Day 030 - 03 Oct 94 - Page 79
so forth, but to start clean on Wednesday with a full set
of all the references of Professor Crawford, and hope that
his examination-in-chief finish on Wednesday and we should
find a date convenient to him and to your Lordship when he
could come back to be cross-examined at an interval
sufficient to allow me to consult my experts.

MS. STEEL: There is one other thing that might be helpful for
Mr. Rampton, which is that four of the references that
Mr. Crawford has referred to are actually in the
scientific references of Mr. Arnott.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I think you should do this evening is
make a list of all the references you want to refer
Professor Crawford to and communicate that to Barlows
first thing in the morning. If as you read out what the
reference is you know that it is in the bundle somewhere,
say that.

MS. STEEL: There is a list within his statement of all the
references that he has mentioned. There are two pages.
There is one point where he mentions the fat content of
wild animals versus domestic animals. There is a whole
load of papers that he himself has written. Is it
actually necessary to get a copy of every single one?
There was one, I did enclose one thing on that subject
with the statement when I handed it to the Plaintiffs on
Friday.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is very difficult for me to say without
having read it. Do you know what you actually do want,
Mr. Rampton?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, yes, I think I do. I agree, as I said
earlier, 23, I earlier said 22, 23 references of which I
did recognise some four or five all or most of the Willett
papers; the paper by Greenwald; the paper by Heriama on
page 1, which makes six that I recognise. The Ready
papers I am not sure about. I rather think those are ones
we may not have, but I am not sure about that. The rest
I have not seen, particularly those by Professor Crawford
himself. It appears that the surveys by Doyle and others,
including Professor Crawford, may also be important
documents.

MS. STEEL: One of those has been served.

MR. RAMPTON: It may be so.

MS. STEEL: The school children one.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: There is a limit how much I can voice
anything useful on this.

MR. RAMPTON: I agree.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How many copies do you have of these
references?

MS. STEEL: On some we have not got any. As I say, we got
