Day 277 - 10 Jul 96 - Page 28

       Endsleigh Street"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And this is September 1990 is it not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And so, in effect, every meeting of London Greenpeace was
       an open meeting?
       A. Every meeting was open to anybody to attend if they
wished to get involved with the group, yes.

  Q. Yes?
       A. But they weren't advertised as public meetings.

  Q. Can you -- I am sorry, we have got, I am afraid, a bit of a
paper chase ahead of us, but that is inevitable. Can I ask
you to look at volume pink 1A and turn, please, to tab 73.
It is the last paragraph but one that I would like you to
look at. Is it called 'Introduction'?
       A. No.

  Q. This document?
       A. No.

  Q. Sorry, page 204. I am afraid there is more than one
document in 1A 73. 204 stamped at the bottom.
       A. Yes.

  Q. This, I think, is part of the programme for the London
       Greenpeace fayre in October 1990?
       A. Certainly looks like it, yes.

  Q. Yes, well, it is an introduction. Can I ask you to look at
the last paragraph but one? I will read the whole of it,
but it is the second part I am interested in. It says,
"This is where we differ from our namesake Greenpeace
International, from whom we are totally independent. While
they undoubtedly do a lot of good work their 'supporters'
are expected to do no more than donate money to the central
office where it will be used by the 'professionals'. We,
on the other hand, have an activist membership. People
join the group by coming to our weekly meetings where they
can get involved with planning campaigns. We want to
encourage as many people to get involved as possible and
also to start similar groups where they live. Ultimately,
we would like to see a whole network of Eco-anarchist
       groups."

That is exactly the nature, or was, of London
Greenpeace when you were a member of it, was it not,
actively planning and carrying out campaigns?
       A. People joined the group by coming to our weekly
meetings where they can get involved with planning
campaigns. That is exactly what I was saying earlier.
Obviously, people get involved with the group, individuals
       get involved in certain campaigns.

  Q. And if 30 people turn up in support of a particular
campaign then one can say fairly, can one not, that they
have become involved with that campaign; do you agree?
