Day 262 - 13 Jun 96 - Page 26

  Q. About the blanked out part, did you ever, in the middle of
these meetings, make a note of something completely
unconnected to what was going on at the meetings?
       A. Unconnected to what was going on at the meetings?

  Q. Yes.
       A. Well, yes, if it involved, I suppose, details I had
found out concerning someone's identity. I suppose that
would be unconnected with what was going on at the meeting.

  Q. In the middle of it, you would not start talking about a
lunch you had with someone on a previous day or how you
your great-aunt was, or private information about the Kings
Investigation Bureau, or some other matter that you were
       dealing with?
       A. It seems unlikely.

  Q. It would all be about what was going on at the meeting and
what you had heard at the meeting and seen at the meeting?
       A. That was the intention of the reports, yes.

MR. MORRIS: You talked about Paul Gravett being keen to debate
with McDonald's, through the World Service BBC forum
       anyway; yes?
       A. I do not think I said he was keen to. I certainly
       said -----

  Q. Do you remember him being keen, that he felt it was a good
       opportunity?
       A. As far as I recall, I think he was -- yes, he would
       have liked to.

MS. STEEL: If we move on to 22nd February. This was a public
meeting at Endsleigh Street, and in attendance were
Paul Gravett, Helen Steel, Jane, Charlie and Jonathan, and
about 30 other people from various other groups. You say:

"The meeting continued through until approximately
10.10 p.m. Nothing of relevance to this case was said
during the course of the meeting."

       You confirm all that, yes?
       A. I do, yes.

  Q. Then you went to the Eliza Doolittle Public House, and you
       make a note:

"In the pub, the following information was learned.
Paul Gravett has not yet made press releases concerning the
refusal by McDonald's to take part in a debate on a BBC
World Service programme, but he said again that he intended
to make these press releases, as he sees them as a
       potentially significant propaganda victory for
London Greenpeace. It was also mentioned at one point that
both Paul Gravett and Jane have a strong involvement with
Hackney and Islington Animal Rights group."

       You can confirm that, yes?
       A. Yes, I can.
