Day 007 - 06 Jul 94 - Page 51
1 all think about more the arithmetic and the arithmetic is
wrong, you do not need to cross-examine a witness to
2 establish that. If one of his premises is wrong; one of
the basic facts he is using, that will come out in the
3 wash later, and we can re- do the arithmetic in the light
of the new information. I am trying to reassure you not
4 to worry if every stone remains unturned. Do you
understand? I do not think you will suffer because of it
5 in Mr. Kouchoukos's case.
6 ( Short Adjournment)
7 2.00 p.m.
8 Cross-examined by the defendants.
9 MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, my examination of Mr. Kouchoukos has
finished.
10
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.
11
Cross-Examined by the defendants.
12
MISS STEEL: Do you purchase and design all of McDonald's
13 packaging items for every store in the world?
A. No, we do not. Actually we do for every market with
14 the exception of Japan, Australia, New Zealand, but we are
certainly trying to get that business. So, those couple
15 of countries -- and Canada, excuse me.
16 Q. And Canada. I think you were saying that within the last
few years there have been a lot of changes in, for
17 example, the packaging used in the United States; is that
right?
18 A. There has.
19 Q. Right. It has mainly been changed to sandwich wraps; is
that right?
20 A. Mainly in that direction, yes.
21 Q. Although I think is it right that you still do use some
polystyrene foam for the breakfast items or something like
22 that?
A. Yes, there is a breakfast base and a lid.
23
Q. And for the hot cups?
24 A. And for the hot cups, coffee cups.
25 Q. The sandwich wraps: Have there been any sort of major
problems with this packaging or anything?
26 A. What type of problems might you be looking for?
27 Q. Has everything gone smoothly?
A. I think it was introduced to the stores relatively
28 smoothly. There has been a trade with some of the
operations of wrapping a sandwich takes a little longer
29 than it would if it was in a foam carton, that was a
little easier for the crew, but other than that,
30 everything went fairly well.
