Day 121 - 04 May 95 - Page 52

  Q. You still had an involvement with the Security Department
       throughout that time?
       A. Yes, I did -- not 84 or 85. I got it back in 87.

  Q. What about 86 then?
       A. Sorry.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Does this matter absolutely? I mean, why not
put what you want to put on this?

MS. STEEL: You were involved in 1986 as well?
       A. No, I was not involved in 86. In 86 he was reporting
       to another Vice President.

  Q. Whether crew members get taxi fares home or a taxi called
for them and arranged for them is discretionary, is it
not? It is not something that is automatic?
       A. Those that are going home after close must either have
their own transport to get home, or the Manager or another
crew person will guarantee running them home, and they are
reimbursed for their expenses; or most restaurants had
contracts with taxis to come and pick the crew up and take
them home, or they just simply called a cab for them, but
everybody who finished after close had to have transport
       home.

  Q. Has to?
       A. Yes.

  Q. There have been a number of our witnesses that have said
they have not had transport provided for them to get home?
       A. I cannot comment on that, can I?

  Q. Has it always been the case and does that continue to be
       the case?
       A. I am sorry, what, taxis?

  Q. About transport home?
       A. It certainly was up until 1991. I have never heard
that it has been rescinded, but I cannot say that it has
not because I am no longer involved. But up until 1991 it
certainly was the case, yes. That is it. I cannot add
       anything further to that.

  Q. What is that, sorry?
       A. I just cannot add anything further to that.

  Q. Can you get pink volume XII, please?
       A. Yes.

  Q. If you could turn to tab 43, please?
       A. Yes.

  Q. This is a memo from you dated 19th January 1990 about the
repealing of the Employment Act concerning young people
over school leaving age and under 18. No. 3, it says: "No
young person should work past midnight. This eliminates
the present 10.00 pm deadline for female workers. However,
consideration should still be given to travel arrangements
       home for young persons".
