Firstly, I must congratulate you and the staff on a magnificent magazine. I read your magazine from cover to cover every time I get it. I especially enjoy reading the Help Screen.
The new Canon BJC-21O inkjet is claimed to have a 360dpi resolution, with 720 by 360dpi smoothing when printing in black. What effect does smoothing have on the resolution?

We found Canon's answer to this question at http://www.ccsi.canon.com/cgi-bin/inketc.cgi?BJC-210 and http://www.europe.canon.com/cgi-bin/specs/printers/bjc210
Firstly, you are limited to the black only cartridge (BC-02), so you can't do any colour work with this installed. With the black cartridge, you gain access to 64 nozzles rather than the usual 48 nozzles (16 each for cyan, magenta and yellow). With colour, you get access to 360 by 360dpi. Using the black cartridge with the smoothing algorithm, you get an effective 720 by 360dpi. Note that this high-resolution graphics mode is, of course, slow -- 1.7 pages per minute is the peak speed listed!
