Q. So that significant proportion, is that about the average
proportion for a store or is that higher than another store
or other stores that you know of?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The significant proportion is about the
10 per cent which, presumably -- you tell me, maybe it is
wrong because there are schools everywhere -- I thought you
were attributing to Leicester being a city where there is
that lot of further education?
A. Sure, yes.

Q. It is all university now, but university and polytechnic
then?
A. Certainly, but what I am saying in terms of a
significant number of students, it continues to say "would
leave and return on a regular basis as the requirements of
their studies dictated".

MR. MORRIS: Yes, what I am saying is that that proportion,
about 10 per cent, being students?
A. Who returned -----

Q. Of part-timers, never mind, if they return or whatever,
what I am saying is that kind of proportion, that would be
about, you say, significant; is that because it is higher
than average in McDonald's in general?
A. I am talking about my own restaurant.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You must answer the question, but I would
have thought a significant proportion is just a proportion
which is worth noticing, not an insignificant part of it.
A. No, I am dealing with my restaurant.

MR. MORRIS: Is that an average proportion of part-timers for a
McDonald's store, about 10 per cent on average would be
students?
A. No, that is wrong because I am saying there that 10 per
cent were students from Leicester who would leave and
return. I am not saying they were the only students
I employed, because some students would not come back.
They would go and find other employment and they came back
during the holidays. It says: "A significant proportion",
in this case maybe seven or eight people, would actually
come back to return to work. They will not be -----

Q. So the rest would not come back?
A. Excuse me?

Q. The rest would not come back?
A. The rest would not return on a regular basis as these
seven guys did. I am sure once they completed their
studies there is no reason for them to come back, so again
we are talking about people joining in year one, staying
through to two and three. Once they have completed their
studies and moved back home, or wherever else their job
takes them, they would not return. I agree with that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: One can imagine all sorts of reasons why they
might work the autumn term because there were no exams in
