Day 133 - 12 Jun 95 - Page 61

MS. STEEL: Yes, sorry, the tables, what year those figures are
for and where they are from.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you think you would be able to do that?

THE WITNESS: Yes, I believe so.

MS. STEEL: Also I suppose whether the figures on the final page
are from the same -- do we know who the Catering Review
       Group is?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The final page G, if you can find out again
what the survey period was. Do you understand?

  THE WITNESS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Was there anything specifically apart from
       that you wanted to know?

MR. MORRIS: There was something when I was looking at those
figures I was confused about in terms of document D which
       was the ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is there anything more on G2 first of all?

MR. MORRIS: As far as I know, no.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do not forget if you think the figure on the
face of the document helps or supports your argument, there
is absolutely no point in digging any deeper on it.

MR. MORRIS: Yes, I understand that.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Document D?

MR. MORRIS: It is just on document D, it may be a very simple
matter, the figure given at the bottom in the total column
on the right-hand side is 23,376. I think the employee
figures were greater than that for that year which means
that either not all the people are known what their reasons
for leaving are, or it is only for three-quarters of 1993.
It might be helpful if that is found out.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you can find anything more about where the
       figures came from ----

  THE WITNESS: I will investigate.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If I have done my sums correctly, the total
of the figures for London and South Midlands and the North
is in fact about 600 more than 23,376. That may be neither
here nor there, but in fact I am prepared to affirm it is
not here nor there because we are not going into the
minutiae like that. In case on further questioning
tomorrow something crops up that is either here or there,
if you can find out what Mr. Morris has just asked.

THE WITNESS: Yes, I will investigate that.
