can pick up an application, and you have to just fill out
the answers, like, questions about how much you are making
and how much of it goes where, type thing; and you hand it
in to the courthouse, because they have certain lawyers
       reserved for legal aid cases.

  Q. Chris Broom applied on behalf of everybody, all the
       intervenors?
       A. Right. He applied -----

  Q. In one go, on one form?
       A. Pardon?

  Q. He did that all in one go, on one form, or something?
       A. Yes. I was not there when he filled it out or picked
it up, so I am not sure how he did it.

  Q. "Following this, lawyers Parkinson, Parkinson and Pugsley
were instructed on our behalf, although to this day I do
not know who made these arrangements or who paid the
       lawyers."

You were in touch with the -- you met the parents, did you?
       A. I met -----

  Q. Mr. and Mrs. Morris and Chris Broom's father?
       A. Yes.

  Q. During this time?
       A. Well, the only parents I came into contact with myself
       was Mr. and Mrs. Morris.

  Q. Right. Who did you ask about who made the arrangements and
       paid for the lawyers?
       A. I asked Chris Broom. He said that he had gotten them
and they were going to take on our case, and I said, "How
are we going to pay for them", and he said he had applied
for legal aid. Then, about a week later, he said we were
denied the legal aid, and I said, "How are we going to pay
for them then", and he said, "I do not know. Let us wait
until this is over and then maybe we can all -- you know,
I will put in a certain amount of money and maybe ask the
parents for help to pay for our lawyers" -- for our lawyer,
       sorry.

  Q. You have said in your statement: "Following the failure of
legal aid, lawyers were instructed on our behalf, although
to this day I do not know who made these arrangements or
who paid for the lawyers." Chris Broom did not know -- is
that correct -- who paid for the lawyers, who arranged for
       them to represent you?
       A. Not that I -- I have asked him, and he said he does not
       know.

  Q. So they appeared out of thin air, did they?
       A. Who?

  Q. These lawyers?
       A. No. He went to them, I believe; like, as far as
I know, he went to them.
