       A. They have drinking equipments. It is a container and
it is hanging from the roof.

  Q. Right, is it kind of bell shaped?
       A. It is round, yes, it is almost like a bell, yes, and it
is placed at different heights as close to the beak as
possible so the chicks do not have a chance to get into the
       water or spill water.

  Q. How many of those drinkers would there be in each shed?
       A. I have not counted them, but there is one -- I have
seen one every 10 or 15 feet on each side. There are two
sides going through the middle. But, usually, they just,
chicks like to stay together in one small area, so they
would probably be using two or three drinkers.

  Q. How is the feed delivered to the chickens?
       A. By, it is a little, we call it probably "a canal" that
has a screw worm that moves the feet throughout the -----

  Q. Like a conveyor belt?
       A. It is a conveyor, yes, a screw conveyor.

  Q. That runs right the way round the shed or what?
       A. It runs along the broiler house, and usually there are
       two.

  Q. One up either side?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Does it sometimes happen that chickens get caught in the
       conveyor belt?
       A. No. I have not seen it.

  Q. You have not seen it?
       A. No.

  Q. Right, but you could not say it does not happen ever?
       A. No, it could happen, yes.

  Q. How many broiler units have you visited?
       A. Probably close to 100.

  Q. How long did you stay at them?
       A. Stay? It depends. I can give you 100 different
       answers.

  Q. Are you talking about, sort of, an inspection or -----
       A. No, every time, it depends what I am doing, it depends
what I am looking. There are times when I can go back in
1979 when I started doing research on chickens, I stayed
there a long time. There are times where I only go looking
for a specific information, what I want to know, I might
       stay only five minutes.

  Q. What is the level of lighting in the broiler sheds?
       A. It changes throughout the day. It changes throughout
the season. Usually, we like to keep it well-lighted,
       around 40, 50 lux.
