Day 086 - 09 Feb 95 - Page 68
something that is a 5?
A. There is only one 5 on the page.

Q. Yes, OK, there is only one 5. There are 5s on other pages,
are there not?
A. But it is relevant to come to your total at the
bottom. There is not a massive significance in the
numbers. It is the item that is done, that we check that
is of importance.

Q. So the scores on the OCLs only reflect the areas that the
company feels are important to a certain extent; they are
not kind of definitive?
A. I think the items that we check are the areas that are
important. To give the crew members some feedback on how
they are doing we put a scoring system in there. In
general we prioritise the more important areas, but with
the FMS/OCLs the only thing I can say with that is that
these are items that are in development and are not yet
fully fixed because we have not got the system together.
So whenever we put something new in we have a working
document to cover health and safety issues and how the
practices take place, and then when we have evaluated the
system we will tidy everything up. I accept your point
that we could prioritise those differently.

Q. The staff get awards, do they not? The crew members can
get awards?
A. Yes, they get awards.

Q. What is the purpose of those awards?
A. To recognise that they have done a good job.

Q. In order to get an award they have to pass two OCLs on each
station?
A. The awards I was thinking about were a crew member of
the quarter (inaudible) or something like that.

Q. Is that a different type of award then?
A. Yes. Were you thinking about if you pass OCLs and a
unit test you get a star for that particular area. Was
that what you were thinking?

Q. There is a fry award and a grill award?
A. Yes, that is right.

Q. That is for the star?
A. Yes, that is a star.

Q. In order to get those they have to pass two OCLs on each
station?
A. That is right.

Q. Is that the same OCL twice on two different occasions or is
that two different OCLs?
A. There is a unit, say, grill and that will have one test
and then within each unit you will have a number of areas.
So with the grill area you would have grill buns and
dressings, so you would have three lots of two OCLs in each
of those areas which comprise that whole award. On service
