         Q. But you are unaware of these kinds of thoughts or feelings
2 from crew members at McDonald's?
              A. You ask me if I was, if I had ever been approached on
3 the subject and the answer is no, I have not been
approached. I responded it would be natural for people to
4 think they should earn a little more here, there or
everywhere. Yes, probably I would start with myself.
     5
         Q. What is your labour percentage, crew labour percentage, as
6 a total of expenditure per year in this country,
              approximately for this country?
     7 A. Crew labour?

     8 Q. Percentage of expenditure?
              A. Do you want social costs in or out?
     9
         Q. Costs.
10 A. Labour percentages for country, probably about 16.
Add to that social charges of another, oh, two and a half,
11 maybe, social charges, plus holiday pay, so we are getting
up in the area of 18; about 18 per cent of turnover
12 relates to crew labour; somewhere around there.

13 Q. I have here figures for 1993. I am not sure which
document this is, but it says 15.17 per cent crew labour?
14 A. OK. Is there a line on there social cost and holiday
              pay?
    15
         Q. It says accrued holiday pay 94 per cent; that would
16 include management labour figures as well?
              A. If you let me refer to the document, I might be able
    17 to help.

18 Q. I have written all over it. We will not dispute. We are
talking about something in the nature of 16, 17 per cent?
19 A. Crew labour, plus social cost, plus holiday pay will
be about 18 across the width and breadth of the company.
20 Does that not add up?

21 Q. What are your profits for last year?
              A. What did we make last year?
    22
         Q. What percentage?
    23 A. I do not -- I do not know. I am not sure.

    24 Q. US corporation?
              A. The corporation made 5 per cent of sales, just over 5
25 per cent turnover was profit.

26 Q. That roughly would be the same for the UK company?
              A. I do not know. I do not remember the number.
    27
MR. JUSTICE BELL: By the US corporation you mean the whole
28 undertaking which would include the UK subsidiary?
              A. UK numbers would be part of that, yes, as would
29 Australia or Japan or whomever, yes.

30 MR. MORRIS: So on top of expenditure, well, the profits made,
would you say that it is fair to say the advertising
