Day 260 - 11 Jun 96 - Page 30

  Q. OK.
       A. I did not have it done because I knew Paul Gravett.

  Q. OK. I think if we move on. I want to ask you something
before be leave 24th May, about the third statement you
made, which would be 8C, I think.
       A. Yes.

  Q. What you have said in paragraph 1, where did you gain that
       understanding from?
       A. Can we be specific about which statement?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is 8C and it is the understanding about
       the -----

MS. STEEL: It is only two paragraphs.
       A. Yes, OK. That understanding came from my report of the
meeting where you were both named to me as signatories to
       the bank account.

  Q. By Anthony?
       A. Yes.

  Q. OK. There is nothing else you can recollect, apart from
       what Anthony said?
       A. Various comments would be made at other times in
meetings generally that, "Oh, Helen has the bank account",
or words to that effect, if a monetary item was discussed,
such as paying a telephone bill, et cetera.

MS. STEEL: Right. If I can just say, actually, for the record,
that I am not disputing that at this time I was one of the
signatories; but Mr. Morris was not.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

MS. STEEL: Now, the meeting on 14th June.

MR. RAMPTON: Page 143, my Lord.

  MS. STEEL:   Neither myself nor Mr. Morris were at this meeting;
that is right, is it not?
       A. I have to have a read, just to remind myself. (Pause)
It would appear that you were not.

  Q. Actually, in your statement, you say a telephone call was
received from Dave Morris. So, presumably, he was not at
the meeting? Well, you would not have thought that the
phone call was from Dave Morris if he had been at the
       meeting, would you?
       A. No. I do not think I have said in my statement. In my
notes, it does not mention him being at the meeting.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can we assume that neither Ms. Steel nor
Mr. Morris were present, if you do not mention them as
       being present?
       A. Yes. If they had been at a meeting, I would have a
       made a note of it.

  Q. Because were specially directed towards that?
