Day 276 - 09 Jul 96 - Page 46

actually -- that was later on, when Switchboard were
upstairs and the group had moved from the back office, that
the photographs were taken in, to the front office.
Switchboard moved upstairs and they then got a photocopier
and people would go out and photocopy things on that from
       time to time.

  Q. But it was not something that was frowned upon or seen as
rude, if somebody walked out of the room and came back 20
       minutes later?
       A. No.

  Q. Right. So, when we looked through the notes for example of
the inquiry agents, and it mentions may be 7 or 8 people
that had been noted to be at a meeting, would you accept
that that does not mean that those people were necessarily
in the room during each of the discussions that were taking
       place?
       A. Well.

  Q. Unless they were specifically noted that they were there
       present?
       A. Well, obviously they might have gone home or they might
have been out of the room. But I mean, I can't remember
       each individual occasion.

  Q. I am doing this in a sort of haphazard order to get to the
flavour of the London Greenpeace meeting. Do you have with
you the statement I made about Mrs Brinley-Codd giving out
a copy of the fact sheet to members of the public which you
mentioned? Can you read it to yourself?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. She has said she has read it already, so
she does not -- if you do need to read it again do, but I
       cannot believe you have to.

MR. MORRIS: You were present throughout the whole period; yes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Would you agree with what it says in that statement?
       A. Yes.

  Q. In its entirety?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Moving on from that then, you talked about the agents who
infiltrated London Greenpeace, how they were interested and
involved in general activities and anti-McDonald's
activities. How did that affect you, as somebody involved
in the group at the time?
       A. Well, there were very few people coming to meetings at
the time and, in fact, the meeting about the future of the
group in January was actually because attendance had tailed
off to such an extent that people were concerned that the
group might not carry on. So, obviously, when the private
investigators were coming we did not know they were private
investigators, they expressed interest in the group and in
the anti-McDonald's campaign and, you know, or they
basically kept the numbers up and kept the group going.
