Day 274 - 04 Jul 96 - Page 44
felt the McDonald's campaign was too specific, although of
course I do agree with everything in the leaflet. But, no,
that is not true.

Q. Yes. Thank you, Miss Laporte.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would like you to--

MR. MORRIS: It will not take more than two minutes. I am sure
it might note even take that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I was going to say, I would like you to
complete your re-examination because I do not suppose it
will take very long, and then we can adjourn until Monday
morning.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. No further questions.

(Witness withdrew)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you, Miss Laporte, leave everything
there. I said we can adjourn until Monday morning. But
you indicated that you might not be calling--

MR. MORRIS: We are not calling Charlie Brooks and Brian
Moseley, no.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Right. Thank you. It follows, does it, that
the only evidence you have got to call -- barring anything
which arises out of what I said about documentation this
morning or discussions we have had about documentation in
the past -- are yourself, Ms. Steel and Mr. Morris?

MS. STEEL: And Lord Vestey.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is the position?

MS. STEEL: Mr. Morris is not calling Lord Vestey, I am only
calling him. Mr. Morris does not want to call him.

MR. MORRIS: I am glad to withdraw my name from the subpoena,
and I am going to contact his solicitors to that effect
today.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is entirely up to you. But can you--

MS STEEL: I have been trying to find out when he is available.
But if he does not get back with a date pretty soon -- I
mean, I am not quite sure how much notice he has to have
since he has had the subpoena, but I was going to say that
he has to turn up some day next week.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think what you ought to do is to contact
the solicitors and press them to give you a date within the
next two weeks when he can come back. Since he is coming
under subpoena, it seems to me only right that we should
then arrange to have him called at 10.30 one morning or 2
p.m. one afternoon, even if it is in the middle of someone
else's evidence. If that can be avoided, well and good.
