Day 074 - 16 Jan 95 - Page 40

       A. 10 to 15 minutes, 15 to 20 minutes; it depends on who
is performing it, because if it is a person who is over 40
year old, then he might take a little longer then if it is
a younger fellow; he would just walk around a lot quicker
        -- I am 40.

  Q. They pick up all the rubbish, not just McDonald's rubbish?
       A. Yes, they were instructed to pick up all the rubbish.

  Q. They would have to sprint around it, would they not, to get
       around it that fast?
       A. Actually, I have seen many people, some people go
       faster.

  Q. Running?
       A. They would not run; they would not run. Nobody will
run. They would walk faster if it is cold outside, but if
it is sunny they will take a little bit longer.

  Q. What are they instructed to look for? I mean, how are they
instructed to carry this out? Are they instructed to look
between cars, cross the road and check both sides of the
       streets or what?
       A. Basically, you go around and you pick up whatever is
visible to yourself. You do not peep into other people's
cars. Whatever is on the pavement or whatever you can see
next to the cars where the cars are parked over there.

  Q. But they just walk down one side of the street, do they,
with the exception of the one that is the cul-de-sac?
       A. They will walk -- they will see the other side but
maybe on the Smith Street may not be on the other side,
they may not cross over. Because, at the end of the day,
you have to look at the safety aspect of your employees
       too.

  Q. The streets are not that busy; it is not that dangerous
       crossing the streets then?
       A. Yes, but if it is right in the middle of the street
something, your employees might be tempted to pick it up.

  Q. If they walk down one side of the street and there are cars
parked on both sides, they are not going to see what is on
the pavement on the far side, are they?
       A. I think McDonald's environment/index.html">litter or McDonald's package is
quite colourful; you can see it if there is anything. But,
if it is under the tyre or something, yes, I am sure that
       they cannot.

  Q. If there is a car in the way, sideways on and, I do not
know, say the piece of environment/index.html">litter is the other side of that car
by the door, they are not going to see it at all, are they,
whether or not it is under the car?
       A. Yes, that is a possibility.

  Q. The streets in that area are usually full of parked cars,
       are they not?
       A. Sometimes on Saturdays, on Saturdays, but otherwise you
could find parking really easily because the residents,
they move out, they go to work or wherever, so there is no
