Day 173 - 16 Oct 95 - Page 25

       A. I had never had any experience of getting an injunction
before, but I used the same firm of solicitors.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I know what is being put to you: you could go
to a decent Dublin solicitor who, if he or she wanted to,
could go to a member of the Irish Bar who had some
particular expertise in employment law. Where did
Mr. Stein come into all that?
       A. From recollection, the solicitor advised me to seek as
much help as I could and he was aware of the agreement
I had with McDonald's and the advice and the various people
that I could use, and I suggested that I contact him.

MS. STEEL: Who else from outside the McDonald's Company came
       over to give you advice?
       A. Steve Copeland; he visited to advise me on labour
       relations matters.

  Q. He stayed over there for some time, did he not?
       A. He stayed for a while, yes. I cannot recollect exactly
how long, but he stayed for a while.

  Q. Weeks, months?
       A. No, certainly not months.

  Q. Not months?
       A. He might have stayed a week, two weeks, perhaps.
I cannot recall. It was a long time ago.

  Q. Mr. Stein said that he stayed for about seven or eight
days. Does that accord with your recollection?
       A. I think he possibly did. There was a lot happening at
the time, so I cannot be specific how long people stayed,
because we had a pretty bad situation on our hands and
I was spending an awful lot of time just running the
       business.

MR. MORRIS: You said before that Mr. Stein only came for one or
two days, or one or two occasions. So is it possible
       that -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. In fact, he first of all said he came on
one occasion, but it was possible that it was more than
one, to the best of his recollection.

MR. MORRIS: Right. So if Mr. Stein says that he came for seven
or eight days, is it possible that you just do not remember
       how long ---
       A. I cannot recall how long it was.

  Q. -- he stayed?
       A. Yes. I mean, it is a long time ago. I would not
       remember details like that.

MS. STEEL: Was there anybody else other than Mr. Stein and
Mr. Copeland that visited to assist you?
       A. It would probably have been the normal type of visits
from equipment and construction advisers. We were -----

  Q. But in relation to the strike?
