Day 258 - 07 Jun 96 - Page 25
MR. MORRIS: There has to be one about how often.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, it does not. It is a combination of
answers.

MR. MORRIS: Can you show us from those questionnaires how you
come to those conclusions? You say, well yes--
A. In no instance have I personally come to a conclusion,
directly from the questionnaire, to the results. That has
been provided for me by the research company.

Q. Yes, where in the questionnaire--
A. I am trying to check the questionnaire.

Q. -- do they have that information? I cannot find any
question about regularity at all.
A. From the question I have here I cannot see a frequency
question either.

Q. There is a general kind of frequency about "how many meals
of this kind do you eat a week".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Does it matter very much? I would be very
surprised if someone eats daily, that is, seven days a week
at McDonald's.

MR. MORRIS: I know at least 2 or 3 people personally who have
some time in their life eaten daily.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Most extraordinary people in Denmark sit on
poles for days on end for fun. So, no doubt you can find
someone who eats 7 days a week in McDonald's, but really it
is not going to advance the matter.

MR. MORRIS: It is just--

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The most one can normally expect to find
there might be a certain number eating nearly every day and
a certain number eating several days a week.

MR. MORRIS: OK.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The fact that there is a nought for daily
seems to me to be of no significance one way or the other
really. With no disrespect to McDonald's, it would be such
a bizarre habit of life that one would have to put it on
one side as eccentric anyway.

MR. MORRIS: Right. We are just seeing what is next. We have
very nearly finished.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Just take a moment to check back, as it
were. (Pause).

MS. STEEL: I think that is it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, thank you.
