have any dates and this did not refer to me because I was
not on the telephone". Going over to complete that
paragraph at the top of the next page, page 3.

  THE WITNESS: Yes.

MR. RAMPTON (To the witness): You actually tell us the names of
       the people to whom it happened and who told you about it;
       is that right?
       A. That is correct, yes.

  Q. Now I want to ask you about page 5 and paragraph 10.
       A. Yes.

  Q. You have quite rightly corrected the description of Ray
Coton as the Area Supervisor because, of course, Ray Coton
       was the Manager?
       A. Yes, I think he was the Second Assistant Manager at the
       time.

  Q. How do you know that -----
       A. Sorry, First Assistant, sorry.

  Q. How do you know that Ray Coton told the Area Supervisor
       about the walk-out?
       A. Because he -- I am not sure about the exact nature of
the conversation, but he did go round the back of the store
and phoned him up, and he was not actually in his office
upstairs, he was just in the back room.

  Q. You heard the conversation, did you?
       A. No, I did not hear the conversation.

  Q. In fact, in the winter of 1987, Mr. Ray Coton was the
Manager of the store; he was not a Second Assistant at all?
       A. He must have been a First Assistant, he was -----

  Q. Will you accept from me that he became the Manager of the
       store on 2st August 1987?
       A. 1987, but this is winter of 87.

  Q. You mean 86/87?
       A. Yes, back .....

  Q. Sorry, that is my misunderstanding. You mean 1986/87
       winter, not 1987/88?
       A. That is right.

  Q. Now the next bit: "Sally was the floor manager and
T-shirts were given out". You wanted to change this in
some way which, I am afraid, I did not quite understand.
"I, myself and others who had organised this were warned
against collective activity". Have I got the amendment you
       want correctly?
       A. That is right, yes.

  Q. Who gave you a warning against collective activity?
       A. Trudie Jones.

  Q. So what you are telling us is that the next words: "He
