  Q. I just note the crew to salaried staff is .77 per cent.
The tran X UK, No. 9, I note that the Northern region has
some vastly greater percentage for some reason. Is there
       any explanation for that?
       A. There may be an explanation but I do not know it.

  Q. I had a feeling that they may have gone to Scotland but
that would not be outside the UK. Is it possible that the
Scottish region would be considered a different region for
       that purpose?
       A. I think it is highly unlikely but I do not know.
I think if they transferred to Scotland they would be still
       going on the payroll.

  Q. You said that this is the kind of thing that might be
looked at by the Supervisor or Area Supervisor when they do
the personnel audit, would it, the reasons people are
leaving a particular store, to see how the store is getting
on, performing, whether there is discontent or whatever,
       yes?
       A. Right. I am not sure which document you are referring
       to.

  Q. This was the document that is the Personnel Procedures
       Evaluation Report?
       A. Right, but am I still looking at this one I was looking
       at?

  Q. Yes, what I am saying is this would be one of the documents
that would be looked at, would it?
       A. No, they would not look at document like this. They
would look at the terminated files and the reasons written
in there. They would be looking at the principle of it.
They would not be looking at that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: A single document which accumulated all the
       information for the store?
       A. That is right.

  Q. They would just browse through the files and see what sort
of reasons people were giving for leaving?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: That is something they would definitely do; they
would definitely look at that information?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And the Manager would know that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So it is not in the Manager's interest, is it, to write
down there is dissatisfaction with pay or conditions or
training or supervision or whatever the other matters are
under dissatisfaction, because that would count against the
Manager if they wrote that down?
       A. I think we can conceded yesterday, I said that there
are elements here where we accept that there is discretion
at the part of the Manager, and that there may be other
things like the resigning without notice which cover other
