       request.

  Q. Yes, but in terms of people coming up to scratch, are we
talking about just the odd person once a month or is that
something that was regularly a concern every week for three
       or four staff?
       A. It is very much a sort of ongoing thing. You assess
people's performance constantly, but the actual need to
buddy someone up with someone would arise very
occasionally, perhaps once or twice a month.

  Q. So, really, this extra effort you talk about is something
really that happened once or twice a month?
       A. Are you talking about the buddying up of a crew member,
       for instance?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let me ask a question. I really think we are
getting bogged down on minutiae now. You have put your
case about forcing them out. I am really reluctant that
you should go through the statement looking at every line.

MR. MORRIS: No, I am not going to do that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL (To the witness): What you are being asked is
about how often did something need to be done about
someone's performance, whether it was just taking them on
one side and having a bit of a chat, trying to find what
the problem was, or whether it was buddying them up with
       someone or -----
       A. Well, I would estimate that you would get that perhaps
       once or twice a month.

MR. MORRIS: I do not know if you want to have a stenographer's
       break?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I was going to see if we can press ahead, but
if you want five minutes to help yourself, you will have
       it.

MR. MORRIS: We are happy to continue but really for the
       stenographer.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will carry on.

MR. MORRIS (To the witness): Do you remember an incident where
you threw a spatula at somebody in the store?
       A. No, I do not. No, I do not. Did you have anyone in
       particular in mind or ......

  Q. I do not know the individual that it was thrown at, if it
was thrown. Do you read the notes of the rap sessions?
       A. I do when they come back, yes.

  Q. Right.
       A. We have a Managers' meeting to discuss them.

  Q. Is it true that in rap sessions you have been criticised as
being aggressive by some of the crew members at the rap
       session?
       A. It is true to say that perhaps people have made that
