Day 045 - 03 Nov 94 - Page 58

  Q. By 1991 that had increased to 77 per cent?
       A. That is correct. You can see that it has gone up and
       down.

  Q. Are McNuggetts and salads the only two other products that
come under the heading of "Entree" apart from sandwiches?
       A. I do believe we had a chicken sandwich at this time,
and I am not sure, that is probably included in the "Any
Sandwich" category. Filet-o-fish would be included in the
"Any Sandwich" category. So, the only sandwiches or
entrees that would be excluded, it seems, here are
       McNuggetts and salads.

  Q. Right. Are McNuggetts a lot more popular than salads?
       A. No, I really do not remember. I do not know if we have
it by specific category; the report would show.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: McNuggett penetration is on page 228.

MS. STEEL: OK. "Eight per cent of customers reporting such a
       purchase."
       A. That looks correct.

  Q. I am not sure how that works actually.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You can actually get 20 piece McNuggetts,
that is take-away for a family?
       A. Take-away is like a chicken bucket, or something like
that; it would be a take-away family.

MS. STEEL: In fact, yes -- I am not quite sure I understand
this actually because eight per cent of customers report a
purchase of McNuggetts and four per cent report a purchase
       of salads?
       A. Sorry, I think, are you on page 8 now?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, page 228?
       A. Excuse me, page 228. I think, if you see, 8 is the
total penetration, then the four piece is two per cent, the
six piece is three, that would be five altogether; the nine
piece is two, and the one per cent in the twenty piece.
So, I think it is broken out by category and it should add
       up to the eight.

MS. STEEL: Right, that was not the bit I did not understand.
       A. I am sorry.

  Q. It was the eight per cent purchasing McNuggetts and four
per cent purchasing salads, but there is only six per cent
of customers buying McNuggetts and salads. I cannot
understand it. I do not know whether you can explain?
       A. It may be that there is multiple purchases on a visit,
so that the same visit that has a salad, McNuggetts and a
hamburger, for example, would only show up as penetration
of a single visit, even though it is three different menu
items. The numbers may not, we call them, "foot" in that
       perspective.

  Q. Going on to page 222: "Large sandwiches. Approximately
