  22. 1.0 PRODUCT LICENSE AGREEMENT

  24. To register your Network Associates product, please refer to the
  25. registration section in this file.

  27. NOTICE TO USERS: CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING LEGAL
  28. AGREEMENT. USE OF THE SOFTWARE PROVIDED WITH THIS AGREEMENT
  29. (THE "SOFTWARE") CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS.
  30. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROMPTLY
  31. REMOVE THE SOFTWARE TOGETHER WITH ALL COPIES FROM YOUR
  32. COMPUTER. USER'S USE OF THIS SOFTWARE IS CONDITIONED UPON
  33. COMPLIANCE BY USER WITH THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.

  35. 1.  LICENSE GRANT. Network Associates, Inc.
  36.     grants to you a non-exclusive, non-transferable 
  37.     right to use the SOFTWARE on file servers connected 
  38.     to a maximum number of user computers, or on a maximum 
  39.     number of user computers, not exceeding the number 
  40.     of user computers specified on the packaging for this 
  41.     product. This license to use the SOFTWARE is conditioned 
  42.     upon your compliance with the terms of this agreement. 
  43.     You agree you will only copy the SOFTWARE into any 
  44.     machine-readable or printed form as necessary to use
  45.     it in accordance with this license or for backup purposes
  46.     in support of your use of the SOFTWARE. This license is
  47.     effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any
  48.     point by destroying the SOFTWARE together with all copies
  49.     of the SOFTWARE. Also, NETWORK ASSOCIATES has the option to terminate
  50.     if you fail to comply with any term or condition of this
  51.     agreement. You agree upon such termination to destroy
  52.     the SOFTWARE together with all copies of the SOFTWARE.
  53.  
  54. 2.  COPYRIGHT. The SOFTWARE is protected by United States
  55.     copyright law and international treaty provisions. You
  56.     acknowledge that no title to the intellectual property
  57.     in the SOFTWARE is transferred to you. You further
  58.     acknowledge that title and full ownership rights to the
  59.     SOFTWARE will remain the exclusive property of NETWORK ASSOCIATES or
  60.     its suppliers, and you will not acquire any rights to
  61.     the SOFTWARE except as expressly set forth in this
  62.     license. You agree that any copies of the SOFTWARE
  63.     will contain the same proprietary notices that appear
  64.     on and in the SOFTWARE.
  65.  
  66. 3.  REVERSE ENGINEERING. You agree that you will not attempt
  67.     to reverse compile, modify, translate, or disassemble
  68.     the SOFTWARE in whole or in part.
  69.  
  70. 4.  LIMITED WARRANTY. NETWORK ASSOCIATES warrants that the SOFTWARE
  71.     will perform substantially in accordance with the
  72.     accompanying written materials for a period of thirty
  73.     (30) days from the date of purchase. Any implied
  74.     warranties relating to the SOFTWARE are limited to
  75.     thirty (30) days.
  76.  
  77. 5.  CUSTOMER REMEDIES. If the SOFTWARE does not conform
  78.     to the limited warranty in Section 4 above
  79.     ("Limited Warranty"), NETWORK ASSOCIATES' entire liability and
  80.     your sole remedy shall be, at NETWORK ASSOCIATES' option, either
  81.     to (a) correct the error or (b) help you work around
  82.     or avoid the error. The Limited Warranty is void if
  83.     failure of the SOFTWARE has resulted from accident,
  84.     abuse, or misapplication. Any replacement SOFTWARE
  85.     will be warranted for the remainder of the original
  86.     Limited Warranty period.
  87.  
  88. 6.  NO OTHER WARRANTIES. NETWORK ASSOCIATES DOES NOT WARRANT THAT
  89.     THE SOFTWARE IS ERROR FREE. EXCEPT FOR THE EXPRESS
  90.     LIMITED WARRANTY IN SECTION 4 ("LIMITED WARRANTY"),
  91.     NETWORK ASSOCIATES DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO
  92.     THE SOFTWARE, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT
  93.     NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY,
  94.     FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT
  95.     OF THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS.

  97.     SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF
  98.     IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN
  99.     IMPLIED WARRANTY MAY LAST, OR THE EXCLUSION OR
  100.     LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES,
  101.     SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY
  102.     TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS.

  106. 7.  SEVERABILITY. In the event of invalidity of any
  107.     provision of this license, the parties agree that
  108.     such invalidity shall not affect the validity of the
  109.     remaining portions of this license.

  111. 8.  NO LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT
  112.     SHALL NETWORK ASSOCIATES OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY
  113.     CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES
  114.     OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF THE DELIVERY, PERFORMANCE,
  115.     OR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF NETWORK ASSOCIATES HAS BEEN ADVISED
  116.     OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT WILL
  117.     NETWORK ASSOCIATES' LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM, WHETHER IN CONTRACT,
  118.     TORT, OR ANY OTHER THEORY OF LIABILITY, EXCEED THE
  119.     LICENSE FEE PAID BY YOU, IF ANY.

  121. 9.  GOVERNING LAW. This license will be governed by the
  122.     laws of the State of California as they are applied
  123.     to agreements between California residents entered
  124.     into and to be performed entirely within California.
  125.     The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the
  126.     International Sale of Goods is specifically disclaimed.

  128. 10. ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This is the entire agreement between
  129.     you and NETWORK ASSOCIATES, which supersedes any prior agreement
  130.     or understanding, whether written or oral, relating
  131.     to the subject matter of this license.

  133. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS
  134. If this product is acquired under the terms of a
  135. (i) Civilian Agency Contract: use, reproduction, or
  136. disclosure is subject to FAR 52.227-19(a) through (d)
  137. and restrictions set forth in the accompanying end-user
  138. agreement; and (ii) DoD Contract: use, duplication or
  139. disclosure by the Government is subject to the terms of
  140. this license unless superseded by 252.227-7013(c)(1)(ii).

  320. * QUICK COMMAND REFERENCE GUIDE *

  322. Before you install a Network Associates product that you've downloaded 
  323. from an online service, you'll want to verify that the files 
  324. you downloaded are exactly the same as when we posted them 
  325. online. We recommend you perform this task for maximum 
  326. anti-virus protection. Read the following paragraphs to 
  327. learn how to validate your file.
  328.  
  329. Included in the files you downloaded is the Validate program
  330. (version 2.0.1). Validate is a file-authentication program 
  331. that you can use to check program files for signs of 
  332. tampering. Validate uses two methods of generating Cyclic 
  333. Redundancy Checks (CRCs), then displays the information so you 
  334. can compare these statistics against the "known value" for the 
  335. program files. The dual CRC checking provides a high degree 
  336. of security. The known value you use for validation is usually
  337. provided by the author of the program, or you may receive it
  338. from a trusted information database. You can find the statistics
  339. for this Network Associates product in the file PACKING.LST.
  340.  
  341. To confirm that a program file has not been tampered with,
  342. run the Validate program and record the validation data
  343. produced. Compare this data against the file statistics
  344. the program author has specified. If the information matches,
  345. most likely the program has not been modified since the files
  346. were placed online.
  347.  
  348. To run Validate, enter the following command:

  352. where <pathspec> is the name of a directory and file. The
  353. wildcard characters * and ? can be used when specifying
  354. <pathspec>.
