Day 276 - 09 Jul 96 - Page 17

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That was a misunderstanding was it?

MS. STEEL: Yes -- no, I was not suggesting that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I would like you to do when you come
back, because, if that was so, obviously that was evidence
I would have to consider. The alternative might be that it
contains, the box at some stage contained, leaflets which
had that front page on it, whether they were London
Greenpeace versions or Veggies's versions, even though the
box, you suggest, is largely a leaflet size as some boxes
one buys, note paper or whatever, and it is two stacked
side by side, whatever. So, if you care to make clear what
in fact you are suggesting the box contained when you come
back. And I am glad I raised it, because at least you can
tell me about that.

But the other thing is, in your photographs that you
took on the same day, and I do not have a plan or bundle
reference, I think we can see what may be the same man
holding what may be the same box, because I have it in my
mind that there were two photographs altogether out of all
the photographs which were taken from McDonald's and which
were taken with your camera where I can see the box in the
man's hand. Do you understand?

MS. STEEL: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So what might be helpful is when we do start,
I will say 20 to 12, so you can find that as well as get
sorted out if you care to look at that and tell me what, if
anything, you want to say about that. Do you understand?

MS. STEEL: Yes, I understand.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So, 20 to 12.

(Short adjournment)

MS. STEEL: If I start with what I was saying about the
photographs in tab -- was it tab 5?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, it was pink 2?
A. Yes, tab 5.

Q. Tab 5, photograph 4?
A. 4 is it?

Q. Well, that was the one that you were--
A. Right, yes, sorry, I have got 22. It is the same as
22. All I was saying about that is that it is not unusual
practice for people on demonstrations to make their own
posters, and that I think Mr. Nicholson was suggesting
something to the effect of 'he had a fact sheet'. I cannot
remember exactly what he said, and all I was saying is that
it is clearly too big to be a fact sheet and what it looks
as though he has done is taken a copy of the fact sheet,
the front cover, enlarged it on a photocopier and made it
into a poster, which is then stuck on the back of an old
