Day 154 - 13 Jul 95 - Page 42

of your statement. You say, "During the school holidays",
which implies Christmas, Easter and summer.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Which is the page again?

MS. STEEL: Page 10. It is 218 of the bundle.

THE WITNESS: Yes, I would concede it reads like that, although
I would add to that that it was the exception rather than
       the rule.

MR. MORRIS: We are very nearly finished.

(To the witness) Paul Jackson, you recall that he was
       dismissed; is that correct?
       A. I seem to remember he may have been dismissed, yes.
       I cannot recall.

  Q. You say there in your statement on page 12, point 30:
"I recall he was dismissed, and it was definitely not
because he was a trade union member or wished to form a
trade union." What was he dismissed for?
       A. I cannot remember.

MS. STEEL: The personnel audit that is behind Lyn Mead's
statement -- it should be in that volume there, I think,
       tab 7?
       A. Personnel Procedures Evaluation Report, yes.

  Q. Yes. On the fifth page of that -----
       A. With "Section 6 Legal continued" at the top?

  Q. Yes.
       A. Yes.

  Q. You said you had carried out some of these audits and you
had had them done on you?
       A. That is correct, yes.

  Q. There are 40 marks for underage employees, under school
       leaving age?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What would the 40 marks be -- well, how would a mark be
       judged?
       A. As I understood it, if you had one employee under
school leaving age, then you would give them 0 out of 40
       for that section.

  Q. So you could either get 0 or you could get 40?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You could not get anything in between?
       A. The way I used to mark it was, you got 0 out of 40.
I cannot exact guidelines. As far as I can remember, that
       would have been the instruction.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is being put is, if you had a single
underage employee working, then you would fail, as it were,
       that section?
