Day 062 - 06 Dec 94 - Page 25

MR. RAMPTON: I think the word is "treatment"?
       A. Treatment. "Water treatment" plant, sorry, that is the
word I was looking for. So Enso, actually, have their own
       treatment plant.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So water which is pure enough to be
discharged into the system somehow or other is discharged.
Then you end up with a drier sludge, do you, and what
       happens to that?
       A. That drier sludge can sometimes be used, and I do not
know this from Enso, I know this from the general sludge
that you get then can sometimes be used as a soil
conditioner, sometimes as a composting -- can be composted.

  Q. I see, thank you.

                      (Short Adjournment)

MR. RAMPTON: Do you still, Mr. Van Erp, have the tables on page
       7.3 of your 1992 report?
       A. In a minute -- yes, I do.

  Q. Just one aspect of this. It is called "Overview of
Material Usage in kilograms per distribution centre per
material", right? What I want you to help us do is explain
what the letters at the top of each or the names at the top
of each column mean in a geographical sense, starting with
the first one, GWF, what area is that?
       A. That is the UK.

  Q. "GWF" is short for what?
       A. It stands short for Golden West Foods which is the
distribution centre. There are actually two of them, one
located in Hemel Hempstead and one in Hayward.

  Q. So each of the letters or names at the top of these columns
       are distribution centres?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Are they for different parts of Europe?
       A. And they are for different parts of Europe.

  Q. We can write over the top of it; which is SDL?
       A. "SDL" stands for Austria.

  Q. "MDScan"?
       A. Is Finland.

  Q. "LRS"?
       A. France.

  Q. "MLS"?
       A. Holland.

  Q. "HLS"?
       A. Switzerland.

  Q. I am going too fast. Sorry, start again.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: "LRS" France; "MLS" Holland.
