Day 263 - 14 Jun 96 - Page 61

  Q. Because you actually signed the statement today confirming
       that that was correct?
       A. Yes, I have done that.

  Q. So, Mr. Bishop may be quite right and you may have attended
a meeting which he was at?
       A. I did not attend any meetings Mr. Bishop was at.

  Q. How can you say that?
       A. Because I know Mr. Bishop by sight.

  Q. You know Mr. Bishop?
       A. By sight, yes.

  Q. How long have you known Mr. Bishop?
       A. I knew him as someone who appeared in the office when
I did in 1990 from time to time. I would recognise him.
I do not know him well, but I certainly did not attend any
meetings that he did or this meeting I attended he was not
at, and, as I have said to you, I did not attend any other
       meetings anyway.

  Q. If you knew him from 1993 it is quite possible that the
first time you met him was at a London Greenpeace meeting
       in 1990 and neither of you knew each other at that time;
       yes?
       A. Well, I attended one meeting, I am sure. I do not
think Mr. Bishop was at that meeting.

  Q. But you may have attended other meetings and it may be that
       Mr. Bishop was at those?
       A. No. I must say again, I did not attend other meetings,
       any other meetings.

  Q. So, you are changing your mind?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is dissolving into an argument now, I am
afraid. You ask your questions and rely on your material
in due course, but I think we are just going backwards and
       forwards now.

MS. STEEL: I was going to ask a question about your -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If there was a specific other meeting which
you have in mind, put it.

MS. STEEL: I do not know the date of it, but I am just taking
it from what Mr. Bishop said. (To the witness): Your
       statement, paragraph 10, please.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The first statement.

  MS. STEEL: The first statement.
       A. Yes.

  Q. Originally, the statement says, "After the meeting I made a
contemporaneous note of the events that had taken place at
the meeting which is annexed to the statement marked
'JR3'." Why is that crossed out?
