Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 38
"Most of the day was spent in answering letters. Many of
the letters were from school children and students who
asked specific questions about the environment. In many of
the replies, a copy of the leaflet complained of was
included. There were inquiries specifically referring to
McDonald's and asking for information on the subject or
saying they had seen the leaflet complained of and wanted
further information. Those simply wanting information were
sent the leaflet complained of" -- which is the fold-out
one I showed you earlier?
A. Yes.

Q. "Those wanting supplementary information were put to one
side and were told that they would be for Paul Gravett to
deal with."

Then it goes on about how Mr. Gravett was going to put
together a book or pamphlet about McDonald's. There was
discussion that it might be printed by a company called the
Aldgate Press, and so on.

You spent a whole day there, because you left at 6.30 in
the evening?
A. Yes, that is correct.

Q. Before I ask you to look at your notes for that occasion,
can you remember whether you, yourself, put any of the
leaflets complained of in envelopes in answer to inquiries?
A. I do not remember specifically, but it is probable that
I did.

Q. Did John and Andrew Clarke also do the same thing?
A. Yes. We were all engaged in the same activity.

Q. The Defendants have said that there was an occasion --
I have not got a date for it -- when you and a girl called
Jane Laporte did a similar thing. Do you remember that?
A. Yes, yes, I do, yes.

Q. That was just the two of you?
A. As far as I recall, from memory, yes.

Q. What was it on those two occasions that led you to put this
leaflet into these envelopes?
A. To continue attending meetings, I felt it would be good
if I showed willing to take some part, because I had no
other part, no other outside activities which corresponded
with outside activities of other members of the group.
I felt it would be beneficial to show willing and help out
where I could in the office.

Q. It is credibility?
A. Yes.

Q. Can you remember what -- I forgot to ask Mr. Bishop this,
but it does not matter now -- can you remember what cover
you gave for yourself when you were there?
A. I think -----

Q. How you described yourself?
