Day 202 - 11 Jan 96 - Page 24
A. We would be concerned that anything was a C. A failure
would be an E or an F.

Q. Right. Mr. Coton, when he left, said that he was
dissatisfied with supervision, did he not?

MR. RAMPTON: Again, this is a single page document, and
I insist, if I may, your Lordship's -----

MR. MORRIS: I am asking for your recollection first.

MR. RAMPTON: Let the witness be shown the document.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Show the witness first.

MR. RAMPTON: It is the last document in the Ray Coton file.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Page 67, pale blue volume 2, please.

MS. STEEL: I do not think that this is a proper course of
action. If Mr. Morris wants to ask the witness if he
recollects Mr. Coton saying that he is dissatisfied with
his supervision, then he is entitled to do that, whether or
not he wants to put the document.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let him see the letter, so that he has the
full picture, rather than just ---

MR. RAMPTON: But it does not matter -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- the advocate's, (which is what Mr. Morris
is at this moment in time), the advocate's selected
impression from it.

MS. STEEL: It was a simple question, though. It was not a
question of selected impressions. I do not think that
Mr. Rampton should keep objecting to Mr. Morris' perfectly
reasonable questions, which have, you know, objections
which have no basis in law.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Please sit down, Ms. Steel. It was not a
reasonable question. It may not have been intended to be
unreasonable, but it was not reasonable as it came out.
There is absolutely no harm done by the witness seeing the
whole letter and then Mr. Morris asking the question he
wants.

MR. MORRIS: On page 68 -----

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, in that case, the witness needs the
proper file.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Pale blue 2. If you turn right to the back,
there should be a divider 32.
A. I have got that 32 tab.

Q. Yes. If you turn almost to the back of the bundle, you
will see that there are numbers stamped at the bottom.
A. You said number 67?
