Day 275 - 08 Jul 96 - Page 32

discussed just because people will think we are only going
to have to go through it again next week if we discuss it
when there is only a couple of people here.

Also, obviously, the fewer people there were there the
fewer different campaigns would be referred to. Because
       people had different interests.

Okay, moving on to page 95, which is Alan Clare.

MR. MORRIS: Sorry, what date is that one?
       A. 15th March 1990. What Mr. Claire says in paragraph 1
is completely incorrect. I attended demonstrations against
the poll tax in Hackney, Islington. There was not one in
Tottenham, I do not think, and Lambeth and Brixton are the
same place. There weren't even riots in all those places,
and I certainly did not say what he has suggested there.
Of all of them I only recall any trouble in Hackney, and
that was only something that I heard about.

The second paragraph B, I have never heard Paul refer
to Allgate Press as 'organic press', and I am sure I would
have noticed if he had because I knew that the name of the
printing company was Allgate Press. It is my recollection
that the 10,000 leaflets that were printed by mistake were
the A5 leaflets, they definitely weren't the fact sheets.
I do remember, I can't specifically remember when it was,
that the fact sheets ran out. However, I do remember that
some time, quite some time, before the writs got served,
that Paul, or I think it was Paul it could have been
somebody else, but I am pretty sure it was Paul, brought up
at a meeting that they had run out, basically, and asked if
anybody had any at home could they bring them in because
they needed them for answering letters.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause a moment? Yes?
       A. I think the next page I want to refer to is on page
       109.

  Q. Well, that is Mr. Pocklington 19th April is it?
       A. Yes. I mean, this probably does not matter actually,
but just the bit where it says about -- no, it does not
       matter, it is not important.

The next one, I think, is page 116D. This is
Mr. Bishop's note of 17th May 1990. I was not actually at
this meeting, I do not think, but just where Mr. Bishop
says about "having suggested a title for the meeting of
anarchism versus socialism and to his surprise the idea was
accepted", just to say that that does not surprise me at
all. Because the way the group worked was that anybody who
came along to a meeting could have input and everybody's
views would be respected. They would be listened to and
they could have, well, yes, just they could have input.
There was not any kind of hierarchy, if you have been
involved for so long then we have to bow to your wishes or
anything like that. In fact, you know, whenever it was
expressed, the wishes of people at the meetings were that
anyone could get involved. Rather than feeling -- well
that was basically what the group was about, it was about
