Day 278 - 11 Jul 96 - Page 35
A. Exactly. You provided them so that we would not be at
a disadvantage, therefore, when you withdrew them, you knew
that we would be at a disadvantage.

Q. Would you look now, please, at the last document in this
bundle, the page is 89? Can you tell me what it is please?
A. Page 89?

Q. Yes. It has got some fuzzy, blurred photographs on it?
A. I recognise it as something from the Mcspotlight site.

Q. And it says "the people" and in the left corner we have got
"Mr. Croft", who died some years ago, "Mr. Preston,
Ronald", who does not exist, "Mike Love and me". On the
right-hand side we have got "Helen Steel, David Morris,
Diane Mills", and then the Greenpeace, "and the Mclibel
support campaign." Interviews are 'by' or 'with' Dave
Morris, do you know, and Vandana Sheva and you?
A. We were interviewed.

Q. Yes. Your interview went on to the Internet; did it not?
A. Yes.

Q. And then it says, there is a picture of Mr. Preston in the
bottom left-hand corner; do you see?
A. Yes.

Q. And a flattering picture of Mr. Morris in the bottom
right-hand corner. Then it gives a list of defendant's
witnesses, or their CVs, and that continues over the page
with a picture of Mr. Mills on the right-hand side, Ronald
McDonald's on the left-hand side. Then I am afraid I
cannot tell you who that is underneath Ronald?
A. That is Mike Love.

Q. You could have fooled me. I think you may have got the
wrong man actually?
A. No, it is definitely Mike Love.

Q. But the person I am interested in at the top of the page,
between the two black lines: "Plaintiff's witnesses not
included due to court procedures. Watch this space." What
does that mean, Miss Steel?
A. We were asked about whether or not we could give copies
of the plaintiff's witness statements to Mcspotlight, so
that they could put them on there. As we understood it,
you would have objected if we had done that. So, we did
not hand anything over that was not something that was our
own document.

Q. You know, do you not, I mean, you have known for some
considerable time, that once a witness statement, you have
got your own copies, once a witness statement has been made
evidence in court by being averred by the witness, it is
public property. You know that, do you not?
A. In terms of ones that have been read, yes, I guess I
do. But it should be remembered that 95 per cent of your
witness statements were not read, and they only started
getting read after there was the ruling halfway through
employment matters.
