Be courteous to other users by always disconnecting from EarthLink when you're no longer using the connection.
Just click on the "Disconnect" button in the Dialer. This frees your connection and makes it available for other callers.

Local, Toll and Long Distance Calls
It's important to be certain that the number you use to connect to EarthLink is a local call,
unless you don't mind paying additional charges.
EarthLink can not be responsible for additional charges you might get if you call a number outside your local area.
Please check with your local phone company if you're not sure that the number you're calling is local for you.

Changing the Number Your Modem Dials
Use the Dialer to manage the number your modem calls to connect to EarthLink.
In the ToolBar, click on the "Dialer" button, then click on "Configure" to view and select from a list of available numbers.

Check the Caps Lock Key
Having trouble connecting after typing your user name or password?
A common problem is that the "Caps Lock" key is on.
Be sure to check it when entering your user name and password.

Personalize Your Start Page
Your personal start page can be customized.

Customize Toolbar Appearance and Behavior
Click your right mouse button on the EarthLink logo on the ToolBar
to get a menu that lets you customize how the ToolBar looks and behaves.

Rearranging Buttons
To rearrange buttons on the Toolbar just hold down the mouse button and drag it to a new position.

Starting the Toolbar
If you close the Toolbar and want it back, you can start it again like any other program.
Just click on the Windows "Start" button on your desktop.
Under "EarthLink Network" select "EarthLink Toolbar."

Add Toolbar Buttons
You can add a new button to the ToolBar by dragging an icon from an open
folder on the desktop and dropping it onto the Toolbar.

Customize Toolbar Buttons
To make changes to a Toolbar button, right click on it and choose "Properties."

Auto-Hide
The Toolbar can hide out of sight until you need it.
This is handy when you want plenty of room on the screen for other applications.
Right click on the EarthLink logo on the ToolBar and choose "Autohide."

On-Top and Docking Modes
If your Toolbar won't dock on the edge of your desktop,
click the right mouse button on the logo and select "Dockable."

Toolbar and the System Tray
Toolbar can move out of the way until you want it back.
Just right click on the EarthLink Logo and choose "Move to tray."
To restore it, double click on its tray icon in the lower, right corner of the desktop.

Folder Buttons
The ToolBar has special buttons called "Folder buttons" which work like containers to hold other buttons.
Folder buttons have a small folder image and a down arrow on the background.
Click one with your left mouse button to open it.
Click with the right mouse button to see the menu that allows you to change the contents and look of the folder.

Making the Toolbar Smaller
Right click on the EarthLink logo on the ToolBar and
choose "Small buttons" to shrink the size of the Toolbar's buttons.

Connecting to the Internet
The best way to connect to EarthLink using a modem is by using the EarthLink Dialer on the ToolBar.

Did you know that Support Wizard on the ToolBar can automatically fix many connection problems?
The Support Wizard icon is the one with the Wizard's hat and wand.

You can Group Buttons Together
You can group your Toolbar buttons into different Toolbar "folders."
Use your right mouse button to click on the EarthLink logo on the ToolBar and select "New folder."
Choose a name and an icon for it.
The folder button will have a small folder image and a down arrow on the background.
If you drag another button from ToolBar and drop it over a folder button,
the button will move into the folder.

Changing the Name of a Button
You can change the name of a button.
Click the right mouse button on the button you want to change, then choose "Properties" from the menu.

Removing a Toolbar Button
To remove a ToolBar button, click the right mouse button on the button you want to remove,

Keeping the Toolbar Always in View
You can make the ToolBar always stay on top of other windows.
Right click on the logo and select "Always on top" from the menu.

Keep the Toolbar Out of Sight
If the Toolbar is always on top of other windows and you want it to stay underneath,
right click on the EarthLink logo and uncheck "Always on top" in the menu.

Activating the Auto-Hide Capability of the Toolbar
If "Autohide" in the ToolBar menu is gray and inactive,
you can make it available by choosing "Dockable" then dragging the ToolBar to the edge of the desktop.
When the ToolBar is set to "Autohide" it will move off the screen when you're not using it.
Move your mouse cursor to the edge where it's hiding and it will slide back into view.

Updating your Account
Did you know you can change your password or update your billing information without calling tech support?
Click on the "Registration and Utilities" button on the ToolBar.
It's the icon with a checklist and pencil on it. Then choose "Update Account."
