Day 142 - 26 Jun 95 - Page 57
Australia from the mid-70s. So what this would to be,
although I do not have ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause there because Mr. Morris can
suggest to you, if he wishes, what was actually going on in
1993.

MR. MORRIS: Do you know anything specifically though about the
case in or around 1993 in the State of Victoria?
A. No, I would not. I have never been in Victoria and I
do not know the specifics of that matter.

Q. You were in Australia in the 1970s on, what, a couple of
occasions?
A. Yes, I was.

Q. Which areas were you in?
A. I was in Brisbane, Queensland and I was in New South
Wales, Sydney.

Q. In about 1977?
A. I do not recall exactly when it was, but if anybody is
a historian I can tell you a very significant event. The
day I landed in Australia the Prime Minister Whitlom was
sacked by the Queen's ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: By the Government General.
A. Yes, and that was the day I arrived in Brisbane. I had
arrived first in Sydney, taken another plane on to
Brisbane. That was the day I arrived. So whatever that
date is, my Lord.

MR. MORRIS: Did you advise McDonald's in Australia about Labour
Relations matters?
A. We had a very specific problem that was occurring.
That is why I was asked to go to Australia, because the
Australian company had no one with any experience at all in
Labour Relations and was relying solely upon outside
counsel. They wanted someone from the States to provide
them with some assistance in the problem they had.

Q. Which was what?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I am not sure about this. The only
pleaded incident in Australia occurs in two places in the
pleading, but they are both the same event: Canberra,
Australian capital territory, during the 1980s. We cannot
have Mr. Morris fishing for something we have ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Put what it is you suggest happened in
Brisbane and identify it by a pleading or a statement if
you can.

MR. MORRIS: What was the labour problem ----

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord. I am objecting to that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: At the moment I am against you asking that.
If you can put a basis for asking do so, but I have offered
you the first and obvious and, subject to any argument only
