WHAT IS WINIMAGE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WinImage is a disk image management utility. A disk image is a file
which contains all floppy disk data (boot sector, FATs, directories
and files) of a standard or non-standard format floppy disk.
WinImage reads and writes in the standard and non-standard disk
formats now in use by IBM, Microsoft and others, and allows you to
take advantage of Windows'95 and Windows NT 4.0 internal DMF disk
support.
Standard Formats Supported:
160kb, 180kb, 320kb, 360kb, 720kb, 1.2mb, 1.44mb, 2.88mb.
Non-standard Formats Supported:
820kb, 1.68mb, DMF 1024 cluster, DMF 2048 cluster, and 1.72mb.
By making an image of a floppy disk and writing that image to another
floppy disk, you get an exact copy of the original disk. You can
read a floppy and create an exact image of that floppy as one file on
a hard disk. Later, without using the original disk, you can extract
a file from the image, just as if you had copied it from the original
floppy disk. You can write the image to another floppy disk, without
needing the original disk, and have an exact copy of it.
This utility works where DOS diskcopy can not because of non-standard
disk formats.
Format 1.68mb disks that can be used with Windows'95 and Windows NT
4.0 internal DMF support.
Unlike some other disk image utilities, WinImage's write verification
works! and you imediately know if the copy, or format, was a success.
There is more information on WimImage and disk formats, including DMF
formats, in the online Help.
With WinImage you can...
- Create disk images
- Use non-standad disk formats
- Format standard and non-standard disk formats
- Load an image file
- Create an empty image
- Extract files from an image
- Add files to an image
- Defragmentate and image file
- Read images created with other disk image utilities
- Duplicate many non-standard disks that DiskCopy will not copy
WinImage has all the Windows functionality you would expect and want.
