regularly. It is not McDonald's obligation to go there.
We go there on a random but infrequent basis. The supplier
goes there on a regular basis. They would know if this was
going on on a continuous basis, there would be no question
       of that.

  Q. Well, there are various other references to breaches of the
codes of practice that Mr. Gregory accepts, but I will not
go through them all with this witness.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you want to break off there then?

  MS. STEEL: Yes.

                           (Short Adjournment).

MS. STEEL: In your Fact Book on page 25 of it?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You have got on the fifth paragraph down, "Chickens used
for McDonald's products are not reared in cages. They have
the freedom to move around at will"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Why is that then?
       A. Because they are not reared in cages.

  Q. What, none of the chickens for McDonald's products?
       A. Not the chickens, no; not for products, no.

  Q. You mean not for the meat?
       A. Well, a McDonald's product is not an egg.

  Q. An egg is not a product then?
       A. It is not a McDonald's product. It is a generic
       product.

  Q. McDonald's sells eggs?
       A. A McDonald's product would be Chicken Nuggetts or
Chicken Sandwich; that is a McDonald's product. That is
       what meant by that statement.

  Q. There is nothing in this Fact book, is there, about egg
       production?
       A. There may not be.

  Q. You would like people to think that you re not responsible
for chickens being kept in battery cages, would you not?
       A. Well, I think you could argue that same point on many
items. We cannot put every item in the Fact book.

  Q. Well, why tell people that chickens for McDonald's products
are not reared in cages? It is because people want to hear
they are not reared in cages?
       A. No, I have just explained to you that a McDonald's
product is a chicken McNuggett or a chicken sandwich. That
is what we are referring to.

  Q. Why should anyone want to know that?
       A. They may not. This is a Fact book of facts they may or
