I. Game Synopsis
==================================
The Dropships LionHeart and Valiant have been assigned drop detail on the
alien Planet, Mire. Upon insertion the LionHeart encounters heavy artillery
fire from the Alien defense positions and crashes. Your mission assignment
is to defeat the enemy defenses, rescue the survivors, scuttle the crashed
Dropship and navigate the APC troop carrier to the dust off site for extraction.
And oh yeah, don't die.
==================================
II. Game Controls

entering the Simulation the Demo menu will provide you with the default control

III. Targeting and Radar
==================================
To target the nearest available enemy, hit "T" on your keyboard. This
displays a "lock-on" square around your chosen target. Once you have
successfully locked onto an enemy, this will provide a targeting information
to always keep track of where your enemy is located.
Your radar is equipped with sophisticated systems that allow your Tank to
Distinguish between friends or enemies. Red is an enemy while Green designates
a friendly.
==================================
IV. Single-Player Walkthrough
==================================
******* WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! ********
******* SPOILER ALERT! ********
If you don't want to spoil the surprises of the single-player mission, then
DO NOT read this. However, if you find that the mission is driving you mad,
then by all means please use this
1) After watching the Dropship LionHeart crash in the opening cineractive and
taking command of your Tank, hold back to let the mortar bikes take out the enemy
guardian turrets. Stay close to the Repair Vehicle and defend it from the
Scion raiders.
2) Finish off any enemy turrets that the Mortar bikes might have missed and continue
to head North up the Ravine to the crash site. Watch your radar for the red blips that
indicate an enemy is near to prevent any nasty surprise. If you become heavily damaged or
run low on ammo, you should notice a supply APC has arrived to provide ammo and repair supplies.
Check your Radar to find the exact spot that the supplies have been dropped to
assist your efforts to reach the Crash site.
3) Arriving upon the Crash site, you will receive a video upload of the planetary
dangers and the Jak-Killers. While these ferocious beasts are merely a nuisance to
your Tank, they are preventing the crash survivors from safely exiting the crashed Dropship.
Dispatch the Jak-Killers with your machine guns and allow the survivors to board the APC.
4) After the APC is full, exit your vehicle (H key). Cycle through your weapons by clicking
the right mouse button until the SATCHEL CHARGE is selected. Run up to the Dropship wreckage
and place the satchel charge by left clicking ANYWHERE on the Dropship. Hurry back into your
ship taking care to avoid any rogue Jak-Killers that may have been attracted by the commotion.
Enter your Tank by running into it, and speed away from the crash site to ensure that you will
not be caught up in the explosion. Make sure that the APC and Repair Vehicle are far away as well.
5) After receiving the order to head to the DUST-OFF site, be sure to let your mortar bikes
lead the charge against the Guardian Turrets. Help finish them off and be prepared for 2 more
enemy vehicles to enter the fray. Do not advance further without making sure that all enemy
defenses have been defeated.
6) The reason for making sure that the area is clean is that you want to be able to fight
the enemy GUN TURRET unopposed. Let any remaining ally mortar bikes begin their attacks against
the TURRET. Aim for the balloon shaped cylinder that is the TURRET's Power Supply. Knocking this out
will disable the powerful lightning beam that quickly makes short work of any attackers, IF
it has enough power. Blow up the Turret to dispatch of the final enemy and move on.
7) After the destruction of the TURRET, the final objective remains to reach the safe confines
of the DUST OFF site. Follow your HUD to the site, making sure that the APC and Repair Vehicle
are safely with you. Congratulations Commander, you have successfully completed the BATTLEZONE II (TM) DEMO!

IX. Troubleshooting
==================================
Note that Battlezone II (TM) Demo is a pre-release, demonstration version of the
full game, and as such, is not supported on Activision's customer service line.
* Customer service calls regarding this demo will not be accepted.
* Peer-to-peer support options include newsgroups, online forums on
Battlezone II (TM) fan sites. You can find a list of these sites on the
Battlezone II (TM) website's community page.
==================================
Q: The game looks bad (white trees, polygon outlines on objects, fire
particles that have no color, etc.). What do I do?
A: Go to your card manufacturer's web site and download the very latest
drivers for your card. Install them and try again. This will fix most
problems you might have with the game.
------------------------------
Q: I select some of the options in the menu but they don't appear to do anything.
What do I do?
A: There are options that will be in the final game that are not in the Demo.
If you change an option and nothing happens, don't worry. Some options which
will be in the full game but aren't in the demo include: Automatic Leveling,
Object Detail, Texture Size, Terrain Texture, Music, and Sound Channels.
Also in the Input menu you can bind a key to the Lights function,
this feature is not enabled in the demo.
------------------------------
Q: I hop out of my vehicle to place the satchel charge and it is grayed out.
What do I do?
A: Sometimes the satchel charge is grayed out and it appears you cannot select it.
Just cycle your weapons to it and you will still be able to use it.
------------------------------
Q: In the options menu I press the Reset button and I am put back in the game and
can't do anything or my game locks up.
What do I do?
A: There are some known issues with the Reset button. If you are stuck in the
game and can't move, just hit the Escape key once and you will be taken to
the first screen of the game. If your game locks up, just restart your computer
and don't use that button again. Just quit the game and run it again if you want to reset.
------------------------------
Q: I have unlimited health and ammo turned on but I am still being damaged.
What do I do?
A: There is a known issue with the unlimited health and ammo options.
Sometimes they get reversed and so they are just the opposite of what is displayed.
Just switch the option and you will be fine, or alternatively just quit and restart the game.
Oh yeah, don't cheat.
------------------------------
Q: When I try to run the game after installation I get the message
"Can't Start Hardware Accelerated Direct3D 6". What do I do?
A: Make certain that your video card meets the minimum system requirements.
If your card does meet them, make sure to download the most recent version
of your 3D video card drivers from your manufacturer's web-site.
------------------------------
Q: The game performs sluggishly and often the graphics are very jerky.
What do I do?
A: Try turning down all of your graphic options and then play the game.
On some systems you will not get smooth gameplay unless you turn down some of the options.
Try experimenting to find which settings produce the best combination of graphics
and smooth performance for you.
------------------------------
Q: What if the game crashes and I can't return to the desktop?
A: This shouldn't happen to you. But if it does, then reboot the machine
and perform a scan disk if necessary.
------------------------------
Q: If I use TweakUI (a Microsoft control panel on some systems) and select
ActivationFollowsMouse The game input does not work.
A: This is something that we are fixing for the final product.
For the Battlezone 2 (TM) Demo, we recommend not using TweakUI.

Known Issues:
1. If your mouse cursor does not move after starting the program, hit the <ALT> + TAB key
combination twice. This should clear up the problem.
2. When approaching the crash site from the back route to attack the Jak Killers, there is the possibility of
becoming stuck. We suggest you save right before this location, as you won't be able to continue once stuck.
3. When near the border of the map, there is a possibility of becoming stuck.
