Day 184 - 06 Nov 95 - Page 10

  Q. What does it mean, the last two lines: "Dealt with
       unfairly, crew at meetings"?
       A. He just asked if anybody felt that they were dealt
unfairly with; and then "crew at meetings", I cannot
       remember.

  Q. Then, on the right-hand side of the page at the bottom,
       there are some stars: "* talk to Cam;
        * spring; * qualification; * management." What do those
       mean?
       A. These were just notes to myself that Cam said that if
we were looking to get promoted, we should, you know, at
least let him know that we wanted to, because he would not
be able to read our minds; and that he said that there was
probably going to be some promotions in the spring; and
I wanted to talk to him about the qualifications, like what
I needed, and management is the next up from crew trainer.

  Q. Then in the bottom -----

MS. STEEL: Sorry, I am finding it quite hard to keep up. Can
       you pause for a moment?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just take a pause. Thank you. (Pause)

MR. RAMPTON: The bottom right-hand corner, we see "union" and
then "promotions" and, under that, "wage", and then some
arrows going off into the distance, as it were. Can you
tell us what that little bit means?
       A. Well, it was a little bit of a doodle, but it is -- we
were talking to him and he said that, from what he
understood, unions promote by how long you have been there
and not by your qualifications, as McDonald's promotes with
not about how long you have been there, but how good you
       are.

  Q. Then, finally, two things. There is some stuff on the top
right-hand corner which is -- is it X43 that it says?
       A. I am not sure what that is.

  Q. Then there are some words I cannot read about something --
4D, is it? Do you know what that is?
       A. I cannot remember what any of that scribble is, I am
       sorry.

  Q. It looks as though you have written -- would it be "Rob"
       and "Matt", maybe?
       A. I think that may be Marty, but I am not sure.

  Q. OK. Forget that. On the left-hand side, opposite the
names at the top, you put a star and the words "wrote
       one". What does that mean?
       A. It was, afterwards, I still have this paper, and while
Michelle and I, when we started getting together to write
those letters and particulars, just "wrote one" was the
people with the stars had written a letter; and coming to
the -- there was, you know, just by going around round
school and things, we had asked if anybody was coming
       today, so -----
