original, systems, dreams and concepts become a mockery.
Your sincerely, Bhanulal Patel," and his signature.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you remember whether you wanted to read
any parts of the pink volume?

MR. MORRIS: Can I just have a quick look at it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, it is pink 15, divider 100. In fact, it
has just got a one; it has got 100. It has got a divider
       100. (Same handed) Do not say anything; just have a look
at it. Obviously, you do not need to read the
formalities. I can summarize those if you want.

MR. MORRIS: I think we will have to read it, particularly in
the light that the Plaintiffs may wish to rely on their two
       witnesses.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think they are only going to do that if you
read this bit. I had not understood they were going to
seek to call any additional evidence as to the general
       allegations which have been made.

MR. MORRIS: No, they are not.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is right, Mr. Atkinson?

  MR. ATKINSON: That is correct.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But it is a matter for you.

MS. STEEL: Does that mean they serve CEA's on those two
witnesses if we do not read this out? I was under the
impression they were going to do it anyway?

MR. ATKINSON: No, I mean my understanding is that we will not
rely upon these people except insofar as the issue of
racial discrimination against Mr. Patel on the occasions
set out here are relied on by the defendants.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: I think I will read it out.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause a moment. I do not want you to
read out -- obviously your main purpose is to get the, have
the statement in evidence. So I think all you need say is
that it appears on or about the 28th March, 1991. Just
pause a moment. Well, I cannot see a date on the
application. It is probably in the top left hand corner.

MR. ATKINSON: There is a date, 27th March 1991, on the first
       page.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, but that is a notice from the Industrial
       Tribunal to your client.

MR. ATKINSON: I see. Of the statement?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, all we need say that in or about March
