MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you. Do you want to ask about -----

MR. MORRIS: Paragraph E, yes. I am sure he can explain.
(To the witness): Can you explain what happened to the
judicial investigation of the Lyon McDonald's managers who
       were arrested?
       A. The directors of the McDonald's restaurants, at the
moment of the works councils elections, brought together
all the employees to tell them that if they voted for the
CFDT the management would have to sack them, and, if they
did not want to be sacked, they would be put under
pressure. It is for this reason that these employees went
to give evidence at the police station and in front of the
       works inspectorate.

  Q. But what happened to the investigation, the judicial
       investigation?
       A. He says the investigation was positive, since the
       directors were put under investigation.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: But what he says at the -----

MR. MORRIS: What was the outcome of it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Ask Mr. Lamti what has happened to the
investigation now. I am sorry, I have fallen into the trap
I have been warning everyone else against. What has
       happened to the investigation now?
       A. This year in France we have had presidential
elections. Everything that comes under the penal code
before judgment has all been amnestied, be it for driving
fines; each new president allows an amnesty.

MR. MORRIS: Is there any current legal action?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Can you just explain what current cases -- what are the
       current cases?
       A. For example, the workers, from the industrial
tribunals, about problems in their payslips.

  Q. Right.
       A. At the moment, there are about 15 hearings actually
       taking place.

  Q. Are they on various matters?
       A. Payslips, redundancy -- several problems.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What did he say after "payslips"?

  THE INTERPRETER: "Redundancy".

MR. MORRIS: These cases have be brought by who?
       A. It is the employees.

  Q. Right. Are there any cases against you?
       A. I have never been asked to appear before the
magistrate. Therefore, McDonald's Lyon have said that they
will be taking action against him. However, this has never
