Day 277 - 10 Jul 96 - Page 61

Rampton was reading from the bottom of, it is page 68 in my
bundle, the first page of Mr. Pocklington's notes 25th
January 1990, you were saying "um" or "yes". Whatever may
be said in addition or in elaboration, is what
Mr. Pocklington has got down there, from the bottom of page
68, over the page to the end of the middle paragraph on
       page 69, accurate?
       A. Yes, it is accurate. Except the only thing is that it
does not mean that everybody in the group agreed with that,
that is all. But that was the view of anybody who was
interested in running the fayre. They obviously came to
the conclusion that it would be better to have a general --
well not just, oh I don't know -- a general London
       Greenpeace fayre.

MR. RAMPTON: I will go back to a question --
       A. People who participated in the discussion -- all I am
trying to say is that, generally, what he has written is
okay. It is just that if you read it as though that means
that every single person in the group agreed to that course
of action, that is not what happened. But obviously, the
general feeling was that the fayre should be a general
London Greenpeace fayre rather than an anti-McDonald's
       fayre.

  Q. Was the general feeling that the McDonald's book should be
       closed?
       A. I remember Mr. Morris arguing that people should move
       on from McDonald's.

  Q. And what about you?
       A. Me, I don't think I said one thing, either way or the
       other.

  Q. No, what did you think?
       A. What did I think?

  Q. Yes?
       A. I thought it was up to other people what they wanted to
get on with. I was interested in getting on with the IMF
campaign, so that is what I got on with.

  Q. So you had completely lost interest McDonald's by this
       date; had you?
       A. I had not lost interest. I am interested in any
campaign or activity to change society, to end exploitation
and oppression. However, that does not mean that I get
involved in every campaign and activity that is organised
or takes place towards that end.

  Q. Is it right that you were in charge of the, I think it is
described somewhere as a bankbook, it may be a chequebook,
that is meant for the group, or one that the people that
       was a signatory?
       A. I was not in charge of it. There was three
signatories, myself, Mr. Gravett and New Zealand John. But
       I don't think I became a signatory until after this time, I
think it was in 1990 something.

  Q. I am sorry, I missed that last answer?
