Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 46
A. To that particular statement, as far as I remember,
yes. The corrections I made were the ones that appear on
that statement handwritten.

Q. But the other statements, the other two statements, did
they contain corrections or were they acceptable to you as
they were?
A. I do not recall any corrections I made on those.

Q. So, there is nothing in them by hand, because as far as you
are concerned they were accurate?
A. The particular document that was presented to me, yes.

Q. Was accurate?
A. Yes, was accurate, and I signed.

MS. STEEL: What were the instructions you were given as
regards, you know, what you were to do for this
investigation?
A. My initial instructions were to attend a meeting and
simply report on what had occurred at that meeting.

Q. That was all that was said at that time?
A. At that time, I was given no other instruction.

Q. After that meeting, what were the instructions that you
were given in relation to London Greenpeace and attending
its meetings and the fair, and so on?
A. Again, I was instructed to -- I was specifically
instructed to attend specific meetings and, in relation to
those meetings, I was asked to report on what occurred.
I became aware, I suppose, fairly early on -- I am not sure
exactly when -- that McDonald's was of key interest,
McDonald's issues were of key interest, and that is where,
I suppose, the emphasis of my investigation was then
placed.

Q. So, each meeting that you attended, it was because you had
been specifically requested to attend that meeting?
A. Yes.

Q. They did not just say to you in October 1989: "We want you
to attend as many meetings as you can over the next year,
and" -----
A. No, no. On each occasion I would return with a report
of what had happened, and if that led to some information
about another meeting coming up, then I would be told
either to attend or not to attend that particular meeting.

Q. Could I just ask you to look at the notes that you made of
the meeting on 2nd October 1989, please?
A. Which binder will I find those in?

Q. I think they are in -----
A. That one?

Q. Yes. This is the meeting of Hackney and Islington
Animal Rights.
A. Yes, I have it.
