Day 069 - 19 Dec 94 - Page 29
McDonald's finished products.

Q. Is that just the USA?
A. For USA, finished products?

Q. Or the USA?
A. I am not aware of any product that has been exported
from Coope Montecillos, that is, our products. They do
have -- that is a division where they export to other
countries,, including the US, but it has nothing to do with
us.

Q. That would be deboned, would it?
A. It would be deboned or -- yes.

Q. Or what?
A. I do not know. I have not seen their side of the
business.

MR. MORRIS: So these deboned, for example, exports, or
non-finished products exports, some of that might actually
end up actually at a McDonald's supplier in another
country?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are we still on Coope Montecillos, or
generally?

MR. MORRIS: Yes, on Coope Montecillos.
A. I have not seen any evidence to support that. I am not
aware of any.

Q. But there is no specification that you have seen which
would prevent a supplier of McDonald's from using beef that
had originated from Coope Montecillos anywhere in the world
apart from, say, the USA?
A. That is a big question. That covers a lot, so I must
have to reduce it. I have not seen any evidence of
finished product. When you mention Coope Montecillos, it
covers their business that we have nothing to do with that.

Q. I understand that.
A. I cannot answer for that side of business. So you must
be specific.

Q. What I am saying is non-finished products, not patties?
A. Yes. They do not export any non-finished product, any
raw materials, for any supplier of us, that I am aware of
or that I have seen any evidence of that.

Q. But you have not any policy which would prevent them from
doing that?
A. Why should I have a policy? No.

Q. I do not know.
A. They have a policy of their side of the business. It
is up to them. We do have a policy that we talk to our
suppliers in the US that we only use domestic beef, so that
excludes the US. We do not limit their suppliers in terms
of where they should buy the meat, unless it follows into
some areas such as the rainforests. So other than that, we
