Day 137 - 19 Jun 95 - Page 31
A. Yes, that is correct.

Q. From 1980 through, as you would say, 1993?
A. Yes.

Q. At the bottom of the table there is something which shows
"Min"?
A. Minimum wage.

Q. Is that the legal minimum?
A. That is the Federal minimum that I had spoken ------

Q. The Federal minimum?
A. That is correct.

Q. In some cases, if one looked at state legislation at any
particular time, the minimum might be higher?
A. Yes, but as I mentioned earlier, it would be a handful,
and I do not think it would be significantly higher.

Q. No, but the states cannot go below the Federal minimum?
A. That is correct.

Q. Again I need to ask you this -- tedious as it may be -- how
was this table composed?
A. This would similarly come from our computer records.
It would be a tabulation pulled off of the computers.

Q. Was that document made for this case or not?
A. No, this would be something that we historically do.

Q. Do you do it year on year, do you?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you ever drop a year? You have 1980 to 1993, will next
time be 94 back to 81?
A. You know, to be very specific, we drop maybe when it
gets too much shown on a page, you start dropping some off,
but there is not really a real specific thought process on
when we drop one off or do not drop it off.

Q. Does this include all the hourly paid people up to and
including Swing Manager?
A. Yes, it would.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is the average of the hourly paid
people, not their average starting rate?
A. That is correct. It is average. There would be people
below and there would be people above.

MR. RAMPTON: In this country, Mr. Stein, the UK subsidiary of
the Corporation sets fixed basic starting rates for
different areas of the country, across the whole country?
A. Yes.

Q. The number of people employed here is not as great as it is
in the United States, but they do it for (at the bottom)
something like 30,000 people each year. Is that the same
in the United States? Does Oak Brook set a basic starting
rate or not?
