Windows 95 underestimates RAM




Why does Win95 report less RAM than I actually have?

An example of this is if you have 24Mb RAM installed in your computer, yet Windows 95 only seems to see 16Mb of RAM. First, make sure that you don't have any drivers or programs in config.sys or autoexec.bat that may be allocating and holding the amount of RAM that seems to be missing. Second, check if you have an EISA-based computer. If so, make sure the CMOS (BIOS settings) list the correct amount of RAM. Lastly, and most likely, your registry may be damaged. Microsoft recommends that you restore a backup copy of the Registry.
