Day 060 - 02 Dec 94 - Page 18
you put it.

MS. STEEL: You said in your statement that -- perhaps if you
get your statement it might be easiest; it is yellow III.
A. OK.

Q. You have mentioned in paragraph 16 about recycling of waste
oils?
A. Yes.

Q. Is it right that it is not permissible to just tip it down
your drains, waste oil?
A. It may be; I have no knowledge of that. That is an
operational issue.

Q. You do not know?
A. I have no knowledge of that.

MR. MORRIS: The purpose of that question is, if it was illegal,
then the necessity for removing them in a systematic
fashion, you would have to do that anyway, whether you
wanted to care about the environment or not, it would be
compulsory?
A. I understand your question.

Q. Yes.
A. But I repeat, I have no knowledge of that.

Q. You do not know?
A. No, that is an operational ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It would make sense that you have to carry
the waste somehow?
A. If that were the case ----

Q. It would be difficult to see how you could just sensibly
pour it down a drain, or pour it into a dustbin, or even a
skip for normal removal. You can envisage all sorts of
problems doing that. It looks as if you have to think of
some sensible way of carting it away, does it not?
A. It does.

MS. STEEL: Is the oil collected by any company that is
connected to you?
A. I do not know.

Q. You do not know who it is collected by?
A. No.

Q. Do you know anything about what happens to it?
A. Only what I have put in the statement here.

Q. Is that from your own knowledge or is that because you
asked someone?
A. No, that is because I asked the operational people that
question.

Q. That is what they told you?
A. That is their answer.
