Day 132 - 07 Jun 95 - Page 52
sure.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that should leave, at any rate, Friday
and most of Thursday of next week.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It seems to me that it is reasonable to work
on the basis that it looks at the moment as if Mrs. Meade
probably will not be in the witness box on Thursday or
Friday.

MR. RAMPTON: One would hope not. As to the following week,
your Lordship asked us to find out whether we could find
witnesses for the end ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am thinking about Thursday and Friday of
next week.

MR. RAMPTON: Your Lordship is quite right. The answer is, yes,
we can. I am not quite sure who they be at the moment.
Mr. Fairgrieve is one obvious possibility because he is
still unfinished. The Defendants will be prepared for him
because he was back the day after Mr. Morris' son's injury
ready to be further cross-examined.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. The only possible difficulty with
Mr. Fairgrieve is if, as a result of the matters which
I raised, there was more information to come from him, but
if there is not, there we are.

MR. RAMPTON: I do not believe there was any more than a
question of reordering the papers, the documents, which has
been done. My Lord, he is one possibility. There are two
other possibilities who would be Mr. Brown who deals with
McDonald's floors, and indirectly with Melanie O'Riordan,
and a gentleman called Tony Jardina who deals with Dave
McGee and his various allegations at Seven Sisters I think
it is. My Lord, certainly we can more or less guarantee
that we will have one if not two people available for the
end of next week.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: I know you seem to think that we would be able to
sort out questions for Mrs. Meade and Mr. Stein this
week ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is not a question of that. It is not just
this week. What I have in mind is that we have just had a
week out of court. I know you have your mind on various
things which Mrs. Meade and Mr. Stein have to be asked
because they have been introduced with other witnesses.
What you now have, which you might not have had at all
because I had done for Mr. Purslow two to three days
cross-examination after one day in-chief, so he might have
filled this week, is two days when you will not have to be
in court when, it seems to me, you could look again at what
you have to ask Mrs. Meade and Mr. Stein and do any further
work (I stress "further") which you had to do. What I am
anxious to do, because both you and Mr. Morris have said
from time to time that you are as anxious as anyone to get
