Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 77

  Q. Did you have a copy of the book?
       A. Well, all I am aware of is that there was a copy in
       the office.

  Q. There was a copy in the office?
       A. I believe so, yes. Along with Hoofprints on the
       Forest.

  Q. Thank you. Then it says: "It was agreed that picketing s
of McDonald's would take place on the 16th October, 1990 4
and 6 pm. AntiMcDonald's leaflets were to be disputed
outside McDonalds' headquarters in Finchley High Road. A
further picket would be placed outside McDonald's Nag's
Head branch between 12 noon and 2 pm on the same day. It
is possible that another picket would be placed outside
Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road branch of McDonald's.
It should be noted that Hackney & Islington Animal Rights
are picketing the Dawson Junction of McDonald's at 7 pm."
Were the first three of those pickets mentioned, from 12
noon going through to the possibility of a picket in the
evening on Oxford Street. Were those to be London
       Greenpeace pickets?
       A. Yes, I think they were.

  Q. It would make sense, would it not, because they are taking
       place one after the other?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Then says Miss Hooker's note: "It was agreed that during
the week of the 16thth October 1990, and particularly on
the 16th, McDonald's should be "hit hard". Do you see
       that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. It is right, is it not? That was agreed, was it not?
       A. I do not remember that term, expression being used
       actually.

  Q. But the sentiment is right, is it not? That was the
       feeling of the group?
       A. Well the feeling, you know the feeling of the people
present at the meeting would be perhaps, yes; the World Day
of Action, McDonald's Day, we will all picket McDonald's,
       ye,.

  Q. And there should be a focus, a concentration of activity
during that week, but particularly on that day?
       A. Yes, there always was a concentration on that day and
       around that time, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you have any difficulty with that
penultimate paragraph? "It was agreed during the week of
the 16th October 1990 and particularly on the 16th
McDonald's should be "hit hard", as the feeling of the
       meeting?
       A. Well, I have reservations about this term "hit hard".
I think by 1990 we had said, the feeling of the McDonald's
Day of Action, as London Greenpeace Day of Action was that
it was just something that we did because it turned up each
year. There was not the enthusiasm. I mean, I was there in
