The endangered jaguar.
The jaguar is the strongest animal in South America. The range it covers is very large; for example, one jaguar moved in an area covering more than 800 km. But their numbers have decreased steadily because they were hunted for their fur, or starved to death because the woods, which had provided the with food, had been cut down. Now, international trade of its fur is prohibited, and it is strictly protected. But we can't stop this decreasing phenomenon.
