Day 085 - 08 Feb 95 - Page 41
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us have a look at that. Can you give me
the volume reference?

MS. STEEL: It is yellow VII.

MR. MORRIS: It is yellow VIII, Food Poisoning.

THE WITNESS: Any particular page?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Which part of this?

MR. MORRIS: We are on page 11.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Where are the grill temperatures?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, with respect, in relation to your
Lordship's earlier ruling to that there is a difference
between drawing your Lordship's attention to a passage in a
document in order to answer questions which your Lordship
was putting to Ms. Steel and involving the witness.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The witness is not involved at all. I am
just talking to Ms. Steel.

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, he sought to intervene which is why I
stood up.

THE WITNESS: I apologise.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, just sit down for a moment.

THE WITNESS: Is it possible to take a short break?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, come back as soon as you are ready.
Where do I find anything which helps me? I am not
suggesting it is not there. I just want to know about
grill plate temperatures.

MR. MORRIS: It is page 11 -- it is about the internal
temperature of the patties.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I understand that. If we were looking at a
sheet of paper which had internal temperatures of patties
on it and testing those, I would not have asked the
question in the way I did if, indeed, I would have asked a
question at all. But we are on grill area temperature,
plate temperatures, at the moment.

MR. MORRIS: That has to relate to the final temperature of the
patty.

MS. STEEL: To be honest, I feel this is a bit unfair because
the Plaintiffs have put in a document ---

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just answer the question first.

MS. STEEL: -- and if we are not allowed to ask questions to
understand it, then it -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I understand that, but I am not entirely
