Using PABTool
The power and simplicity of PABTool is the key to its usability. Its open design and embedded functionality create turnkey address translation. To begin using the tool you first need to consider what operation you are trying to accomplish. In other words, you need to know what the source and destination of your address list will be. For example, if you are attempting to move your address list from MS Exchange to a spreadsheet for viewing, then your source is the Exchange PAB (MAPI) and your destination will be tab-delimited text (or PABTool format).
Once inside the program, you will see a list of import and export formats available to you. In the case of MAPI, selecting it will log you into your address book to be used as the source or destination. When you translate, both an import and export format will need to specified, and the source and destination files must be chosen (except in the case of MAPI). When you import or overwrite an existing PAB file, you will need to confirm the changes.
In general you need to obtain the address book from the source e-mail program, and you will need to upload your translated addresses into the destination program. The process for doing this varies from program to program, and in some cases is not necessary. Once the source and destination formats and files have been chosen, clicking the Translate button will convert your address book.
Now that you have a rough idea of how PABTool works, lets see how the actual PABTool importing and exporting processes work.
