Day 068 - 16 Dec 94 - Page 26

MR. MORRIS: You said they export a lot of prime cuts?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Primary cuts.

MR. MORRIS: Is it primary cuts?
       A. Yes.

  Q. They are especially good quality?
       A. They are a higher price.

  Q. So McDonald's would not mind if some of that got mixed in?
       A. We would.

  Q. You would?
       A. Yes, because it produces a different flavour.

  Q. So the McDonald's line does not run all week, then, or it
only runs on one or two days?
       A. We have grown in Costa Rica; we have added, I think, two
restaurants in the last year. The first time that
I visited, we had only six. It has been growing. We are
now working with another supplier, primarily; they are
probably running right now a couple of days for us at most.

  Q. Coope Montecillos?
       A. Coope Montecillos, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So you are still with Coope Montecillos?
       A. Yes. We are in the process of -----

  Q. ----- moving over, but they are still doing a couple of
       days a week?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: So was there a time when they were doing seven days
       a week?
       A. No, they have never -- at that level, there has never
       been a need.

  Q. When I say "seven", maybe that is an exaggeration. Was
there a time when they were doing five days a week?
       A. Not constantly. There have been times where, let us
say, we have a special promotion and we expect our sales to
be higher; so, yes, we could.

MR. MORRIS: So, for example, how many days on average -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am afraid I am going to have to ask you
come to the point you are trying to make on this.
I still cannot see why we particularly had to go into the
machinery. You have really got to come to the point.
I cannot see any reason why we have to look into just the
number of days. If there is a reason, I should have
thought you could come to it straightaway now. If there
was a point about the machinery, I would have thought you
could come to that straightaway. You are entitled to do a
bit of exploring, but we really cannot just explore every
possible fact, regardless of its relevance or otherwise to
       an issue in the case.
