Video RAM: correction
Thanks to Darren Germon, who spotted some arithmetical errors in our video memory table (The colour of RAM, August 98, p150). To achieve 256 colours at resolutions of 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 requires 512K video RAM, and not 1MB as stated in the table. For a 256-colour display at 1024 x 768, you will need 1MB video RAM. Similarly, if you want 65,536 colours on an 800 x 600 screen, you can get by with only 1MB RAM. û Neville Clarkson | Category:hardware Issue: October 1998 |
