Internet Explorer 4.0 provides you with a bigger view of any Web page by allowing you to expand the browser to fill the entire screen (except for the space the toolbar occupies at the top). To do this in IE 4.0 (or Windows 98), choose ViewûFull Screen or click the Full Screen button on the toolbar.

But what if you want to do the same thing in plain old Windows Explorer?

You won't find the Full Screen command on the menu or toolbar, but you can still fill your screen with Explorer by using this undocumented keyboard shortcut ù just press <F11>. Press <F11> a second time to restore the window to normal size.

This is a useful way to get the biggest possible view of Explorer, especially if you're stuck with a low-resolution monitor or you just want to see all three panes (file tree, Web-view preview panel, and file list) on the screen at once.

In the latter case, you should set up your multipane view before zooming, because you won't have access to the menu bar in full-screen mode. Choose Viewûas Web Page to display the preview panel, and choose the Explorer Bar of your choice from the ViewûExplorer Bar submenu. Then press <F11>. In full-screen mode, the Explorer bar slides in and out in front of the preview panel when you move the pointer to the left. If you want to make the Explorer Bar stay in one place, just click the push-pin button.
