Day 018 - 26 Jul 94 - Page 67
1 not -- addendum 2 to Dr. Gregory's report, tab 9 of the
yellow file.
2 A. I am afraid that addendum is missing from my file
unless it is out of order. (Handed)
3
Q. Do not worry about it.
4 A. It is out of order. I do have it. It precedes the
Leg Weakness Pathologies which is the last part.
5
Q. That is right.
6 A. I beg your pardon.
7 Q. The handwritten notes are the basis of what you state in
the addendum; is that right?
8 A. I understand.
9 Q. Is that right?
A. Yes.
10
Q. What you say is this -- can you remember the date when
11 this work was done?
A. It was -- when I visited the unit in April 1993,
12 I brought some birds back with us and Steve Cestin, one of
my colleagues, went through them looking at the pathology
13 in the laboratory shortly after that date.
14 Q. Your conclusion is this: "The leg pathology of 25 birds
from Sun Valley sampled at random has been examined at
15 Langford", that is part of your research unit, is it?
A. Yes.
16
Q. "The prevalence of abnormalities was 44 per cent. The
17 severity of the conditions and the overall prevalence was
mild in comparison with our experience with other
18 flocks". Dr. Gregory, what sort of experience have you
and your unit got of other flocks?
19 A. Wow!
20 Q. Wow, yes, but just tell us?
A. I would not like to say how many hundreds of birds
21 have been examined. It is hundreds of birds.
22 Q. I am only asking really whether there is a sufficient
factual basis for the judgment that the abnormalities or
23 the incidence of abnormality in this flock was mild by
comparison with others?
24 A. In my opinion, after having consulted with Mr. Cestin,
I would say there is enough data base there to make that
25 comparison.
26 Q. That is what I was really asking. Finally this, can you
turn back -- I do not know whether it is back or forwards;
27 because, I am sorry, your file seems to be in a muddle --
to the first addendum which is the one which deals with
28 the report on the captive bolt pistols?
A. Yes.
29
Q. Is it in your case in front of the report?
30 A. Yes.
