Day 017 - 25 Jul 94 - Page 69

     1        with this statement?" they are not going to agree with it;
whereas if we just read a line out of it they may well
2 agree to it. If Mr. Rampton later wants to argue that it
was taken out of context, that is up to him. But it
3 should be up to us to be able to just put a sentence or a
              part.
     4
We do feel that the interruptions are seriously disrupting
5 our train of thought and putting us off track and tipping
off the witnesses as to what we are getting at. We were
6 particularly concerned about when Mr. Rampton jumped in
with an answer on Friday before the witness had a chance
     7 to answer the question.

8 MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have given my comment in relation to
that. If you think that happens in the future, then the
9 best thing is to air it at the time rather than come back
              to this later.
    10
MS. STEEL: I mean, Dave did actually say at the time: "Well,
11 Mr. Rampton says such and such; do you agree with that or
do you want to give a different answer?" It was, sort of,
12 raised. But, I mean, as I say, you know, we did not have
the chance to take advice at that stage, so .....
    13
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. If there is something of which you
14 want to complain in the future, I suggest you raise it
              there and then.
    15
Were there any other things you wanted to raise this
    16 evening?

    17 MS. STEEL: No.

18 MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, there is one other thing. There is some
more addenda to Dr. Gregory's statement. He has arrived
19 now. He has brought some material with him. My Lord,
they go in the back of orange V, after K, they are divided
    20 in letters.

21 MR. MORRIS: This is the back of his statement?

22 MR. RAMPTON: No. Back of the orange reference folder, V.

23 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Orange V?

24 MR. RAMPTON: Orange V, my Lord, yes.

25 MS. STEEL: Can I just ask, is this new stuff or is this stuff
that is already referred to in the statement?
    26
MR. JUSTICE BELL: What are they, new references?
    27
MR. RAMPTON: I think that they are referred to in his report,
28 at any rate, by implication.

29 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Right, so we are going on to Dr. Gregory
              tomorrow?
    30
         MR. RAMPTON: Yes.
