Day 015 - 21 Jul 94 - Page 55

1 evidence on this a little while ago.
              A. No, I am sorry, I am not familiar with any of that
     2 kind of information.

3 Q. It might occur to one that certainly if they are allowed
to have a meal while on duty, a very large proportion of
4 them are taking the opportunity to do that and a small
percentage, that is the seven plus a week 6 per cent,
5 maybe having more than one meal a shift. Is there
anything within your knowledge to support or gainsay that?
6 A. Not dealing specifically with that. The only comment
that I could make is that when as a student myself
7 I worked in food factories where you could eat as much as
you like of the product that was there. Within about a
8 week once you had gorged yourself you did not want to
touch the stuff again at all. I do not know whether this
9 might apply with any of McDonald's employees or not.

10 Q. So you cannot from your knowledge -----
              A. Not from my direct knowledge.
    11
         Q. --- say whether what I put to you has any accuracy or not?
    12 A. No, I do not know.

13 MR. MORRIS: Just to dip into to another point which may come
up a bit later, the next tab after that one which is
14 I believe tab 16. It is a general survey of customer
meals, customer visits, and if I can just find the bit
    15 I am look for.

16 MR. RAMPTON: This is in the United States.

17 MR. MORRIS: This is in the United States. It is still
relevant. If you look at page 23, say, which is 243 in
    18 the bundle?
              A. Yes.
    19
         Q. It gives the main chunk of the what people buy after 11
    20 o'clock?
              A. Yes.
    21
         Q. Is entree, fries and beverage. That is a typical
    22 McDonald's meal, yes?
              A. I would imagine so.
    23
         Q. Entree is like cheese ----
24 A. I presume an entree product probably means sandwich.

25 Q. Yes, a sandwich or hamburger, chicken sandwich. I believe
somewhere here there is another pie chart if I can find
    26 it.

27 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Does it actually define "entree"?

28 MR. RAMPTON: No, my Lord, but it would consist I suppose of
              the main dishes like filet-o-fish.
    29
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Not salad, obviously not a pudding.
    30
MR. RAMPTON: I would guess it was one of the main courses.
