Day 263 - 14 Jun 96 - Page 55
and I will ask him about that in a moment -- in mistake we
blotted out both the date of the report and the identity of
the reporter.

Before we look at this report, Mr. Russell, can I ask you
the method by which you conveyed the information which you
had obtained at the meeting to Kings so that they could
compile this report?
A. Yes. I did not take written notes at the time, but, as
I think I said before, I completed this report either that
evening or first thing the following morning. I cannot
remember where, whether I went back to Kings' office or
whether I went home to do it, but I recall being in the
office the very next day in the morning to hand in my typed
report to Mr. Hartley.

Q. We notice that it is dated 27th April, which is the day
after your visit. So that I need not go through the whole
of it, have you read this report from Kings recently?
A. I have glanced at it, yes.

Q. So far as you are aware, does it contain anything which
strikes you as being contrary to your recollection of the
occasion?
A. Well, I seem to have names there which I cannot recall
now.

Q. If you look down at the page we see that you report that
you went to 6 Endsleigh Street -- in fact, at seven o'clock
rather than 7.30 -- on 26th April, 1990 in order to attend
the public meeting. If we look down the first page
underneath "Agenda", there is "Introduction" as a
subheading; do you see that?
A. Yes.

Q. Then it says, "The chairman, Jonathan", can you call him to
mind at this stage?
A. Vaguely, yes. He may have been a New Zealander. I am
not sure. It is difficult.

Q. "... asked those present to introduce themselves. On his
right sat Jane." Do you recall her to mind?
A. No, not really, no.

Q. "... allegedly from the Finchley area and the minute taker
who said he was Geoff from Stamford Hill". What about him,
do you remember him?
A. No.

Q. "A man was present who did not give his name, although he
said that he was from Kings Cross. He was aged 45 to 50
years with a slight Australian or New Zealand accent and he
had clearly not attended London Greenpeace meetings
before. I introduced myself as Jack from Mitcham". Is
that right?
A. That is correct, yes.

Q. Did anybody give any surnames, or was it all first names?
A. First names.
