Day 074 - 16 Jan 95 - Page 30
MR. JUSTICE BELL: There is some documentation with regard to
the candle lit supper?
A. Yes.

Q. And some in relation to the licensing application.

MS. STEEL: Can you find the Smith Street Residents
Association, it is headed note paper and it is: "Join us
for dinner at McDonald's", please?
A. Yes.

Q. Can you just explain how this dinner party came about? You
did start to explain.
A. Basically, we had a meeting. The reason I wanted to
have a dinner party is so I could invite the people and
just open the communication channels.

Q. So it was your proposal and then Linda Wells drew up this
invitation and delivered it round to the residents; is that
right?
A. This was, I believe, to be a covering letter for my
invitation which was on an invitation card.

Q. Is there a copy of that invitation card in with these
documents?
A. No, there is not but I might have it at home --
I should have it.

Q. According to the second paragraph of this, after the
October Smith Street Residents Association, the Secretary
wrote to you, yourself, to tell you about the increasing
amount of street environment/index.html">litter. He called the Secretary the next
day and said that a new environment/index.html">litter bin would be placed at the
corner, etc., and that you would contact the Council for
permission to sponsor more environment/index.html">litter bins and you would
increase the frequency of the environment/index.html">litter patrol.

You do not still have a copy of the letter from the
Residents Association, do you, complaining about the
increasing amount of street environment/index.html">litter?
A. Which letter are you referring to?

Q. The one that is referred in the second paragraph.
A. Yes, I am looking at it -- the original?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It says the Secretary wrote to you.
Ms. Steel is asking you whether you still have a copy of
the letter which was written to you?
A. No, I do not.

MS. STEEL: What did you do with the letter?
A. I do not know whether it was a letter or a telephone
call, because what I remember is talking to her over the
telephone. I contacted her over the telephone. So, that
telephone number must have come from the letter. And once
you answer the complaint basically, that goes into the file
and then after a year I think basically people, they just
destroy .....

Q. Why were these other documents saved then?
