Day 184 - 06 Nov 95 - Page 24
Q. Sorry, carry on.
A. I do not think it is where the store wants to employ
them under 18; I think it is just that we get more
applications of people who are under 18.

Q. Right. So few people over the age of 18 tend to apply for
work there?
A. From what I have seen.

Q. Right. If people at the store, your store, wish to have
guaranteed hours or higher pay, say, even double the pay,
is there any way they can do that at McDonald's?
A. The first part was if they want more hours, is that
what you mean?

Q. Is anyone guaranteed?
A. If they want guaranteed hours, the only thing I know
that they can do is talk to Cam and Patty or Rob, and then
Patty tries her best, and so does Cam, to try to give them
that amount of hours. And as for double pay, I have never
heard of anybody asking for that, so I do not have a clue.
The best thing I could say to them, like, if they said:
"I want double pay", I would say: "Go talk to Cam because
I do not have the authorisation to do it, I cannot do it".

Q. But what I am saying is, someone goes to talk to Cam --
when you were at school and you worked at Northern
Reflections and at McDonald's, did you not get tired?
A. Sometimes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: She was not at school.

MR. MORRIS: Some of the time she was.

THE WITNESS: It was just in June that I was in school and
working the two jobs and sometimes I was tired but it was
just, you know, I never worked Northern Reflections and
then went to work at McDonald's, like, the same day.
I never did that. If I was tired, I was just tired from an
exhausting day.

MR. MORRIS: Just to let us know, in Canada, people under 18,
they are still at school, are they ---
A. Most of them.

Q. -- generally? The people at the store you have talked
about that work at McDonald's, they are generally still at
school, yes?
A. Yes.

Q. Up to the age of 18?
A. Yes.

Q. At least?
A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How many hours a week were you working,
putting McDonald's and Northern Reflections together, say,
in July or August, middle of that summer?
A. I was -- between 30 and 40, but I found that working
