Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 34
transport and the weather was simply too severe.

Q. Do you remember whether or not there was any report back at
a later meeting about the picket or whether or not the
picket had taken place?
A. Yes, I think it was reported the next week and there
was, I think, someone in the group at the time who had a
vehicle who tried to get there, he said. He was the only
one to make an effort and he said that he did not manage
it.

MR. RAMPTON: Well, my Lord, again I am afraid that is hearsay.
Mr. Gravett can say that he did not go on any picket that
year, but that is as far as, I am afraid, it can go.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: You did the leaflet for this picket?
A. Yes.

Q. Did you intend to go on the picket?
A. Yes, I intended to, yes.

Q. Just to make it absolutely clear, did you go on the picket?
A. No, no, no, and no one else I heard ever said that
they did.

Q. Right.
A. No one has ever said to me that they ever went on that
picket.

Q. Can you turn to tab 24.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would like you to just pause for a moment,
if you would.

MS. STEEL: Sorry. This is a press release in 1988 about
October 16th World Day of Action?
A. Yes.

Q. And it says that it was falling on a Sunday that year. Do
you know whether or not there was a picket organised by
London Greenpeace for World Day 1988?
A. No, to the best of my knowledge there was not a picket
at the head office that year.

Q. Would you have known if there had been a London Greenpeace
picket?
A. Yes, of course, I would, because I was the organiser
of the pickets that year and we -- it fell on a Sunday, I
seem to remember, and so the head office would not have
even been open, and we just did the usual west end
branches, Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road.

Q. Right. So there was pickets of west end branches of
McDonald's?
A. Yes.

Q. If you can go to tab 47 please.
A. Yes.
