  Q. Do you know an organisation, Mr. Bruton, called Animal Aid?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did you speak to them some time before November 1994 last
       year?
       A. I spoke to someone last year -- what date, I cannot
       remember.

  Q. No doubt you told them the same sort of story as you have
       been telling in court today?
       A. I am sorry to say, sir, there is no story. What I have
said today is what I have seen with my own two eyes. If
you would like to ask me the same questions in 20 years
time, I will come back and answer them in the same way as I
have explained myself today, because there are no lies.
What I have seen I have seen.

  Q. I will be quite frank with you, Mr. Bruton, I think you
have been telling lies to this court without any question
whatsoever. Some people, you say, were sacked.

MR. MORRIS: Can Mr. Rampton -- I was asked to say ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is not actually for you to say what you
       think.

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, you are quite right. I put it to
you, if you like, Mr. Bruton, that what you have told is a
       mixture of lies and exaggeration?
       A. Why do you say I am exaggerating?

  Q. Because you were sacked by Sun Valley for dishonesty and
you have a grudge against them?
       A. Could you just say that again, please?

  Q. You were sacked by Sun Valley for dishonesty, not for not
wearing a hat, for obtaining company property by deception?
       A. Where is the evidence that I have company property by
deception and saying I stole property off Sun Valley?

  Q. Did the Police visit your house on Saturday, 22nd May 1993?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did they find in your house in an upstairs room neatly
stored in a cardboard box 49 pairs of yellow ribbed gloves,
       all new, did they?
       A. Were these gloves Sun Valley's?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause a moment. I must give you a
warning about the rights which every witness has before the
matter goes any further. You are perfectly entitled not to
answer any question which is put to you if you think that
the answer may tend to incriminate you for a criminal
       offence, do you understand?
       A. I do, sir, yes.

  Q. You are equally perfectly entitled to answer the question,
but every witness in this country has the right not to
answer a question on the grounds that the answer may
