Day 263 - 14 Jun 96 - Page 47
anything, no, other than leaflets and handouts.

Q. OK. Is it basically the case that when you were given your
instructions, you were just told to get on with whatever
you considered to be necessary in order to get out the
information which you were being asked to obtain?
A. The majority of how I went about finding out
information, I suppose, was left to my own discretion, but
the idea was that I simply attend meetings with the group
and report on what happened within the group.
(Pause)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is there really anything more to ask which is
fresh?

MS. STEEL: I am trying to check finally. That was just -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Just sit down and check. (Pause)

MS. STEEL: Can I ask you, you say the anti-McDonald's leaflets
were always displayed and available at the monthly open
meetings at Endsleigh Street which you attended, and then
you say "having been transported from 5 Caledonian Road by
members of the group". Do you remember which
anti-McDonald's leaflets, specifically?
A. I do not recall now which leaflets. There was usually
a range of the leaflets, and McDonald's leaflets, I recall,
being ones that were spread out, not in great number but
certainly brought there.

Q. Was it generally the case that anybody who came to the
meetings was welcome to put leaflets in the -- or it was
available to them to put leaflets in the centre of the
table, if that was what they wanted to do; or that is what
it appeared to be, anyway?
A. It would appear that way. I never saw anyone object
to, and I never saw any indication that anyone would be
objected to putting their leaflets there.

Q. Did you ever see who put the leaflets on the table?
A. I may have seen. I do not recall now.

MS. STEEL: Right. I will just check one other reference.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do it as quickly as possible, because it
seems to me that if there is nothing in your memory now,
that is probably it. Then we will go straight on with
Mr. Russell without a break.

MS. STEEL: No further questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

Re-examined by MR. RAMPTON Q.C.

MR. RAMPTON: I have got one thing I want to ask you about,
Mr. Pocklington. When you were being cross-examined on
Wednesday, you were talking about who you perceived to be
the regular members of the group. Do you remember that?
A. I do, yes.
