Day 158 - 19 Jul 95 - Page 60
inside the shaded red circle. The point is that is the
supply plant and they will take beef from up to 1,000
kilometres from there just as the Barretos plant does.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You develop this argument to me in the
morning, because I do not want to go on long tonight. If
I were against you on that then think about whether you
want to change the wording of your proposed amendment.

MR. MORRIS: If McDonald's have nothing to hide, which of course
we believe they have and that is why their whole policy in
this area is absolutely shot through with contradictions
and deceit ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You are going on to argue and I do not want
to do it tonight. Stop now. I think you will do yourself
more justice in the morning. The other interlocutory
matter we have to deal with is the response to my ruling.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, we have that ready. There is the whole
of the Convention. Your Lordship will remember the film
One Every Mile about the Strand and the Croydon
restaurants. Does your Lordship remember that? There was
a Channel 4 video which was never broadcast.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. RAMPTON: The witness coming on Friday used to be the
manageress at the Strand restaurant, Mrs. Antenni. When
Mrs. Brinley-Codd was looking at a dusty cupboard at
Barlows the other day for something else she came upon
(which she did not know she had) a Barlow's old file
relating to that film. In that file there was a whole lot
of material, some of it privileged, some of it not, it has
nothing to do with the issues in this case at all because
there was a lot of correspondence between film makers and
McDonald's about shooting schedules and so on, but in that
file she found some material which we think is relevant to
the issues in this case and, therefore, we thought it right
to disclose it. We are doing it now because that witness,
as I say, is coming on Friday. They may not eventually be
relevant to her evidence at all because they are of more
general relevance to the case, although there is one
document which relates directly to the Strand.

MR. MORRIS: Can I say I have an 800-page transcript of all the
raw footage taken by the film makers in the filming.
I have not had time even to look at it. I certainly will
try to bring it to make it available. I am sure if people
want me to I will try to get it copied before Friday, but
it may not be necessary to copy it if it is available to be
looked at. So I will try to bring it in. I have not had a
chance it look at it and, therefore, I cannot hardly ask
any questions on it. I certainly will bring it in. It is
from the film director herself.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You do not need that before Mrs. Antenni, do
you? It would be before Miss Tobin.

MR. RAMPTON: It depends. If the Defendants are going to put
