Day 046 - 04 Nov 94 - Page 73

       are the exact numbers.

MR. MORRIS: That is not my understanding of those figures,
I must say. It looks like the average number of visits is
       23.9 for 14 to 17 year-olds.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. I think Mr. Rampton was taking 0 to 17.

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You cannot just add up 17.6, 16.4 and 23.9
       and divide by three.

THE WITNESS: You would have to -- you would add up the visits
column for those three groups and the population column.

MR. RAMPTON: I divided the total of each column-----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Morris is-----

MR. RAMPTON: He has accepted it. Which means that if for that
age group, 0 to 17, which includes tweens and teenagers?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Again, you correct me if my maths is wrong. For that age
group, the American population is visiting McDonald's,
roughly speaking, on average about once every three weeks?
       A. Yes.

  Q. When you divide 52----
       A. 52 by that number; that is correct.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, those are all the questions that I have
       of Mr. Green.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Have you had a McDonald's meal while you have
been in London, or have you stayed with the white table
       cloth, Mr. Green?
       A. I am afraid that I have dealt a lot with hotel food,
but I did make a visit to a McDonald's restaurant, as well.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

THE WITNESS: Thank you for your efforts, sir.

                        (The witness withdrew)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will resume on Monday morning. What is
       your intention?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I propose to call Mr. Miles on Monday, to
       be followed by Mr. Hawkes.

The only thing I would like to mention now is that, either
later next week or the week after, Miss Dibb will be giving
evidence. She has written a pamphlet, paper -- call it
what you like -- which the Defendants have disclosed as
part of their supplementary, or it might even be original
discovery, which is called: "Children, Advertisers' Dream,
       Nutritional Nightmare?"
