Day 184 - 06 Nov 95 - Page 55
I never, you know, I never said, "This and this and this is
wrong." All I -- the biggest thing with me was the
negotiations. I never knew about that, and I did not think
any of them had heard about that, either.

Q. What I am saying is, you were one of the core group -- you
and Chris Broom and Michelle Wetli -- one of the group of
people who were identified as contacting other employees,
encouraging them to pull out from the union, to write these
kind of statements; they could pick up a John Doe form from
your house, or whatever. Having looked at just a few bits
and pieces, are you disturbed that many of the people
seemed to have been misinformed about what unions are
about?
A. I do not think they were misinformed. I think they
just did not write it the way that, you know -- they did
not use the words that they might have thought was better;
you know, instead of using could have, that we could lose
it, they just said we are going to lose it. I just think
-- I do not think they were misinformed at all by us.
I think they just did not write it down in the proper way;
and that is because me and Michelle and Chris Broom were
not there to help them out to write it. We said, "This is
totally up to you. We cannot interfere with you with this"
-- just like it was totally up to them if they wanted to
write a letter. We never said they had to.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us break there and come back in five
minutes' time.

(Short Adjournment)

MR. MORRIS: On page 11 of your statement, paragraphs 30 and
31 -- I am talking about your statement for this case.
A. Right. We had turned to the letter, so I do not know
where the paragraphs -----

Q. It probably will not be in that file. The yellow one --
yes.
A. OK. What paragraph are you looking for? I am sorry,
what paragraph am I looking for?

Q. Sorry, 30 and 31.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Page 11.
A. Thank you.

MR. MORRIS: On number 30, the first sentence talks about -- it
says: "Over the next 12 days" -- this is at the beginning
of October -- "with the help of Chris Broom's father and
other parents, in particular Mr. and Mrs. Morris, we were
given assistance as to how to go about getting intervenors'
statements."

Then, in 31: "In the meantime Chris Broom had applied for
legal aid on our behalf, which was turned down."

How did he apply for legal aid on your behalf?
A. It is -- there is a -- I am not sure what building it
is in, but I think it is the courthouse in Orangeville; you
