       it before that.

MS. STEEL: If I could just say...

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Where are we going now?

MS. STEEL: I have looked through the entire bundles and as far
as I can see there is no earlier copy than that and, as
I put to, you Mr. Preston, the reality is you had not seen
that before you had decided to hire private investigators
with the intention of taking action against people involved
with London Greenpeace, and you have just thrown that into
your statement so that you could throw in the fire bombing
things and try and throw a bit of mud at us?
       A. That is not so.

  Q. Even though that incident was a Greenpeace International
       event?
       A. I did not care whose event it was. All I was worried
about was the effect on my McDonald's restaurant and its
customers and its staff. The fact remains it happened, and
it is well documented that it happened.

MR. MORRIS: You said you were not aware of London Greenpeace
group being the original European Greenpeace group, but you
are aware that London Greenpeace was formed in 1970 are
       you?
       A. That is what you say in your document. I am taking by
what you said as London Greenpeace group founded in 1970,
that is from a lift from your document.

  Q. Right. You are choosing to believe the document?
       A. Pardon me?

  Q. You are using the document as a ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, you can believe some bits of the document
       and not believe others.

MR. MORRIS: You can choose to believe the bits you want to
believe, can you not, especially when you are using them in
       a witness box?
       A. I did not write it. I am only reading the very first
       line.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How can he be asked about that? He can be
asked about it, but how can he usefully be asked about it?

MR. MORRIS: You said you wanted to find out the kind of group
that London Greenpeace was, why you sent infiltrators into
       the group?
       A. No, I did not say that. I said I wanted to find out
who was behind the publication of this document.

  Q. Of the facts sheet?
       A. And if, in fact, the Animal Liberation thing, if in
fact it was going to go further, having been through that
       which we had already experienced.

  Q. You were concerned, were you, by the third paragraph of the
