Day 067 - 15 Dec 94 - Page 68

       A. No, there are no others. Just Gisa, and this is only
in the last few months, perhaps around four and six months.

  Q. How much time did you spend in Costa Rica in the last few
       years?
       A. Since?

  Q. Altogether?
       A. Altogether probably about two months. I can tell you,
also I might add, I have not visited, in my travels I have
not visited more often any other country.

  Q. So you are pretty much familiar with what is going on?
       A. That is correct. I have spent an unusual amount of
       time for Costa Rica.

MR. MORRIS: I have got any further questions today, but I would
like just to say a couple of things after the witness has
       gone.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Would you like to go and sit down, Dr. Gomez
       Gonzalez?

                       (The witness withdrew)

MR. MORRIS: Our witness for the paper pulp is a woman called
Anne Link, and she has agreed to do it as from yesterday.
The subjects which she is going to mainly deal with will be
the environmental implications of pulp production, paper
production, pulp and paper production, the forest cover
issue of how much forest it takes for McDonald's packaging,
and also the whole issue of minimal packaging and reusables
versus disposable, that kind of area.

In relation to that last point -- I do not know whether you
want to leave this until our legal day -- we want to apply
for the documents that McDonald's have in their possession
regarding the references they have made in the witness box
to seeing analysis of the reusables versus disposables
issue. I believe two witnesses have referred to them.
There is one of the bundles, it is with the Environmental
Newsletters and it is page 724. I cannot remember what
document it is in, what bundle it is in.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest is, it is half past four, for
all I know when Dr. Gomez Gonzales continues his evidence
tomorrow, there may be reference to other documents, so
what I suggest is you make a list of them and then you
       sweep up at the end.

MR. MORRIS: OK. We do not think that we are going to finish
Mr. Gonzales tomorrow which is a bit of a problem.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. What is the position so far as that is
       concerned, Mr. Rampton?

MR. RAMPTON: The position is that Dr. Gomez Gonzales will
continue his evidence on Monday, if he has to; having said
which, that means, no doubt, Mr. Hopkins will be relieved
from any obligation to attend court.
