  Q. Despite any embarrassment you may feel, are they much used
       in your restaurants, toilet rolls?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do all your outlets, all your restaurants, have toilets?
       A. Yes, they do.

  Q. Even the drive-throughs or not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. They do?
       A. The drive-throughs are usually attached to an in-store
anyway and the toilet would be in the lobby of the
in-store. We do not have any drive-through only
       restaurants.

  Q. I see. Then kitchen towels, again the same date, August
1989, all are made from 100 per cent recycled paper?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Chicken McNuggett cartons, 72 per cent recycled since
February/March 1991. Was there any recycled content before
that date, do you think? It is roughly the same date as
       the apple pie cartons?
       A. They are all the same supplier.

  Q. I see. Office stationery, I will come back to in a
minute. Then straws, that is for drinking with or through,
       yes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "In November 1991 we reduced the weight from .8 grammes to
.75 grammes". In the context of the weight of a straw and
of the volume of straws used annually, is that or is it not
       a significant reduction?
       A. Yes, it is.

  Q. One notices as one goes through that list, that catalogue,
of recycled content, if I can call it that, in the paper
that we come across a variety of dates from 1981 to August
1989 to 1990 and through to 1991. What is the reason why
in some areas -- you have explained about the contact with
food, that I understand -- is there any other reason why
for some items the progress towards total recycled content
has been slower than it has been in relation to other
       items?
       A. I think prior to the establishment of Perseco in
Europe, which we established was around four years ago, the
initiative for using recycled content in our packaging was
mainly an initiative that came from McDonald's and the
suppliers but nobody was really driving this policy.

The two and four holes tray supplier who has been 100 per
cent since 1981, that was purely his initiative, his
product would never come into contact with food. When
Perseco became established in Europe, they have really
driven the environmental initiative along in tandem with
McDonald's Environmental Task Force that had been formed.
So, the initiative to drive forward to some extent came
