Day 274 - 04 Jul 96 - Page 27

Mr. Bishop, Mr. Claire and Michelle Hooker were considered
to be among the regulars at meetings, that all four
expressed interest in anti-McDonald's campaigning --"

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is four, is it? It is very faint in my
       copy.

MS. STEEL: Yes. Sorry, I think I need a new ribbon on my
       printer.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Then something is crossed out on purpose.

MS. STEEL: Yes, I do not know what that is.

"All four expressed interest in anti-McDonald's campaigning
and never disassociated themselves from any related
       activity."
       A. No. Yes, that is true.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: "Campaigning and", and then it stops for me.

MS. STEEL: There is a line right at the top of the following
page. It has kind of got detached from the rest of it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, I see. I remember noticing that before,
       yes. Very well.

MS. STEEL: Can I just ask you something on that. What do you
recollect about Mr. Pocklington and whether or not he had
       any interest in the campaign?
       A. Well, he certainly never disassociated himself from the
campaign. In fact, I remember within the first few weeks
of him turning up he had - I cannot remember why the
conversation started, I think it was he had a cup of coffee
with him with some milk in it, and I questioned him about
it, asked him if he was vegan or vegetarian, and he said
that he ate meat but the reason why he was coming along to
the group was his concern about fast food. So that, for
me, means that he is involved, he is expressing interest in
the anti-McDonald's campaign because we did not have any
       other fast food campaigns.

  Q. Right. Is there a reason why you remember that?
       A. I mean, not particularly, apart from that it just
seemed that most people in the group were vegetarian, if
not vegan. I mean, when he first came along he looked
quite different from other people in the group, so I did
remember a few things about him that he said. I just
remember the cup of coffee. He bought it from a take-away
thing round the corner which was quite weird because he
said he did not like fast food and yet he was buying it
       from a fast food joint.

  Q. Right. Going on to No. 10:

"Both defence witnesses will say that Michelle Hooker was
strongly involved in general activities up to May 1991, in
particular in anti-McDonald's campaigning. She was
involved with Hackney and Islington Animal Rights activity
and anti-McDonald's pickets (handing out leaflets which she
