of awareness, as far as those people are concerned, that
how painful it could be if it is dropped in front of your
doorsteps.

Q. Do you see a need for educating young English people about
the relationship between environment/index.html">litter and the environment?
A. I think it depends on what area because, if you look at
the West End, then there are lots and lots of tourists who
come and visit, so (although I might sound a little
biased), I do not know, just because it is not their own
country, maybe they do not care that much, but the further
you move out of the West End into the residential area, you
will see that people do look after their areas.

Q. So you are saying, in effect, that it is not fair of me to
try to put the point the finger at the English; it may well
be the principal origin of the problem is tourism?
A. Sure, because I think, as far as the environment is
concerned or environment/index.html">litter is concerned, in English schools and
colleges, specially children-wise, they have been made
aware because two of my young ones, they go to school and
they do come home and talk about all these problems and ask
questions.

Q. Do you yourself, as licensee of the Barnet restaurant, do
anything for the young people in your area?
A. Although there is no project in hand as such, but there
is a different one which we are hoping to start. If I get
time today, I am supposed to contact the EHO. It is
related to the hygiene. We are going to run a project and
I will be, hopefully, leading that project to make the
school children aware of hygiene regulations and also the
local restaurants.

Q. Have you had any association with any of your local schools
in Barnet?
A. Yes, certainly. I have a very good relationship with
Underhill School. I have donated last year £3,000 to
develop their waste land into an environment education
area. It is to have a rabbit run, to have plants to
attract butterflies, also to have a fish pond, to have
different kind of fish. For young ones it is educational.
Also, the mature children school, I donated £1,000.

Q. What is that for?
A. That is to build a walk around their playground and
also for the seating area. So, with schools, then there
are Ravenscroft School, I did donate £200. They wanted to
have a green show to raise some funds. And also there are
other areas which include different clubs which I sponsor.

Q. Just to complete the picture, are you the chairman of the
Barnet Traders' Association?
A. Yes, I am the chairman of High Barnet Traders'
Association.

Q. High Barnet Traders' Association. Are you trustee of the
Mayor of Barnet's Charities?
A. Yes, sir. I, myself, the Deputy Mayor and the Mayor,
and there is another person planned, who are the trustees
