Day 015 - 21 Jul 94 - Page 41
1 A. Yes.
2 Q. So side salad again, that is not even a standard item yet;
regular fries, we do not know whether it is new oil or the
3 beef oil that used to be fried in; orange juice is a
recent addition somewhere around 1989, it is thought? So,
4 on top of that, the lard in the buns has changed recently,
has it not?
5 A. Yes, it has.
6 Q. Used for the sandwiches?
A. Yes.
7
Q. The fat being reduced 40 per cent, something like that? I
8 do not know the exact details.
A. There was a reduction in the total amount of lard.
9 There was also a switch to vegetable oil.

but I could not tell you when the change was introduced.
23
MR. JUSTICE BELL: "Regular" has always been bottom so far as
24 size of portion is concerned?
A. I believe so.
25
MR. MORRIS: Do you know when the sodium in the pickles was
26 reduced in the United Kingdom? I believe it was 1987 in
the USA. Any idea? I do not know if it is actually on
27 your list. It says 1984 reduced sodium in pickles -- no,
in Europe reduced about 25 per cent in 1987?
28 A. Yes.
29 Q. So that it is about the same year it was reduced in 1987.
A. Yes.
30
Q. Diet coke, I do not know when that was introduced as
