Q. I am just using the words in your code about the magic
moments. So, that ruling, that criticism, never made it to
the USA, the fact of that.
A. It did not make it to me.

Q. It did not make it to your department?
A. It did not make it to me. I do not know if anyone else
in my department saw it. No-one brought it to my
department.

Q. If it made its way to your department, it was not felt to
be important enough that you, who are in some of kind of
responsible position, should hear about it?
A. May be it would be best to explain what I thought I
had explained this morning. The majority of my job is
concerned about the United States. The role that I play on
an international basis is to consult in those kinds of
meetings once or twice a year as to what is going around
the world. It is not my role to specifically look at,
judge or work with individual countries. There are other
people that do that.

Q. It was not important enough to bring up in an international
marketing conference which oversees, the general, you know,
themes and the purpose of your advertising?
A. It may well have been important and it may well have
come up in one of those meetings. I do not chair those
meetings and I do not attend them all, the ones that
I attended, I did not hear about this particular case.

Q. OK, if we move on to the next one. You really did not say
if you know anything about the government's concern about
promotion of Happy Meals in Korea?
A. I do not.

Q. Again that goes to something quite fundamental, does it
not?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, what I suggest is this, because you can
make a comment about it, if you wish, later on: It sounds
as if there is not any system -- whether there ought to be
or not Mr. Morris can argue if he wishes later -- for
promulgating adverse court or regulatory authority rulings
in any one country internationally around the McDonald's
system. So, for instance, if in Australia an ad has been
run which is suggesting that blowing agents used are ozone
friendly and there has been regulatory authority criticism
of that, other companies involved in the McDonald's system
around the world might know to beware of using the same
kinds of terms in advertising of their own.
A. I am not aware of a system, at least I am not a
participant if there is a system that does that.

MR. MORRIS: Do you not think that is grossly irresponsible of a
corporation that operates on an international scale not to
be taking note of criticism from established statutory
authorities and bodies?
A. There may be people who do take note of that criticism
in the countries that are involved and in the countries
