Day 134 - 13 Jun 95 - Page 63

Q. But you did not actually compile that yourself?
A. No.

Q. Page 12.
A. We participated -- we, McDonald's.

Q. But you personally did not compile that page 12 yourself?
A. No.

MS. STEEL: So, basically, if you did not compile the
information about the reasons why crew were leaving prior
to 1992, there is a basic position that the Company was not
particularly interested in why people were leaving before
that then?
A. No, that is not the case. We checked it on audits and
so on. I think the thing that may be -- if it is not rude
to say it -- you are missing is that we have not always had
the ease of computerised information that we have now.
Frankly, we do not have it in quite the ease that people
might expect as we talked about this morning with that
other document.

So, sometimes it is a feature that the information existed
but it was not so easy to generate it in a manageable
form. So, certainly people still looked at reasons for
leaving before that time, and it may be that it was
possible to pull off some crew data. What I said was we
did not have reports of that sort and I do not recollect
ever having seen any because it was not easily available
and so it was dealt with in different ways and looked at
via different methods.

Q. Mr. Nicholson said that we should ask you about how Head
Office tells which crew are part-time and which are
full-time. Perhaps you could tell us how Head Office does
tell?
A. What do you mean by that?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How does Head Office categorise people into
part-time or full-time workers? So far as we have gathered
so far, there is not any label categorisation in the sense
that someone has on their file the category "part-time" or
"full-time" unless you tell us that there is such a
thing.
A. Right.

Q. So, when you are coming to conclusions about what
percentage are part-time and what are full-time, for
instance, how do you put people in one box rather than the
other?
A. Right. We would tend to do it from the reports of
hours worked. That would be the way. When you said "Head
Office" because different people know different things, so
I am not sure what the reference was before to what
Mr. Nicholson said.

Q. No, but where do you draw the line or do you draw it in
different places for different purposes?
A. Yes, we do actually. Again some things are linked back
