Day 195 - 04 Dec 95 - Page 59

  Q. In all, Mr. Alimi, the fact is, is it not, that these all
night closes took place maybe three or four times in a
       year?
       A. I could not say. I mean, I am going on the basis of my
diary here and what I remember.

  Q. That is what we are going to look at in a moment, but first
I just want finally to look at page 11 of your statement:
"I worked on average", in the middle of the page, sorry,
the middle of the page, do you see?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "I worked on average six days a week and could do anything
between 32 to 60 hours per week."
       A. That is right.

  Q. How many times during the time that you worked for
McDonald's did you do 60 hours in a week?
       A. Without reference to my pay slip and calculations
I could not really remember. It certainly looked very
often to me at the time.

  Q. Can I tell you from the pay slips which we have got, and
they are fortnightly so we cannot be sure what the weekly
totals might have been, there is no fortnight in which you
worked more than 90, nearly 99 hours. That is the
       longest ----
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- that you worked in any of those fortnights?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The next longest I think is 92 and a bit.
       A. OK.

  Q. 94 and a bit, sorry, 92 and a bit and all the rest are less
       than that?
       A. Yes. I am talking here about the time I spent at the
store; not about the time actually I was clocked in. In an
eight-hour shift you would get a 45-minute break, so every
two days that you work you should really add one and a half
hours to your working week. So, if you are working on
average six days a week, then three one and a half hours
should be added to the time which is on the pay slip which
we got paid for. In addition to that, we were expected to
be on the premises between 25 minutes to 15 before our
shifts started, so we were actually clocking in when we
were ready. So you could be starting some 20 minutes or
you could be on the premises 20 minutes before your shift.
So I am adding all that time to the time I actually spent
       on the premises.

  Q. I am interested in that. When you wrote in your diary the
       figures ----
       A. Yes.

  Q. --- the hours which you were scheduled sometimes and
sometimes the hours you actually worked ----
       A. Yes.
