Day 150 - 07 Jul 95 - Page 66
A. They would and that would be the case.

Q. They would count as someone who had then arrived on payroll
at the other end?
A. That is the way it works.

Q. So that would be one ---
A. Person turn over.

Q. -- turnover, as it were?
A. Yes, that is right.

Q. Unless a special arrangement was made to transfer them so
that they would stay the same name on the McDonald's
payroll?
A. But, in terms of my restaurant, I am pretty sure it
would be classified as still losing a person.

Q. That would still go towards turnover?
A. I am not too sure, but they would certainly leave my
payroll as such, yes.

MS. STEEL: Right, but you would not fill out one of these
forms with the termination codes on it?
A. There was no -- I do not think there was a form as
such. There would be something in their file on the inside
cover which, I think, would say "reasons for leaving",
"would you reemploy" and then a termination code, to
assist us if a Manager from Glasgow phoned up and said:
"I have Frank Stanton here; he wants to join", then
I would be able to tell them the reasons they left me and
so on and so forth. I am pretty sure we would put that on
the file.

Q. But if they were taking the file with them, would you
actually fill out that termination code, if they were going
straight from one to another?
A. Yes, I see what you mean. No, I guess the termination
code would be transferred to restaurant, whatever that code
was. They would certainly leave my payroll and, as such,
I would put something on there to reflect why they left my
payroll.

Q. How long did you keep people's records for after they left?
A. Gosh! Maybe three years.

Q. Three years?
A. Maybe.

MR. MORRIS: You said in your statement, page 5, at the
beginning of that last paragraph under point 5, you talk
about Leicester, yes?
A. Yes.

Q. You said: "About 70 per cent of my crew are part-timers,
and that a significant proportion of those, about 10 per
cent, were students from Leicester University and Leicester
Polytechnic"; is that correct?
A. Right, yes, about seven or eight people were students,
as far as I can recall.
