MR. JUSTICE BELL: As long as you have the document then
2 Mr. Rampton may ask you another question about it.

3 MR. RAMPTON: I do not know he has got the right document.
              A. "McDonald's Nutrition Guide".
     4
         Q. Yes.
     5 A. Yes.

6 Q. I want you to look at that. Just read it to yourself. You
see the headings: "Variety, Moderation - where does
7 McDonald's fit in?" Just read those to yourself, please,
Professor Wheelock. Tell me when you have got to the end
     8 of the page.
              A. OK.
     9
         Q. Please turn over. Notice the document is called:
    10 "McDonald's Nutrition Guide. Our role in a well-balanced
diet", and the bit that you have just been reading is
11 headed "Golden Rules for Healthy Eating". Then please
turn over the page where we see one page headed: "What we
12 put into our food." Please read that to yourself.
              A. OK.
    13
         Q. Then please move your eye over to the other side which
14 I suppose would be a different fold in the original
leaflet. We see the chart which is being talked about on
15 the other page, do we not?
              A. Yes.
    16
         Q. "What you get out of it"?
    17 A. Yes.

18 Q. Have a look at that chart which gives quantities for
energy in both K calories and kilo joules, carbohydrates
19 in grammes of fat, protein and sodium, remembering this
was published in July 1985. Look at the footnotes at the
20 bottom of it. There is no need to look at the columns in
detail. Notice that each of the items on the menu is
    21 separately categorised?
              A. Yes.
    22
         Q. Then answer this question, please. Is the information
23 contained in that leaflet irrelevant from a nutritional
              point of view?
    24 A. No, absolutely not.

25 Q. How do you rate it as nutritional information for the
customer available in restaurant in July 1985 and
    26 thereafter?
              A. I would say it was pretty good because it does
27 actually give the amount of energy and the amount of fat
in an individual item. In my view, that is more helpful
28 than to express it per 100 grammes.

29 Q. I was going to ask you but that because that is one of the
criticisms that is made of McDonald's by the defendants'
30 witnesses, that they do not express the quantities as
percentages of total energy. Can you explain why this is
