does not really indicate what they meant by it.

  Q. But all the previous correspondence has been addressed to
       Mr. Trimble, the Manager?
       A. Yes, I can see that. But I have no opinion as to why
they addressed it to the Manager.

MS. STEEL: Just one other matter.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I had in mind is, you have asked quite a
lot of questions, and I need to know what the suggestion
is. I mean, are you suggesting that there is something
sinister about Mr. Trimble going abroad or not being
there? If so, I would like you, for instance, to put that
and put what Mr. Mehigan or his company had to gain by
       Mr. Trimble's absence.

MS. STEEL: I think I have already -- I mean, I have put that
that he was trying to delay the hearing so that Mr. Trimble
would have left and it is disputed. I have also put -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That seems to me to be indirect.

MR. MORRIS: I do not think they -- we are not saying that
       Mr. Trimble -----

MS. STEEL: I am not saying that he sacked him, although, I do
not know, for all I know, he might have done. But I have
       put the other matter.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Putting that he delayed the matter so that
Mr. Trimble would have left the country -----

MS. STEEL: And, also, tht he failed to get an affidavit or a
forwarding address or any attempt to get the witness there.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Put what your case is in relation to this.

  MS. STEEL: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Because those may lead me to infer what your
case is, but I may draw the wrong inference. It is just
       easier if you put it.

MS. STEEL: OK. (To the witness) It suited you, did it not,
that Mr. Trimble was not available to give evidence,
because it meant that he could not be cross-examined as to
the fact that the proper dismissal procedure had not been
followed and that the real reason for the dismissal was
because of Mr. McCann's and Mr. Brian's union activity?
       A. I think you asked me a few questions there in one, as
       it were.

  Q. Sorry.
       A. If you would like to take each point, I will try and
       answer you.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The main thing, I think it is being suggested
to you that it suited you that Mr. Trimble would not be
there, because if he was there, gave evidence and was
