Day 185 - 07 Nov 95 - Page 28

  Q. Right. They would do regular audits on the store?
       A. Yes, well, I am not sure how it works but, I mean,
I had been there for three full fields now, three or four.

MR. MORRIS: Just on that subject, Ali, the field consultant, is
he permanently assigned by McDonald's to oversee the
       restaurant?
       A. What do you mean by "oversee"?

  Q. I do not know. Can you just explain his role?
       A. Ali, he comes into the restaurant, or he used to -- he
is not there any more -- and he rates it on our -- he times
our drive-through times to see what times they are at, and
he times our service lines which are window lines. He
makes -- he used to, you know, watch how we prepared food
and he would take a part of the food to make sure that it
was, you know, safe, like, and he -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I understand all that, but what Mr. Morris is
asking is whatever he is now, was he the person who
supervised the operation of the restaurant on behalf of
McDonald's, Canada, to make sure that it was being run all
       right?
       A. He would rate it.

  Q. Do you know?
       A. I do not know. He would rate it, you know, the triple
C or triple A, but I do not know if he had any involvement
       in running it.

  Q. But he checked it out for McDonald's, is that right or not?
       A. Yes, he would come -- I am not -- I am pretty, like, it
is McDonald's, Canada, I think, that he would come down and
it is just a review of the store under cleanliness, quality
and service, and we get that. Karen Bishop came in, like,
I cannot remember when, I think October, and she did it as
       well.

MR. MORRIS: So, did they check on personnel matters as well?
       A. We have surveys that, like, McDonald's has surveys that
they give out and they are, I do not know how often they do
it, we just did one of those as well, and they -- the
survey is given to every employee with an envelope.

  Q. We know about that. Let me interrupt you. When he visited
the store, or Karen Bishop visited the store, did you get
the Manager saying to you: "Oh, so and so is coming; we
have to put on a good show", or whatever, "get everything
       sorted out"?
       A. No. They just say: "So and so is coming", you know,
and that is about it, you know, "Is there any jobs that you
guys can think of that, you know, might need to be done,
like extra cleaning jobs?" Like, I was in charge of
cleaning, so, you know, things that if we saw anything that
would need to be cleaned again or, you know, just type of
thing, we would do it, but we basically run the store like
we do every day when she comes.

  Q. Right.
