Day 021 - 29 Jul 94 - Page 53
1
Q. Do you consider that the information they contain,
2 including the facts and figures about the composition of
the food, is irrelevant?
3 A. No, I do not.
4 MR. MORRIS: Can we ask that the nutrition guide that is
specifically referred to be considered, because it is a
5 very specific reference?
6 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you consider that any of it is
irrelevant?
7 A. Well, I would really need to have a thorough look at
it all. Any I have looked at to my mind is extremely
8 helpful to consumers, so I could not agree that it is
irrelevant.
9
MR. RAMPTON: Here is a booklet from the United Kingdom
10 published in October 1994 entitled: "Good Food Nutrition
and McDonald's".
11
MS. STEEL: That is not the word referred to.
12
MR. RAMPTON: Will you tell me which one is referred to?
13
MS. STEEL: The Nutrition Guide.
14
MR. RAMPTON: Will you give me the reference, please?
15
MS. STEEL: It is 4A.
16
MR. JUSTICE BELL: In?
17
MS. STEEL: In pink bundle VI.
18
MR. RAMPTON: That is very helpful, July 1985. It is a much
19 shorter document as well.
20 MR. JUSTICE BELL: What date is this?
21 MR. RAMPTON: It is July 1985, my Lord. One can see that from
the last page. In my copy it is upside-down.
22
MR. JUSTICE BELL: As long as I know. I was trying to relate
23 it to the date when the leaflet may have been written.
24 MR. RAMPTON: There is material to similar effect.
25 MR. JUSTICE BELL: It was first published October 1984, second
edition February 1985 and this one July 1985.
26 A. Could I have the reference please?
27 MR. RAMPTON: It is tab 4A in that file.
28 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Pink VI, 4A.
29 MR. RAMPTON: Turn the file round.
A. "Is this what we put into our food?"
30
Q. It is called "McDonald's Nutrition Guide".
