       2 MS. STEEL:  If Mr. Rampton would avoid making sarcastic
       3      comments because they have given us a lot of pieces of
       4      paper over the last couple of days.  We have not had a
       5      chance to read them all.

       7 MR. RAMPTON:  I can see it is in front of Mr. Morris' left
       8      elbow.  If he should be so gracious to reach over and give
       9      it to Ms. Steel, then she would know where to find the
      10      document.

      12 MR. JUSTICE BELL:  It is right at the very back in 45.

      14 MS. STEEL (To the witness):  The statement of Timothy Taylor
      15      who is now the Country Manager for McDonald's in the Czech
      16      Republic, but who was Senior Supervisor, Operations
      17      Manager and Market Manager during the period when you were
      18      at McDonald's?
      19      A.  That is right, yes.

      21 Q.   I just wanted to ask you about paragraph 5 of his
      22      statement.  He says:  "All Managers have budgetary targets
      23      which are set after consultation with their Supervisors".
      24      He then goes on to say:  "They vary from restaurant to
      25      restaurant.  It is correct that all Restaurant Managers
      26      are expected to maintain at reasonable levels that
      27      controllable costs, including food and labour costs.  As I
      28      have said, the budgeted percentage are agreed between the
      29      Manager and his/her Supervisor and are neither unrealistic
      30      nor absolute".  What kind of input did you have into these
      31      targets, these budgetary targets, that were set, if any?
      32      A.  The input was very basic:  "These are your targets.
      33      This is what we want you to do.  Go away and do it".  We
      34      could not actually change the targets to any extent at
      35      all.

      37 Q.   Right.  So, he mentions about the targets that he set for
      38      you and also about targets that were set by his superiors,
      39      including Andrew Taylor.  Were you aware of him having
      40      targets set for him?
      41      A.  Obviously, I was never there when he had his target
      42      set, but it would be obvious from the way they came down
      43      that he had been given targets to achieve by somebody
      44      above and it had filtered down the system, so we would be
      45      aware that he was being told that he had to achieve a
      46      certain figure.

      48 Q.   In paragraph 9, if you could just read that to yourself,
      49      and then if you have any comment to make on what was put
      50      over to you as being the most important criteria?
      51      A.  Yes, I mean, from a Manager's point of view, while the
      52      first four were always important, it was always stressed, 
      53      I always felt the pressure on was for the bottom two, the
      54      growth and the profitability above the other two.

      56 MR. MORRIS:  He says in the last point in that paragraph:
      57      "After Mr. Coton took over management of the restaurant,
      58      I still considered it to be well run".  Did you consider
      59      that you ran the store well?
      60      A.  I like to think that I ran the store well.
