Department and say: "What is the correct procedure here?
How do we do it? How do we treat them?" We would get
advice that way. I do not think any manager would just
enter into a work experience scheme without having first
thoroughly discussed it with the Human Resources
       Department.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It a tripartite responsibility, work
experience: the person whose workplace the youngster goes
to, the school which allows them to go there, and the
parent which allows them to go there?
       A. That is right.

  Q. In so far as the employer may know of a possible risk which
the parent or school could not anticipate, then I can see
that the person running the workplace may be in a better
position to judge the risk than the parents, or the parent,
or the school. But it is a tripartite responsibility, is
       it not?
       A. Certainly, I would agree with that, sir, yes. We have
actually got quite good relations with a lot of schools in
a lot of different areas, where the schools are very happy
when the children actually do come and work in the
       restaurants.

MR. MORRIS: Your region is not any different from any other
region in that respect, as far as you know?
       A. Not as far as I know.

  Q. Mr. Siamak Alimi who was here, do you remember that he was
on the training squad? Do you remember him as part of the
       training squad?
       A. I believe he got to that position towards the back end.

  Q. He would have to train all the new recruits, yes?
       A. Yes, that would be one of his job functions, yes.

  Q. Was there just one person doing that or were there two or
       others doing that?
       A. As I remember, probably had up to seven or eight
training squads in the restaurants. So any one of them
could be used to train other staff.

  Q. Although it is not regular throughout the year, how many
people roughly each week would there be to train -- just a
       rough guesstimate?
       A. One or two.

  Q. One or two each week?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So, say you had 60 a store and your turnover was 130 to 140
       per cent ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- you would be getting something like 80 people a year,
       something like that -- 80, 85?
       A. Sounds roughly right as a calculation, yes.

  Q. Would that relate to your one or two per week? That would
