Day 025 - 16 Sep 94 - Page 77

MR. RAMPTON: He has done a short note on styrene. If I can
hand a copy up to your Lordship? It should go into his
statement. He is in yellow Volume V and he is in section
       B, No. 8.

  THE WITNESS: Am I dismissed?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You are released from any further attendance
       at court.

THE WITNESS: May I speak with the defendants about this case,
       sir?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Now you may, yes. We will finish in a
moment. There are just one or two things I want to
mention briefly. Was there anything else?

  MR. RAMPTON: Nothing from me.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The first thing is this: I was prompted to
remember it by your reference to an admission about heart
disease. I am aware that there have been various
admissions. I can remember some of them. It would be
extremely helpful to me if the letters which make the
admissions or the notices which give notice of admissions
could be put in one small bundle or, better still -- there
is no rush about it, except I would like to be reminded in
due course of the terms of the admission with regard to
heart disease -- if we could have a schedule of admissions
just with their terms on however many sides of A4 it
eventually needs by the end of the case. If it can be
compiled as we go along, I can just keep it.

MR. RAMPTON: Certainly we will do that, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The next matter relates to the Defendants'
nutrition witnesses. I have one or two points to make in
relation to that. Mr. Morris, you produced Mr. Jeffery
Cannon's book, or a photocopy of it.

  MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It would be very helpful if you could give
some advance notice of what, if any, actual parts of the
book you are going to refer to. In other words, pages 2
to 54 or whatever, something of that kind. I mentioned
Professor Crawford and possibility of a supplemental
statement. Mr. Lobstein refers to a number of surveys.
Do we actually have copies of the surveys?

MS. STEEL: Which surveys are they?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I did not make a list of them, but if you
look at Mr. Lobstein's statement again you will see that
he has got reference to various surveys made by various
       bodies.

MS. STEEL: I think I have a recollection that there are a
       couple.
