********************************ROCKS 486*************************************
Fly your spaceship around various space rocks, while shooting at them and
defending yourself against hostile alien saucers!
ROCKS requires a 486sx with a Super VGA card and monitor. If you only have VGA
try runing 'ROCKSVGA' it is slower and has slightly different colors. A slower
machine can be used, but it's not as fun.
*******************************************************************************
Next page for instructions...
Controls:
---------
Rotate left: Left arrow
Rotate right: Right arrow (duh :-)
Fire: Left ALT key
Thrust: Left SHIFT key
HyperSpace: SpaceBar
Force next ship: Right CTRL key
Start new game: Enter
After a ship has been destroyed, the game will wait for a clearing in the
center of the screen and place your next ship there. If it takes too long for
this to happen, just hit the Right CTRL key to force the new ship to appear.
Hyperspace sends your ship to a random location on the screen. This is very
dangerous, as it could very well land you on top of a rock. There is also
some danger that your ship will be destroyed in Hyperspace even if it doesn't
land on anything! (use only in case of emergency)
Customizing:
------------
To adjust the controls for different keyboard layouts, hit F1 and select
the reconfigure controls option by pressing r. Other options are available
on the help screen and during game play (see the F1 help screen). Saving
options will cause ROCKS to use the same ship controls and color the next
time you run it.
BUGS: (Hey, at least I'm letting you know)
-----
There is a bug which sometimes causes the program to lock-up on the help
screen. I'm not sure why, but it seems to go away if you turn off NumLock
before starting the program.
ROCKS has one minor but potentially nasty bug. The program speeds up the
computers internal clock about 3 times. So if you play for one hour starting
at 1:00, then check the time, the computer may say about 4:00. The clock will
return to normal the next time you turn on the computer or reboot. This is
no concern of mine, but it may be inapropriate for some people. I have no
time to fix this (some assembly required), so maybe next game :-)
ROCKS is shareware, so go ahead, give all your friends a copy of rocks486.zip
Please don't distribute the unzipped files. If you continue to use/play ROCKS
for more than a week, you must register your copy with me by sending $10.00
along with your name to:
Paul H. Kahler
52325 Southdown Rd.
Shelby twp MI, 48316
At this time registration has no benefits except allowing you to legally
continue using the program, and encouraging me to produce more games. So
support the shareware concept and register!

You have been warned of all bugs known to me, and any others are strictly
your problem :-)
:-) Just type 'rocks' and get on with it! :-)
