Day 208 - 24 Jan 96 - Page 37

MR. MORRIS: No, I understand. (To the witness) Would it be
fair to say that you do not remember that period very
clearly and how many times the RCD broke down?
A. It would be fair to say that at that point in time
I was only in the store two to three days a week, so it
could have happened on one of the other days when I was not
around, and I would not have been aware of the problem.

Q. Right, OK. You say that you usually work the grills and,
therefore, you would not know about customer complaints?
A. Yes, that is fair to say.

Q. So, nobody ever came and investigated any complaint by
asking the people on the grills: "What is going on"?
A. I have never, personally, had a complaint of serving
undercooked meat.

Q. When you were on the grills, nobody ever came and said to
you: "Can you check the timers? We have got a complaint"?
A. When you take over a station, personally, I would check
the timers, temperatures, and anything else that I felt
relevant, before I started using that station. So I do not
believe that anybody has ever come to me and asked me to
check it again.

Q. Nobody has ever asked you to do that?
A. I do not believe so.

Q. So, if there were customer complaints which you do not know
about, then that would just be dealt with by somebody else;
the till person might give them a replacement, or whatever?
A. It is possible, yes.

Q. Has the grease trap leaking been fixed properly, or is it
going to -- it has been complained about in rap session
notes, you know, some years ago. Has it been fixed yet
properly?
A. Yes.

Q. Is it a new one; has it been replaced?
A. I believe the seam that was split was welded.

Q. What, by Jagon Flint, or by somebody else?
A. It was not by Jagon. I could not tell you. I would
imagine it would have been a service engineer. I was not
there at the time when it was actually fixed, so I do not
know. But Jagon does not have any welding equipment.

MS. STEEL: Did it break a number of times?
A. Not that I am aware of.

Q. Why did you say that Jagon Flint "can" fix this at
virtually no cost ---
A. Well, he could, if he had -----

Q. -- rather than "did", when it was on this one occasion that
you recall?
A. If he had the equipment, then he would, yes, would have
fixed it at virtually no cost.
