WB8YQJ/6 Computer Logging Program
Don Rasmussen, Oceanside Ca.
November 1990.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for taking the time to download this logging program.
It was written to be the easiest way to get
entries written in your hamlog moved to your computer.
* The data entry is simple easy and fast.
* You can use it to look up a call you made a long time ago,
while you are operating your transceiver.
* You can print reports of your log that are sorted as you like
and are easier to read than your actual log.
* This program is NOT for computer experts, just regular folks.
The program can be run from a floppy or a hard disk, wherever
you have the most room, just execute HAM.EXE
Time can be entered in GMT, UTC, AM/PM, or whatever you like.
The first position of the name and comments fields are automatically
capitalized, no need to be looking for the shift key all the time.
If you add or delete log entries , the program will ask you if
you want to squeeze the log when you quit the program. This is
only necessary if you want to keep your file small, like when
you are using a single floppy. The only limit to the number of
record entries is the size of your disk.
The location field is filled with CITY, the Country field is
filled with State for USA contacts, or country for DX contacts.
The only commands you need to know are, press the return key
to advance a field, press CTL W to accept a record, and the
up cursor key is used to back up a field. In addition to CTL W,
the page down key also accepts the record displayed.
If you dont want to enter all your old contacts, just start
with todays and keep up with it, you will be surprised how
fast the new log will fill.
The reports can give a great overall view of your operating
habits, analyze them carefully and you can learn alot you
didn't know about your operating tendencies. The report by
frequency and date for example is sorted my MHZ first, and
then by date. This answers the question, what did I do last
year on 40 meters? As most people spend alot of time on
various bands, so this summary can be very insightfull.
Please write me a letter if you like the program, have a
question, or have a suggested change to the program,
keeping in mind that too many commands and control keys
can spoil a good program!
