Day 118 - 01 May 95 - Page 77
that page, the first big column?
A. Yes.

Q. Did says "Clock off. Fetch dinner, coffee cheeseburger.
No I am not allowed any real orange juice. Write what you
take on your clock card", is that correct, that?
A. I have no idea, I was not there.

Q. No, but is that a company policy that workers are not
allowed fresh orange juice as part of their meal allowance?
A. Not that I know of.

Q. Do you actually know whether or not? You just do not what
the situation is?
A. We have already spoken about this. The general rule is
take what you eat, eat what you take. Some managers may
have a ruling regarding orange juice, others may not. I do
not know.

Q. I mean at that time, for example, in the children's happy
meals children were not allowed to have fresh orange juice
as part of their -----
A. I do not know.

Q. You do not know about that either?
A. No.

Q. In the second column, under 11 p.m. it says "Seven out of
ten starters leave within a month and I am happy to be one
of them." Is that correct, that at that time in 1988
seven out of ten starters at McDonald's were leaving within
a month?
A. I would not accept that.

Q. Do you actually know whether or not it is correct?
A. I would not accept it.

Q. How are you in a position to say you do not accept that?
A. Because the turnover rate would be high.

Q. Well, not if the other three out of every ten was staying
on for two years, or something like that?
A. I would have thought that this was a matter which would
have been brought up by the crew people in their rap
sessions or their crew meetings, and I certainly have no
knowledge of it.

Q. Well, there might be a rap session within the time that an
employee was there if they left within a month?
A. No, I almost certainly would have heard about this had
it been so, from Restaurant Managers, from Field Personnel
Officers from supervisors. This would be a real
difficulty.

MR. MORRIS: Just a couple more questions on the subject of
pay. Are you aware what the average pay in industry is in
this country?
A. No.

Q. You do not know. Are you highly paid?
