Day 277 - 10 Jul 96 - Page 72

  Q. The purpose of my question is this, were there any copies
of anti-McDonald's literature kept at 1, Linden Road, or
the subsequent address for that matter?
       A. I never saw any.

  Q. Very well?
       A. Until, of course, after the writs had been served. But
they weren't kept there, but I had a few copies of them.

  Q. Yes. There is a page in the notes for 13th September that
I ought to ask you about. Can I start please on page 187
in Mr. Bishop's report? We see at the beginning that there
is Jane, Charlie, you, Jonathan and Michelle Hooker?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Aka Shelley was at this meeting. Second paragraph, just to
go on, we have read it before, my voice is getting tired
anyway, if you would not mind just reading it to yourself
down to the last line, "16th October 1990"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then it goes on about your Bank of England project?
       A. Yes.

  Q. For which we saw the leaflets this morning I daresay?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then it says this, after the telephone number given for you
and I am not going to read that out, it says this:

"After this discussion, Jonathan left at half-past-9. The
meeting was being wound up about 20-past-10, when Paul
Gravett arrived with a report of what he had been doing.
He was late because he had attended the second meeting of a
new group calling itself Third World First."

Then there is a bit about what he said about that. Do
you accept that Paul Gravett was absent during the
discussion about the McDonald's pickets which were to take
       place on 16th October?
       A. I can't remember the meeting, but I accept that that is
what it says in the notes.

  Q. And then can we please turn to page 201D for Donald, which
is the third page of Michelle Hooker's report for the same
date, which if you want to check starts on page 201B for
       Bishop?
       A. Yes.

  Q. There again there is material to the same effect about the
pickets. But I want to ask you about the first and last
paragraphs on that page. Do you remember having the book
       "Behind The Arches"?
       A. Yes, I picked it up in a secondhand bookshop and it is
my recollection that I had it at home for quite some time
and was reading it before bringing it into office.

  Q. Do you remember when you picked it up in a secondhand
       bookshop?
