into. We get very, very few electric shocks at the
restaurants. I really cannot comment any further on that.

  Q. Do you really know how many electric shocks people get in
       the restaurants?
       A. We have a reporting system for electric shocks, whether
they are reportable or not. My people use that information
to follow up with the regional facilities engineers, to
identify if there is any particular equipment that perhaps
we need to look at the design of.

  Q. But there is a memo in the documents -- I cannot remember
who it is -- someone in senior management is complaining
that he is not being notified of electric shocks that are
       occurring?
       A. That was from Frank Frost who is one of the equipment
people, the facilities engineer for the North. That was
certainly near the beginning of the time that we set up the
monitoring system, and there was some concern that he was
getting told about all of the shocks.

  Q. But that might be the case now too, where if people only
get a minor shock they think: "Oh, it is not worth
       reporting"?
       A. The problem with any monitoring and measurement system
is it is only as good as it is followed. I am sure there
is probably not one single system that we have that is 100
per cent adhered to, because, again, people are involved
and none of us is perfect.

  Q. The crew have to do a health and safety class within three
weeks of starting, do they not?
       A. The initial orientation they do before they start, is
       my understanding of it.

  Q. It is the law that they have to do that?
       A. It is a legal requirement that we provide our employees
       with ---

  Q. With health and safety?
       A. -- and health and safety training.

  Q. Right, within the first few weeks?
       A. I do not think it actually says that. It just requires
us to provide them with the information, instruction and
supervision to enable them to carry out their job safely.
It is left to the employer to decide how to do that.

  Q. If you get volume pink XII, please? Turn to document 11,
Crew Training Programme. Page 416, the Fire, Health and
Safety class starts there. I do not know if you are
       familiar with this?
       A. Yes, although this particular class was updated quite a
long time ago and this is the older copy.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you help us in any way as to the date of
this document? It is listed as undated and I do not recall
whether we have actually had an indication of what its date
       may be.
       A. It is certainly one I am familiar with, but just
