Day 102 - 13 Mar 95 - Page 63
A. Yes.

Q. She did not say she was involved in the demonstration?
A. She did not say that, but it was obvious by the
discussion she knew the people involved and she knew what
they had been up to, otherwise why would I have had the
phone call?

Q. You do not want Mrs. Druce to visit the broiler farms
because you know she is opposed to the broiler industry; is
that not right?
A. I know that she holds those sorts of views.

Q. You are afraid of criticism from people who are opposed to
the broiler industry?
A. As I say, I am not afraid of being criticised by
anybody who holds objective views.

Q. Well, I am sorry, you have come back to that "objective
views". Are you saying that you do not think her views are
objective?
A. I cannot say any more than I have already said.
I have said that I know what her views are, and I cannot
say any more than that.

MS. STEEL: Perhaps we could break there.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is the prognosis for tomorrow?

MS. STEEL: To be honest I do not think we will be finished.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What areas have you got to cover?

MS. STEEL: Well, obviously there is slaughter to go through
and some other points we need to go back to as well that
need to be clarified. The other thing is I have actually
got an appointment tomorrow in the afternoon which I would
like to keep. It has come up at short notice. I realise
that this creates problems, but I do not think we would be
finished tomorrow anyway.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When you say "an appointment" is it anything
to do with the case?

MS. STEEL: It is to do with my health.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: While respecting privacy, is it a medical
appointment?

MS. STEEL: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What time is it?

MS. STEEL: At 3 o'clock. That was the only time they had. It
is just the only time they had. It was a cancellation.
I was told that it is quite possible that I would not get
an appointment for a considerable period of time.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Did you tell them what your situation was?
