* WARNING - Maximizer 5.0 Address Book Folder Compatibility *
*************************************************************
1. MAXIMIZER ADDRESS BOOK FOLDER COMPATIBILITY
----------------------------------------------
Enhancements to Maximizer 5.0 have resulted in a change to the
structure of some of Maximizer's data files.
If you try to open data in Maximizer 5.0 that was created with
versions prior to this release or the release of Maximizer
Enterprise 4.0, you will be prompted with two warning messages.
If you choose to proceed and open the data, the data will be
converted to the new file format. Note that this conversion
process is password protected and can be completed only by the
MASTER user. After the data is converted, older versions of
Maximizer will not be able to read it.
It is always a good idea to backup any Address Book Folder before
performing a conversion. You can backup Maximizer Address Book
Folders from the Utilities>Backup Address Book Folder menu, which
is available after choosing File>Close Address Book Folder.
If you attempt to open an Address Book Folder that has been
converted to the Maximizer 5.0 file format with an older version
of Maximizer, you will receive an Error Code of 51. If you get
this error, the only way to regain access to your data will be to
upgrade to Maximizer 5.0, Maximizer Enterprise 4.0 or subsequent
releases of either product. If you are using Maximizer with a
network Address Book Folder, all users' computers who access the
same shared Address Book Folder must be upgraded at the same time.
Older versions of Maximizer Link for PalmPilot, Maximizer PilotLink
and Pocket Maximizer are not compatible with data that you have
created or accessed with Maximizer 5.0. These programs must
be updated to Maximizer Link for PalmPilot 4.0 and Pocket
Maximizer 4.0 or later releases.
2. AND ROUTE 98 FOR MAXIMIZER
-----------------------------
For best performance when using AND Route 98 for Maximizer,
select the default option of 'Road Networks Remain on CD ROM'
during its installation.

* E-mail - Using with Maximizer *
*********************************
3. IF YOU PLAN TO USE E-MAIL WITH MAXIMIZER
-------------------------------------------
Only 32-bit E-mail systems that comply fully with either the Messaging
Application Programming Interface (MAPI) or Vendor Independent Mail
(VIM) E-mail standards are compatible with Maximizer. As of the release
of Maximizer 5.0 (May 1998), tested compatible E-mail systems include:
E-mail Client Application Vendor Tested Versions

cc:Mail Lotus 8.0, 8.1
Eudora Pro Qualcomm 3.0.2, 3.0.3, 4.0
Exchange Microsoft 4.0, 5.01
GroupWise Novell 5.2 (excluding remote)

