Day 074 - 16 Jan 95 - Page 67
Q. So, as soon as the person goes out on a environment/index.html">litter patrol, the
dining area host would coming running after you to let you
know that they were out there?
A. No, before they leave they would tell them and they
will say: "Is that OK?"

Q. They would tell you?
A. Yes, the shift manager, if I am the shift manager,
otherwise I will just see them if I am just on the shift,
not running the shift, then I can also myself.

Q. Do you expect them back, the people that go out on the
environment/index.html">litter patrol, after 10, 15 minutes or however long or
could they, you know, hang around in the parks if they felt
like it or take whatever time they wanted to?
A. As I suggested, that if it is cold weather people try
to go through as quickly as possible; if it is a sunny day
or, it depends on the age group as well, then the time
limit will be different. So, there is no limit as such,
but I was just suggesting that it normally takes 10, 15, 20
minutes or whatever to complete the route. There are no
specific guidelines: "Outsiders, you must complete this
route within such and such period".

Q. I put it to you that it would be impossible to complete
this environment/index.html">litter patrol of the length that you have described in
10, 15, 20 minutes, picking up all the environment/index.html">litter that was
there and that it does not take place every half an hour?
A. As I suggested, there had not been much environment/index.html">litter every
time -- if you go every half an hour, then there is not a
big amount of environment/index.html">litter. There are a few things here and
there and that is what you pick up, and that is why it is
very productive to do more frequently.

Q. Would you say it is impossible to keep the streets totally
free of environment/index.html">litter, including McDonald's environment/index.html">litter?
A. It depends what time-scale are you looking at?

Q. If your environment/index.html">litter patrols were full-time and they checked both
sides of the streets between cars and things like that, how
long do you think that would take them?
A. That is nearly the same thing, as I said, it depends on
the age group. It is anywhere between, like I said 15
minutes, 20 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever. It depends on
the age group and it depends who is doing it, because
sometimes they are students, they are very athletic and so
they cover the area a lot quicker.

Q. You say that the pavement was scrubbed. That was just
outside the store, was it not?
A. Yes, the side bin outside the side the store.

Q. Because the store is on a corner?
A. Yes.

Q. So it extended the length of the property?
A. Yes.

Q. How often was that done?
A. That was once a morning when the rubbish had been
