Q. Has that policy altered significantly or not?
A. No, that is the policy and has been.

Q. Is that a rule that the crew are expected to observe?
A. Everyone within the organisation.

Q. I am at crew level at the moment.
A. Yes.

Q. When a person joins McDonald's as crew, does he get a copy
of this handbook?
A. Yes, they do.

Q. Does anybody take through them?
A. Generally, as part of the orientation.

Q. Would that provision normally be drawn to his or her
attention at the time?
A. Absolutely, the way we want people treated within our
restaurants.

Q. Higher up the organisation, are any steps or measures taken
to keep this issue of non-discrimination at the forefront
of people's minds?
A. Absolutely, we have numerous training programmes, it is
the subject of much talk and direct and support within the
organisation.

Q. How far up the organisation does this consciousness, this
awareness, by training reach?
A. All the way up to the highest levels, to the CEO of the
organisation.

Q. An entirely hypothetical question, Mr. Stein, but sitting
at the top of the pyramid as you do, or jolly nearly
anyway, should it come to your attention that a joint
venture partner overseas or one of your wholly owned
subsidiaries was breaching this policy of
non-discrimination, what would you at Oak Brook do about
it?
A. I would ring him up immediately and speak with him and
tell him very clearly what the policy of our Company is in
this regard. This is a basic tenet of our organisation,
and this is our sense of fairness and how people should be
treated. It has -- you know, it is not, as you indicated,
a legal obligation; it is both a moral and a business
obligation.

Q. Can you turn on some more tabs in that file to tab 9,
please?
A. Yes.

Q. The first page sets out what the contents of this document
seem to be: Non-discrimination, sexual harassment,
commitment to responsible student employment, statement of
employment principles. What is the nature of this document
or these pages, what are they for?
A. These are policy statements that we have, that we
disseminate to our employees, we post on our notice
