*************************************¢ WIRING THE ZONES¢ Chapter #4¢*************************************¢There are as many ways to wire this ¢as there are people that own ATARI ¢computers. ¢ I will give you two examples that ¢should help you in setting up your¢home security system.¢ The first way is simple and does not¢require too many parts and most handy¢people will be able to do it with¢no problems.¢The second is a little harder but¢still should be easy enough for most¢handy people to handle.¢¢XXX¢ Since this program uses the¢joystick ports, You will need to buy¢two joystick extension cables.¢I have provided the color code for ¢the RADIO SHACK joystick extension¢cable.¢Cables bought elsewhere may vary.¢If you do use a differant cable ¢you will have to check the wiring¢using a ohm meter.¢XXX¢¢*************************************¢ BASIC DIAGRAM¢*************************************¢¢The first diagram is a simple one that¢uses the T.V. as the output device.¢I only show one port because both¢are wired the same. The difference is¢in the software. When plugged into¢port one you get zones 1 thru 4 and¢a reset. In port 2 you get zones¢5 thru 8 and a bypass switch.¢So, if you're going to hook up both¢ports make sure they are labeled and¢that you put them in the proper port¢when you start the program.¢XXX¢Zones 1 & 2 have the two delays¢assigned to them so these should be¢the front or back doors. Zones 3 & 4¢are just normal zones. You can put as¢many doors or windows on each zone as¢you want. So if you're not going to¢use the internal zones (5-8) you¢won't need the bypass switch because¢it only works on zones 5-8.Then, you¢can put the front door on zone one¢the back door on zone two, and split¢all the other doors and/or windows¢between zones 4 & 5.¢XXX¢Let's use zone #1 as an example.¢Using the RADIO SHACK cable, the¢green wire is the one used for¢zone one and the gray wire is the¢return side for each zone.So you ¢must run two wires to the front door¢connect one to the green wire and the¢other to the gray wire. As I said ¢before the gray wire will be used for¢all the zones so you will have a lot¢of wires connected to the gray wire.¢XXX¢The device that you wire up at the ¢door or window must have its contacts¢open when the door or window is closed¢so when the door opens the alarm will¢go off.¢If you are going to wire more than¢one door or window to each zone you ¢can do it in two ways;¢1) By running a 2nd set of wires to¢ the other door using the same¢ set as the first.¢2) By running two wires from the ¢ first door to the 2nd door.¢Either way will do the job.¢XXX¢*************************************¢ BASIC + DIAGRAM¢*************************************¢The only differance with this setup¢is that I have added the output device¢and the exit delay switch.¢The exit delay switch is the easy¢part. Just put a switch in place of¢a door or window for zone #3 only¢and make the proper changes using the¢option menu.¢XXX¢¢The output device is also pretty ¢easy. All you have to do is run wires¢from the orange wire to the negative¢(-) side of the sona alert and one¢from the gray wire to the positive¢(+) side of the sona alert.¢This can be done on either or both¢ports it will work either way.¢So if you want you can have two¢sona alerts wired up.¢XXX¢¢ In order to try and keep the cost of¢this program down, I have provided¢all the wiring and diagrams on the¢disk itself.¢I realize that it may be hard for¢some of you to figure out what I've¢said or how to do it.¢If this is so, please send me a self-¢addressed stamped envolpe With a note¢saying you want the hard copy of the ¢diagrams and I will send you those ¢diagrams and wiring instructions.¢My name and address is listed in the¢summary chapter.¢XXX¢
