Day 192 - 27 Nov 95 - Page 33

started to dwindle again; and, you know, at that point a
fellow asked to organise again, you know, because Cam and
Rob had promised that, you know, things would not go back
to the way they used to be, and people believed them,
obviously, and they voted for them.

  Q. Did they go back to the way they used to be?
       A. Yes, they did; and I believe that is why this guy asked
       us to organise it again.

  Q. Coming to the Labour Board hearings on 1st November 1993,
when they started; is that correct?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Sorry, one last thing about the crew meeting. Sorry.
Forget the crew meeting. Were you present at that first
day of the Labour Board hearings?
       A. November 1st, 1993, yes, I was.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When you say someone asked you to organise
       again, who was that?
       A. It was Christian Zan Wick de Haus.

  Q. A member of the crew?
       A. Yes. He went to the anti-union -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. All I wanted to know was whether it was
a crew member or not. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Had he been one of the ones who had turned
       anti-union?
       A. Yes.

  Q. When you heard the company position -- the company position
for the Labour Board hearing, was that read out on the
       first day, on 1st November?
       A. Yes -- on a number of issues.

  Q. Now, is it true that Cam Ballantyne said that under
18-year-olds should not be able to join a trade union?
       A. Yes. That is what his angle of the case was from the
       first day.

  Q. What was your reaction to that, or what do you think about
       it now?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Does that matter?

MR. MORRIS: I think so, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: In what context in the dispute we have about
       this?

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): What do you think about under
18-year-olds' rights to join a union?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. I have asked you -----

MR. MORRIS: I am asking it in a different way; rather than her
reaction, I am just asking her what she thinks.
