6 A. Reasons for dismissal, well, reasons for leaving.

8 Q. We are talking about dismissal are we not? That
9 information will be recorded for establishing what the main
10 trends are, the sackable offences?
11 A. I really cannot tell. I really do not know how deeply
12 it goes into it.

14 Q. Yes, but if your company was concerned about the welfare of
15 the crew and the atmosphere in its stores, it would want to
16 know why it was sacking people and what the main trends
17 were?
18 A. Crew would be dealt with by the local Operations people
19 and the local Field Service people.

21 MR. JUSTICE BELL: I cannot see that they necessarily will, it
22 must depend upon the number, must it not?
23 A. Yes.

25 Q. If you, for instance, have got a high rate of turnover,
26 I can see the company might want to know why that is
27 because they might not be happy with it and therefore they
28 want to look into it. If you have got dismissals then if
29 you find you have got quite a high rate of dismissals,
30 whatever that may be, I can see you might want to enquire
31 into it. If dismissals tend to be few and far between,
32 then does one really need to compile what the reasons are?

37 A. I would say it is just a matter of the Field Personnel
38 Officer gleaning this information from their visits to
39 store, in so far as crew are concerned.

42 dismissed?
43 A. I do not have those figures, sorry.

45 Q. The Field Personnel Officers would have the information on
46 any trends for sacking basically?
47 A. Yes, I think they would glean those from their store
48 visits.

51 particular area?
52 A. Yes, and Lyn Mead is a Regional Personnel Manager, in
53 her regular meetings with her staff.
