Day 166 - 28 Sep 95 - Page 23

       A. Yes.

  Q. Would you accept that, in fact, Mr. Magill was working
until 4.00 in the afternoon ---
       A. I do not see the relevance.

  Q. -- or that he may have been and that your recollection is
at this distance of time somewhat hazy?
       A. No.

  Q. Who would have done the training of crew at the store?
       A. What, the paperwork side or the on the floor? Which do
       you mean?

  Q. You said in your statement: "All crew members joining the
       restaurant received training"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "This included the showing of training videos. All crew
also received 'on the job' training from experienced crew
members in the training squad". The final part explains
who is doing that part of the training. The rest of the
training that you talk about, who carried that out?
       A. Managers.

  Q. Managers, but, I mean, would it have been you who did it or
       the floor managers or?
       A. At times myself included. I think his own statement
       refers to that.

  Q. Would it mostly have been the managers in positions below
       you?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you know whether you personally trained Mr. Magill?
       A. I would expect so in terms of having a till problem,
corrective coaching him, helping him, backing him up.

  Q. You gave him some training but you did not carry out this
formal initial training -- you personally?
       A. He never attended any, according to his own statement.

  Q. OK.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You accept, do you, that he did not attend
       any initial training?
       A. That he did not do it?

  Q. Yes.
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: The performance review that you say takes place at
the end of the probationary period, would crew
automatically get a yellow badge or do they have to pass it
before they get a yellow badge? Is there something they
pass or is it like an automatic thing, as soon as their
three weeks are up, they should get their yellow badge?
       A. Right, as soon as the three weeks -- during the three
week period there is a time to consider whether that person
is going to pass the probation or fail the probation. So
