Day 189 - 20 Nov 95 - Page 34

Q. The strike at Grafton Street did not begin until the end of
the month, did it -- the picket -- about a fortnight later?
A. It may have been. I cannot remember exact dates.

MS. STEEL: I think it was actually five days later, and I think
that is on the face of the documents.

MR. RAMPTON: The picket began at Grafton Street -- if you do
not know the answer, tell me -- with people who were not
employees of McDonald's; am I right?
A. Pardon?

Q. The picket at Grafton Street began with people who were not
employees of McDonald's?
A. They were employees of McDonald's.

Q. Eventually?
A. O'Connell Street.

Q. No, no, Grafton Street.
A. They were initially the people from O'Connell Street;
also, we had a picket on Grafton -- it was the same
company.

Q. But the people who originally started picketing at
Grafton Street were not from the Grafton Street restaurant,
but from the O'Connell Street restaurant?
A. Yes, as far as I remember, yes.

Q. When you were picketing at O'Connell Street, you were
joined by a number of people who were never employees of
McDonald's; am I right?
A. Often, your Lordship, people would come done on the
picket line, people who just wandered off the street. It
was very hard to control, really. There were times we
could not do much about that.

Q. Do you remember two people called Gerard Lynch and
Paul Callaghan?
A. No.

Q. You do not?
A. No, not at all.

Q. You do not remember them going off the picket line and into
the O'Connell Street restaurant and beating up the Manager
with picket signs?
A. No. I was not there.

Q. You were not there. You remember the girl Maria Walsh, do
you not?
A. Yes.

Q. She was originally on the picket with you?
A. Yes, she was, yes.

Q. You, her, and I think five others -- five originally?
A. There was a little more.
