anglo, one Santano Do
Araguaia and there is a second one at Gurupi?
A. Gurupi is the one north there, but that was a very
small plant and, I mean, I should not think it was an
export plant even, and that closed even before Gurupi
closed, even before Gerais.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When did that close?
A. I would think early 1980.

MS. STEEL: Mr Chester visited the plants in, I think he said he
made this map in 1984, so?
