Day 262 - 13 Jun 96 - Page 25
which they felt were major exploitative forces, yes? That
is in the notes?
A. Yes, yes, I see that.

Q. If we move on to 8th February. This is a meeting at
Caledonian Road, and present at the meeting were
Paul Gravett, Andrew Clarke, Helen Steel, Jane and two
others, one of those being a man from Catford, which is
Alan, and the final one being Adrian, who is part of the
Lesbian and Gay group; you confirm that, yes?
A. Yes, that is correct.

Q. You made a note:

"Paul Gravett mentioned that the BBC World Service had
contacted the group asking them to take part in a debate
with client company, but that client company had declined.
He said he would contact the BBC, saying that he would
still like to put forward his point of view. It was also
suggested that Paul could put this refusal to debate by
client company to good use, and he said he would try to
issue some press releases on the matter."

Then it goes on to say:

"The man from Catford left the meeting earlier than the
rest, saying he had to get home."

You confirm all that, yes?
A. Yes.

Q. Then it goes on:

"Nothing further was said of any relevance to this matter,
and the meeting came to a close at 11.10 p.m. At this
time, everyone dispersed."

You confirm that, yes?
A. I do confirm that, yes.

Q. If you heard at a meeting anyone in the group say that they
did not have any information to back up what was in the
leaflets -- i.e. that, basically, it was made up, in the
anti-McDonald's leaflets, i.e. they were basically made
up -- you would have made a note of that, presumably?
A. I presume I would have done, yes.

Q. So, the paragraph that you have got there about
Paul Gravett talking about the BBC World Service sums up
everything that you heard that was relevant at that
meeting?
A. Everything that I remembered.

Q. You would tend to remember anything significant, because
that was what you were trying to remember?
A. It would be what I was trying to remember.

Q. It would be what you would make an effort to remember, yes,
if somebody -----
A. Try to make an effort to, yes.
