        A. My inquiries of restaurants -- and I did a trawl
       across the country -- was that they did not keep them for
       any length of time at all once they had been dealt with.

  Q. How many stores did you contact about that?
       A.  20, 30.

  Q. You did not say to them: "Why are you not following company
       policy"?
       A.  No.

  Q. Can I just say for the record that page 30 actually
       says: "Retention of records. The following details how
       long record should be retained. Accident books,
       permanently; wages and salary rates, permanently; lift
       certificates, permanently; employee files after
       termination, seven years; attendance records, seven years;
       medical records, seven years; time cards, three years;
       overtime records, three years; and employment application,
       six months" -- just in case that comes up.
       A. Crew records, crew payroll records now are kept for
       three years; they are on computer.

  Q. Could you get counterclaim bundle 1, please?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is the -----
       A. Yes, I have it, my Lord.

  MS. STEEL: If you turn to tab 96, please?
       A. It only goes up to 83.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is it in volume 2?

  MS. STEEL:   Pardon?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is it? Is it a -----

  MS. STEEL: A letter from the desk of Mike Matthews.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Volume 2, tab 96.

  MS. STEEL: Sorry, but because we have not got a set in court,
       I take mine out, the ones that I -----

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do not worry; as long as we find it.

  THE WITNESS: What number was it, again?

  MS. STEEL: 96. This is a letter from the desk of
       Mike Matthews, dated 10/7/91, is it?
       A.  It is cut off.

  Q. It must be 1991, because it has about 18th May picket.

       "This leaflet came from a Cardiff university common room;
       clearly, the name and address of the printers has been cut
       off. Any chance ever tracing via other sources perhaps?
       Mike."

       Then you have made a note on it. What other sources was he
