Day 286 - 24 Oct 96 - Page 37
extract what I do think is important.

MR. MORRIS: Right. Just to say that Mr. Secrett does deal
with Costa Rica, amongst other matters; and, like
Mr. Carriere, he has a clear authority and expertise on the
subject. (Pause)

MR. MORRIS: I have virtually finished. I do not want to
embarrass the court by sitting here for five minutes,
trying to think. Effectively, I have finished with
Costa Rica. There may be a few points -----

MR JUSTICE BELL: You can pick them up in the morning. What is
the plan from now on? You are going to deal with
Guatemala. We have less on Guatemala than either of the
other two countries.

MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: And then what is -----

MR. MORRIS: There is the soya issue, which should not take
long, because it has been canvassed in quite a lot of
detail as a submission in previous hearings, when we were
applying for documentation ---

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: -- and it is a very, kind of, discrete issue.
There is also the methane point, which will not take more
than 10 minutes. So that there is not, actually, very much
-- maybe an hour, hour and a half.

Helen wants to start on the next issue. Well, she is
preparing to start on the next issue. I do not know if she
is going to be ready tomorrow to do that.

MS. STEEL: I have got various references. I was intending to
start on the animal section, and I have got various
references from transcripts, but they are not in order yet
and I have not finished typing up all the references.

MR JUSTICE BELL: Are you going to give them to me in a word
processed form?

MS. STEEL: That is what I am trying to sort out, yes, and
I hope that I will be able to do that. The other thing is,
also, that before I start on the meaning of that section of
the leaflet, I would actually quite appreciate being able
to get legal advice. We have got a provisional arrangement
to meet somebody at the weekend to discuss various legal
matters. So, I could spend some of that time discussing
that; and I think it would go a bit more smoothly if I was
to start on Monday.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, if you tell me that the result of that
is that you will give me word processed material with a
view to going more quickly, then I do not mind doing that.
I think you and Mr. Morris should make sure that you have
got some idea of scheduling within the time available, so
