Brief summary of PXDB operation/features
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
PXDB (PrefiX DataBase) is for the ham radio prefix chaser. It consists
of two executable programs (PXSETUP.EXE & PX.EXE) and miscellaneous data
and documentation files; PXDB is a specialized database program designed to
keep a running record of prefixes, worked and confirmed, for CQ Magazine's
WPX Award program. ('CQ' & 'WPX' Copyright (c) CQ Communications, Inc.)
PXDB runs under MS-DOS/PC-DOS ver. 2.1 or later on an IBM-PC or compatible
computer with either a color or monochrome display; an 80-column printer is
needed to print log data to mail to the WPX Award manager for application
and endorsements.
PX can be "on-line" and running while you are on the air tuning for new
prefixes to work (such as in the CQ-WW-WPX contest). PX can maintain log
files for Mixed, CW and/or SSB modes (one log file needed for each mode).
PX can also optionally maintain log data for the WPX Honor Roll. PX
IS NOT designed to sort prefixes by band, mode or continent as is needed
for the WPX Award of Excellence since any good shareware or commercial
database program should handle that task well enough, and the Award of
Excellence is a one-time affair whereas the general WPX Award and WPX
Honor Roll are ongoing in nature.
PXDB is shareware; you are given 60 days to try the program and if you
like it and continue to use it, a registration fee of $30.00 is requested.
