Day 161 - 24 Jul 95 - Page 04
one had to write was "second assistant, Strand" to get that
down.

MISS STEEL: It was also relevant to get down the fact that she
had never been a Floor Manager.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Very well. All I think you should do,
Mr. Rampton, is just go along at a steady measured pace,
and then we must keep up with our notes.

MR. RAMPTON: Before you became a full-time salaried Second
Assistant at the Strand, where had you been working for
McDonald's?
A. I worked in Hounslow and I worked in Twickenham.

Q. Had you progressed from being an ordinary part-time crew
member up the scale; had you been a Floor Manager at
Twickenham?
A. Yes. From crew member, I became a training squad; from
training squad, I became a Floor Manageress.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you keep your voice right up, please,
Miss Anteneh?

MR. RAMPTON: So, crew member, training squad, Floor Manager?
A. Correct.

Q. And that was all part-time, was it?
A. That is correct.

Q. What was it, Miss Anteneh, that prompted you to join
McDonald's full-time?
A. Two things. One is, I could not go back home at that
moment; there was quite a problem back home. The main
reason is, there was attractive -- the promotion was
attractive, and there was opportunity to progress up the
ladder.

Q. What year was it that you first went to the Strand as a
full-time Second Assistant?
A. 1984.

Q. 1984. Did you become then a First Assistant?
A. Yes, I did.

Q. Eventually, you became the Manager?
A. That is correct.

Q. What year was that?
A. 1987.

Q. 1987. When you were working part-time as a student at
Hounslow and at Twickenham, what sort of hours did you do
during the week?
A. I did two nights and one weekend, which is Saturday.

Q. Did you do that all the time, during the term time as well
as during the holidays?
A. Holiday time, I went full-time. I work full-time in
holidays.
