Day 018 - 26 Jul 94 - Page 71
1 Q. What other surveys have you done involving Sun Valley?
A. There is the one on dead on arrivals which you have a
2 copy of. We have, I think they were in a survey, I think,
I am not certain of my facts because I do not keep all the
3 information in my head, I think they were used in a survey
where we were trying to assess the currents that were used
4 in processing plants during normal stunning operations.
5 Q. Right.
A. They may have been used on the prevalence of the
6 effect of stunning current on the prevalence of cardiac
arrest at stunning. They may have been used, but I cannot
7 be certain. We used a whole variety of plants. There
have been a number of trials errors, you appreciate, so I
8 cannot be crystal clear as to which we did use Sun Valley
for.
9
Q. If you had used them would you be able to check that out
10 and let us know?
11 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you hear that conversation? Is it
distracting you?
12 A. No problems, but is it all right for you?
13 MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am content. It was if it was distracting
you in any way, then we would do something about it yes.
14
MS. STEEL: If they were one of the companies used would you
15 be able to check that out?
A. I am perfectly honest, I think we probably ditched the
16 data when it comes to the individual plants; old data we
certainly will have. It could be tried. Maybe we have
17 kept it, maybe we have not, I honestly do not know.
18 Q. You do not know roughly when that survey was?
A. Which one?
19
Q. The one you were just referring to?
20 A. On cardiac arrest?
21 Q. Yes.
A. It would have been published in the 1987 paper.
22 I think it would have been about 1986, about 1986.
23 Q. Right.
A. Now, if I remember rightly and this is again I am
24 calling on memory, a long time ago, they were using a high
frequency stunner at that time. If that was the case, we
25 would not have included their data in the survey because
our data related to a low frequency current. We would
26 have surveyed them, but we would not have included the
data in the report. However, we may have the data.
27
Q. Right.
28 A. When we go into these plants we usually provide them
with an element of confidentiality. They do not like the
29 individual plants being talked about outside. We normally
respect that, and I would just like to put that point
30 over.
