SLIDER V1.2
Copyright (c) 1991
By Greg Spurrier
Hello and welcome to Slider. Slider is a puzzle game like
the old puzzle with the numbers 1 through 15 on a board and a
blank space. The object of the game was to slide the numbers
around on the board until they were in order.
Slider is just like that (sort of). Slider uses pictures
instead of numbers and the player can choose between a 4x4, 5x5,
or 6x6 playing grid.
Slider is menu driven so it is easy to use and requires
little explanation. All you have to do is use the up and down
arrow keys to select the menu item you want and then press enter,
or, you can type the number of the menu item and then press
enter.
Menu Items:
==== =====
1> Play Game
This starts the game with the options which are shown on the
bottom of the screen--play mode and picture.
Playing is simple: use the arrow keys to move the blue
square, which represents the blank space, around the board. When
the square is moved, it switches places with the block that was
in it's new place. For example:
If the blocks looked like this (* is the blank space):
A B C D
E F G H
I J K L
M N * O
and the right arrow was pressed, the blank space would switch
places with the O and the new board would look like this:
A B C D
E F G H
I J K L
M N O *
To aid you in unscrambling the picture, the correct picture
is displayed to the left of the playing board so that you can
always see where the pieces should end up to win the game.
Once all of the have been put pieces in their proper places,
some music will play and a congratulations message will appear.
After that the main menu will be once again displayed.
If you want to quit playing and go back to the main menu
prior to completing the picture, just press the ESC key.
2-4> Grid Sizes
By selecting one of these menu items, the play mode (dis-
played at the bottom of the screen) is changed to play mode
selected. Choose menu item 2 for 4x4 grid, 3 for 5x5 grid, and 4
for 6x6.
5> Change Picture
This menu selecting changes the picture to be used when
playing. Currently there are four pictures to choose from. The
name current picture is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
6> Exit
This one quits the game and returns you to DOS.
