Description: CD-Rom cover disc attached to the April 2000 edition of PC Plus magazine (UK). This disc contains what appears to be the October 1999 1.0 release of the 'BT Phone Disc', a compilation of all of the UK's telephone directories on CD-Rom, searchable via the included software. The disc was intended to be used on a subscription/licenced basis, and was encrypted to prevent bulk data extraction. As presented here, the disc allows unlimited address lookups, and 20 telephone number lookups. (Additional lookups could be purchased via subscription.) The software can be installed or run directly from disc. Note that if your system clock is set far beyond the year 2000 the program will not run and indicate that the licence has expired. Setting the clock back allows the software to run. The disc cover indicates that the software requires Windows 95 or later - it certainly still ran correctly on Windows XP and at first glance appears still to run under Windows 10.
