Day 069 - 19 Dec 94 - Page 32

       A. Not that I am aware of. The reason is that labour is
cheaper, it is cheap, but there are no processing, there
are very few processing facilities in the US. It must be a
US DA approved plant, and it is not located near the border
where it could be economically feasible. So I do not know
any, and I do not think that it will happen.

  Q. If we just move on to El Salvador. This gets raw material
from Guatemala. Do you know whether their suppliers,
Procarne, the Guatemala suppliers are Procasa?
       A. Yes. Sorry -- should be Procasa.

  Q. Procasa is the ---
       A. Guatemala supplier.

  Q. -- Guatemala supplier?
       A. Yes. I misspelt it.

  Q. So you filled in this form?
       A. Yes.

  Q. That should say Procasa?
       A. That is correct.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is there a supplier called Procarne?
       A. Yes. It is in Chile, but I get confused with the name.

MR. MORRIS: So in El Salvador there is a company called
       Procasa, is there?
       A. Sorry. That is in Guatemala.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What he said is that Procarne is a Chilean
supplier; it should have been Procasa, not Procarne, on the
       El Salvador form.

(To the witness) Have I understood what you are saying?
       A. That is correct.

MR. MORRIS: So all the finished products used in El Salvador
for McDonald's come from Procasa in Guatemala?
       A. Not any more.

  Q. They did at this time?
       A. At this time.

  Q. So how many stores are there in El Salvador?
       A. Only three. It might have been just a fraction.

  Q. That is the only one that is down there, is it not, for
       El Salvador?
       A. Yes.

  Q. When was the operation set up in El Salvador?
       A. That was one of the first. McDonald's, you mean?

  Q. Yes.
       A. About 20 years ago.

  Q. Has Procasa, as far as you know, been supplying El
       Salvador?
