Day 263 - 14 Jun 96 - Page 54
with enthusiasm about proposals for the London Greenpeace
Fayre on 27th October 1990 at Conway Hall. It was the
third year that the group had organised the Fayre and he
stated that one of the themes would be anti-McDonald's."

Then you said, "The meeting broke up at 10 [in the
evening]. Leaflets placed in piles were collected by me
and by others and I attach at appendix 'JR2' copies of the
leaflets I picked up that day." I will refer you to that
in a minute.

Going back to the previous paragraph, how big was this room
at 6 Endsleigh Street?
A. It is quite a large meeting room. I would say 20 to 25
feet long and 12 to 15 feet wide.

Q. At the time when, as you say, Mr. Morris was controlling
proceedings, what distance would there have been between
you and him?
A. I recall sitting diagonally opposite him at the
meeting.

Q. You were sitting. Was he sitting or standing?
A. We were both sitting.

Q. Do you recognise that document, Mr. Russell?
A. Yes, I do.

Q. When was the first time you saw that document?
A. That evening, the same evening I went to the meeting on
the 26th April 1990.

Q. Where was it?
A. I recall that a lot of leaflets were in piles at the
end of the meeting room table.

Q. Was that one of them?
A. Yes.

Q. How big were the piles?
A. I would say half inch to three quarters of an inch
high.

Q. What did you understand Mr. Morris to mean by the
"customary McDonald's fact sheet"?
A. Well, I understood it to be this very thing here, which
you have given me.

Q. Thank you. Could I ask you now to look at a different
file. It is a blue file, Mr. Riley, right at the end. It
is unlike all the others. My Lord, thanks to an error in
counsel's chambers -- and I do apologise for this -- the
date of this report -- Mr. Russell, please, page 112 of
that blue bundle. (Copies of a document handed out).
Mr. Russell, could I ask you to put that sheet which you
have just received in place of page 112, and if you have a
pen about your person to write 112 at the bottom of it.

My Lord, I apologise. When we prepared this report,
because we do not have any notes for Mr. Russell's visit --
