Q. When were you first asked to give evidence in this case?
A. I cannot recall.

Q. Would it have been shortly before you made your first
statement?
A. Perhaps. I really could not recall.

Q. All the statements you have made, they are basically made
from all your notes. Is that right?
A. That is right.

Q. And when you checked the statement before signing it, you
did that by comparing to it your notes?
A. I believe that is right, yes.

Q. Well, do you remember whether you did or not?
A. I remember reading my notes, yes.

Q. Right, and that was true for all the statements you made?
A. Yes.

Q. And when you checked them against your notes, all your
notes were there. There were not parts covered up or
anything like that when you were checking, were they?
A. I do not recall. I do not think that was the case on
the later statement that I have made but on the other
statements I do not recall. I do not think they were
covered up.

Q. Sorry. When you checked them against your latest
statement?
A. The notes that I looked at when making my latest
statement were photocopies of the original notes.

Q. Right. So you did not see the original notebook when you
made your latest statement?
A. I have not seen the original notebook since 1990, I
think; whenever.

Q. So, well, you said you could not remember about the two
other two statements you made. You might have seen the
notebook then?
A. Perhaps. It was some years ago.

Q. So what were the instructions that you were given when you
were taken on for this investigation?
A. To attend meetings, to identify or attempt to identify
the authors of, or the distributors of or printers of, or
simply those involved with the antiMcDonald campaign, sir.

Q. Were there any instructions about how you should go about
doing that apart from simple attendance at meetings?
A. I was asked to attempt to become accepted as a group
member and to, in that role, identify those involved with
the group and primarily those involved with the campaign,
sir.

Q. Were there instructions about how you should become
accepted as a group member?
