not finish Dr. Millstone tomorrow. I am sure we shall.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I would like you to do, Mr. Morris and
Ms. Steel, if you are going to ask questions as well, is
direct yourselves to completing Dr. Millstone's evidence
this afternoon. If, at the end of the afternoon, there are
important matters which you think you have not covered tell
me. It seems to me more reasonable to be able to do that.
If you can do it before the end of the afternoon well and
good. It is very important, in my view, that you come back
tomorrow to complete your evidence in one go, but we are
very hopeful that that will be the end of your evidence
       tomorrow, Dr. Millstone.

                      (Short Adjournment)
                                                     2.00 p.m.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. We will try and whack on here. Dr. Millstone
said he would stay until a bit later if we can possibly get
       it over today.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, we will sit a little bit later, if
necessary. The confines on sitting are staff
considerations, not ones personal to me.

MR. MORRIS (To the witness): On the references on BHA and BHT,
you wanted to refer to No. 54, Dr. Millstone. It was a
different one to the one we had before. Which particular
one was it? Was it the urticaria or the dermatitis?
       A. Well, both of those, I think, provide some direct human
       evidence that -----

  Q. This is No. 54 of the references.
       A. Yes, urticaria is a relatively specific type of
dermatitis. Dermatitis is a general inflammation of the
skin. Urticaria is a particular kind of dermatitis, and
both the study by Thune and Granholt in Dermitalogica 75.

  Q. That is the first of the references?
       A. That is the first of them, and the paper by Juhlin in
the British Journal of Dermitology in 1981 report on
dermatological effects that are in some cases ascribed to
       BHA and BHT.

  Q. Just before we look at the specific bits, the last one of
the 54 references in tab 54, is also Hannuksela. Is that
       relevant as well?
       A. Oh, the contact dermatitis paper by -----

  Q. "It is the Peroral Challenge Tests with Food Additives in
       Urticaria and Atopic Dermatitis"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you want to just refer us to may be the most significant
       of those three?
       A. No, I deem them all to be equally significant.

  Q. Do you want to refer us to the relevant abstract or
       whatever?
       A. OK. Let us briefly do that. I think these are
