Day 195 - 04 Dec 95 - Page 74
beyond Wednesday's mid-day adjournment or much beyond it,
and if he started on Wednesday at 2 p.m. he is unlikely to
go beyond Thursday's mid-day adjournment or much beyond it.

MR. RAMPTON: He certainly would be finished sometime Thursday.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would very much like to fill an extra day,
at least this week, if it is possible to do so. Mr. Brett
is fixed for Monday and Mr. Cramer for Tuesday. They are
firm now?

MR. MORRIS: Yes, they are. If I can make a phone call to
Mr. Coton he may be able to come tomorrow at 2 o'clock.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would like you to do that. Is there anyone
who would be inconvenienced by waiting until half past 4 or
thereabouts to try to make future arrangements?

MR. MORRIS: Hopefully I can be back in five minutes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am finding how much time you have at best.
I would like you to try to contact Mr. Coton and see if he
can come at 2 p.m. tomorrow. What I would also like you to
do, although you certainly do not have to do that now, is
see who you might get for later this week. You do not have
to do it this afternoon. You have Mr. Shafibeik and
Mr. and Mrs. Harrison who were pencilled in on the
McDonald's list as hopefully this term, but are not listed
at the moment. The days you have got are, in any event,
probably part of Thursday and Friday and as to Friday 15th
of December ----

MR. MORRIS: Yes, I had the impression that 15th may be on legal
matters.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If there are legal arguments well and good,
but there may not be or there may not be argument you need
to argue now rather than next term. What I would like you
to do first of all is see if Mr. Coton can come tomorrow
morning, so you can have time talking to him and we can
start at 2 o'clock or thereabouts.

MR. MORRIS: If I go and make that phone call that might take us
a bit further forward anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do the best you can do. See if he can come
any time preferably first thing in the morning, then we can
start at 2 o'clock or thereabouts, and let us know about
that. Tell Mr. Riley when you have got an answer and I
will come back into court anyway whatever the answer is.

MR. MORRIS: If he cannot, I know his work involves interviews,
preset interviews with people ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would very much like him to come tomorrow,
but I am not saying he must come tomorrow.

MR. MORRIS: We can still use the day tomorrow, if it is felt
appropriate, for Civil Evidence notices and any other
things. Mr. Rampton says, no, but rather than lose a day
