Day 078 - 26 Jan 95 - Page 65

MR. MORRIS: I was hoping that the witness would know of the
Raiffeisen Plant. So, the situation in Germany is that
Sudfleisch supplies L&O Flaschfahren who supply McDonald's
       Germany; is that correct?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, he has already said he has not heard of
       it.

MR. MORRIS: He did not say about Flaschfahren which is a well-
       known McDonald's -----
       A. Can I answer that in this way: Sudfleisch is a very
large meat company in southern Germany in Bavaria with
abattoirs and boning rooms, and I am sure that it would be
a supplier to L&O Gunnesberg at the McDonald's factory.

  Q. I think we have already heard, anyway, that L&O supplies
       McDonald's?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you happen to know of any reason why soya feed may be or
soya meal feed may be popular, say, in southern Germany but
not popular in some other countries? Is there any reason
for differences between countries is or it purely economic
       or what?
       A. I honestly cannot give you an opinion on that.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, again I do protest. Mr. Morris has made
assertion about the effect of Professor Dr. Schum's
statement, both his statements, which simply is not to be
found there. It is not a complex or difficult statement to
       understand.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Presumably -- is Professor Schum being
       called?

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Maybe we will wait until we ask Professor Schum.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think that is probably right.

MR. MORRIS: I was not sure if he was actually being called or
       not.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: He is in the list as a witness rather than a
Civil Evidence Act Notice, so I had assumed that he was.

MR. MORRIS: I think it came up before a day or two ago.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is that right?

MR. RAMPTON: That is right. It is not a Civil Evidence Act.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: No.

MR. MORRIS: A final point on this -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not think a single thing, if I may say
so, I have said this afternoon has steered you off from
