Day 260 - 11 Jun 96 - Page 41

photograph?" I have said, "Yes, I do, but I cannot stop
you, provided you do not get in my way." To interfere with
an advocate is as much a contempt as it is with a witness.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am not minded to say anything unless some
formal step is taken. For all I know, the Defendants want
to take photographs of them and send them to all their
friends and say, "Look, if these people turn up, you will
know they are inquiry agents." Is there anything unlawful
       about that?

MR. RAMPTON: Not if they send them to their friends, no.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. Very well. Yes.

MS. STEEL: I think we are on 16th June now.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have checked against Mrs. Brinley-Codd's
index, and I think I have got my own notes all in order
now. My only query is that 10th October 1989,
Mr. Pocklington has pages 1 to 13 and I have just got five
pages. 21st April 1990, I think, is actually the 12th.
There are one or two other very small matters, but unless
I am missing something in the notes of 2nd October, I think
I have made up my own bundle; and if there is any
difficulty, I am quite happy that it should come out in the
       wash.

MR. RAMPTON: The reason may be, my Lord, what your Lordship has
not transferred are the documents, those things which
       Mr. Pocklington collected.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have left those behind.

MR. RAMPTON: They have been included in the pagination.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Which dates were you -----

MS. STEEL: Sorry? On 16th June. There is the statement, the
fourth statement, which will be in tab D. The reference to
16th June is on page 4, and then there are the notes of
       16th June.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Carry on.

MS. STEEL: (To the witness) Where it says in your statement
that: "On 16th June, an anti-poll tax march was to be held
from Smithfield to Finsbury Park which was supposed to be
supported by members of London Greenpeace", you just
basically mean there that someone had said that they
thought that so and so would probably be attending, various
people who usually went to London Greenpeace or sometimes
       went to London Greenpeace?
       A. Members at a meeting would have said that they intended
       attending the meeting, yes.

  Q. Or that other people -- for example, Paul might have said,
"Helen and Dave will be going"?
       A. Whatever. I cannot be specific on each one.
