Day 136 - 16 Jun 95 - Page 19
side.
A. Right.

Q. What is at "4"?
A. 4 is a preparation area.

Q. I have put a "5" on the large block in the middle because
I can see that has non-slip at the top, bottom and to the
left. What is at "5"?
A. 5 is the four griddle centre island.

Q. I have put a "6" on the next smaller block to the south, as
it were?
A. That would be the chicken station, fries and filet --
pies and filet station.

Q. I have put a "7" at the bottom which is the last one above
the wall; what is that?
A. Sorry, that is the chicken station.

Q. That is ---
A. That is a chicken station.

Q. -- as well?
A. Yes. Any areas where we are actually working in hot
areas, where there are hot oils or the grill station which
is hot, we would invariably put a non-slip floor material.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When we finish this morning, I will hand down
my plan so you can make sure you have the 1s to 7s just
where I have.

MR. MORRIS: So this would be the standard policy of McDonald's
nationally of where to put non-slip tiling?
A. That is correct.

Q. Not in the wash-up area?
A. We are now putting them in the wash-up area.

Q. But up until now not the wash up area?
A. This was in 1987.

Q. Yes, but up till now you have not put non-slip tiling in
the wash-up area as a policy in McDonald's stores
nationally, have you?
A. Up until 1987, as this drawing shows, perhaps, yes, but
we have now put non-slip flooring in all of our restaurants
in the wash up areas.

Q. This map on the bottom right-hand corner above the ground
floor plan where it says "12th July 1989", so at least up
to 12th July 1989 this was current?
A. 89 or 87?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The copyright is 1985, but beneath the
amendments box ---
A. Right, OK.

Q. -- on the right-hand side ---
A. Yes, 89.
