Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 66
Q. What is it, so far as you can see, that is sticking out of
that box?
A. Well, I can see something perched on the top of the
box. I do not quite know how it has got there. It looks
like it might be attached to one of the flaps on the box.

Q. Yes, that sometimes happens, does it not, they get stuck
sideways in the front flap? That is one of the
anti-McDonald's fact sheets, is it not?
A. It could be. I mean, you just cannot tell from here,
but it could be.

Q. There were in a box in the office in March, this is 6th
March 1990, at any rate some of the anti-McDonald's fact
sheets, were there not?
A. No.

Q. You say --
A. No, that box there had originally been used, to the
best of my knowledge, this is best of my knowledge, that
box was the box that the fact sheets came in when they were
printed in 1987. By 1990 there were not any fact sheets in
it. That was the box I think we used to use to take things
to stalls in.

Q. And that is why it would have one of the fact sheets
sticking out of it, is it not?
A. No. I think I can explain that. What happens is when
a printer prints leaflets and they are sealed up in the
box, they always stick a copy of the leaflet on top of the
flaps. Now, when the box is broken open, sometimes the copy
remains attached to the flap. I think that is what it
looks like there.

Q. Well, I have to disagree with you, but there is no point
you and me having an argument about that, Mr. Gravett.
A. No.

Q. We can all use our own eyes. While you have the
photographs open, so I do nod have to come back to them,
can you look backwards at number 7.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How many fact sheets would that box contain
when it first arrived?
A. I would guess a couple of thousand. I think in '87 we
had, it would either have been about two or three thousand,
printed.

MR. RAMPTON: There was certainly enough left by October 1988
for you to advertise them to members of the public at the
fayre?
A. Well, they were advertised in the programme as being
available on our stall.

Q. Yes. If you look at photograph number 7, we are told by
the Defendants, and please confirm whether they are right
about this, you see that set of wooden drawers on the
left-hand side of the desk?
A. Yes.
