     1
         Q. Yes.
2 A. That would be -- I would have a broad overview over
that overlooking Perseco. Perseco's job is to make sure
3 they provide safe sanitary packaging to the McDonald's
              system.
     4
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Where are we going on this bit of it?
     5
MR. MORRIS: We are always going somewhere.
     6
MR. JUSTICE BELL: I know. It is a question whether it is in a
     7 useful direction.

8 MR. MORRIS: The point I was going to make which is not a long
              one -----
     9
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Why do you not put the bottom line?
    10
MR. MORRIS: I have to build up to a question, as you probably
    11 notice.

12 MR. JUSTICE BELL: You may not be asking the right chap.

13 MR. MORRIS: That is true, but you have looked at the content
              of McDonald's food?
    14 A. No.

15 Q. And its relation and its interface with the packaging?
              A. Only as it relates to packaging. We look at packaging
16 to ensure that it is free of anything poisonous or
deleterious. I have no expertise in the food area.
    17
         Q. I will leave what I was going to ask, but I will ask
18 something else that crossed my mind, which is that the
leeching problem from the packaging into hot liquids that
19 you serve in the restaurants, what are the concerns that
you have uncovered or looked into or are aware of
20 regarding the leeching from the packaging into the foods?
              A. I am not aware of what you are alluding to.
    21
         Q. Just give one example of polystyrene cups.
    22
         MR. JUSTICE BELL: Lemon tea.
23 A. That came up with Mr. Kouchoukos.

24 MR. MORRIS: That is right. Have you looked into that?
              A. Well, I know the reference from Mr. Lipsett's
25 testimony. I know what he is referring to, yes. I agree
with Mr. Kouchoukos' statement that he made in court.
    26
         Q. Which is?
27 A. Which is it is not a matter of leeching; it is a
matter of the lemon juice breaking down the cell walls
28 that we talked about before, which is, there is 93 per
cent air in polystyrene foam. The lemon juice can break
29 down the walls so it collapses, so it is not a matter of
migration or transfer; it is a matter of the packaging
    30 structure.
