Office update - old patches, new pack
Tip Microsoft's long-awaited Office 97 Service Release is now available at http://www.microsoft.com/Office/Office97/ServiceRelease. But the 8Mb collection of Office 97 enhancements and add-ons doesn't contain much that isn't already available on the Office 97 Web site. In fact, the Service Release's main point seems to be putting all the current fixes and add-ons into a single patch. Among the improvements: a 623K file-format converter lets Word 97 users save documents in true Word 6.0/95 binary format. Outlook, the personal information manager and e-mail program, receives a bug fix that stops it from adding bcc: addresses to the headers of Internet mail messages; and rules and a three-pane--view add-on make the package more competitive with stand-alone programs such as Eudora. Another utility allows you to send stand-alone views of Access database reports to coworkers. - Scott Spanbauer [ | Category: Bugs and fixes Issue: Nov 1997 Pages: 171 |
