Day 306 - 26 Nov 96 - Page 27
it because he realised he was not going to get anywhere,
because I was telling the truth.

The other thing, the other part, I have tried to find out
the bits of my evidence where this demonstration was
referred to.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: The other part-----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think I have a note of them. If you give
them to me I will make sure I have not missed something.

MS. STEEL: The other part was day 276. There was a bit where
I was referring to the photographs of the demonstration and
the fact that you can see in some photographs that the
leaflets that people are holding are the A5, or the short
version of the leaflet, any one of the A5 versions, bearing
in mind there were lots done by different groups, but
rather you can see that they are not the fact sheet. I
mean, I accept that there are some where you just cannot
tell at all what the leaflet is but there are certainly
ones where you can tell that they are not the fact sheet,
and I do not think and my evidence was that I could not see
any leaflets which you could distinguish as definitely
being the fact sheet. Obviously, that would be the fact
sheet of either version, either the Veggies one or the
London Greenpeace. You could not actually clearly see
either of those in the photographs.

That was on day 276, pages 17 to 21. Then the other part
was on day 277, when I was being cross-examined by
Mr. Rampton and he was asking me about the Veggies fact
sheet being handed out on 16th October 1988, and I said
that it was quite possible that somebody could have brought
that version to the picket, a few copies of that to hand
out in case somebody asked for more information, which
would be available in the more detailed, lengthy version.

MR JUSTICE BELL: There was actually no -- was there any
positive evidence from anyone that anyone did bring Veggies
fact sheet to the meeting? I know there were lots of
suggestions it might be this, it might be that.

MS. STEEL: Yes, well -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If -- and I stress 'if' -- I were to accept
Mr. Nicholson's evidence that you and another woman were by
a holdall which had a pile of leaflets on or near it, I did
not actually hear any evidence from any of your witnesses,
did I, as to there being any such pile and what the
leaflets were?

MS. STEEL: No, you heard evidence from Mr. Gravett that he
brought the leaflets to the picket, and he only brought A5
leaflets. He did not bring any fact sheets, be they London
Greenpeace ones or Veggies ones.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.
