Day 248 - 13 May 96 - Page 12

       A. Well, I cannot say for sure, there may be things I have
talked about related to an article with the lawyers that
has no thought of ever being in a litigation asking an
opinion or a thought, they are making a comment to them.
Again, it is a very broad in-general statement, but, as
I said earlier, Mr. Nicholson deals with it for the most
part. When it comes time to saying proceed or stop, or
take some other course of action, I will interject myself.

  Q. Right. I mean, I am trying to find out if you are the
right person to ask questions about other actions that the
       Company has brought or not.
       A. It depends what they are.

  Q. OK. There is a file -- it should be behind you, a pink one
       entitled "words complained of".
       A. You have a number?

  Q. It has not got a number on it, probably towards the
       beginning of them, I think.

MR. MORRIS: It is pink. It says "words complained of" on the
       side.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It does not have a number on it.

MS. STEEL: If you just look at the index for now, there is a
whole list of either magazines or newspapers or programmes
or just student groups, green groups, things like that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Can you confirm these are all organisations that McDonald's
has threatened to sue or has sued?
       A. They could be, I do not know just by looking at the
list. My memory is not that good.

  Q. Right. Are there any you know were definitely people who
you have threatened action against or taken action against?
       A. We certainly had action with The Guardian. We had
issues over Jungle Burger. We certainly had issues over
Bournemouth Advertiser, we spoke about that last week.
Veggies, we spoke about earlier last week.

  Q. Are they the only ones you know about?
       A. Well, without reading a bit more, the BBC Sheffield,
I think, was something on rainforests. I do not remember
       most of them.

  MR. MORRIS: Transnational employment?
       A. Transnationals, yes, OK, that one I remember.

MS. STEEL: Do you remember Spitting Image?
       A. I know the television show, I cannot remember the
       specific incident.

  Q. I think that one is with a solicitor's letter, so you do.
They all appear to be... Well, not all of them, but the
vast majority of them appear to be action that you took in
1989/90. Was it basically around 1989 that you decided
that you were going to start basically threatening all
