Day 114 - 04 Apr 95 - Page 64

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I am in some difficulty.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What do you want to do?

MR. RAMPTON: I will ask one or two more general questions, but
really what I would like to do, to give the witness a fair
chance which obviously he has not been given or has not
given himself, I know not which it is, it does not matter,
he really ought to read and pay attention to the evidence
of Ashley Bowes and remind himself also of the evidence of
Dr. Gregory, omitting Sun Valley. Then I can ask a series
of very simple questions, not needing to go into detail
except where the witness leads me and we can be done very
       quickly.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have not brought up my chronology of the
evidence myself made one, but can you identify the days?

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes, I can.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: And can you provide Dr. Long the copies of
       the transcript?

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, we will do that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just of the days, not large bundles.
Dr. Gregory was the end of July.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, he gave evidence on 26th, 27th and 28th
of July, days 18, 19 and 20. My Lord, Mr. Bowes gave
evidence on 13th February of this year, that is the
beginning of week 25 and then he came back to complete his
evidence on Friday 3rd March in week 26. Mr. Chambers was
Monday 6th and 7th March. My Lord, I do believe it was
better use of our time, particularly your Lordship's time,
if Dr. Long is going to come back on Thursday, it does not
actually take very long -- Dr. Long, what I would like you
to do if his Lordship will -----

MR. MORRIS: What does not take very long?

MR. RAMPTON: To read the evidence.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It might take sometime. You obviously read
much more quickly than I do. You can ignore anything about
chickens in Dr. Gregory because you have not been asked
about that in any event for reasons you explained right at
       the beginning.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that means I can give the chicken
references and that will help, tell Dr. Long which bits to
ignore. On 26th July, which is day 18, chickens begin on
page 7 and end on page 25. They begin again on 27th July,
day 19, at page 7. I think they go all the way through to
page 33 on day 20 which is the 28th July. So there is an
awful lot that Dr. Long can ignore in Dr. Gregory's
evidence. As he has read Dr. Gregory once it should not
take all that time to remind himself of the salient
       points.
