1 terms of cholesterol, I believe it is 300, and that you
should do what you can in order to maintain your health
2 and to stay in good health, according to the government,
by staying within those limits. Clearly, if you are
3 counting those items, taking a look at our brochures,
which give you this information, you can do that by eating
4 at McDonald's.
5 Q. Is it not true that a lot of items McDonald's sells are
way over those limits?
6 A. I had seen that and I was unable to identify any item
that we sold without exception that was over any of the
7 standards, so I would be happy if you would direct me to
one of those.
8
Q. You want me to?
9 A. If you could.
10 Q. OK. Right. Unfortunately, the Hazleton laboratory
analysis is not very legible, so I cannot tell what
11 product this is, but if you want to turn to page 4C in the
tab.
12 A. OK, I am at 4C.
13 Q. Page 59F.
A. 59 -- which did you say? I just did not hear you.
14
Q. 59F.
15 A. Yes.
16 Q. Do you see in the second table, the table nearest the
bottom, "breakfast items" continued, the third item along,
17 in the sodium column it has 1,147 milligrams of sodium?
A. Yes, I cannot see what the product is.
18
Q. No, neither can I. That is why I was asking whether there
19 was a better copy.
A. I see that.
20
Q. In your advertisement which is on page 107 about sodium,
21 the recommendations from the Food and Nutrition Board of
the National Academy of Science is 1,100 milligrams. It
22 does go up to 3,300, but I believe that those limits are
for different types of people, for example, young people
23 and older people?
A. I see that. My understanding of the national average
24 is 3,000 milligrams of sodium a day. I do see there,
though, it says "a range of" -- and I do note that this
25 one product which you have shown me is slightly above the
range -- well, slightly above the lower end of the range.
26
Q. We will come back to exactly what the recommendations are,
27 but that is not the only product, is it? In the chart
above there is one that is 1,070 milligrams, which is just
28 under, and there is in the lower chart ----
29 MR. MORRIS: I think it is syrup.
A. It might just be syrup, yes.
30
MS. STEEL: In the lower charts there is, on the second to
