Day 265 - 19 Jun 96 - Page 35

indirectly, are based on your notes?
       A. To a large part, and my recollection.

  Q. Yes. Looking at this page which is dated the 18th January,
1990, this is also apparently at 5 Caledonian Road. You
       see the third line?
       A. That is correct, yes.

  Q. When you put a time like 22.23, probably that is?
       A. 25.

  Q. At the top, is that the time of the meeting or the time of
       the notes, or what?
       A. I recall that would probably be the time I had made
       the notes, following the meeting.

  Q. And it said that "not many attended this meeting although
there were some familiar faces. Andrew was present in the
       beginning." 'A,' something I cannot...
       A. "A guy turned up".

  Q. "A guy", sorry, turned up later from Leeds", and then Paul
is there and you say next page for "ex-refs." We will
come to that in a moment. Then there is a report of what
Paul was saying in relation to antiMcDonald's leaflets, and
so on. Just run your eye over that (pause) I am not going
to ask you about it, accept for one thing. Tell me when
you have finished reading that paragraph. It is quite hard
       I know to read.
       A. Yes.

  Q. It says at the end of that paragraph, the last sentence,
talking about Paul: "Main activist and antiMac." Yes?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Is that what he said to you or was that your impression?
If you don't remember do not say.
       A. It would definitely have been my impression. As to
whether he particularly said it on that occasion I cannot
       accurately recall.

  Q. And then I do want to ask you about the next bit, which I
will read out. If I get your handwriting wrong, please
tell me. "Girl by the name of 'Ellen'. And then you put an
       oblique.
       A. I had heard the name and at that stage it was either
       Ellen or Helen.

  Q. Yes, and then you put "see next page". "Also arrived".
"She seemed to take control. She also wrote the minutes
and the agenda. She ran the meeting. She seemed to know
about..." and then go over two pages, "a lot about the
group and most campaigns. She has also..."?
       A. "She has a lot" , that is.

  Q. "... has a lot of knowledge on all McDonald's activities".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, I go from page with a 7 in the top
right-hand corner, numbered 60, to a page with an 8 in the
top left-hand corner which I have numbered 61.
