because I had already met Veggies. I knew the chap who ran
Veggies in Nottingham, and I think it was suggested that at
that time we should just write to him and point out that we
       felt the document was libelous."

So he has clearly seen the leaflet. He actually says -- at
line 36, I asked him: "Presumably, you would have read the
whole thing?" and he said, "Yes."

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I think the next query comes on to the
question of just what was produced by whom when they gave
       their evidence.

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Because the query I have was in relation to
page 6, where he said in his first statement he averred he
took away one of the leaflets complained of from the fair,
and then later he thought that it was on either 26th
October or 2nd November, one of the first two meetings he
went to, that he first saw the leaflet complained of.

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Sorry?

MR. RAMPTON: Sorry, my Lord, your Lordship is asking?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You say what you are going to say. I was
going to ask, what was it that he actually looked at in
       court, if anything?

MR. RAMPTON: It was one of the originals.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Have we got it then?

MR. RAMPTON: We have got all the originals here, I cannot tell
       you what it is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I have not done is actually looked in
Mr. Riley's box, as you called it.

MR. RAMPTON: I would just rather your Lordship had it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will, I will take it away when I reserve my
       judgment.

MR. RAMPTON: This is what I call the tea/coffee stain.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you hand up the folder, as well, that it
was in to see how they are marked?

MR. RAMPTON: Some of them have writing on, some have nothing
and some have -- that one has a tea stain.

MS. STEEL: Actually, there were only two copies in there when
       I checked.

MR. RAMPTON: A number of copies have got lost in the course of
this trial, there is no question about that. I am guilty
