Day 206 - 22 Jan 96 - Page 57

MR. MORRIS: Just to go back to something that came up before,
is there any written policy stated by McDonald's about the
number of days in a row that someone can be scheduled for?
       A. I am not aware of any.

  Q. Going back to your statement: Danny Olive; the letter of
Danny Olive which you did not see, was it discussed at a
Managers' meeting, or anything like that?
       A. No. The first time I have seen this letter is when it
was handed to me this morning.

  Q. When a letter of this nature is written -- which, I am sure
you will accept, it has very serious allegations about the
Company in it, yes; whether you agree with them or not is
another matter, but you would accept they are serious
       allegations?
       A. I do accept that he wrote the letter, yes.

  Q. Are you accepting that they are serious allegations? It
does not bother me if you do not accept it, because I will
       say that they are.
       A. OK.

  Q. Would you accept that they are?
       A. (Pause) I would say they were worrying, yes.

  Q. "Worrying"? Are these serious allegations to make of
someone who has been at the store for five years? He was a
       Floor Manager; yes?
       A. That is correct. I believe, yes, he was a Floor
Manager and he joined as a crew member in Gloucester,
       I think.

  Q. He had run shifts as well?
       A. He had run shifts, yes.

  Q. So, are these serious allegations for somebody to make with
that kind of experience? I know it is worrying, but are
       they serious?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is the word he has chosen to use. It is
a matter of comment for you to say that they are serious.

  MR. MORRIS: OK.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Unless the acceptance of them being serious
is absolutely vital to your cross-examination -----

MR. MORRIS: I think it is important.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: In what respect?

MR. MORRIS: As I say, the witness will answer the way he thinks
is most appropriate, because of what I say. I would
       say -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is not "worrying" enough ---

  MR. MORRIS: All right, "worrying".
