Q. -- for which you can be pursued in the courts?
A. That is correct.

Q. Has McDonald's since the time that you have been there in
1974 ever had such a case taken against it successfully?
A. No, we have never been found guilty of having
discriminated. There was one occasion, a probable cause
finding by an administrative agency dealing with a
situation in Atlanta and it was a case brought by a white
male.

Q. A white male?
A. Yes, sir.

Q. What was the ground of his complaint?
A. He claimed that we were giving more favourable
treatment to females.

Q. Black females or just females?
A. Just females.

Q. Thank you. Could you look quickly, please -- I hope it
will be quickly -- at a document which you will find in the
shelves behind you, it is a pink spined file XI.
A. Yes.

Q. Could you find within it tab 6?
A. Sure.

Q. If you look at the first page behind tab 6 you ought to
find what we believe to be the United States McDonald's
Crew Handbook?
A. Yes, I have that.

Q. I believe the date of this to be 1992. Is this document
changed a lot as it goes along?
A. No, it does evolve but it does not change a lot.

Q. Can I ask you to look, please, at page 319? You will find
that at the bottom of the page.
A. Yes, I think I have it.

Q. It is a stamped number?
A. Yes.

Q. I am going to have to ask you to look at this page again
later in a different context, Mr. Stein, but for the
present can you look at the last bullet point on the page
"Discrimination"?
A. Do you want me to read it?

Q. No, just read it to yourself and I will ask you the
question when you have finished looking at it.
A. Yes, I have read it.

Q. During your time at McDonald's has that policy, or that is,
in fact, I think, described as a rule of conduct which one
can see from the previous page?
A. Yes.
