MR. MORRIS: OK. (To the witness): Is each store owned by a
       separate company?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What is Mr. Antolinos' role in these companies -- was?
       A. He was the owner.

  Q. Of all the companies?
       A. Of all the companies in Lyon.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

MR. MORRIS: When did Mr. Antolinos give up his ownership of the
       Lyon restaurants?
       A. 1st January, 1994.

  Q. When did he become director of McDonald's France?
       A. 1st January, 1994.

  Q. If I can go back to the statement?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Paragraph 7.

MR. MORRIS: Paragraph 7: "A Supervisor called me to a meeting
in his office and told me to stop circulating the petition
or I would be sacked. My reaction was that I had nothing
to lose and that I had to take action during my period of
employment. I then decided to set up a section of the
CFDT" -- union -- "at the company and in doing so received
       great support by the employees."

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can I know what CFDT stands for? I had
assumed it is a union, but just a little more about it.

MR. MORRIS: Can you explain what the CFDT means?
       A. CFDT is a union representing workers all over France
from all trades, for the defence -- in the defence of their
       rights.

  Q. It does come up later, but what is his current position in
       the CFDT?
       A. He was designated -- I was designated in 1992 as the
representative for -- the union representative for
       McDonald's Lyon.

  Q. Are you still in that position?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Can you clarify what you mean about that if you did not
stop circulating the petition you would be sacked; what
does he mean by being "sacked"?
       A. At that time, I was circulating a petition to address
the problems within the restaurant. The Supervisor of the
restaurant learned about this petition concerning these
problems. He called me into his office and he told
me: "I have learned that you were circulating a petition.
I would ask you now to stop circulating this petition or
I will throw you out", and that the workers, if the
employees were not happy they should just leave.
