Day 010 - 11 Jul 94 - Page 47
1
Q. Did you have the same paragraph 3 on the first page:
2 "I find it difficult to believe"?
3 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, I have that, thank you.
4 MR. MORRIS: If we can jut have some guidance from the court?
Do we read this out may be at the end of this packaging
5 section formally?
6 MR. JUSTICE BELL: If it is being introduced now, what
I suggest is that I read it through now. Have you read
7 it?
8 MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, I have not had the opportunity of
reading it. I am sure I shall not object to it. The
9 question of whether I shall need to deal with it in due
course is another matter.
10
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.
11
MR. MORRIS: So then we come to another -----
12 A. What I would like to -- where I was going to finish
this point is with reference to another document that is
13 in the collection which is titled, the first page is:
"Consumat Systems Inc.".
14
Q. That is No. 3, Incineration and Miscellaneous. I do note
15 that for reasons best known to ourselves the letter we
read out before from the Natural Resources Defence Council
16 on the second page of that document, but that is not
really part of this. We might as well leave it there for
17 the moment.
A. This is a letter from Consumat Systems to McDonald's
18 Corporation dated December 8th 1987. It refers to a
Consumat model C75-P incinerator and the State of Illinois
19 operating permit issued for the operator of this
incinerator, and test reports associated with the
20 operation of the incinerator; and that material,
I believe, is also in the collection and it describes
21 McDonald's Woodbridge incinerator, C75-P incinerator model
in Woodbridge, the village of Woodbridge. That is after
22 the initial letter, four pages in.
23 MR. MORRIS: Which page?
A. Sorry.
24
Q. Four pages in -- what is the document?
25 A. At the top left-hand corner there is a seal of the
State of Illinois.
26
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is that the one signed by Terry Sweitzer?
27 A. No, that is a different -----
28 MR. MORRIS: The one before that.
A. No, it follows. Instead of the seal of the Illinois
29 Environmental Protection Agency, we have the seal of the
State of Illinois.
30
Q. Sorry, which document is that? What is it headed?
