Day 125 - 12 May 95 - Page 48
A. Yes. We would have a consulting relationship. If
I had a problem, let us say, with a supplier, to be
specific, to give you an example, if I had a problem with a
supplier, or at least it had been reported to me by my
reports or franchisees, that a supplier was not providing
the quality or service that we expected, or something of
that nature, then I would go to the senior officer in
charge of purchasing, convey that information to him, let
him know who was lodging the complaints and he would have
his people in the field to spend time to research that
information, if they were not already knowledgeable of
about that. In most cases, that individual would also get
involved and shore up the situation or address the
situation in a satisfactory manner.

Q. Do you remember the controversy or row or dispute between
George Cohon and Prince Philip regarding sources of
McDonald's beef around 1983/84?
A. I do not recall the controversy between the two. My
only recollection of that time was that I think there was
some false information being disseminated about McDonald's
and the destruction of rainforests. I mean, that is my
knowledge of what was going on. It was false information
being distributed, disseminated.

Q. You did not see any memos or anything at the time regarding
that, that dispute?
A. No. I do not understand why there would be memos.
There were no memos and there should not have been any
memos about that.

MR. MORRIS: That is it. Thank you very much.

Re-Examined by Mr. Rampton Q.C.

Q. Mr. Beavers, in reverse order, two questions: First of
all, the five suppliers of patties which you mentioned or
the four that you mentioned and one which you were reminded
of, I think their names were OSI or Otto & Sons?
A. Yes.

Q. Pabst?
A. Correct.

Q. Normac?
A. Normac Foods.

Q. Normac which used to be Anderson Meats?
A. That is right.

Q. Golden State?
A. Golden State Foods.

Q. And Lockman?
A. And Lockman.

Q. You said one of those was run by a minority; what did you
mean by that?
A. Normac Foods, which used to be Anderson, the original
owners wanted to sell their business and brought that to
