Day 185 - 07 Nov 95 - Page 35
fired, and I do not know what day.

Q. She left around that time?
A. I do not know. I cannot remember.

Q. Right. Do you know anything about Cam Ballantyne firing --
fairly soon after he took over the store, he fired a woman
for criticising one of the Managers who had said, "People
here are thinking you are getting a little bit bitchy";
someone had criticised one of the Managers in those terms;
and she got fired even though she had been employed for six
years at the store? Do you remember that incident?
A. No, I do not.

MR. MORRIS: Right. That is all I have, I think.

MS. STEEL: Could I ask briefly about the business about people
asking about what mood Rob was in when they came in for
work? You said yesterday that the only reason for that was
that if he was in a bad mood they would make sure -- "We
would make sure we did not do anything stupid that we used
to do with John Tingley." Are you saying by that that when
he was in a good mood you would do the stupid things you
used to do with John Tingley?
A. No. If he was in a good mood, we would just joke
around with him, not that we would do stupid things.

Q. When he was in a bad mood, people were in fear of him, were
they not?
A. I do not know. I never was. I never had a problem
with Rob.

Q. You also said yesterday something about when John Tingley
was the Manager, crew would serve any kind of food; and
then you said -----
A. No. John Tingley was an owner.

Q. Owner, sorry -- "I do not know if I should be saying
this." Is there some reason why you should not be saying
it?
A. Well, it is not the best thing to say about McDonald's,
that when John Tingley was there we were serving food that
was not hot and fresh. I mean, that is not something
McDonald's is about.

Q. So the idea is to try and put as good a picture of
McDonald's as is possible?
A. No, I am not trying to do that. I am just telling you
the truth.

Q. You have come here, have you not, to help McDonald's off
the hook and to try and put them in the best possible light
that you can?
A. The reason I came here is because Cam asked me if I was
willing to testify in this case and to tell my story about
what I did and why I did it, you know, what I did to stop
the union and why I did it. I did not come here for any
other reason.

Q. Just one final question. You said, in the first page of
