Day 197 - 07 Dec 95 - Page 30
MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, tab 34B of volume XB, yellow XB.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you have yellow XB there? Are you going
to ask Mr. Coton about this or just draw my attention to
it?

MS. STEEL: No, I am just going to ask him a couple of
questions about it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There should be a divider 34, about a third
of the way through that.

MS. STEEL: Have you got it?
A. I have Frank Stanton on 34.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: 34B.

THE WITNESS: Yes, I have it.

MS. STEEL: Just one thing as a kind of preliminary matter.
No. 3 it says that Tracey Milleine left McDonald's with
Simon Gibney to move back to Colchester. Then she
rejoined in June 1990. Did she ever speak to you about
that and, if she did, can you explain what -----
A. It was -- she actually rejoined the Company at the
instigation of myself and Adrian Brett. I was aware of
the reasons that she left through Simon Gibney because she
was dissatisfied with the way they were treated when they
went to Milton Keynes. I had always found her a hard
working person and also got on with her on the social
side, so when she came back to Colchester and we got to
talking, we actually convinced her to come back and join
us again.

Q. Just going down to paragraph 8, this is about docking crew
hours, I do not know whether you are immediately familiar
with that, whether you remember what was said, but if you
just want to scan through it again and then explain what
you say was happening at that time.
A. Right. This relates to an incident that happened
after a change in Supervisor when certain practices, i.e.
docking of hours, we were told in no uncertain terms they
were to stop.

Q. What was the change of Supervisor?
A. Neil Skehel.

Q. From Mark Davis?
A. From Mark Davis. He made it totally clear to me that,
although he expected the same achievements, it had to be
done without any underhand methods. So it was all put
across to all management team that these practices had to
stop and there would be no docking of hours.

Q. Did you instruct your Managers that or did you just let
them carry on the way they ----
A. They were instructed to stop by me and Mr. Scale.

Q. So as soon as you received that instruction did you pass
it on straightaway?
