Shortcuts to DOS apps
Tip In Windows 95, it's possible to create a desktop shortcut to a DOS application on the network in the following way: 1) Right-click on the desktop and choose New--Shortcut. 2) Specify the command line using a UNC, eg \\hulk\utils\pabx\pabx.exe. The problem with this method is that right-clicking on the shortcut does not allow you to edit many of the properties of the shortcut, such as font, memory, and so forth. To get around this, create a new shortcut on the desktop with the command line command, click Next and then Finish. Now edit this new shortcut under the Program tab (in the shortcut's properties) to point to the correct UNC, and then edit icon, memory and font settings as desired. | Category: Digital Helpline, Win95 Issue: May 1997 Pages: 178 |
