MR. JUSTICE BELL: All I would do is, if it is not difficult to
obtain them I would urge you, it is a matter for you to
decide in consultation with Mr. Atkinson and Mrs.
Brinley-Codd, I would urge you to produce that which can be
produced without great delay or expense and then we will
see where that takes us.

I think we should get on now with Miss Laporte because
we are hoping to finish her evidence today.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, yes. One other thing, Mr. Bishop, to
whom we have spoken, he says that he could not possibly say
after all this passage of time that his note of what he
thought Ms. Steel had said was not misremembered or
misunderstood or misheard.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest is that there is no need to
recall Mr. Bishop, so long, Ms. Steel, as you are proposing
to go into the witness box and to give evidence on that
point, because the reality of the matter is that if you
give evidence in the form I anticipate, that will be
conclusive on that point in the light of what Mr. Rampton
has just said.

JANE LAPORTE, Sworn
Examined by the Defendants

MS. STEEL: Can you give your full name to the court, please?
A. My name is Jane Augustine Tui Laporte. That is T-U-I.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have a naturally soft voice, Miss
Laporte, so do your best to speak up, please.

MS. STEEL: If you want to sit down.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. If you sit down speak up before you do
sit down, would you like to get pale blue 1C up above your
right shoulder there?

MS. STEEL: Can you tell the court your current occupation,
please?
A. I am a classics student at UCL.

Q. What are you studying?
A. Greek and Latin classics. Sorry.

Q. If you can try and keep your voice up.

MR. RAMPTON: I really cannot hear at all, my Lord.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: She said she is reading classics at UCL.

MS. STEEL: If you can find it, I to not know what tab your
statement is?
A. 5, I think. Yes.

Q. You have found your statement?
A. Yes.
