Day 128 - 24 May 95 - Page 57

That is a very recent thing. Going back to 1990 that was
       not the culture at all.

  Q. So it is something that came in in, say, 1991?
       A. Later than that; it is very recent.

  Q. 1992, 1993 or what?
       A. More like 1994.

  Q. Did the meetings discuss the change in the practice of
       "hustle"?
       A. No, again that was taken by senior management outside
       of the meeting.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You said that because you were not going to
wait for the next quarter meeting?
       A. Exactly.

MS. STEEL: I did not mean in terms of the decision to change
the definition, I mean in terms of how hustle was actually
used on the floor in the stores.
       A. I cannot recollect it being talked about at the Task
       Force.

  Q. And whether that was having any impact on safety or
       anything like that?
       A. I cannot recollect that ever being spoken about in the
       Task Force.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How long do these minutes tend to be?
       A. Four to five pages per meeting.

MS. STEEL: I am not quite sure what to do now, but I actually
think some of these documents ought to be disclosed, quite
rapidly, in order that we can actually ask Mrs. Barnes
about them. There are some other ones as well that were
       mentioned earlier on.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Deal with the other ones first, then ask the
questions you want to ask about those.

MS. STEEL: I think I have asked about them.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Remind me which ones you have in mind then?

MS. STEEL: The copy of the health and safety documents,
       Successful -----

MR. RAMPTON: That is a copied document, HMSO.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Go to HMSO.

MS. STEEL: That is all very well, but when we want to rely upon
a report, for some reason or another, we have to provide
it. They are placing quite strong reliance on it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Have you actually had to provide a copy of a
       Government publication?

MS. STEEL: I think we have, yes, I think we had to provide a
