       fits together.

  Q. Right?
       A. I think the other point that is perhaps worth making,
if I may my Lord, is that when one is thinking about some
of these exposure to cancers and things of that nature,
that environmental pollutants can, of course, be one of the
elements that will damage the DNA, but not necessarily be
responsible for the progression of the cancer.

  Q. Right. I will read out --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Give a reference if you can.

MR. MORRIS: The WHO pamphlet, and Mr. Rampton read to you one
       part?
       A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you have that still up there? It was the
one Mrs. Brinley-Codd handed to you because it was not at
       the back?
       A. I think, yes. I do.

MR. MORRIS: Do you have page 67 which was that table 11 which
       was referred to?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The one with crosses on. Page 67.

MR. MORRIS: Do you have that page?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. We have been through the chart before. If we look at the
middle paragraph starting: "High fat intake is associated
       with cancer at several sites."
       A. Yes.

  Q. "Certainty about the optimum intake in relation to cancer
must await feature research, such as control trials. In
the meantime, international correlation analysis and other
epidemiological data indicates that fact intakes of less,"
and I emphasize less, "less than 30% of total energy, will
be needed," I emphasize, "to attain a low risk of fat
related cancers." Does that seem to you to indicate or
not to indicate a causal relationship between fats and
cancer; certain cancers in the eyes of the World Health
       Organisation report?
       A. Well, it indicates that in the very broadest sense of
causality, I think you understand that view, that reduction
in saturated fats will remove a significant part of the
       cause of that cancer, yes.

  Q. Right?
       A. I think that was the view that was taken by the
Scottish report I referred to earlier because they gave
       figures on it.

  Q. Right. It just says at the bottom of the page:
"Nevertheless evidence indicates that a diet that is low
in total and saturated foods, high in farmed foods,
especially green and yellow vegetables and citrus fruits
