Day 142 - 26 Jun 95 - Page 50
A. Usually when you find an operator who is not delivering
quality service and cleanliness, there are other things
that you would be concerned about as well, but I did not
have specific knowledge of it. I would have liked to have
had my folks become aware of it, but we just could not. It
was just one of those unfortunate situations where the
owner/operator was hostile within his rights to reject any
assistance, but at the same time the Company was within its
rights to bring a default action.

Q. Just one question that you may know something about. It is
relevant to other aspects of the case. It says in the
article about planting white potatoes rather than sweet
potatoes?
A. Yes, I saw that. I thought it was humorous.

Q. That is something that would happen in most countries, yes,
that you would seek supplies of your own preferred potato
product?
A. We would like the farmers to grow potatoes that would
meet our specifications, yes.

Q. I think we can leave Barbados.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will have the five-minute break here,
Mr. Morris. Try to get yourself organised as to the exact
order you are going to go through things. In fact I will
come back at 10 past.

(Short Adjournment).

MS. STEEL: I just wanted to ask some general questions.
Before you worked for McDonald's between, I think it was,
1972 and 1974 you were working with a law firm in Columbus
Ohio?
A. That is correct.

Q. What was the name of that law firm?
A. Schoeleustein, Gorel, Swedlow & Zox.

Q. McDonald's became a client during that time?
A. That is correct.

Q. That was in matter of Labour Relations?
A. Yes, it was. That was what I was specialising in.

Q. So they were involved in some dispute with a ----
A. No, that is not what I said. The owner/operators in
the Columbus area had put together their own handbook
similar to the handbooks that you are talking about.

Q. The Crew Handbook?
A. The Crew Handbook, and what they wanted was a local
attorney to review that handbook and make sure that it
complied with all of the legal requirements, not only of
federal which I think they were aware of because of
McDonald's, but complied with all State and local
requirements as well. So I was asked to review the
Handbook and give them an opinion on whether or not their
practices complied with all requirements.
