Day 208 - 24 Jan 96 - Page 51

  Q. -- eight hours on four days a week?
       A. One shift of nine hours on Saturday.

  Q. And then a nine?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So it is 41 hours a week?

MR. MORRIS: So it is 41 hours a week you get paid for, is it?
       A. No.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, 41 hours less ---

MR. MORRIS: How many of those do you get paid for?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- 225 minutes, three and three-quarter hours
       breaks?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: So you work -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So it is 37 quarter hours you get paid for?
       A. Yes.

  Q. For my own information -- I am sure someone else would have
asked anyway -- after your deductions, what do you have in
       your pay packet every fortnight?
       A. Round about 290, say about 280, 290 and then if I work
an extra half hour or so, but say 280 to £290.

  Q. So you earn 140 to £145 a week, do you?
       A. Yes.

  Q. How many weeks holiday do you take in a year?
       A. I take about five, four to five.

  Q. Weeks?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Does that include public holidays?
       A. No, I usually -- I work public holidays.

  Q. You work public holidays?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you get paid any extra on public holidays or an extra
day for day or anything like that?
       A. We get paid time and a half for Bank Holiday.

  Q. Yes. What, if any, holiday pay do you get?
       A. I am not sure how it works out exactly. Every
fortnight I get about, round about £30 put on as holiday
pay, so every fortnight I have, sort of, earned £30 towards
my holiday pay, if you understand what I mean? Every pay,
every pay period that comes we have a list saying how much
you have earned and how much holiday pay you have actually
earned during that period. So when you talk a holiday, you
can claim that holiday money. It usually works out that
I work on average about £30 per fortnight towards my
       holiday.
