Day 207 - 23 Jan 96 - Page 36

       A. I would say the audit indicates that those 20 marks out
of 30 -- I cannot comment on the comment on the previous
month; there are no figures there.

MR. MORRIS: I think we have finished on that subject. It may
be a convenient time to break?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Two o'clock.

                      (Luncheon Adjournment)

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord before the cross-examination continues,
would your Lordship say that Mr. Perret, who is next after
Mr. Cox who is next after Mr. Ingham, could go today?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Can we just work out, if it is at all
possible, how we are likely to go, and then I can give
       times for the witnesses involved.

MR. RAMPTON: There is only Mr. Cox and Mr. Perret to come, so
       far as we are concerned.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What do you think about Mr. Henden, the rest
       of Mr. Henden's cross-examination?

MR. MORRIS: Our general feeling is that Mr. Henden will take up
the rest of this afternoon and that we are going to attempt
to finish the other two tomorrow. Obviously, we do not
have to go through the documents in such great detail,
having gone through them with Mr. Henden.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think Mr. Cox had better stay, just in
case, but we will say not before 12.00 for Mr. Perret
tomorrow. That is realistic, is it?

  MR. MORRIS: I think so.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. If when we get to the five-minute break
you are certain that you will not finish Mr. Henden, let me
know and Mr. Cox can go then. If we can start Mr. Cox even
for a short while this afternoon, so much the better. But
       we will wait and see.

MS. STEEL: OK. (To the witness) In paragraph 21 of your
       statement, you talk about understaffing.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is yellow XB, 39H, Mr. Henden. Do you
       have it?
       A. I have.

  Q. If you put it in front of you, then you will not have to
turn your back on the court.

MS. STEEL: You say: "It is alleged by Mike the store was
constantly understaffed. I have checked the crew in
store...." Can I just ask, are the crew in store on each
       hour sheets in the bundles?
       A. I think they are.

  MR. RAMPTON: Yes.
