Day 276 - 09 Jul 96 - Page 14

down from Minas Goias and Mato Grosso down to San Paulo?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So that would be to be fattened, so they must still be
       alive, yes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So that is not unusual, that cattle, before they are
       fattened, are trucked?
       A. Are trucked, yes.

  Q. Quite long distances?
       A. Not necessarily, no more than -- I mean, fat cattle, or
any particular cattle, do not travel particularly well long
       distances.

  Q. Right, but they do get trucked those distances before they
       are fattened?
       A. We do not truck them. We certainly do not truck cattle
2,000 kilometres, if that is what you are trying to say.

  Q. No, I understand that, but you are buying cattle for
       fattening?
       A. No, we are not.

  Q. You are not. Sorry?
       A. Shall we start again? We kill 200,000 cattle a year
which is approximately ten per cent, give or take three or
four per cent, are ours. Right?

  Q. Right.
       A. And the rest, the other 75 to 80 per cent come from
within Sau Paulo. We draw them from within Sau Paulo and
kill them. I do not know where those cattle come from.
They are nothing to do with me, but when we buy them they
       are in Sau Paulo.

  Q. Okay, I understand that. But that is the position, they
are not all reared in Sau Paulo, they are coming down from
other states and they are fattened in Sau Paulo?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You just buy them and you do not know where they have come
       from?
       A. The Figorifico Co buy them. We know where they are,
but we do not know, we have not any means of knowing, where
       they have come from.

  Q. Right. Okay. There is just a couple more questions to ask
about. Have you got page numbers at the bottom of your
       pages?
       A. No.

  Q. You have not? That is a bit of a shame.
       A. Let us try. Give me a number and let us see where we
       can go.

  Q. I have got page 25 on mine?
       A. After 4, after the orange bit; where are you?
