Day 271 - 01 Jul 96 - Page 05

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Does that accord with the--

MS. STEEL: There were a couple of bits where it was slightly
different. It is actually quite hard to follow it, and
when it first started I did not catch up with it straight
away because I was not sure where it was starting.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. What I suggest you do is take a
photocopy of that, anyway, when I rise and then, Mr. Riley,
if you can just put mine back on top of that volume, and if
at any stage - you have got your own copy of the video have
       you?

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. That is the defendant's copy.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I will rely upon that transcript there,
unless and until you tell me that there is--

MR. MORRIS: There is nothing significant. There was some small
       bits missed out.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You only need draw it to my attention if you
think it has some significance if there is a difference.

MR. MORRIS: Shall I point out the bits we wish to rely on and
which page numbers they are on?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you like. What I suggest is, photograph
my copy clean when I rise in a moment and if you want to
highlight in yellow once it has been photocopied clean the
parts you want to rely on.

  MR. MORRIS: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You can then show to it Mrs. Brinley-Codd so
that she knows and can tell Mr. Rampton. All of which will
probably take about quarter-of-an-hour after I have left
       Court.

MR. MORRIS: Or I can read them out now and everyone will know.

MR. RAMPTON: No, because I do not have a copy.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, do it that way. Make yourself one or two
clean copies with Mr. Riley's help. If you could not mind
helping, Mr. Riley, with the photocopying. Then on one of
the copies, the one already punched which is mine,
highlight the bits you particularly have in mind. Show
that to Mrs. Brinley-Codd with one of the photocopies, so
that she knows and can instruct Mr. Rampton accordingly,
and then I am going to put it back somewhere near the front
of defendant's supplementary list of documents bundle 6.

MR. MORRIS: Except it will be a Civil Evidence Act notice, so
may be it will be better to put it in the defendant's Civil
Evidence Act notices, because it is evidence rather than a
       document.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you like.
