Day 168 - 03 Oct 95 - Page 26
Q. What was the total crew you had at the store available?
A. At the moment?

Q. Total availability, yes?
A. Around 100 or 110.

Q. 110?
A. I should imagine around 90 of them are crew members.

Q. So the total store complement of all staff?
A. Is around 110.

Q. 110, of which about 90 are crew?
A. Around, yes, around 90 are crew, yes.

Q. When you have read through the rap session notes, as you
have done, were there complaints regularly -- well,
I suppose, in the last couple of rap sessions or the last
three about the grills not working properly?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you mean the last couple or three or the
last couple or three before Mr. Logan left?

MR. MORRIS: I do not know exactly when they were fixed.

THE WITNESS: They were fixed before Mr. Logan left in November.

MR. MORRIS: Right. So the two before he left, there were
complaints at those rap sessions, were there, about -----
A. I cannot remember, I cannot recall.

Q. You cannot remember. Going on to the eight day scheduling
issue: The allegation is not that you did an eight day
schedule, you will be pleased to know, but that you did
schedule people on an eight day basis?
A. I am afraid I do not understand what you mean.

Q. Let me explain. I do not think it is necessarily a major
problem anyway, but the point is that people did not work
the same days every week?
A. That is correct.

Q. Is that correct?
A. That is correct. But there will be some people who do,
but there would just equally be some people who do not work
the same days each week.

Q. But people were scheduled on the basis of, say, for
example, six days on and two days off?
A. No.

Q. Or three days on, one day off, three days on, one day off?
A. No. When the schedule goes out, it has seven days on
it, and you are expected to place two of those days as days
off for the crew member. So, it is a five on, two off, not
a six on, two off schedule. There might be occasions when,
for instance, Mike Logan wanted to work when he was going
to Europe and such like, so he wanted to work an extra day,
but they would be shifts written on by him which he had
swapped with someone else.
