volunteers. If somebody found themselves in that position
where they were financially dependent, significantly
financially dependent upon that, then obviously we are
asking for volunteers and they would not want to go.

MR. MORRIS: Just to sum up the situation, for a start, it is
not one out of 55, is it, because we are talking about
full-timers, and full-timers are something round
       20 per cent?
       A. Sorry, in terms of the way the payslip was given to me
as one payslip out of a total payroll staff of 55.

  Q. But we are only talking about full-timers.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We can cross out the 70 or 80 per cent of
part-timers, because they are not, realistically, in the
field for working more than 39 hours. So what is being put
to you is that it is one person out of, say, 10 or 11 or a
dozen full-timers working more than 39.

MR. MORRIS: At least one, that is.
       A. The one that I have in front of me, obviously. But,
equally, there could be 29 out of the remaining 30 whatever
who are not working it. So it is one out of 30 now.

  Q. When you said before on oath that nobody -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let me just follow that up. Where do you get
       your 29 or 30 from?
       A. Sorry. I was thinking back in terms of when I was at
Leicester, 70/30, sorry. In terms of 30 per cent of 50,
then it is going to be less than that -- my apologies --
       20, 14, 15.

  Q. It is going to be 15 or 16, something of that kind?
       A. Less than 10 per cent, I think it is.

MR. MORRIS: If it was 20 per cent, it would be something like
       12 or 13.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you remember Colchester -- you may have
told me on Friday -- what proportion there were full-time
       and what part-time?
       A. I think the ratio was very similar in terms of either
60:40 or 70:30, but I could not remember specifically.

MR. MORRIS: Do you know what the ratio is nationally?
       A. No.

  Q. Were the stores in Leicester and Colchester any different
from stores nationally, in terms of ratio of full-time and
       part-time?
       A. Not to my knowledge, they were not.

  Q. You have a wide knowledge, presumably, of the Midlands and
       West?
       A. I have now, certainly.

  Q. There is nothing that would strike you as unusual about
Leicester and Colchester stores in terms of part-time and
