Day 134 - 13 Jun 95 - Page 68

       A. Sorry, I am not with you yet -- E yes, they are.

  Q. They are produced on a regular basis?
       A. Yes.

  Q. How often?
       A. Quarterly.

  Q. When was the first one run off?
       A. I am not sure. I think it was about three years ago.
It could have been three and a half, but something around
       there.

  Q. If you could get the Defendants' documents No. 128 of the
original ones, it should be in the darker blue ones.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What was the number again?

  MS. STEEL: 128.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, it is bundle IV.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Supplementary bundle IV.

MS. STEEL: It is the original list, tab 28. This is a
reference to a Transport and General Workers Union report
about the hours that some workers were working at
       McDonald's.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, this is all very well, but the witness of
course does not know the rules of evidence and the
Defendants by this time surely do. This is a reference in
a local weekly newspaper to a report by somebody else. If
there is a question to be asked then it should be asked and
not have double hearsay read out from a newspaper account.

MS. STEEL: I am just trying to set the -- perhaps Ms. Mead can
just read the article and it will save me trying to give
her a brief resume about what it is about?
       A. The only problem, I do not know if it is a problem
about it being read, is that some technical thing?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Read it to yourself.
       A. It is not properly out on the left that is all.

  Q. Sorry?
       A. It is not printed, the little bit on the left is not
printed, that is all, something in North Kent.

MR. RAMPTON: The only note on it is it is something the
Defendants do not know what they are talking about but do
       not worry about it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Without actually reading from the article,
just put what you want to ask Ms. Mead about.
       A. Sorry, I have not finished the whole article yet. Yes,
       I have read it.

MS. STEEL: If you have a quick look at the following page which
is a letter from McDonald's to the paper ----
