MR. JUSTICE BELL: Right. Very well. Then what more have you
got to cover with Mr. Nicholson?

MS. STEEL: I do not know; there is quite a lot.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But what areas have you got to cover with him?

MS. STEEL: There are questions relating to the various leaflets
which are in the publication bundles and I am not, by any
stretch, going to go through every single one but there are
some questions that I want to ask in relation to that.
I have actually got quite a lot of questions and the
problem is that I am pretty disorganised, mainly because
I spent the whole of last night doing the appeal, which had
to be in, basically, so I have not had time to sort
everything out, but there are quite a lot more questions.

MR. MORRIS: Can I say something while Helen is trying to sort
her papers out. It is not directly relevant to this court
but it is about the appeal. When we went to the appeal
office on Tuesday, we finished early, if you remember, this
week. They were not ready to send us the papers even
though the deadline was this Friday, the forms without
which you cannot apply for leave to appeal, and we
virtually had to have a sit-in in the office and refused to
leave until we got the forms. What we understand is that
you had indicated you would ask them to ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I wrote a letter to Mr. Adams saying that you
led me to believe you wanted to seek leave to appeal.

MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I cannot remember now, although I kept a copy
of the letter, I think I may have indicated that I was not
going to hold up the trial pending that but, again, I would
be grateful if the matter could be dealt with as soon as
possible.

MR. MORRIS: We appreciate that. I appreciate that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am just trying to tell you what my
recollection is of what I wrote.

MR. MORRIS: What worries me is that here we have an appeal limit
of 28 days. We have a case that is current with a judge
who has actually written to the Appeal Office, and that we
have no prospect of getting the papers in time to actually
lodge our application for the appeal.

MS. STEEL: Before the deadline.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I cannot say anything about the running of
the Court of Appeal. There is nothing I do. I cannot
extend your time or anything like that.

MR. MORRIS: I understand that. I just think it is an
administrative worry really, but that is why we are a
