Day 170 - 05 Oct 95 - Page 14

questions: "If she was still off work following the two
week period, I informed her mother that she would receive
       sick pay".
       A. Yes, sir.

  Q. On what basis would the sick pay be worked out?
       A. Technically, I do not know how it is worked out, but if
she was entitled to it we would put it on the computer and
they would work it out from Head Office.

  Q. I do not want to start digging around in the other
documents which we have now, but was it the whole or a
proportion of a certain amount of pay, can you remember?
       A. I cannot remember.

  Q. The other matter I wanted to ask about is if someone was on
the books as a part-timer but actually had been working
full-time hours over, say, the few weeks before they went
       sick ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- would the sick pay be calculated on a part-time or a
full-time basis? Do you know the answer to that?
       A. I do not know the answer to that.

  Q. Then the next sentence: "I could and would not have
promised that Melanie would receive full pay because
Melanie was a part-time worker (I think she only worked at
weekends) and it would have made no sense for her to
receive full pay in the sense of a full week's wage". But,
as I understand what you said a few minutes ago, you were
expecting her to receive full pay in the sense of a full
       week's wage for two weeks?
       A. Full-time for her schedule, the time she was
       scheduled.

  Q. But she would be scheduled full-time?
       A. Yes.

  Q. 35 hours or more?
       A. Yes.

  Q. She was for the next week to come and she could expect to
be for the week after that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Yes.

MS. STEEL: You said in your first statement that Mel O'Riordon
had a slipping accident in the wash up room; is that
       correct?
       A. In the back room, yes.

  Q. The wash up room and the back room are the same; is that
right? Is that what you are saying?
       A. Yes, we do not call it the "wash up room"; it is the
       back room.

  Q. It says "wash up room" in your statement.
