Gather e-mail while you sleep
Q Is there an app that will dial up my ISP, connect to my POP server, download my mail, and log off? - Chris Linden A You can set up Outlook Express to dial your ISP and collect e-mail for you even when you're not around. Click Tools-Options. Under the General tab place a check beside Check for new messages every x minutes, and specify how often you want the program to check for mail. Now head to the Dial-Up tab, and place checks beside Hang up when finished sending, receiving, or downloading and Automatically dial when checking for new messages. Click Apply, then OK. You'll need to keep Outlook Express activated. If you're running Windows 95, you'll have to update Dial-Up Networking to give it the ability to make unattended connections. You can find the free DUN 1.3 on this monthÆs cover CD. - Judy Heim |
