Day 064 - 08 Dec 94 - Page 60

customer would have it in front of them when they got the
       product, would it not?
       A. Clearly every customer does not want it. If they did
far more leaflets would go through our restaurants than
       actually do.

  Q. Yes. Well, maybe people cannot understand the leaflets?
       A. I think they are fairly clear. Certainly the text is
       very clear.

  Q. Yes, I think the text is very clear. Would you describe
       this as a propaganda leaflet?
       A. No, I would not. You have said that to me probably six
or seven times over the four days.

  Q. What about different leaflets?
       A. Yes, but you are always saying the same thing. It is
not propaganda. We are not required to put it out. We do
put it out because we think people should have that
       information if they want it.

  Q. This is the one that is most usually in the stores, is it
       not, currently?
       A. Currently, yes.

  Q. Is this the main one that definitely should not run out?
       A. I have explained to you why things run out.

  Q. I understand that, but there are many different types of
leaflets, dozens of different types leaflet in fact, on
various things, but on nutrition, when you say to a manager
"You must not run out", is this the one that the must have
       in the store?
       A. There are two green coloured leaflets. I cannot see
       which one you are holding.

  Q. This is "Nutrition - Question of Balance" we were looking
       at before.
       A. That is one of them. There is another one very similar
which should also be there in tandem with that one.

  Q. Which is called what?
       A. I am not sure.

  Q. Nutrition Information.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is it the fold-out Nutrition Information one?
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: There would be no problem, would there, with putting
       labelling on the packaging?
       A. Not a lot of problem; a bit of cost.

MR. MORRIS: We are trying to finish off as quickly as we can.
In America you do put dietary targets in your some of your
leaflets, do you not, about the national dietary maximum
targets the government has recommended for fat and salt?
       A. I am really not sure. If I knew I would tell you.
       I am really not sure.
