The real Windows 98 Service Pack
Was there ever any doubt? Microsoft has confirmed that it will begin testing the first collection of Windows 98 bug fixes by year's end. A Microsoft Web site refers to an upcoming Windows 98 Service Pack - the first public acknowledgment of plans for a Windows 98 bug fix package. The company had denied early reports that the collection of multimedia updates it had posted recently to the Windows Update site contained bug fixes, even though it was identified as a service pack while in beta testing. At press time, Microsoft wouldn't comment on which of the hundreds of documented Win 98 bugs and incompatibilities the pack would fix, nor on when the pack would be available. - Scott Spanbauer | Category:bugs and fixes, win98 Issue: December 1998 |
