Day 188 - 15 Nov 95 - Page 12
question, which is in these notes.

Q. Just a couple of examples.
A. So that was one example. There is another example
where, on one of the days we were filming, a new employee
had just started that day; so, when he had finished his
shift, we just thought we would go over and ask him what
his experience was, "What was it like, you know, your first
day at McDonald's"; and we thought it would just be a very
lighthearted thing. One of the managers alerted Corinne to
the fact that we were going to talk to a crew member, and
it was rushed over and that was stopped.

Q. What do you mean "it was rushed over"?
A. Corinne ran over or rushed over to see what we were
doing and stopped the filming, so we were not allowed to
just talk to him about what it was like to do his first day
at McDonald's.

At the university sessions, one of the store managers said
something -- I mean, you know, not devastatingly critical
that I can remember, but was vaguely critical of the
course; and Bill Tindale said that we could not use that
question in our filming.

So there was constant monitoring of what we were filming
all the time.

Q. Right. All these examples appear in your notes, do they?
A. Yes.

Q. When you wrote your statement, did you -- how did you write
your statement?
A. I wrote my statement basically going through these
notes that are here and kind of, you know, just really
trying to work out whether I could remember clearly what
were in my notes and whether I could remember those
instances.

Q. Right. Now, was there any other aspect of the filming
which you felt did or did not give an accurate picture of
McDonald's?
A. I think, on the whole, the film gives an accurate
representation of what it is like to be in a store.
I mean, I think that there were areas -- extra staff were
brought into the Strand store to make sure that everything
went smoothly. So they probably had more staff on in the
days they we were filming than they would have had
normally. I think, you know, there is a couple of
instances in this -----

Q. Sorry -- how do you know that?
A. Because they would tell us, so that -----

Q. Who, the managers or the crew?
A. The managers would tell us. I mean, I think Almaz
herself said something about "to make sure that the food
would not run short". It is on page 16.

Q. Of your notes?
