Day 082 - 01 Feb 95 - Page 23
the Plaintiffs are going to finish putting their case on
this, we can start sorting out our witnesses. I understood
there were more from Jarrets and other places.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let me make sure you have what I have. Next
Tuesday, 7th, we go to Mr. Atherton who is instead of
Mr. Wignall. On Monday 13th, we have Mr. Bowes and on
Wednesday 15th we have Mr. Pattison. If there is any
possibility of finishing Mr. Atherton before the end of his
week and starting Mr. Bowes before the Monday, and there
may not for entirely practical reasons, I think the parties
ought to consider that because that may take pressure off
the end of the week ending on Friday 17th. That is how
things are planned at the moment.

We then have the half-term week, Monday 20th to Friday
24th, as preparation time, subject to the rider that if
Mr. Pattison overran I would want to finish him at the
beginning of that week, if he is available, rather than
having him to go off to some future date. Hopefully, the
worst that would mean is the Monday. I have been allocated
to go as judge representative to a conference on the
Tuesday. I only heard that yesterday evening, so I could
not sit on that day. We do not want to run into that week
at all if we can avoid it.

Monday 27th March is Mr. Gomez Gonzales and the whole week
has been allowed for him. Mr. Chambers, I think he is Sun
Valley.

MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, he is Midland Meat Packers.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Midland Meat Packers, thank you.
Mr. Pattison is Sun Valley.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, my Lord. He is a vet.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Chambers is down for Monday 6th and
Tuesday 7th. Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th and Friday 10th
are for such Jarret witnesses as McDonald's may choose to
call. That is what I have written at the moment.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that is, roughly speaking, right.
Anyway, it is the last part of that week that it is our
intention, if we do, to call a Jarret witness or witnesses.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Monday 13th was Mr. Wignall but is now
Mr. Kenny instead of next week. That is as far as I have
written in my schedule as a result of he discussion we had
a few days ago.

MR. RAMPTON: Which, in answer to Ms. Steel's earlier enquiry,
is where the Plaintiffs' witnesses end and the Defendants'
obligation to start calling evidence begins. Therefore,
I repeat my request that we be told who they are going to
be.

MS. STEEL: The reason I made that comment was, as I understood
it, Chambers and Jarrets had not been confirmed and the
Plaintiffs were still deciding whether they were going to
