1 Q. How did he deal with it?
2 A. He looked at it and he got John, one of the Managers,
3 to pack it in ice and that. You could see it was swelling,
4 so he said, you know: "I will phone a taxi" and he said:
5 "John could go with you to the hospital", but I said, no,
6 I was all right, I would go on my own. I went by taxi to
7 the hospital.

10 A. Yes, yes.

12 Q. Did you pay for the taxi?
13 A. Oh, no, certainly not.

15 Q. How long were you in hospital?
16 A. I had to stay 24 hours.

18 Q. Did you have any contact from McDonald's while you were
19 in hospital?
20 A. Oh, yes, yes. They phoned -- we had to phone them to
21 tell them that I would be in 24 hours and they phoned in
22 the morning to see how I was.

27 Q. How soon were you able to go back to work?
28 A. Six weeks.

30 Q. Did McDonald's put any pressure on you to go back to work
31 before you felt ready to do so?
32 A. Oh, no, certainly not.

37 Q. Have you ever had any other more minor things like cuts and
38 bruises, burns?
39 A. Oh, slight burns, yes, slight burns.

44 Q. While you have been there, those 20 years, do you remember
45 any other member of the workforce ever having any serious
46 accident?
47 A. Not very serious accident, no, slight burns on their
48 arms and fingers.

51 Mrs. Farrer, and you have done a bit of cooking, it would
52 seem?

60 McDonald's; have you had problems getting time off if you
