Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 57

asking him to accept something which, very sensibly, he
said he cannot accept. You may turn out to be right, but
       this witness cannot -----

MR. MORRIS: I am just putting something so that you know what
       my case is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have made it fairly clear that you are
relying upon lack of attendance at the meetings.

MS. STEEL: Can I just ask you one other thing? You said you
did not remember about New Zealand John. You referred this
morning to a letter answering session which lasted from
10.30 to 6.30, or some time like that, and that was with
Andrew and New Zealand John. Does that refresh your memory
about who he was and the fact that he was a regular
       attender at the meetings?
       A. I certainly cannot picture him. The name is familiar.
With hindsight, I cannot remember who the letter writing
session or that particular session was with. If that is
what the notes say, then I am relying on the notes.

MS. STEEL: OK. If we go to the notes of 2nd October again.

MR. MORRIS: Sorry -- if we can jump to 1st March 1990, the
       notes, I would appreciate it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: They are page 92.

  MR. MORRIS: Yes?
       A. Yes, I have those.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Sorry, I would like to correct that. Will
you turn back to page 89, because the fuller copy is at
page 89. Page 92 was a more edited version.

MR. MORRIS: You say in these notes, towards the bottom of the
first page that I was 36 years old and in the group for
over 10 years, and I have been out of the group looking
after my female partner and their child.

"His partner suffered a broken leg and the four month old
baby suffered a broken leg and broken wrists after they
fell 10 to 15 feet from a ledge."

It is not a secret; that was in August 1989, I believe, and
they were in hospital for about a month after that. You
       recorded that at the time?
       A. Yes.

  Q. That I had said all that?
       A. I do not know who said it. I do not know where the
information came from, but I recorded that as a result of
       the meeting.

MR. MORRIS: Right. That is actually quite -- no.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Someone said it at the meeting. If it was
not Mr. Morris, it was in his presence because he was
there; and that is consistent with your own observations of
