Day 198 - 08 Dec 95 - Page 24

Mr. Davis says on page 62 under "Conclusion: One great
       effort in helping to arrange and teach on development days;
       (2) professional appearance and conduct at all times". Did
you have a professional conduct at all times at McDonald's?
       A. I like to think so.

  Q. "Your personal attributes of reliability and maturity are
second to none". Would you agree with that?
       A. That is -- yes, I do, yes.

  Q. "You have an excellent attitude and wish to do well", do
       you agree with that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. How many people knew about the watering down of the shakes,
going back throughout your time at McDonald's? Was it just
the Store Manager and one or two people on each occasion?
       Who knew about it?
       A. It would normally about within the management circle,
Floor Managers, that type of thing. It would not be
something that would be generally known to everybody. It
would be something that would be kept to a tight group.

  Q. Right. The alterations of the clock cards throughout your
period at McDonald's, who would know about that being done?
       A. Only salaried Managers.

  Q. Salaried Managers?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The people who are above you in the hierarchy at
McDonald's, we know about Mark Davis, I think we have heard
from Frank Stanton, I am not sure if he rose up through the
ranks -- most of the people you met above you at
McDonald's, did they come up through the ranks?
       A. It was the only way to go. McDonald's did not hire
someone other than to go through -- I mean, to my
knowledge, all people, Supervisory, Senior Supervisor, have
all worked in stores as crew members, Trainee Managers and
worked through. They do not hire people and put them
straight into running a store. You have to work your time
       on the floor.

  Q. You have talked about double standards in the PR reviews,
and that people doing a PR review are also trying to
impress those higher up that they are doing their job. The
people above you, did you get the impression that they were
all aware of the double standards that operate?
       A. Well, can I answer that or?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You see, I think not because I have to decide
it on the evidence. Correct me if I am wrong, but you have
not given evidence of any conversation which you had or
which you were present at where watering down, clocking
clock cards, this what I will call elicit pairing of costs,
was discussed with anyone above Area Supervisor?
       A. No, I have not.

  Q. Mr. Stanton, you say, was in on it, Mr. Davis was in on it
when he was Area Supervisor but none of the other gentlemen
