Day 265 - 19 Jun 96 - Page 65
A. I do not recall, unless I can look at my notes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I really think we are back where we were
before we had the five minute break. When we came back you
followed my indication and you did get to challenging and I
would like you to keep on doing that because every time we
slip back into what he recalls and does not recall we get
the same answer, and there is no point in going over it
again.

MR. MORRIS: You put what you wrote down on that day because
that is what your employers wanted to hear?
A. That is not correct.

Q. That is why you put a double star against my name. "Aha! At
last we have Mr. Morris"?
A. Not at all.

Q. Well, there is no other reason for putting a double star
against my name?
A. I have a habit of marking something for future
recollection.

Q. For future recollection. So as soon as you heard me say my
name was Dave, you thought "Aha! This could be important
for future recollection"?
A. If it was the first occasion I had met you, yes. I
knew it would be important.

Q. Because you had been told that I was a key person in the
antiMcDonald's campaign and you had to find out information
about me?
A. You and others.

Q. Me and others, but you had not seen me before?
A. If that was the first occasion, yes it would.

Q. And you could not verify any of that on that page
subsequently, could you?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am sorry. I am going to ask the witness
not to answer that question because it must be about the
twelfth time, not necessarily in those terms but asking
questions of the same thing. You must move on. You are
through the meetings, putting the challenges where they
relate to the issues which I attempted to summarize just
before our break, and I am obviously particularly
interested, I am interested in your motives. I am
interested in the question of consent, but when you are
cross-examining I am particularly interested in any
references to you which you might surmise Mr. Rampton was
going to rely on as indicating directly or indirectly, your
involvement in the publication of the leaflet complained
of. So whatever else you leave on one side, you must
grapple with that.

MR. MORRIS: You do not remember if you talked to me after that
meeting, do you?
A. I do not recall, sir.
