Day 008 - 07 Jul 94 - Page 71

1 a long time and Mr. Kouchoukos took double the length from
Mr. Rampton what he originally expected -- sorry, not Mr.
     2 Kouchoukos, Mr. Langert.

3 So I just think what we need to do is -- I did suggest
this to Mrs. Brinley-Codd yesterday -- the programme is
4 redrafted, the schedule is redrafted, so that we are not
              panicking everyday on how to desperately fit people in;
5 that we do have a significant break between each issue,
which will be to our benefit, but will also mean there is
6 some flexibility so we are not all falling over each other
              to contact the witnesses.
     7
I think it would be good to build in these breaks which
8 everyone agrees is a good idea; maybe just redraft the
schedule, because it is not going to plan at the moment.
9 Obviously that is a job we would feel unable to do. It is
daft us telling our witnesses "such and such is starting
10 on such and such a date" when they are clearly not going
              to.
    11
MR. JUSTICE BELL: How long are you suggesting? Suppose we
12 finish the recycling and waste witnesses, except for
Mr. Mallinson and Mr. Hopkins, by Thursday of next week --
13 that is you cross-examine Mr. Langert tomorrow; we have
such environment/index.html">litter witnesses as can attend on Monday; you may
14 have a short day then so you may get away early; you have
Professor Duxbury, Mr. Oakley in relation to recycling and
15 waste, and Mr. Lipsett on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
I am not sitting in this court -- sorry, on Tuesday,
16 Wednesday and Thursday -- I am not sitting in this court
              on Friday.
    17
MISS STEEL: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you are not
    18 sitting?

19 MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are
Professor Duxbury, Mr. Oakley and Mr. Lipsett; Friday I am
20 not sitting; Monday at the moment is blank.

21 MR. RAMPTON: It is Mr. Horowitz at the moment; he has been
              moved from Friday.
    22
MISS STEEL: Mr. Horowitz is partly nutrition as well, is he
    23 not?

24 MR. RAMPTON: Yes, that is the next topic.

25 MR. JUSTICE BELL: I want you to suggest now -- I am not going
to make any comment on it but Mr. Rampton can hear it,
26 then I will rise -- if we have, come Thursday afternoon,
finished Professor Duxbury, Mr. Oakley and Mr. Lipsett,
27 what period of time are you asking for before we go on to
              any substantial witness on nutrition?
    28
MR. MORRIS: Nutrition is a massive----
    29
MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is an important topic.
    30
         MR. MORRIS: - topic.
