Day 086 - 09 Feb 95 - Page 73

Q. Is that true for every piece of electrical equipment?
A. Well, we do not always have a spare whole fry station
but there would be normally be spare like vats that you
could use. There is a spare steamer in each store. It is
normally two grills and unless it would be a very high
capacity, you will not be using those all the time. So,
there is spare equipment.

Q. So you would not always have a spare fry station?
A. You may not have a spare fry station but you will
probably have a spare vat that you are not using at that
moment in time.

Q. So you would cook the fries in some other vat?
A. Most fry stations have three vats of which you probably
use two or one-and-a-half most of the time except at peak
times.

Q. What would happen if it was the socket that was faulty and
you were not able to use the equipment as a result of the
socket being faulty?
A. Are you talking about a toaster socket or any socket?

Q. The socket for any piece of equipment.
A. I guess if the equipment did not work, then an engineer
would be called in. There is normally a trouble shooting
guide for each piece of equipment which is in the PMC
manual. You can go through and do some checks on it which
are not dangerous; just to check that, you know, the plug
is plugged in, that the trip switch has not gone off, check
the basic and then you are instructed to call an engineer
on major things like that.

Q. While you were waiting for the engineer to come, if there
was some product you were not able to serve, what would be
the position then? You would just carry on without that
product or would someone try to sort it out?
A. Carry on without that product.

Q. Can you just quickly look at page 262 of this document?
A. Would you like me to read the whole page?

Q. I would like you to scan through the Fire, Health and
Safety Class. Perhaps you can tell me whether you can find
anything about fixing electrical equipment or about
running, for that matter?
A. I have looked through there and I cannot see a
reference to not running and to not conducting electrical
work.

Q. Right. So do you think that is something that has been
added since this or is the current guide the same?
A. It may have been added since this. Certainly, the
electrical training class for, electrical awareness class,
for managers has been introduced three years ago or so.

Q. That is just for managers?
A. But I think that, well, yes, that tells managers about
it but also talks to them about their responsibilities and
