a process for the collection of PET and they use -- 25 per
cent of their PET bottles are, in fact, made from recycled
       PET plastic.

So, there is a whole range of activities that they have
taken that are consistent with their professed interest in
reducing, well, both waste and in my case environment/index.html">litter.

  Q. They have not, for example, set up recycling bins on street
corners which they then collect all the cans from?
       A. Well, they have in specified areas in association with
a number of local authorities, one of which I cited, but
they have not done that, if you like, universally and
generally throughout the country, to my knowledge, no.

  Q. So before you accept sponsorship from a company, do they
actually have to do anything actively before you will take
their money -- before you take their sponsorship?
       A. We have to be satisfied that they do what they can
themselves to address the problem and that they are serious
about their support for us in enabling us to address the
       problem.

  Q. So, as long as they are looking at it and making the right
noises, you would accept their sponsorship?
       A. I think that is putting a gloss on it that I would not
accept. They do not simply have to "make noises"; they
have to be seen to be willing to address the issue.

  Q. But what I am getting is that if a company, if they wanted
to, could tell you that they have produced a report and
that they are interested in this and they do care about it,
but they may not be doing anything, in reality?
       A. I am not aware of us accepting sponsorship from any
company that was not seeking to put good environment/index.html">litter management
practices into operation within its own business.

  Q. The Queen Mother's Birthday Awards are completely
unconnected to the amount of environment/index.html">litter generated by a company?
       A. Yes.

  Q. I will I do them one at a time. The Bin it for Britain
       scheme, how was that publicised?
       A. We, the Tidy Britain Group, publicises that through the
local authorities and the local media in those areas to
       which it is going.

  Q. Are there leaflets produced, for example?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The sponsors would have their names on those leaflets?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Is that the same for the Britain in Bloom?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The same for the National Spring Clean Day?
       A. Leaflets are produced for the National Spring Clean.
They are produced by the Tidy Britain Group. Advertising
