Day 203 - 12 Jan 96 - Page 21
that I could not afford to give that amount of support to
that restaurant.

Q. So are you saying that the support which the Colchester
restaurant had under Mark Davis you basically withdrew that
support during the time that you were Senior Supervisor?
A. During the time -- I became Supervisor of the
restaurant.

Q. Sorry, Supervisor.
A. Am I saying I withdrew that support?

Q. You did not at the time -----
A. Absolutely not. I am saying that I bent over backwards
and, in fact, I cannot believe how ridiculously I worked to
help Ray Coton as a Manager, and I resent the insinuation
that I did anything otherwise. The guy, I mean, you know
-- I worked a phenomenal amount of hours to help that guy.

Q. You resented ---
A. I do now.

Q. -- doing all that?
A. Yes, I do now, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, he resents the suggestion that he did
not.

MR. MORRIS: But you also resent the fact that you had to keep
going down there and talking to Ray Coton and you said you
do now, looking back?
A. Now I have read what he wrote about me.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You may have heard something, Mr. Morris,
which I did not. I did not think Mr. Skehel said he
resented having to put in the effort. What he said was
that if he was going to supervise five restaurants instead
of four, he could not afford the amount of time which
Mr. Davis had afforded to keeping Colchester going, but
I may well have missed another answer.

THE WITNESS: I resent the insinuation that I withdrew support
for Ray Coton.

MR. MORRIS: I asked you if you resented the amount of ---
A. At the time, no.

Q. -- support?
A. At the time, no, now I do, is my position, and that is
what I said -- more than willing, and I am still more than
willing, to help people who want help, to go out of my way
to help them.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You came to Colchester from Ipswich in
November 1990, Colchester Tolgate?
A. That is right, yes, November 5th.

Q. You were managing one restaurant in Colchester and
Mr. Coton was managing another ------
A. Yes.
