Day 069 - 19 Dec 94 - Page 70

  Q. Would that be the same records that have been disclosed to
us in this case or would they be additional records?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is a bit difficult when he says he does
       not know.

MR. MORRIS: That is true. He says a lot of groups have access
to the records. What kind of records do they have access
       to?
       A. Just about every record that we have, any employee in
McDonald's, all we have to do is request it and we can see
it. There is obviously some very confidential information,
let us say, regarding our financial situation that is not
available to everybody, although it would be available at
the end of the year as part of the shareholders' meeting.
But if I want to have access and I know where to look for
it and I know the person in this case, I can probably see
       the records.

  Q. But in terms of making those records available to the
public or concerned groups, you do not know what kinds of
       records would be shown?
       A. I have said that I do not know what records were shown
here. There are a lot of people that go there and usually
they are received by a group of people that work in either
relations or public relations or government relations
departments or could be purchasing; it could be product
development departments; it could be quality assurance
       departments.

  Q. Do you know why in the sentence above you are unaware that
McDonald's Corporation has a policy on not buying beef from
soya or soya fed cattle, which you said before you do not
have any policy on that? How come you did not know that?
       A. I did state that I have not seen anybody using soya for
the feeding of cattle, but it is not a thing -- I do not
       see anything wrong with that.

  Q. No, but in some countries you do use soya fed cattle, do
       you not?
       A. I have not come across any country in which we use
       soyabeans for cattle.

  Q. Mr. Oakley from the UK said that cattle in the UK, Denmark
and Holland or something, we have also had evidence on
Germany as well -- we have had evidence from, I think,
Mr. Oakley -- that cattle have been fed with soya?
       A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Whether that is right or not, did you know
       anything about that?
       A. No, I did not. If Mr. Oakley said it, I trust him,
       yes.

MR. MORRIS: But you said you had no policy on that?
       A. I have not seen the ----

  Q. Yet McDonald's Corporation has a printed public document
telling everybody that they have a policy on it?
       A. I did not say that. I said I am not aware of any
