4 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Page 140, Mr. Morris.

5 MR. RAMPTON: I am sorry. Shall I read that sentence again:
"Because the practice of chlorine bleaching in the
6 manufacturer of white paper is a significant source of
water pollution for paper mills, considerable
7 environmental benefits can result from a shift to brown
unbleached paper or paper bleached with more than nine
8 chemical processes. McDonald's is currently phasing in
recycled brown paper carry-out bags". That is what we
9 call "take-away" in this country?
              A. Yes.
    10
         Q. "Carry out bags and oxygen beached coffee filters in all
11 of its restaurants. The new wrap for the Big Mac is also
made with unbleached paper." Two questions about that.
12 First, is this a true statement of what McDonald's was
              doing at the time?
    13 A. Yes.

14 Q. Has that process continued to this day?
              A. Yes.
    15
         Q. So far as possible using unbleached unchlorinated paper?
16 A. Wherever we can, correct.

17 Q. Over the page: "As a matter of policy McDonald's will
continue to evaluate and improve the environmental aspects
18 of its packaging", has it continued to do so?
              A. Yes, it has.
    19
         Q. "... Guided by a detailed set of waste reduction packaging
20 specifications developed by the task force. The
specifications are listed in chapter 1 of the final
21 report. These specifications have been communicated to all
McDonald's nearly 600 suppliers", were they?
    22 A. Yes.

23 Q. "And will be given weight equivalent to McDonald's
existing packaging specifications for functionality, cost
    24 and availability".

25 Then the next heading: "Reuse: Behind the counter
restaurants supply operations provide the greatest near
26 term opportunities to cut waste by replacing disposable
containers or products with re-usable bulk storage
27 systems. For example, in 1991 McDonald's will test
reusable shipping containers for condiment packets, bulk
28 storage containers or cleaning supplies, durable shipping
pallets, distribution centres and reusable coffee
29 filters. For in-store customer service, McDonald's will
test pump style condiment dispensers in place of
30 individual packets, a system for filling customers'
reusable coffee cups and reusable lids for salad and
