Day 122 - 05 May 95 - Page 45

MR. MORRIS: Apart from Executive meetings, do you have
       interdepartmental meetings?
       A. Yes.

  Q. They are formal management meetings, are they?
       A. Yes, there is one held every Monday afternoon.

  Q. The heads of all departments come together?
       A. Yes, the Executive head of all the departments sit
together and they examine policy ideas.

  Q. Within each department, say Personnel Department, do you
actually have sit-down meetings of the Personnel
       Department?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Where are we going now?

MR. MORRIS: We are trying to see what the decision-making
       structure is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, if it is a decision, which is relevant to
the issues in this case, by all means ask it. I will begin
to regret asking for any further information if I think you
think it is an invitation to enquire further.

MR. MORRIS: No, I did want to pursue this. What I am trying to
identify is which meetings the company has, how often they
       are and what happens to the minutes of those meetings;
where are they collated and how long are they kept for,
because it is relevant obviously to our indications in the
       past for documents?
       A. The only minutes that need to be recorded are those of
the Board. That is a requirement by law.

  Q. Right, but --- they must be kept.

  Q. --- presumably Executive meetings are noted?
       A. They are not strictly recorded as a Board meeting is
recorded. They come up with ideas and someone might
highlight those ideas and put them on paper, but generally
they are a meeting to discuss; so they do not necessarily
       have minutes.

  Q. So the policy-making body of McDonald's Restaurants Limited
in the UK does not automatically minute its meetings?
       A. Does not automatically minute its meetings. It would
record things they are going to process, that they are
       going to progress.

  Q. So minutes, or some kind of recording of the matters that
       are relevant, are taken?
       A. Sorry, repeat that question.

  Q. I am sorry you said if it was something that was going to
       progress?
       A. Yes.

  Q. In other words if it was something that was relevant that
needed to be recorded --- examined.
