Day 154 - 13 Jul 95 - Page 48

MS. STEEL: I am not quite sure why it has vanished, actually,
but we have just the one page.

MR. RAMPTON (To the witness): This is 1st November 1987 at
Orpington, Mr. Davis. My first question is, in addition to
the payroll records, which we see and which tell us what
the number of hours worked in total were during a
fortnight, did all the stores also keep these weekly,
because this is a weekly document ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- weekly time sheets?
       A. They did, yes.

  Q. This is, I think you have already told us, the model for
the little drawing which you did going home on the train?
       A. That is right. This is probably what I should have
drawn, yes, without the names in.

  Q. This is a weekly document?
       A. That is correct, yes.

  Q. We can see that it goes from -- actually the original
headings have been scratched out -- Monday, Tuesday,
       Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did you use the same grid?
       A. We used exactly the same grid with exactly the same
       headings of the columns.

  Q. We see in this particular table the third name down is
       "Hughes", right?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The fourth name down is "Crosby"; if you look in the middle
       it says "LOA"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. They are scratched out, both of them, for the whole of that
       week?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then it says at the end, something, "back Monday", or
"back?", perhaps it is, and then "back Monday" for the
second person. Do you see that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then, as his Lordship pointed out to you earlier, a few
names down from that, I think it is seven names down from
there, there is a Kay Thorley, a four star person who,
apparently, had been scheduled but was, in fact, off sick
for the whole of that week?
       A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am sorry, it must be getting late in the
afternoon. I have gone to a list which a time record week
ending 1.11.87 which is not that one at all. It is one
which has under 18s on it, and starts in "E. Southwood".
