Webbin is a platform-independent plug-in for Web servers. It allows network managers and users to view, search, and modify Open System Interconnection (OSI) data without the need for proprietary Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP) tools. All processing and HTML formatting is completed on the HTTP server side, so there is no need to install CMIP tools on the client side. The results are simple HTML documents that users can read, render, and customize.

Webbin includes a liaison that determines the validity of tasks and prevents users from issuing invalid requests. The Liaison also enables users to perform management tasks more efficiently by issuing local requests instead of remote ones.

In AIX, Webbin accesses SNMP, CMIP, and CORBA. In Linux, Webbin accesses SNMP.
