Day 007 - 06 Jul 94 - Page 29

1 A. Yes? It is the same term in the US. It is a more
acceptable packaging industry term- "paper board".
     2
         Q. Can you get back to the yellow bundle III, and turn to tab
3 3 where we find your first statement?
              A. The fourth exhibit of that should be a table looking
4 like that. (Indicated) Mine has not got page numbers, so
I cannot be more helpful than that.
     5 A. I think it is stamped 50.

6 Q. Page 50. Here is a chart headed: "Material Discarded
into the Municipal Solid Waste S and McDonald's Packaging
7 Quantified. Total Packaging and Operating Supplies
              Purchased in 1992"?
     8 A. Correct.

9 Q. It has your initials in handwriting DJK 4/1 at the bottom?
              A. Yes.
    10
         Q. It was exhibited to your statement. Who made this table?
    11 A. I did.

12 Q. On the basis of what sort of information?
              A. On the basis of computer information on purchases
13 during the calendar year of 1992. So, what we purchased
              from manufacturers of these packages.
    14
         Q. You pull information out of your computer?
15 A. Out of the computer in our building, yes.

16 Q. You then, presumably, do some calculations, or whatever?
              A. Yes. I had to input some of the columns, but the
17 usage columns came right out of the computer.

18 Q. What do you use- a desk top publisher to make this chart?
              A. Correct.
    19
         Q. You do that yourself personally?
    20 A. I do. We have a small staff.

21 Q. Ignore the plastic based packaging for the moment. We do
not need that for this purpose.
    22

23 MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is probably obvious, but the title is
assuming, is it, that all material packaging is discarded
24 into a municipal solid waste stream?
              A. That is the assumption, Sir.
    25
MR. MORRIS: May I ask a question to clarify that?
    26

27 MR. JUSTICE BELL: You can ask a question in due course.

28 MR. MORRIS: I do not understand the title either.

29 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Because the title says ---- It really has a
double heading- Material Discarded into the Municipal
30 Solid Waste Stream, and McDonald's Packaging Quantified
Total Packaging and Operating Supplies Purchased in 1992",
