  33. WHAT IS WINIMAGE
  34. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  35. WinImage is a disk image management utility.   A disk image is a file
  36. which contains all  floppy disk data (boot  sector, FATs, directories
  37. and files) of a standard or non-standard format floppy disk.

  39. WinImage  reads and  writes  in the  standard  and non-standard  disk
  40. formats now  in use by  IBM, Microsoft and others, and allows  you to
  41. take advantage  of Windows'95  and Windows NT  4.0 internal  DMF disk
  42. support.

  44. Standard Formats Supported:
  45. 160kb, 180kb, 320kb, 360kb, 720kb, 1.2mb, 1.44mb, 2.88mb.

  47. Non-standard Formats Supported:
  48. 820kb, 1.68mb, DMF 1024 cluster, DMF 2048 cluster, and 1.72mb.

  50. By making an image of a floppy disk and writing that image to another
  51. floppy disk,  you get an  exact copy of  the original disk.   You can
  52. read a floppy and create an exact image of that floppy as one file on
  53. a hard disk.  Later, without using the original disk, you can extract
  54. a file from the image, just as if you had copied it from the original
  55. floppy disk.  You can write the image to another floppy disk, without
  56. needing the original disk, and have an exact copy of it.

  58. This utility works where DOS diskcopy can not because of non-standard
  59. disk formats.

  61. Format 1.68mb disks  that can be used with Windows'95  and Windows NT
  62. 4.0 internal DMF support.

  64. Unlike some other disk image utilities, WinImage's write verification
  65. works! and you imediately know if the copy, or format, was a success.

  87. INSTALLATION
  88. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  89. Installation is simple.  WinImage and it's  files, can be placed into
  90. any directory,  a desktop  icon or  short-cut can  be created  in any
  91. folder.

  93. WinImage comes in 16 bit and 32 bit (Win32s) versions.  Under Windows
  94. 3.x, WinImage must be installed by creating an icon in any folder.

  96. Under Windows'95 and NT 4.0, WinImage should be installed by creating
  97. an icon in any folder, then upon the first use, WinImage will install
  98. Registry information.

  100. The  32 bit  versions  of WinImage  should be  removed  by using  the
  101. ADD/REMOVE function of the Control Panel under Windows'95 and Windows
  102. NT 4.0.

  106. REGISTERING WINIMAGE

  108. WinImage is  a shareware product, you  may copy, distribute,  and try
  109. it, but if you use it after the evaluation period, you must register.
  110. When you  register you will receive  a license, a  registration code,
  111. and the latest release.

  113. Registration is  150francs or $30.00 (US  dolars) and may be  paid by
  114. check, postal money order, or credit card.