Lotus Mail Lotus 4.52
4. NOVELL GROUPWISE, LOTUS CC:MAIL (MAPI), LOTUS MAIL (MAPI)
------------------------------------------------------------
If you are using any one of the above E-mail service provider
applications, select the corresponding option in the Advanced
E-mail Preferences (File > Preferences > E-mail tab).
Otherwise a program fault error will occur when using the
E-mail window. For Lotus cc:Mail and Lotus Mail you also must
have the 'Override Extended MAPI' option selected in the
File > Preferences > E-mail tab.
IMPORTANT NOTE - If you have problems with the Maximizer E-mail
window working with your E-mail service provider application,
please contact Maximizer Technical Support for information on
Advanced E-mail Preferences (File > Preferences > E-mail tab).
5. MICROSOFT EXCHANGE
---------------------
If you are using a version of Microsoft Exchange prior to version
5.0 and you have the 'Use E-mail Service Provider's Editor to Read
Messages' option selected in E-mail Preferences, the Reply, Reply
All, Forward, Previous and Next buttons will not work when you
open a message in the Maximizer E-mail window. You must upgrade
to Microsoft Exchange version 5.0.
6. OUTLOOK 97/98
----------------
If you are using Outlook 97 or Outlook 98 and you have the 'Use
E-mail Service Provider's Editor to Read Messages' option selected
in E-mail Preferences, the Reply, Reply All, Forward, Previous and
Next buttons will not work when you open a message in the Maximizer
E-mail window.
7. OUTLOOK EXPRESS 98 VERSION 4.72.2106.4
-----------------------------------------
In order to use Outlook Express with Maximizer 5.0, the following
procedures must be used:
1. Start the Outlook Express E-mail client.
2. Select the Tools option from the main menu bar and choose
Options, the tabbed Options dialog box will be displayed.
3. Choose the General tab and enable the option entitled, "Make
Outlook Express my default Simple MAPI client".
4. After you click Yes to confirm this option, a header entitled
[Mail] and a setting of MAPI=1 are inserted in the Windows
WIN.INI configuration file.
You can now successfully use Outlook express with Maximizer.
8. Lotus Notes
--------------
When prompted with the 'Log Into VIM Mail System' dialog box, you
should not enter a message Container path. If you do, the following
error message will be displayed:
"VIM returned an error.
Status = 5; Extended status = 0"
You must instead login by specifying a User Name and Password only.
9. GroupWise 5.2
----------------
A) Installation:
The GroupWise client must be installed with the "standard
install" option. If you perform a "workstation install" you
will not be able to access the GroupWise mailbox from
Maximizer.
B) Using GroupWise 5.2 with Windows 95 Original or Windows 95A:
The Microsoft Exchange Update for Windows 95 (EXUPDUSA.EXE)
must be installed in order to ensure that all the correct
MAPI support files are present. This will update the
appropriate files to version 4.00.834.839. This update can
be downloaded at the following URL:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/info/system-updates.htm
C) GroupWise Addressing Rules:
When sending E-mail via the File > Send E-mail command, or
when replying to an E-mail opened in the E-mail Inbox, you
may receive the following error message: "Message not sent.
Address book entry does not have an E-mail address or the
address could not be resolved." This error may be resolved
by creating a GroupWise addressing rule to remove the
"NGW:" E-mail type identifier that GroupWise prefixes at
the beginning of addresses.
NOTE: If your GroupWise system is configured with a X.400,
X.25, SNADS, Office Vision or GroupWise Internet
Agent (GWIA) gateway, you should consult Novell
Development before you apply this addressing rule.
Creating a GroupWise Addressing Rule:
Please note that before these configuration changes can be
made, the Novell NetWare Administrator must be configured
for GroupWise operations.
a. From the NetWare Administrator - Nwadmnnt (Windows NT) or
Nwadmn95 (Windows 95) - access the Tools menu and choose
GroupWise System Operations.
b. From the GroupWise System Operations dialog double click
the Addressing Rules icon, the Define Addressing Rules
dialog box will be displayed.
c. Click the New button, the New Addressing Rule dialog box
will be displayed.
d. Enter the following information in the fields of this
dialog box:
Description: Remove NGW
Name: Remove NGW
Search string: NGW:*@*.*
Replace with: %1@%2.%3
e. Click OK to save this addressing rule.
To apply the addressing rule:
a. From the NetWare Administrator, access the Tools menu
and choose GroupWise View..., the GroupWise View screen
will now be displayed.
b. In the upper panel, select the GroupWise domain.
c. Access the Object menu and choose DETAILS, the GroupWise
Domain dialog box will be displayed.
d. Click the Address Rules button, the "Remove NGW"
addressing rule you previously created will be
displayed.
e. Click the Checkbox for this addressing rule to activate
it, then click OK to save the selection.
Removing the NGW E-mail type identifier will not effect the
sending and routing of E-mail messages on your Netware LAN.
D) GroupWise Remote:
All Maximizer E-mail features are supported by GroupWise
Remote with the exception that file attachments
originating at GroupWise Remote clients cannot be viewed
in the E-mail Inbox. To view such attachments, the "Use
E-mail service provider's editor to read messages" option
must be checked in E-mail preferences.

* Accessing Address Book Folders Using UNC vs. Drive Mapping *
**************************************************************
10. NETWORK ADDRESS BOOK FOLDER DRIVE MAPPING
--------------------------------------------
If you are using a network Address Book Folder, it is preferable
to map a network drive letter to your Address Book Folder location
rather than specifying the path with the Universal Naming
Convention (UNC). The reason for this is that you may receive
various error codes if your UNC path does not follow the DOS eight
character plus three-letter file extension for each
folder/subfolder specified. If you cannot map a network drive,
ensure that your UNC file path follows the DOS "eight plus three"
rule.
