Day 119 - 02 May 95 - Page 48
people's attitude is monitored?
A. Yes.

Q. If you get low marks for attitude not only could you not
get a pay rise, you might be out of the door eventually?
A. Well, it depends upon the severity of the attitude.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I hope in any operation that is what
happens.

MR. MORRIS: Is that correct?
A. It could be.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Morris, we will have our five-minute
break now and then we will carry on.

(Short Adjournment).

MR. MORRIS: If we can go to bundle four, document 117, please?
In fact that is the one we had before, I believe, with the
wage slip in it. About midway through that document,
unless the Plaintiffs know, it may be in another file.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will find it this way. How far through?

MR. MORRIS: It is in the middle of that tab .

THE WITNESS: I have it.

MR. MORRIS: It is Joanne Bishops' Crew Members Review. It is
just after some wage slips.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have a Joanne Bishop, some wage slips.
Have you found it?

THE WITNESS: Yes, I have my Lord.

MR. MORRIS: It is entitled 24.1.86 at the top right-hand
corner, yes?
A. Yes.

Q. There are a few afterwards?
A. Yes.

Q. If we just look at the personal attributes, say, for
example, on attitude it says: "Desire to progress and
towards store success", yes?
A. Yes.

Q. If someone consistently got 0 for that, would it matter to
the company?
A. Well, I think what it would indicate to the Restaurant
Manager is that in that particular factor she needs some
corrective training, advice, guidance, whatever. We try
not to be a hiring/firing firm. We try to encourage our
people to develop and improve. If someone consistently
got, consistently got, 0s -- it depends what you mean by
that -- I mean, if they got a nought, I would say that
would be a terrible score to get. I do not think 1.5 is
particularly good, but it would indicate that she needs
