Day 184 - 06 Nov 95 - Page 59

me the cheque, but her name was not on it. It was not from
       her.

  Q. She is one of the managers at the -----
       A. No, she is Cam's wife.

  Q. But she is one of the managers at the store?
       A. No, she does not manage the store.

  Q. Right.
       A. I am not sure if the lawyers gave it to her and then
she gave it to me. She just -----

  Q. Right. So what role did Cam Ballantyne's wife play in
this? Where does she come into the picture? What was she
doing? Did she work at the store?
       A. No, she does not.

  Q. Does she have any relatives working at the store?
       A. Right now Alison works there -- his daughter.

  Q. His?
       A. Daughter, Alison Ballantyne.

  Q. Is she one of the managers?
       A. No, she is just crew and she started in the summer.

  Q. So Cam Ballantyne's wife was involved in some way in this
       issue?
       A. Well, she does not work at the store, but she comes in
and I am not sure what she does there, but she is not --
I mean, I think she handles the paperwork but I am not
sure. I mean, she has office days and she works on the
computer, and I have only see her come in once a week,
       about that.

  Q. That would have been the same round about the time of 1993
       as well; is that correct?
       A. I would say I saw less of her then than I do now.

  Q. But she did work in the store helping out?
       A. I do not know if it was just helping Cam or what-not.
I mean, I do not know. I do not know if she gets paid for
it. I think she just comes in to do it.

  Q. But you were not surprised when it was her giving you the
       cheque?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is there any reason to be surprised? In the
statement Miss Iurilla says "statutory attendance fee" and
it sounds to me, if that is right, as if the person who
subpoenas someone to attend has to pay them an attendance
       fee if they do attend.

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think there is something similar in this
       country, is there not?

MR. MORRIS: Yes. We are just trying to identify what role Cam
