     1        A.  I do not know.  I would assume it was easier for Frank
     2        to set up in the North West and the North East, which was
     3        his region.  He was a lot closer to those regions than he
     4        was to Scotland. He could cover those two regions as well,
     5        which would be a different contractor for Scotland.  It was
     6        just distance.

     8   Q.   Can I just ask you about something you said yesterday, or
     9        it was a quote from your report about Mark Hopkins,
    10        I think:  "We aim to train all salaried managers in First
    11        Aid.  We are approximately 50 per cent of the way in
    12        meeting this objective", and then Mr. Rampton asked
    13        you: "How far are you now, as at 1995?"  You said:  "80 to
    14        90 per cent".  What is the difficulty, why have you not got
    15        100 per cent training?
    16        A.  There are new Managers coming through all of the time.

    18   Q.   They do not get First Aid training when they start as a new
    19        Manager?
    20        A.  Not when they start, no.  It is part of their training
    21        schedule, but it is not when they start.  There was some
    22        catching up to do, obviously.  I believe with Floor
    23        Managers it is part of what they do before they are allowed
    24        to run shifts.  Second Assistant, I believe it is still
    25        shortly after ---

    27   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Can you remember about what I said about
    28        speaking out into the court, please?
    29        A.  Sorry.  The Floor Managers, they get it as part of
    30        their training, but I believe with the Second Assistants,
    31        it is still scheduled in slightly afterwards.

    34        A.  I do not know.

    36   Q.   The Floor Managers get it as part of their training.  Are
    37        you talking about their initial training?
    38        A.  As part of their shift running training.

    41        A.  Yes.

    43   Q.   When do they get that, before they start as Floor Managers?
    44        A.  No, there is a difference between a shift running Floor
    45        Manager and a Floor Manager, because Floor Managers are
    46        hourly-paid employees --  well, they have always been
    47        developed from crew members.  They are not allowed to run
    48        shifts straightaway.  In fact, mostly they are used either
    49        running the kitchen area or running the front counters.
    50        Where there is perhaps a more mature Floor Manager or a 
    51        more experienced floor manager, they are then put forward 
    52        to running shifts.

    54   Q.   Is that when they become salaried?
    55        A.  No, they still stay hourly paid, but they go on extra
    56        training, and part of that is First Aid.

    58   Q.   I cannot remember, what level do they start, what level of
    59        management do they start to be salaried, as opposed to
    60        hourly paid?
