Day 188 - 15 Nov 95 - Page 52
A. I think, you know, one would need to look at the film
and go through it. I am not quite sure what you mean by
that question, actually.

Q. Then, I quite agree. I am not going to ask you to look at
it. Ignore the question.
A. Yes.

Q. Were you disappointed with the final product when it was
made?
A. I thought there were a couple of incidents that we had
on film that would have been better to have put in the
film, but I thought it was a fairly accurate representation
of the filming that we did.

Q. You will be pleased to hear that, by and large, McDonald's
agree with you -- and did at the time, as I understand what
you have just told us.
A. As far as I know, yes.

Q. My question was meant rather differently. Were you not
rather frustrated that it was not a hatchet job?
A. No. I would not say I was frustrated at that at all.

MR. RAMPTON: Thank you.

Re-examined by the Defendants

MR. MORRIS: Just a couple of questions. Would a professional
researcher such as yourself invent lies in order to justify
their own personal opinions when working?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have to make my mind up about that. Asking
the witness does not help you.

MR. MORRIS: OK. Did you invent anything in your statement or
notes to give a false impression of what was happening?
A. Absolutely not. I would stand by those and say it is a
true and accurate impression of everything I saw in the
stores.

Q. Paul Hickling -- you said you got some idea from
Paul Hickling about Russia and the Third World; yes? He
was actually interviewed in the film about that, was he
not? Do you remember?
A. I know he was interviewed in the film. What he was
actually interviewed about, I cannot -----

Q. He said something about "We can teach the Third World how
to produce food more efficiently"?
A. Yes.

Q. How to feed themselves?
A. Yes.

Q. That was Paul Hickling; do you remember?
A. That was Paul Hickling, yes, I remember that. I think
we probably asked him that question precisely because of
the conversations we had had with him about it, and we knew
that he felt that way about the Third World.
