MR. MORRIS: So is the situation that you found out, what, a
month, two months, or three months after you became
Supervisor or what about this?
A. I cannot recall the exact dates at the moment.

Q. It was not the first week you came -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would like you to help me, if you can, as
to approximately when it might have been?
A. OK. Do we have the clock cards? Do we not have some
of the clock cards, some of that information?

Q. No. Can I ask you this way, you say in your statement that
you cannot remember whether it was at a rap session which
you held, it is unusual for the Area Supervisor to hold rap
sessions within his own area; can you remember when that
rap session was, how long after you had taken over as Area
Supervisor?
A. No, but one thing that does, sort of, maybe help is
that after the incident I believe Sally Spurgeon went to
work at the Tolgate restaurant and then went to work at the
Leisure World restaurant, so a couple of months before the
opening of -- not long before he went on holiday and
produced his resignation.

Q. Let me make a note.
A. His resignation, was, what, 18th July, was it, and it
would have been probably May/June time, May/June time.

MR. MORRIS: So you found out about this matter round about
May/June?
A. Yes.

Q. Then you conducted an investigation, you said?
A. Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When I said we do not have the clock cards,
we have other documentation but not the original clock
cards themselves. Was there any other documentation which
might help you?
A. I mean, I have given as good a guess as I think I can.

Q. Could I ask you, I appreciate your last answer, but the
actual clocking, how long had that been done when you
looked into it before you were informed about it? What was
the time gap there, if any?
A. If my memory serves me right, I think we were talking,
and I really thought about the amount of money we repaid to
crew.

Q. Yes.
A. We had direct evidence of possibly a week or two prior
to the specific date, that is, information, albeit broken
in that maybe we had one night's clock card files ------

Q. But when you say the specific event, do you mean before you
were told, you had direct evidence prior to -----
A. No, when I was told about it and investigated the
situation, we then looked at clock card files which, and
