Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 48

happened after the agenda was finished being passed round
was that people would introduce themselves, and then the
agenda items would be gone through one by one, firstly --
well, after those present, then correspondence received,
then reports of previous week's activities, then the
       individual agenda items?
       A. Yes. The agenda was fairly loosely stuck to.

  Q. Then at the end there would be a section on coming events,
which would be any events that were coming up, not just
       those organised by London Greenpeace?
       A. Yes. I do not recall if that was at the end, but
certainly that was part of it. I do not recall the order
       of it.

  Q. You would generally agree with what Mr. Bishop said about
the nature of the group, the way the meetings were run?
       A. I have not heard all of Mr. Bishop's evidence. I was
only here for part of it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can I explain about that? If you think that
Mr. Bishop, as a witness, covered the generalities or some
of them which you want to ask about by giving favourable
answers to you, there is no need to check with another
witness. If you think there was some doubt about
Mr. Bishop's evidence, check. I am not suggesting it will
happen here. One risk of checking a favourable answer with
another witness is that you may get an unfavourable answer
from that witness and we have taken a step backward rather
       than a step forward.

So, if you have a favourable answer which you think you can
suggest is credible in due course, there is no need to get
confirmation for it from a subsequent witness who is giving
       evidence in the same field.

  MS. STEEL: Right, OK.

MR. MORRIS: From what you heard -- I think you were here all
       yesterday morning?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Just to save time -- from what you heard about what
Mr. Bishop said about the nature of the group, the way it
worked, was there anything which you disagreed with in what
       he said?
       A. From what I heard, there is nothing I disagreed with,
but I cannot guarantee I heard everything Mr. Bishop said.

  Q. But you were here all yesterday morning?
       A. I was not necessarily concentrating and paying
attention all of yesterday morning, I am afraid.

  Q. OK. From what you heard, it accorded with your
       experiences?
       A. From what I heard.

  Q. OK. You were not asleep for most of the time; were you
awake for most of the time?
       A. I was awake, but I was not always concentrating.
