Day 015 - 21 Jul 94 - Page 65

1 MR. MORRIS: No, I think the fat content is higher.

2 MR. JUSTICE BELL: 1.6, if you take the semiskimmed?
              A. That is right, yes.
     3
         Q. What is whole milk?
4 A. Whole milk would be about 3.5 per cent fat.

5 MR. MORRIS: Grapefruit juice again. Cheerios, you do not do
the equivalent of that, do you, in this country?
6 A. No. I understand that breakfast cereals were tried,
but there was no demand for them in this country.
     7
         Q. Low fat milk on the Friday again. Saturday, orange juice
8 and low fat milk. That deals with breakfast. Let us go
through the lunch. We might as well. McChicken
9 Sandwich. Again, bearing in mind what we said before
about the beef tallow that the chicken was cooked in has
10 now changed, that has to be borne in mind. French fries.
Again that is reduced from as it was, the fat reduced, the
11 beef oil -- sorry -- have been reduced since 1989 in the
States, I believe more recently here last year. This is
12 on lunch Tuesday: Tossed salads not in the UK or is not a
standard item in the UK; the dressing ----
    13
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are you, by silence, agreeing with what
14 Mr. Morris puts to you?
              A. No, I am just listening. I have not been asked any
15 question, as I understand it.

16 MR. MORRIS: All right. I will not go through the whole amount
because we have not the time to establish the facts, but
17 I think we did deal with all these before when we were
              going through the items.
    18
MR. JUSTICE BELL: You are not actually asking him whether he
19 agrees. You may be right, for all I know.

    20 MR. MORRIS: Right.

21 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Professor Wheelock is supposed to be giving
              the evidence.
    22
MR. MORRIS: Yes, I understand that. Suffice to say, seeing as
23 we are now coming to the end, would you say on one hand
this would not apply to the situation in this country,
    24 strictly?
              A. No, I never said it would.
    25
         Q. Right. Secondly, there would also be a difference between
26 that kind of diet and food from McDonald's now and what it
was before some of the changes were made that I have
27 identified, say 1989, or something. This was actually
printed in 1991 as part of the annual report.
    28 A. Yes, so I imagine.

29 Q. A lot of changes were made to this report ----?
              A. I imagine this refers to the situation round about
30 1990 in the US, but again I should say that I do not have
a detailed knowledge of the situation in the United
