Day 167 - 02 Oct 95 - Page 18
sorry?
A. No, the Personnel Department always taught personnel
policies and practices and procedures.

Q. So management would not be told to make sure they adhered
to the manual when they are dealing with personnel?
A. Yes. We would always teach them to adhere to the
legislation or whatever the procedure was, but the
Personnel Department would always teach the personnel
sections on the courses.

Q. I see, but you would be in charge above them, but you are
saying you would not necessarily know what was within the
course itself?
A. No. They did not report to me on that. All -- they
would liaise with the training department as to what they
were teaching on the courses, on different courses, and
what information they were giving to the students, and we
would decide whether it was an appropriate level of
information for that particular level of Manager.

Q. Right.
A. But, you know, they did not report to me. We helped
them structure their sessions sometimes.

Q. Does each store have a personnel policies and procedures
manual?
A. As far as I am aware, they do, but I could not .....

Q. So you are not sure. Do you know whether or not the
Personnel Department when they were training Managers would
refer to the personnel policies and procedures manual?
A. I am sure they probably would.

Q. Is it one of the things that Managers would be expected to
learn and adhere to?
A. Personnel practices?

Q. Not learn the whole manual off by heart but they would be
expected to read it and to adhere to it?
A. To personnel practices?

Q. To the information in the personnel policies and procedures
manual?
A. Yes.

Q. Right. Can I just ask a couple of questions about the
Advanced Operations course which you have taken? A
significant section in that course is the McPack, is that
right, which is McDonald's version of a system called
transactional analysis; is that correct?
A. Yes.

Q. Is that what we have in the video referring to the four
strokes, the warm fuzzy, the cold prickly, the luke warm
and the zilch?
A. That was part of that, yes, something to do with it.

Q. Right. That is taught on every Advanced Operations course,
is it?
