Day 137 - 19 Jun 95 - Page 44

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is the last one before you come to F.

MR. MORRIS: Has it got "P-Y-R-L-L" at the top?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. It is one of those green stripy ones, or
they would have been green, with readings across the page.
It is the last one before the first memo to Debbie Macina.

MR. MORRIS: I have will to check I have got it. Unless there
is a spare copy around, we both have not got it. (Handed).

MR. RAMPTON: Mr. Stein, this document records the number of
people actually on the payroll at the end of a particular
       quarter?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. It also records the number of people that have left?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Without recording whether they return or not?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. But have left during the course of that year?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Do you operate a similar system in the United States?
       A. It is the same system.

  Q. The same system. Could you now turn backwards to that
little sheet of paper, to the sheet which is number 2? It
may not be numbered but it is the second sheet in that
       appendix E.

MR. MORRIS: I am just trying to find this document as well.

MR. RAMPTON: It is headed: "Current Employees by average of
       weekly hours for the Company".

MR. MORRIS: Is it not a Mr. Nicholson document. I am trying to
find if we have that package of documents. We have not had
time to put them in order.

MR. RAMPTON: This document, Mr. Stein, is headed: "Current
Employees by Average Weekly Hours for the Company", is it?
       A. Yes, it is.

  Q. What this tells us is both the numbers and the percentages
of employees, hourly paid employees, that work for given
periods; you see it is 0, 1 to 10, 11 to 20 hours and so on
       so forth?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Is that kind of information available to you under your
       systems in the United States?
       A. No, it is not.

  Q. It is not?
       A. No. The English company obviously has more capacity
than we have in this area.
