  Q. That is what you wrote on 15th July 1993 --
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- for this case. Then further statement, notes -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I would not just read this, because it
is your notes of what was taken down. Ask questions.

MR. MORRIS: Is it the case that after speaking with you I made
       some notes?
       A. Yes, it is.

  Q. We will go through it. I will just read it out, and tell
       me -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do not read the notes out, because they are
your notes; they are not what he has actually said. You
will not be handicapped in any way. Just ask questions
       designed to elicit the evidence.

MR. MORRIS: OK, yes. (To the witness): Is it true that you
worked at McDonald's in Colchester, Milton Keynes, Clacton,
       Ipswich, Leicester, Stevenage and Lowestoft?
       A. Yes, that is correct.

  Q. Is it true that in all those stores -----

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, no.

  MR. MORRIS: Sorry.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Try not to ask leading questions. I do not
mind about the stores. Let me help you. What are you
going to go on to now?

MR. MORRIS: I am just going to ask him whether he worked in
positions of responsibility, that is all.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, very well.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness) Did you work there in each of
those stores in a position of responsibility?
       A. Yes. I was a Floor Manager at Colchester, and I went
on to the salaried management training programme for Milton
Keynes; and I worked as a trainer or Floor Manager at the
other stores in their initial opening periods.

  Q. At Clacton and Ipswich, were they in the opening periods as
       well?
       A. No. I also spent other time there, because they were
three stores -- with Colchester, they were the three stores
in our group. So, to cover holidays, for instance, I would
       go.

MR. MORRIS: I am not sure how to do this without leading
       questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just pause a moment, and I will help you. It
should not be too difficult because, presumably, Mr. Gibney
