Day 122 - 05 May 95 - Page 46
Q. -- examined, if it was a continuing issue ---
A. Yes.

Q. -- enquiry, that would be recorded?
A. I would have thought so. Bearing in mind I have not
attended one of these Monday meetings. They were started
after I had become Ombudsman, so I do not attend that
meeting deliberately, the Monday morning meeting.

Q. That was the one -----
A. At that was Monday morning Executive, Monday afternoon
Executive meeting.

Q. Sorry, that is the one that is all 15 or 14 --- yes.

Q. -- Executives?
A. Carmel Flatley is the facilitator, that is her title,
facilitator of that meeting, and she may very well keep
minutes for herself. Whether she distributes them or not, I
do not know, I have never attended.

Q. But the meeting of Executives for policy-making, that has
been the policy-making body and form, has it, since you
have been involved in the Company?
A. No, it changed. We used to have an Executive meeting
at that met maybe once every three months. When we
restructured the organisation, and I was appointed
Ombudsman, it created this Executive -- started this
Executive meeting on Monday afternoon. I have never
attended. I am afraid I do not know how much of the
meeting is recorded.

Q. Before that there was a three-monthly Executive -----
A. There was nothing structured. It did not have to be
every three months -- as and when necessary, roughly about
four meetings a year.

Q. When there were those meetings because, presumably the
time-scale, it had to concentrate on important matters, is
that correct?
A. Yes.

Q. What happens to the minutes of those three-monthly
Executive meetings? What happens to those?
A. I do not know.

Q. They are kept on file?
A. I do not know about the minutes. I do not know minutes
were kept at those meetings. There we used to discuss
policy. As a result of what we discussed the head of the
department responsible for the matter discussed would issue
a memo.

Q. So the policy-making body of McDonald's Restaurants Limited
UK, certainly up to 1992, did not automatically keep
minutes of its meetings?
A. No, they were quite informal.

Q. They were informal meetings?
A. And if decisions were reached, then memos would be
