levels to just what is needed, then it only takes a slight
-- one or two people to go ill or whatever to cause you to
be short-staffed on that particular shift. So, if you
continue running a very tight ship to keep the costs down
etc., it does not take a great deal for you to be short
staffed and then put everybody else under a lot more
pressure.

Q. You do not remember any specific instances that she seemed
to be alluding to but she could not remember any details?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Quite frankly, I would leave it there because
Mr. Cranna has given his evidence which is consistent with
what some other people have said. I will just have to say
whether it is, in so far as it is relevant, an inherent
risk that if you have fairly tight scheduling it does not
need much of an upset to show. I do not really see how he
can add to the answer he has given. Mr. Rampton can ask
questions about it, if he wishes.

MR. MORRIS: The final question, I think is, do you think that
a Senior Supervisor that phones the store once a week and
visits once every couple of weeks would know the reality of
what is really going on in the store?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that is really not for the witness to
answer; that is for your Lordship.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is for myself to judge -- quite apart
from the fact that in the way you expressed the question,
you told him the answer. I would leave it there,
Mr. Morris.

MR. MORRIS: I have no further questions.

Cross-examined by MR. RAMPTON

MR. RAMPTON: Only a few questions, Mr. Cranna. This statement,
do you have it before you still?
A. Yes.

Q. It was not made for this case, was it?
A. No.

Q. Not originally?
A. Not originally, no, it was ----

Q. It was made for a case much earlier in history, may be
eight years ago, something like that?
A. Yes. I think this was initially done shortly after
I left McDonald's -- about two years after I left,
I believe.

Q. Yes, we noticed that it has some gaps.
A. Yes.

Q. Were those gaps made by you? Did you do the blanking out?
A. I did the blanking out, yes. When I found that, if you
like, the information that I had had been passed on to our
