5 Q. Would you accept that ronald mcdonald in fact was used on
6 TV advertising in the mid 60s, or from 1965?
7 A. It is a surprise to me that we used it on national
8 advertising that early. My recollection was that it was
9 later in the 60s. I started my employment with McDonald's
10 in'63, just about the time that it he was local, he was
11 introduced as a local character. I do not recall, I would
12 not have had knowledge then of how much money was spent on
13 advertising, you know, advertising. But that was a lot of
14 money.

16 Q. Would you accept that the 1965 appearance of Ronald
17 McDonald on the TV advertising locally, nationally is
18 likely to be correct, having now read that?
19 A. Yes.

24 A. Litter is a problem. When you asked the question is
25 that a social problem, in comparison to what?

32 A. Yes, from time to time it does.

34 Q. What percentage of your business is take-away in America,
35 approximately?
36 A. Approximately half. That is counting our drive-through
37 business.

39 Q. Whether or not it is McDonald's fault or responsibility,
40 which has been brought up in the case before, it is a
41 reality, is it not, that McDonald's will not be able to
42 clean up the majority of their take-away environment/index.html">litter because it
43 will be gone from around their store?
44 A. Well, I think I have already entered in evidence before
45 that we try to police areas within a block radius around
46 our restaurants.

51 take-away trays you lose your control of the disposal by
52 the customer of the packaging once he or she walks out of
53 restaurant, or drives away from the drive-through?
